I don't own any of this Loud House belongs to Nickelodeon.
As the weeks turned into a full month, things weren't getting any better for the planet for it is still shrouded in darkness, which had by now killed all the plants, leaving the only things to grow is fungi, which by now had covered the ground.
Certain species have died off; large herbivores such as elephants, hippos, and rhinos are now gone forever. Medium and smaller sized herbivores were struggling with many already loosing half their species.
Certain dogs have also died off during the past weeks. The smaller ones or ones that don't have the equipment to live off in the wild are gone, with many of the smaller ones being hunted down by packs of larger dogs.
Humanity however is still struggling in this new world. Many of them had settled themselves in little communities or tribes as you can call it. Everywhere around the planet; tribes were competing for limited supplies, some shared and traded on what they have with each other. But others would do whatever it took in order to survive, which meant many clashes, raids, and killings to get what they wanted.
Deaths also became quite common for the past weeks as many either couldn't cope with the new way of life or met unfortunate ends. For those close to nuclear plants or Chernobyl they were infected by lethal doses of radiation sickness.
Predators also served as a problem. With prey slowly becoming scarce, they now grew desperate enough to start hunting humans. They usually hunted small groups or individuals that are out on their own and unable to defend themselves.
But of course that wasn't the end, for the impact has also stirred up another disaster that comes from within the planet itself. You see when a large rock slams into the planet at 45 thousand mph, it shoots a megaton of energy straight into the ground. Seismic shockwaves ribble into the planet searing and tearing tectonic plates, which opens up factors, that releases molten rock in violent volcanic eruptions.
All around the globe every volcano, including long dormant ones like Mount Vesuvius to even the super ones awaken in a vengeance. The volcanic eruptions kill many in the areas around them, while also adding another layer to the dust and toxic cloud that already surrounds the planet.
Lori covered her mouth from the falling volcanic ash that originated from yellowstone thousand of miles away. Here in Michigan; the ash wasn't falling as severally as it was in states that were more closer to yellowstone, or other volcanoes such as Mount St Helens that had erupted.
Lori had been traveling down the road for weeks, the beverage situation is severe as although she had found some bottles of water in which she had tried her best to conserve, but alas ran out along with her cans of beans, making her food situation as severe as well.
Lori's skin is also covered in burns due to being exposed to acid rain. If she hadn't found a thick coat in the back of what she thought was a blue car, then the burns would've been even more severe.
It's not hard to say that life has been hardest for the eldest Loud sibling who's not only still out on her own, but also hungry, thirsty, hurt from the burns, shivering from the dropping temperatures that came after weeks of darkness, and is still miles away from home.
On a few days, Lori wondered if she should just give up and lie down, waiting for death to come get her, as it seemed like that was the easiest option to get out of this post-apocalyptic world. Hell she wouldn't be any different from the other corpses that she seen in cars or on the ground.
The only thing that kept her going is seeing that photo of her family on the phone. They must still be alive and waiting for her to return home safe and sound. She mustn't let them down, Lori had to show them that she is alive and she had to see that if they were alive.
This determination is what fueled her on, despite her condition. She walked down the lonely road, her stomach growled furiously, demanding food to fill it. Lori had to stop to hold onto her very hungry belly, she needed to find something to eat, she'll starve if she doesn't. That or perish from dehydration.
Unfortunately as she scanned the wasteland, Lori couldn't see anything that would serve as a edible meal or any water for that matter. It's just her luck to be in this wasteland desert with no sign of any town in sight.
Lori's stomach roared again, forcing the oldest Loud to get on her knees, clenching her poor stomach while letting out a groan. "I will literally eat anything." She moaned.
A small bug crawls in front of her view. Bugs as well as insects were actually doing quite well during post-impact, they were actually just as common as before. Lori looked at the small bug ravenously, under normal circumstances she wouldn't dream of eating a bug, but now with her being so hungry, she raised her hand to grab it.
Lori makes a grab for the bug, the bug flies off just a second before Lori's hand grabbed nothing but air and ash. "No! Get back here!" She cried out to the flying away bug.
She falls on her belly in despair, letting out a cry from how hungry she is. Lori didn't know how long she had laid down there crying her eyes out, but by the time she got back up, she had to shake off the ash that had collected on her.
Lori stood where she was, her stomach grumbled in protest from any movement she made. Very slowly Lori continued on her way, she just had to run into something that she can eat, she'll even eat tree bark if she had to.
After more walking down the road, Lori felt like she is about to go on her last legs as she walked very slowly. She feared that she would soon drop dead at any moment now.
Lori glumly glances up, she stopped as it could be her hallucinating over not getting any food or water for days, but she could swear that up a few miles ahead is the remains of a town.
Rubbing her eyes, she looked again and the town is still there within her view, it was real as the landscape around her. For the first time in days a hopeful smile spread across her face. Food and water could be held here, her hunger and thirst problem can finally be over with, for now.
New found energy came through her from this new found hopefulness, she walked quickly toward the town with her worry's far behind her.
Entering the town; Lori went to what she believed may have been the town's main street, then scanned for a building that must've served food.
Lori soon sets her eyes upon on a building that's standing at a corner, it was hard to read with most of the letters broken off from the front, but seeing the burnt remains of what Lori thought were stands, she guessed that the building must've been a market.
Lori's stomach growled again over the aspects of food, Lori races as quickly as she can towards the building. Entering the market Lori was met with a very foul stench, so foul that it made her want to puke. The horrible stench is from the rotting food that were on the shelves, Lori plugged up her nose and she turned away from the market. "Ugh, gross."
Lori wanted to turn around, but the promise of something to eat has made her move into the market. The stench is stronger as she walked deeper into the market, it made her utterly sick, but she still stayed, she wasn't going to leave until she found something that is at least safe to eat.
She eventually got to the can section, but those were very scarce; for the people who had lived here had took most of them before running for the hills. There were only about five cans left, Lori took each of them off the shelve like a kid taking toys at a toy store, then she placed them in the bag she still somehow had despite her long travel.
Now with food in her bag, Lori races out of the foul stenching store, she ran all the way to the town square where she happily sat down on the ground and pulled out one of the cans. Like a mad person, Lori furiously tore off the lid, then ate the contents inside like a ravage animal.
The food felt good as it touched her tongue, it felt greater as the food traveled down her throat and into her awaiting stomach. Before she knew it, the can was empty from its content, even the juice was gone as Lori had drinked it.
Lori's stomach felt a bit better now that food is in it, but Lori knew that it wasn't going to stay satisfied for long, with how long she had went without food it was not silly to think that her stomach would demand food again shortly later.
But until that happened, Lori still have to find water. The juice had settled her thirst, but she really wanted a good drink of water. Lori gets up from the ground and leaves the town square in search for some water.
Exploring through town during her water search, Lori thought that she recognized this town as she may have drove past it during her journey to her dream college. If she remembered correctly, this town is close to a bridge that went across a river. If she can get to the bridge, then she'll be halfway on her journey towards home.
Lori picked up a brick and threw it through the window of a still standing house. Lori hoped that whoever had own this house wouldn't mind her breaking into it, then again with the post apocalypse, no one can exactly stop you from doing any crimes.
Lori climbed in through the window, once inside Lori felt a rather big chill for the temperature is much cooler and it's rather dark in here, she can hear the roof creak a bit from the ash that's collecting on it.
It felt rather weird to be in some stranger's house, it made the eldest Loud sibling think about what their life was before all this? Did they have a family? A pet? What friends did they have? Where did they work? And how did they take it when the asteroid was announced?
But now it's time to get down to the reason why she even broke into this house in the first place. Lori thought that maybe this house had some water in it somewhere, she traveled down into the kitchen first as that's the most obvious place to store water.
She opened up the fridge, but found that it was empty, the sides and drawers were also pretty much empty. After the fridge check; Lori checked everywhere else in the kitchen with no luck on the water.
Okay the kitchen was out, but there were plenty of rooms to check in, but she still had no luck. It wasn't until she came into the second floor bathroom that she had finally found some water. It wasn't the type of water she wanted as it was disgusting to even think about even touching it.
What water she is referring to, is toilet water that is completely filled within the bowel. The water looked clean, but nonetheless it's still in a toilet.
Lori looked at the water in grimness for of course the only water she had found in this town is from a toilet. "I may be thirsty for water, but I will not drink from the toilet like Charles or Lana. No force is going to make me do that." Lori looked away with her arms crossed.
Lori sat on a large single bed, feeling rather disgusted with herself, her thirst for water had been filled in the worst possible way for her. "I'm so glad no one saw me do that."
Lori shivered in disgust, she folded up her knees where she wrapped her arms around them and fell on her side in a ball. Some time later the comfy bed had caused Lori to fall into a more comfortable sleep for the first time in weeks.
Lori had dreamed herself at Lynn's Table with her family and boyfriend. They were gathered here to celebrate Lori's victory on that difficult hole.
It was a full swing party with all sorts of decorations on the walls, Lisa's robots served as waiters, while Lori's dad made his best dishes, including Lori's favorites. Lori happily talked with her family while Bobby sat close to her with his arms around her.
The party was great with all the laughs and smiles anyone could ever want, that is until a bright light from outside came shinning through the windows. Everyone went silent while they turned to look at the bright light that slowly faded in a eerie silence.
Lori, Bobby, and her family rushes over to the doors to see what had made that bright light. Opening the doors they were met with a large cloud of dust and hot smoke approaching them faster than the speed of sound, to Lori the cloud looked to have a monstrous face with red eyes, she screamed as the monster cloud hits them.
Lori awoke screaming loudly, she sat herself up fast and looked to the door of the room. At first as she looked around the room with question on where she was, memories of what had occurred previously, before she fell asleep filled her head.
Slowly stretching out her body, Lori sat on the bed thinking about that horrible dream she had. It looked like that cloud from the shockwave had somewhat traumatized her, she couldn't blame herself from how close to death she had came.
Lori sat there for a bit more, before eventually getting off the bed and walking towards a fogged up window where she looked out to see a ground covered in volcanic ash. "Gosh, that ash literally covered the ground quickly."
Although what Lori didn't know however is that she had been asleep for a full day and night, her body was just so comfortable on the bed, that it just shut down.
Lori however shrugged it off, she went over to her bag that she had set next to the doorway, she picked it up and went over to the kitchen, pulled out a can where she proceeded to eat at the kitchen table.
Much time later; Lori exited the town that had saved her life for the time being, next stop ahead is the bridge which is a good miles away. Lori had calculated in her head that if she kept up a good pace, she could be able to reach it before nightfall.
Ash still came down like snow around her, but Lori had found a way to combat this. Just before leaving the house, Lori had rummaged through the first floor closet where she had found a mask that is still wrapped in its plastic container.
Lori took it out and placed it around her face, the mask proved to be salvation as it protected her from the falling ash.
Lori finally arrived at the bridge at her designated time. Looking down the bridge Lori could see it swing slightly against the wind and there were parts that were missing. Why by the looks of it, the bridge seemed like it is going to collapse by any day now.
Lori stood there very hesitant to cross the bridge, she was just too scared that it would collapse when she got to the middle part or most likely since it is starting to become more darker, accidentally fall through the missing chunks of the bridge.
Lori would have to wait till morning in order to cross it, that is if she is able to find her courage. She then settles herself inside a trailer of a turned over semi, the trailer is empty so whatever was in her must've been delivered or something else.
Lori looked out of the trailer to the night outside, ash is still falling in flurries, she wondered when this ash was going to stop? The wind soon picks up and blows the ash like snow in a blizzard, the sounds of the blowing winds soon drives Lori to a dreamless sleep.
"Alright Lori, just keep walking and don't look down, then you'll be on the other side before you know it." Lori slowly walked down the bridge, she was nearly to the halfway point of it. She would've been there sooner, if the fear in her wasn't making the poor teen go slower than molasses.
The bridge groaned, Lori felt goosebumps go through her as she froze on the spot, if the temperature wasn't already cold she would've felt a chill go down her spine.
"Come on Loud! Don't stop now! The bridge is just settling, so just calm down and keep moving!" Lori took in a long, hard breath to somewhat calm her nerves and then resume her slow walk across the bridge.
The wind howls and blows all around her, the ash collects on her coat's shoulder pads. Eventually Lori makes it to the halfway point of the bridge where unfortunately a great chunk is missing with the only thing still attached is a thin, steel girdle.
Lori looked down at the girdle and the rushing water below. It was going to be very crazy on what she was about to do, it made her legs shake like Jell-O.
She took a very slow step with her right foot on to the girdle, she lets out a loud gulp, then slowly moved forward and placed her other foot on it. Lori struck out her arms to balance herself, so not to fall. She moves by inches across it for she didn't dare move too fast.
The wind suddenly blows harder, Lori wobbles, she let out a short shout of panic as she struggles to keep her balance. Lori manages to just regain it, with her heart beating against her chest, Lori remains as stiff as a board.
"Snap!" The girdle moves as it is too weak to hold Lori's weight, the bolts buckle and snap. In pure panic Lori jumped for the other side just as the girdle falls, the top part of her made it, but is pulled back, Lori moved her hands to grip something.
The next thing she knew. The road moved backwards, then she briefly saw the underneath of the bridge before rushing water cut off her view.
The current sweeps Lori away, it thrashes her around as she struggled to hold in her breath. The current pushes her to the surface, Lori's head bursts out, she coughs and let out a big exhale. Lori tries to swim above the water, but the current is just too strong, it pulls her under again all the way to the bottom where Lori is slammed against it with her side. She was lifted up and then slammed against the floor again, this time on her back.
Water fills into her mouth and nostrils when she grunted, it was useless to spit it out as more water just came in. Lori is forced to the surface again, through her watery view Lori could only have a second to see the shape of a large rock, everything went red then to black.
The river traveled all the way into a lake and at the lake shore where the waves gently splashed onto the land. Lori got carried onto the muddy embankment, she is motionless, her mask was ripped away, she had bruises several places along her body with a big bump on her forehead, and her coat is ripped as well as soaked, and worst of all; her bag is missing.
A crow lands next to her, the crow cocked her head curiously, she steps hesitantly to the body. The crow pokes the shoulder with her beak. Suddenly Lori coughed up water, the sound she suddenly produced had made the crow fly off in fright.
Lori continued to cough up water, until at last it stops leaving Lori to slowly open up her eyes, moaning lowly as consciousness slowly came back to her. Lori's vision came to focus on the muddy ground, she then tried to get up but had only gotten up on her knees, before collapsing back onto her side and slipped right back into unconsciousness.
Hours passed before Lori came back into the land of the living, her head rang hard and her whole body ached. Lori laid on the ground for awhile more, then slowly got to her feet.
She felt dizzy and swayed a bit, she stumbles to stay on her feet, but then falls to her knees coughing up a pile of puke. Lori let out a wheezing breath for she didn't feel really good. Lori glances forward to the lake shore, it took awhile for her mind to register that she couldn't recognize where she was.
"Where am I?" She asked herself weakly.
Looking around all she can see is water and the same old wasteland that surrounded it. "No, am I lost?" Lori gets back to her feet, then wobbled her way, slowly up the embankment. On top she looked around, but couldn't recognize any of the land. It was true, she is truly lost.
"Oh great, where do I go now!" She cried.
The embankment collapses below her, causing Lori to roll back to the shore where she had woken up. There Lori had began to openly weep from all that happened to her, first from being thrashed around in the river, now she was somewhere unfamiliar, possibly even more further away from home. This situation has certainly taken for the worse for her, how was she supposed to find her way home now?
Lori pulled out her phone to look at the picture, but when she tried to turn it on, nothing happened besides the phone's screen glitching out before shutting down completely. Lori tried to turn it on again only for nothing to happen, the water had completely devastated it, something that Lori didn't like at the least and with how badly she is feeling already, it didn't add well.
Letting out an anguish scream of mixed anger and sadness, Lori with complete fury throws the phone at a rock which breaks the phone on contact. Lori punches the ground multiple times as all this stress makes her go into a mental breakdown.
The eldest Loud sibling loudly cries, she throws the mud into the lake, then goes into a coughing fit as ash had entered her mouth, the coughing then changes into a fit of crazy laughter that the Joker would've been proud of.
With a pointed stick now in her hands, Lori Loud walked down a path, away from the lake. Muttering to herself about all shorts of stuff from her family, Bobby, her college, to random things like what clothes she had worn last week.
Lori's walk brought her to a cave, after gathering some wood she went in there and started up a fire. Shortly afterwards Lori went out into the wilderness for a hunt, she manages to find a squirrel and caught it by spearing the sharp stick through it's small neck.
She brings the squirrel back to the cave and cooked it above the fire. When the squirrel was well cooked, Lori happily ate her meal while looking out of the cave's entrance with a little bit of a chuckle.
