I don't own any of this Loud House belongs to Nickelodeon.
The Louds have been kicked out of many places in their lives: such as restaurants or the community pools in their town or the next town over. But they never thought in a million years, that they would get kicked out of their very own backyard.
They had traveled two and a half blocks, before they had to stop in front of what remained of a pink house because of Lynn's injured leg that was oozing out fresh blood. Rita gently set him down on the ground, careful not to have the injured leg apply any weight from the rest of his body.
Once on the ground, Lynn looked down to his spread out leg, his bottom pant leg is covered in red as blood continued to ooze out. Lynn could practically faint from the sight, and he definitely felt like it as he feared blood, especially if the blood turned out to be his own. But he had to be strong for his family, as they needed him and acting like a coward wasn't going to help them.
He hoped that they were far away from those awful people who not only shot him, but also killed two of their pets, and force them out of their own backyard. Lynn couldn't imagine what would happen if they decided to come after him and his family just for the hell of it.
Speaking of his family, Lynn looked up to them as they crowded around him in concern. They stared at his injury feeling many mixed emotions bubbling inside them. Lynn felt angry that those guys shot her dad, she looked back the way they came, shaking her fists at her side.
"I can't believe it." She spoke up.
Luna nodded, "I know what you mean dude. Popstar needs some serious medical attention."
"I know that, but I can't believe those punks just shot our dad, kicked us out, and steal our supplies! We should've done something!" Lynn stated in anger.
"Like what?" Luan began. "In case you haven't noticed Lynn, those guys outnumbered us, not to mention they had rifles pointed right at us. They were clearly not in the joking mood."
"Maybe we could've reason with them?" Leni suggested.
"Doubt it, besides after what they did to Cliff and Walt, they don't deserve any reasoning." Lana bitterly exclaimed while holding back her tears over the thought of the deaths of two of their pets.
Lana wasn't the only one, after bringing it up the rest of the family thought of them being struck down so cruelly. At least Charles and Geo were still alive, though it's unknown where they had ran off to, hopefully they were alright as this place wasn't the Royal Woods they had known for years.
"So what do we do now?" Lincoln asked for he wanted to change the subject.
"Well this has become an unexpected predicament in plans. Those big brutes must've taken all of our essential items in my shelter by now." Lisa stated, she thinks of their new situation before continuing on.
"We are now outside with no supplies on our backs, those barbarians are out in the streets where we can run into each other any time in the future, plus father has a significant injury on his leg that if not attended could lead to serious infection." She further explained.
"So that's it? We're just doom?" Luan question.
"Not necessarily Luan. We just need to reassemble ourselves, but most importantly we need to find something to mend father's leg."
"How do we do that?" Leni asked.
"Yeah, I'm sure that the hospital is no more. We can't exactly go there." Lynn pointed out.
"Yes, it's going to be rather difficult, but all we need to do is bandage it up in order to prevent further blood loss." Lisa said.
"So just get dad a bandaid?" Leni exclaimed in question.
Lisa shook her head. "No, a hospital type bandage."
"And where the heck are we suppose to find one of those?" Lynn remarked.
"At the pharmacy on Spooner street." Lisa replied.
"The one near dad's old office job?" Lana asked.
Lisa nodded in confirmation. The rest of the Louds grew uneasy for that was halfway across town and without Vanzilla it was going to be quite the long walk for them. It was going to be longer with their dad's injury, if only they had a wheelchair to push him in.
Lincoln took a glance towards the pink house, where he then spotted something that gave him a grand idea that will help move his dad across town.
"Great idea bro!" Luna complimented as she affectionately rubbed her brother's hair.
"Yeah Lincoln, dad is really rolling now." Luan joked before going into a fit of laughter.
The family had Lynn set inside a wheelbarrow that Lincoln had saw laying bottom up near the side of the house. It wasn't the most comfortable ride since the rubber on the tire had melted off and the sidewalk had cracks and potholes in them making Lynn bounce around in his makeshift wheelchair.
Nonetheless the wheelbarrow helped them move Lynn along with them as they headed towards town.
Lola along with Margo and the rest of the girls had reached the driveway of Lola's house. During their travel here, Lola had kept noticing on how watchful Margo and the others were being.
Something was definitely up with them and whatever they were being watchful for, it got her a little antsy since these were tough girls, and what or who can ever make all of them anxious, then it must be very big.
Now standing at the end of her driveway, Lola was wondering whether to ask or not if something was wrong, but before she could even ask or say anything Margo spoke up. "Well, let's go get your family."
Margo and the girls went forward, Lola quickly went to catch up with them. Suddenly the girls stopped in their tracks, the stop was so sudden that Lola nearly collided with one of the girls.
"Why did you guys stop?" Lola asked only to receive a sush from a girl wearing glasses.
Slowly the group of girls crouch down against the side of the brick foundation of the house, basically one of the only things of the house still standing. Margo very slowly peeked out from the corner, after a few seconds Margo gave an all clear signal, but before any of them moved however. Margo turns to them, giving them a be quiet signal.
They slowly entered the backyard, Lola immediately sensed that something was not right: for one the shelter's hatch is still open, and two there was blood on the ground. Something had definitely happened here, and from what she could judge it wasn't pretty.
Margo and the girls meanwhile crept up slowly to the fallout shelter. They stopped just at the bottom of it, before climbing up it where they very carefully looked around the yard and beyond the fence, Margo climbed up to the top and looked down inside where she saw that the shelter was completely empty of both human and supplies.
"Clear." She called out.
Lola approaches the shelter, she looked up to them in curiosity. "What do you mean clear? Is my family not here?"
Margo looked down to the shelter again, from here she could see the bodies of a cat and bird which she knew were her pets. Margo didn't want the six year old to see them, so she jumped down in front of her, so that Lola wouldn't climb up the shelter.
"No, I'm afraid their not." She replied sadly.
"Where could they have gone?"
"I don't know Lola, they could be searching for you."
Lola thought about that and that was a good explanation, but she also knew that something else had happened. It wasn't just because of the blood on the ground, but also because she knew that Margo is hiding something from her.
"Do you have any idea where they could've gone?" Margo then asked.
Lola nodded. "Possibly to town." Now Margo nodded, she placed her hands on her waist as she stood up straight, she then turned to address the rest of her group. "Come on girls."
They quickly left the backyard, perhaps a little too quickly in Lola's opinion. Lola stayed behind for a bit, looking at the blood on the ground. Something had happened and she was going to find out what it was.
After traveling for half an hour, the family had finally entered Spooner street. During the walk they glance around at the destruction all around them, it just felt so weird that just last week the town was normal, but now seeing it in the state it is currently in, well it weirded them out.
Lucy however smiled, despite the destruction and despair as far as the eye could see. Lucy absolutely loved this darkness, her dream of a eternal night has finally come true, of course she wished that it didn't come with an armageddon, as she viewed it as coming a tad too far. Okay way too far she admitted, but still she couldn't help but like this darkness that has taken over the Earth.
"There, I see the pharmacy just up a head." Luan stated.
Rita let's out a breath of relief. "Thank goodness." The task of pushing her husband around for half an hour was just starting to tire her out, she can now take a short rest as they searched for what Lynn needed.
The family gets in front of the pharmacy which looked to be in good condition, save for the blown out glass and door. Rita sets the wheelbarrow down to the curb, she along with her kids looked at the building in front of them. Somewhere inside were the items that would help their father's/husband's injury.
Hopefully it wasn't cleaned out by people who were pillaging before the impact, or by those people that got them in this situation in the first place.
"Okay, so we just need to find bandages for dad?" Leni asked.
Lisa nodded. "Correct Leni, but also medicine like penicillin to combat any harmful bacteria that may have already gotten in the wound."
"Well what are we waiting for? Let's get the stuff already." Lynn exclaimed with a clap of her hands, then went in the pharmacy along with Lincoln, Luna, Lisa, and Leni. The others stayed behind to keep Lynn Sr. company.
Upon entering; the four felt dismayed as the shelves had only a very few items left on them. Seems like others had the same idea on getting medicine and antibiotics, they would have to be very lucky to find what they needed.
"Everyone spread out, we may just might find the items I listed." Lisa instructed.
"Got it Lisa." Lincoln said.
The four did what Lisa told them to do, they looked around the pharmacy for anything useful. Lincoln and Luna searched through the shelves, pushing away what remained on them.
"Find anything bro?"
"Not yet Luna, what about you?"
Luna sadly shook her head. "Afraid not bro."
"Perhaps there's something on the other aisles." Lincoln suggested.
"Could be little bro." Luna agreed, she along with with her brother went off to other aisles. Luna came to one aisle where she came across Lynn who tossed items on the floor with so little regard.
"What are you doing sis?" Luna asked.
"Looking for the stuff that will help dad." Lynn replied nonchalantly.
"Why are you tossing those items like trash?"
Lynn shrugged. "What? It's not like the owner is going to mind." Lynn continues on what she was doing.
"That's kinda morbid sis." Luna stated.
"It's a new world Luna, you're going to have to be morbid sometimes." Lynn remarked.
"I'm not so sure about that Lynn." Luna said.
Lynn shrugged again. "Whatever, let's just find that stuff already." Lynn tossed away more items, Luna didn't feel like continuing to argue with Lynn and just resume her own search for the bandage.
Lisa checked behind the desk, like much of the pharmacy; most of the items here were only a few left. Apparently people wanted everything that they can get their hands on. Lisa could not blame them for they were just looking out for their own survival during this catastrophe.
Unlike her athletic older sister however, she is more careful and slower as she scanned for what remained here, it rewarded her greatly as she spotted a bottle of penicillin, which unfortunately is on the very top of the shelve, where given her short status is a obvious problem.
"If only I brought my backpack, I could use the built in jetpack to hover up there." Lisa told herself, she was going to need some help in order to reach the antibiotic.
Glancing over she saw her older sister Leni looking through the greeting cards. "Older sister." Lisa called out, Leni looked over to her with a smile. "Yes Lisa."
"I require your assistance."
Leni walked over to her with curiosity on her happy face. "What do you need Lisa? Do you need help putting on your footsie pajamas?"
"It's not time for bed Leni." Lisa remarked.
"But it's dark outside." Leni stated.
"Believe me Leni, it's not time for bed." Lisa replied, she didn't bother to tell Leni the reason why it was dark for it would take awhile, plus she knew that time wasn't on their side. "I just need you to lift me to the top shelve, so that I can reach the penicillin."
Leni nodded. "Okie dokie." Leni leans down, grabbed her under the shoulders. "Up we go." Leni lifted her up with ease.
Now within reach Lisa grabbed the penicillin. "Thank you Leni, now you can kindly put me down." Leni gently places her younger sister down, she patted her on the head then noticed a door that caught her full attention.
"Hey Lisa?"
"Yes Leni?" Lisa replied as she looked at the bottle of penicillin.
"What's behind that door?" Leni pointed to it, Lisa looked over with mid interest. "Possibly backup supplies. Hopefully with the bandages I mention."
Leni went to the door, she opened it then let out a bloodcurdling scream that alerted her siblings. They all rushed over to see what was wrong, they didn't need to ask, once they looked in the closet and utterly held in their own screams.
Right there in front of them is the hanging corpse of the owner. He was green in decay, and was producing a horrible stench. The siblings were utterly speechless, the shock of this disturbing discovery rang through them hard, plus to make matters worse Lincoln had spotted the bandage that Lisa had mentioned right behind the hanging corpse.
"Guys I found the bandage." He said quietly.
The others looked and did indeed saw it. None of them wanted to go near the body, but they needed to have the bandage. Lynn suddenly rose her finger to her nose. "Dip's not it."
The others do the same thing with Leni being the last one. "Dang it."
Grimacing in disgust Leni slowly entered the closet. She slinks close to the wall to avoid any touching of the corpse that dangled in close proximity to her. "So gross." Leni groan.
"Just reach over Leni." Lisa called out.
"Kinda hard since he's that close to the shelve." Lincoln pointed out.
"That's not helping stinkcoln." Lynn stated.
Leni gulped, she slowly reaches her hand behind the corpse, she couldn't quite reach the bandages, so she took a step closer which brought her uncontrollably closer to the body.
Straining her arm, Leni eventually grabbed hold of the bandage box. Leni smiled and turned to her siblings, "I got them guys."
Leni moves her arm back too quickly, she bumped it against the body's back making it swing around, where it hit Leni hard enough to nearly make her fall.
"Ew! He touched me!" Leni panicked, she races out of the closet very quickly, disgusted beyond relief from the feeling of an actual corpse touching her.
Leni ran towards the exit, fallowed closely by her siblings.
"Are you ok Leni? We heard you screaming earlier." Rita exclaimed in worry.
"There was a dead man in there!" Leni screamed in hysterics. Her parents were immediately concern as that must've been traumatizing for her and their other kids who were in there. If they had known about it, they would've never let any of them in there, though they suppose Lucy wouldn't have minded.
"Are you going to be alright kiddo?" Lynn Sr. asked in concern.
"I, I think so, but more importantly we got the stuff for you dad." Leni exclaimed with a small, caring smile at the end of her sentence.
"Which is good because you definitely need medical attention right now father." Lisa chimed in while pointing to her dad's leg.
"I guess we should get started then." Luan said.
Rita steps forward, taking the bandages and penicillin out of her daughter's hands. "All right, I'll attend to your father's injury, you guys stay back. This might be a bit much for you."
The kids did what their mother told them to do, they moved a good distance away, as they stood where they were the sound of their dad grunting in pain could be heard, making them very uncomfortable.
"So you really saw a body?" Lucy suddenly asked.
"Yeah" Lincoln replied uncomfortably.
Lucy gave a small smile. "Wicked"
The sounds of their dad's painful grunts could still be heard, Lynn looked around the area to tune those sounds out. "Man, this place has become a ghost town." She suddenly exclaimed.
"Doesn't surprise me." Lisa started. "This is most likely a common site throughout the US, mostly in small towns."
"So what about in cities?" Lincoln asked as he now thought of Ronnie Anne and her family. He wondered if they were alright.
"Cities, except for the ones on the eastern coasts, are most likely still populated. Though they most likely reverted into separate tribes or groups in order to keep their love ones safe." Lisa calmly explained.
Lincoln didn't know how to respond to that, would people really revert to a tribal state? He suppose that could happen, if so then hopefully Ronnie Anne along with her family were in one of those groups safe and sound, he knew that Ronnie Anne was a tough girl, but with what he experienced with those people earlier, he really hoped that she didn't encounter any bad people herself.
Meanwhile Leni glances to a spot where a tree used to be. Leni had noticed that the tree stump is covered in red mushrooms that had white spots covering the top. "Look at the pretty mushrooms." She stated.
Lisa glances over. "I wouldn't go near those ones Leni."
"Why not?" Leni asked.
"Their poisonous." Lisa simply replied.
Leni immediately backed away from the stump. Her siblings also backed away as they didn't want to be poison, Lisa however didn't move an inch. "Relax as long as you don't eat them, you'll be fine."
"So no going Super Mario? Ok, got it completely." Luan said.
"You know dudes, I noticed that were shrooms growing everywhere. Which is odd? For I thought that they wouldn't be growing in these conditions." Luna stated.
"Actually it's very normal." Lisa said.
"How so sis?" Luna question.
"Simple mushrooms and other fungi don't need sunlight to live. They're thriving by breaking down dead organic material, as you already know the disaster has left countless to unfortunately expire. This Intel leads to a era where all shorts of fungi will dominate the landscape." Lisa explained.
"Dang dude! That's going to be a lot of mushrooms." Luna exclaimed in shock.
Lisa nodded. "Indeed, it's also helping the planet."
The siblings looked at her confused. "How so?" Luan question.
"Well you see, when they break down dead organic material, they give out nutrients that will make the soil fertile again." Lisa answered.
"Oh, that's good." Leni exclaimed for she was really missing the beautiful flowers that used to grow all around here.
"Yes it is, but don't get your hopes up just yet Leni. It's going to be a very long time before our planet is covered in green again." Lisa continued.
Leni looked to the ground in disappointment over not being able to see any pretty flowers for awhile, it saddened her for she liked looking at flowers with their pretty colors and pleasant smells.
"All done." They heard their mother say.
The siblings looked over to see their dad with the bandage wrapped firmly around the area of the bullet wound. "Is dad going to be okay?" Leni asked.
"I'm not sure." Rita replied honestly before continuing on. "But hopefully your father will make a full recovery."
"So now that we have dad covered. What do we do now?" Lana question.
"That's a good question Lana." Rita exclaimed.
"Yes" Lisa agreed. "With my shelter stripped from it's supplies thanks to those barbarians. We are going to need to find a new shelter that will provide us, though it's going to be rather difficult."
"Not to mention, we still need to find Lola." Lana reminded.
Lynn Sr. sat up straight in his wheelbarrow in alarm, he had forgotten all about Lola during all this. Lynn felt ashamed of himself for what kind of dad would just forget about his missing six year old daughter. Lynn hoped that she was alright where ever she was? And hopped that they would find her very soon.
"What do we do first? Try to find Lola? Or find a new home?" Luan question.
"We're definitely going to find Lola first." Lynn Sr. called out. "That's a top priority."
"But where do we start? Lola could be anywhere." Lincoln stated.
"That's easy, she's right over there." Leni said in glee while she is pointing down the street. The family looked over and to their relief, they did indeed see Lola heading towards them with much to Lynn's surprise Margo and the rest of her roller derby team.
Lana beamed in happiness upon reuniting with her twin, she rushes over and embraces Lola in a tight hug that Lola greatly returned. "Lola! Thank goodness you're safe!"
"Relax will you Lana. Of course I'm fine, I just went out for a walk." Lola retorted.
"That was a really irrational decision of you." Lisa called out as she approached the two along with the rest of the family. Lynn meanwhile rushed over to her team, where she gave Margo a friendly fist pump, before pulling her in a tight hug.
"Margo! You made it!" Lynn excitedly stated.
"Of course Lynnsanity! No space rock is going to knock me or the rest of the team out that easily!" Margo replied as she got released from Lynn's tight hug.
"Yeah! Nothing can take us down!" Lynn addressed to the rest of her team, which escalated in a group chest bump.
Meanwhile Lola had noticed her dad in the wheelbarrow and the bandage up part of his leg. This raised concern in her for she couldn't imagine what could've happened to have her dad end up like this, in the back of her mind Lola saw the blood on the ground that she saw earlier.
"What happen to you daddy?"
Lynn Sr. let out a puff of air, but kept up a smile of reassurance. "Just ran into some bad people Lola. It's nothing to worry about."
Margo perked up upon the mention of bad people, Lynn noticed the change in her best friend's posture as well as the rest of her team. "What's wrong guys?"
Margo or any of the others didn't seem to hear her. Margo instead narrowed her eyes as if an arch rival has just been mention. "The Wolf Gang." Margo said lowly.
"Who?" Lynn asked confused.
"Oh! So that's who you're watching for." Lola exclaimed.
"Their these group of survivors that formed the day after the impact. They go around town taking anything they can get their hands on, and as you already know by your own experience, they don't do it kindly. They will forcefully remove you from wherever you just happened to take shelter in and take everything, leaving you with nothing."
"Just like what they did with us." Lincoln stated.
"That's not all." Margo continued. "If you refuse to move. They'll either beat the living crap out of you, or worse kill you on the spot. That's why many of us who aren't with them formed into our own group."
"Your own group?" Rita now asked in surprise.
Margo nodded, "Yes, we're situated at the middle school. You are all welcome to join us."
The family perked up in glee. "We can?" They all asked at once.
Margo nodded gleefully. "Of course." She then turned to Lynn and gave her a playful punch on the shoulder. "Besides, we gotta have Lynnsanity with us."
Lynn playfully punches her back. "Yeah you do!" The two friends laugh before Margo turned to address the rest of the family. "Well what are we waiting for? Let's go already!"
Margo and the rest of the roller derby team began heading towards the direction of the middle school. The family fallowed feeling happy, perhaps now things were finally turning in their direction.
