Their dorms were located in the seventh-floor corridor, behind a portrait of a man eating a bowl of fruit. "I expect you two to get along this year," Dumbledore informed them, eyes twinkling behind his half-moon spectacles. Lily and James nodded, smiling innocently at him. He huffed a laugh before walking away.

"Password?" the portrait asked, staring at them.

"Sugar quills?" James suggested. Lily shrugged and the portrait nodded.

"Sugar quills it is, come in." With that the portrait swung open, revealing their dorms. The floor was covered in a deep maroon carpet, the walls a light cream. Dark wood made up the desks underneath the window, framed by large bookcases on either side. A fireplace was next to the door, already crackling happily, mismatched chairs surrounding it. A soft maroon sofa sat directly in front of the fireplace, a dark coffee table in front of it. A winding staircase was off to the left of the bookcases. Lily raced up the stairs ending in a hallway. Two doors sat opposite each other, the third directly across from the landing of the staircase. She went to the door that had Lily J. Evans on a gold plate. She opened the door smiling. A king size canopy bed with soft gold curtains. The dark wood had golden lilies carved into it. A vanity and a closet were against the wall to the left, both etched with the same golden lilies. Lily rushed to the door covered in the same gold curtains adorning her bed. Opening the door she breathed in the lovely fresh air. It cooled her skin, brushing her hair away from her face. She basked in it.

"Lils? You know we have to share a bathroom and everything yeah?" James asked her, suddenly appearing next to her. She startled before glaring at him.

"Yeah," she walked away, "oi, Potter?" She smirked.

"Hm?" He eyed her warily.

"Don't go through my stuff," she informed him before racing to the bathroom.

"Lily? LILY! Not fair! Lily!" James yelled after her, hitting the door and falling back when she slammed it. She locked it.

"Stop hitting the door! I need to shower!" She yelled at him, beginning to undress from her disgusting clothes.

"Lily Jane Evans! I have to use the bathroom! NOT FAIR!" He yelled back. She smirked taking in her surroundings, a large shower was in one corner, while the bath (approximately the size of a small pool) was in another. Directly across was another door leading to the toilet. A sink was on either side of the door Lily was leaning on. Lily walked into the shower, turning it on. Warm water hit her as she closed her eyes under it. After washing off she wrapped herself in a warm fluffy towel, she looked in the mirror. The blood had been washed off in the shower, new blood began to trickle down her face. She mended the cut with her wand, leaving a shining white scar. Placing her clothes in a clothes basket she stepped through the door. James was sprawled out on his stomach outside the door. He was breathing deeply, Lily assumed he was sleeping. She kicked him lightly, he blinked slowly. "Merlin, finally," his voice was deep with sleep. Lily swallowed. He stood up and stretched, giving Lily a view of a tan sliver of skin. She leaned against the door inspecting her nails when he tried to enter. "Lilyyyyyyy," he whined.

"Hm?" she hummed, smirking slightly.

"Please move, Lils, I need to go to the bathroom, this isn't fair!" James whined again, acting like a child.

"Mm, nope. How'd you know my middle name?" James glared.

"Lily, I know lots of things, I have my sources," James told her, making a shooing motion at her.

"Not good enough, how did you know?" She smiled at him. He glared at her.

"Lily-flower, light of my life, firecracker," James pleaded, "just let me by and I'll tell you."

"Mhm, mhm. Or you could just tell me and I'd let you by," Lily informed him before placing her chin on his chest and wrapping her arms around him. She pouted up at him, exaggeratedly. He sighed, hugging her around the shoulders.

"Not playing fair, my Lily-love. Snape told me. Third-year," James said. Lily squeezed him, then let him go.

"Goodnight James Fleamont Potter," she leaned up, kissed his cheek, then slipped off into her room. She dressed in transfigured pajamas, starting to brush out her hair. When her door slammed open she startled dropping her brush. She glared at James, slowly taking in the water dripping down his chest to where the towel was hung low on his hips. Oh, sweet merlin have mercy. "Honestly Potter, you should've knocked. I could've been undressed!" Lily glared at him, ignoring her body's reaction to how James looked.

"Oh I would've enjoyed that," James informed her pointing with one hand and running fingers through his hair with the other. She threw her hairbrush at him.

"Put some bloody clothes on. Merlin."

"Nah, I'll pass. How'd you know my middle name?" Lily banged her head against the desk.

"Accio James Potter's pajamas," when the pajamas flew into her hand she thrust them towards James.

"Ah, thanks, love." There was shuffling and a thump with a muttered shit. Lily snorted, looking up when someone began to brush her hair. James had not put a shirt on. It was slowly driving her crazy. "What are you thinking so hard about?"

"How do you know I'm thinking hard?" Lily asked, looking up to meet his face in the mirror. He pressed a finger in between his brows.

"You got your test face on. You furrow your eyebrows and you scrunch your nose," James talked as if it was normal to know that.

"How do you know that?" she asked, tilting her head. James' ears turned red and he hustled out of the room. She laughed at his weird behavior. She picked up the hairbrush from where James dropped it and set it on her vanity. She picked up his shirt from where it fell and placed it on the vanity as well. She tucked herself into the huge bed. Lily shuffled into the middle and sighed. A sudden pop had her shooting up in bed.

"Sorry missus, here is your trunk and your companion. They was taken off the trains," a house-elf told her. Her trunk was placed on the floor near the closet. Chewy, shaken up but relatively okay, sat on the edge of her bed still in his cage.

"Thank you very much, what is your name?"

"Name is Olympy, Missus Head Girl," the house-elf, Olympy, said.

"Thank you very much, Olympy," Lily smiled. Olympy nodded and popped away. Lily unlocked the cage and cuddled Chewy close to her chest. "I'm so very glad you are okay, Chewy. I was so worried." Chewy meowed and pushed up underneath her chin. Lily laid down cuddling Chewy. She was almost asleep when her door opened. The intruder tripped and smacked straight into the floor. Lily grabbed her wand and turned the lights on. James was sprawled out on her floor.

"Hey, love. I forgot my shirt."

"It's on the vanity, merlin. You've got to be the clumsiest boy on the planet," Lily sighed out, laying back down. James pushed himself off the floor and grabbed his shirt. He flopped onto her bed, squishing her feet. "Oh get off you big oaf!"
"Goodnight Lily, sorry for waking you up," he apologized, rolling off her bed. She rolled her eyes.

"You are forgiven, go away," she whined.

"Pinky promise?" She hooked her pinky to his, he yanked it towards her. He kissed her finger with a wink then he was gone. Lily sighed.

"Chewy, this is getting complicated. Everything is so complicated," she complained, closing her eyes against the world.

Lily woke with the sun shining directly in her eyes. She growled at it, hoping it would make it go away. She stuffed her face in a pillow before resigning to her fate. Chewy stared at her from the edge of the bed, unimpressed with her dramatics. She got ready for the day, braiding her hair with a twist of her wand. Lily stowed her books into her bag, shoving her wand in the side pocket of her sweater. She pressed a kiss to Chewy's head, then slipped out her door. Deep snores were still rumbling from James's room. Lily snorted to herself before heading down to the Great Hall for breakfast. Her friends and one Emmeline Vance were seated at Lily's usual spot. "Hey, Lily! Have you seen Potter? I need to talk to him about Quidditch tryouts," Emmeline asked, her green eyes twinkling.

"I haven't, he was snoring when I left, sorry Em," Lily told her, piling her plate with food.

"And how would you know that Red?" Lily glared up at Sirius. He saluted her and took a seat.

"How do you think, Black?"

"He is quite loud, morning Lily, Alice, Mary, Em, Marls. Where's Dorcas?" Remus greeted, sitting across from Lily and next to Sirius. Marlene rolled her eyes.

"Sleeping, I'm sure, then she's going to expect me to bring her breakfast," Marlene laughed.

"You are though, aren't you?" Alice pointed out smugly. Marlene glared and huffed into her porridge. The table laughed.

"Lils, how was last night?" Mary asked all innocent eyes. Lily glared.

"Oh yes Red, tell us all the details," Sirius leaned across the table batting his eyelashes.

"Bugger off, nothing happened, and if it did I wouldn't tell you leeches," she told them all, shoving a muffin in her mouth.

"Why are they leeches?" Lily choked on her muffin. "Attractive Lily-flower," James informed her, sliding into the spot next to her. She glared harshly.

"Lils, you have to show us your dorm! Girl's night next Saturday?" Marlene said. The other girls nodded and then the conversation moved to Quidditch. Lily rolled her eyes, trying to ignore James's knee slightly pressing into hers. A welcome distraction came in the form of Professor Minerve McGonagall. She placed Lily and James's timetables in front of them, before handing them both a stack.

"Pass these out. Come to my office during your free periods. We can discuss Head business then," McGonagall said, smiling in her tight-lipped way. Lily skimmed her timetable, nodding to herself before shoving it in her bag. Lily and James began passing timetables out. They were almost done when a loud conversation made itself known to Lily.

"He is so, so, hot, Rach. Just look at that jaw," one girl complained, her brown hair flipping over her shoulder arrogantly.

"He only likes Lily Evans. You have no chance Elena," 'Rach' told her harshly.

"One can dream, I mean look at him. And he's Head Boy now," Elena whined, staring at James who had obviously heard the conversation. His ears were red.

"I mean I don't even see what he sees in that mudblood slut. She isn't even pretty," Rach stated glaring at Lily. Lily rolled her eyes and handed out their timetables.

"Not nice to talk so loudly and rudely ladies," James informed them with a glare before moving on. The girls huffed and glared. Lily wiggled her fingers at them before taking her seat and finishing her meal. James elbowed her over. "You alright? Those girls don't know what they are talking about. I see lots of things in you." He winked at her. She shoved him off the bench. The group laughed at his expense.

"Bugger off with the flirting Potter," Lily said, snorting when he put his hand in his porridge trying to get up. He huffed and began talking to Sirius. I wonder what he does see in me, she thought to herself, dismissing the thought hurriedly. What do I care what he thinks of me, he's just an arrogant toerag. Is he though? He hasn't bullied anyone since last Christmas Break. Unimportant, what about the six and a half years before that? He is maturing, give him some credit. Lily sighed to herself, this is why I need a girls' night, only two days back in his presence and I'm already running circles in my mind about him. Emmeline nudged her side.

"Snape is staring at you again. It's creepy Lils." Lily looked up, meeting her former friend's eyes. She glared at him.

"He can bugger off too for all I care, let's get to lessons. I don't want to be late," Lily stated, gathering her stuff. The group quickly followed. Sirius looked around.

"Hey, where's Pete?" Everyone glanced around and shrugged. "Weird. Could've sworn he wasn't in the dorm this morning." Sirius shrugged, "onward to lessons my mateys, full steam ahead." The group laughed at his dramatics, walking out of the great hall, unaware the person they were looking for was lurking in the shadows.

Lily was exhausted by the time dinner was served. The first day of lessons was never easy, especially after a long holiday. Add her meeting with McGonagall, all Lily's responsibility was out the window. She flopped into her seat, resting her head on one hand. "Hey, Lily." She looked up sluggishly.

"Go away, Severus. I don't want to talk nor do I care to hear your half-brained apology," she told him, not even bothering to be polite.

"Bug off Snivellus," Sirius sneered at him. Severus stalked away with a huff.

"Didn't need the rescue, Black."

"Sure Evans, whatever you say," he told her, watching as her head dipped down. "If you hurry and eat, you can nap before your patrols tonight. I'll even sneak food to you later." Lily blinked at his rare sincerity.

"Thanks, Sirius," she said, shoving food in her mouth and leaving.

"What was that about?" Remus asked from Sirius's other side, sitting down.

"Just being charming as usual Moons," Sirius said, nosing Remus's arm like a puppy. Remus rolled his eyes, patting Sirius's head.

Patrols, even with the nap and the snuck food, were awful. Every couple, it seemed, wanted to celebrate the first day of lessons. Lily only got small glances of James every now and then on her patrols, he always made some weird face at her to make her laugh in the small hours of the morning. They stumbled to bed with sluggish goodnights. By the end of the first week, Lily was already ready for Christmas break. Two whole weeks of sleep. She could see it now. She was counting down the days.

This ended up longer than I meant it. Hopefully, you guys like it. Also, I just rediscovered how to add line breaks and I remembered to add a disclaimer, I am proud of myself. To be honest, I have no set plan for updates, I write when I can right now, I was sick these past couple of days so I did not upload. Anyway here is chapter four. Wish me luck in sending out my application. I know I'm late but I'm lazy what can I say. Please review, I want to know your thoughts!
