When I woke, he was sitting next to me, petting me, looking lovingly at me.
"H-Haru…" I choked out. "You stayed."
Haru chuckled. "Silly girl. I told you. I'll never leave your side."
I laughed a bit too. It hurt to laugh, and he noticed. Haru stilled my laughs with a hand.
"Don't do anything that hurts." He kissed my forehead.
I frowned. "But all the best things hurt."
Haru sighed. "Don't I know that…"
"Then is this pain too much for you? The pain of love?"
Haru glared at me. "Why would you think that?" He was snarling again, but then he calmed down. "I'm sorry. It just…makes me angry, that Akito made you feel that way."
"Going against Akito now?" I croaked in my weak voice. "You rebel."
Haru laughed. "I'm the rebel? You're the one who landed yourself in the hospital, silly girl." He booked my nose.
"Yeah well, people do crazy things…" I lifted my head, my lips brushing his. "When they're in love."
We kissed, and for a moment the pain seemed to melt away.
But the battle was coming, I knew this, and I wasn't going to go it alone this time. I wasn't going to be stupid and reckless. I loved Haru, and love was the greatest of all powers.
Love, always love.
