Danny was having the time of his life when Kuri found him and gave him a gift that was going to change his life forever.

3. Heroes

"How did you know?" Danny asked, more angry than scared. "Oh I see. ClockWork told you."

"No." I wagged my finger at him. "ClockWork is a supporter of what we do here. He recommended you, but you were already on our list."

"How do you choose people?" Danny's curiosity got the better of him.

"We choose…" I looked around, gesturing at people researching and training. "People with certain…talents. You can always go home sometimes. But some, no, many of us stay here year-round."

"So it's like a school or something?"

My eyes narrowed. "This is not a place of learning, it's a place of fighting. A place for warriors. You only need to learn about the monsters we face and how to purify them."

"So it's like a place for heroes?"

I nodded. Now he was getting it.

"What does purify mean?"

I smirked. "So glad you asked."
