Meanwhile, speaking of the sisters...
"Ugh... Where am I?" Zofia groaned as she rubbed her head before looking up and all around. "Huh? Are we in the movie?"
"That wouldn't surprise me." Estelle replied.
"Hey, it's good to see other girls on the team." A voice said to them as she found them.
"Huh?" asked Zofia. "Who said that?"
A redheaded woman soon came out to see them.
"Um, hey." Estelle said.
"Mira Nova!" Maxima beamed.
"Yep, that's what they call me," Mira replied. "Aren't you three a bit young to be in here with me?"
"Heh... It's kind of a long story..." Estelle smiled sheepishly.
"Yeah... Long story..." Zofia added. "You see, we-"
"This is so cool!" Maxima beamed. "I'm actually standing here with Mira Nova from Buzz Lightyear of Star Command!"
"...Pardon?" Mira asked from that.
"Uh, don't worry about us," Estelle smiled sheepishly as she grabbed Maxima on her shoulder to calm the younger girl down. "We're, uh, sorta new around here."
"Ah, right," Mira replied. "Well, you'd best be careful on your way out of the training hall. Don't wanna get zapped by the defense grid."
"Oh, don't worry, I'm sure we'll be careful." Estelle reassured.
Mira nodded to that as she went to go to training and the girls followed after her.
Up on the observation station, Commander Nebula arrived to observe the new recruits aboard the training deck. "Cadet Flarn, watch your tail, son!" he called to a rookie.
"Hmm?" asked the rookie, Flarn, before a robot grabbed his tail and slammed him into the wall as he yelled something unintelligible, before he was shot with a gravity-defying space goo gun on the ceiling and the goo made him levitate up through a hole in the ceiling.
"You people try that kind of hot-doggin' in the field, and you're space dust!" snapped Comm. Nebula over the P.A. system.
Buzz slid down a tube with the boys and landed in front of the commander, giving a salute. As the commander turned away from the glass window, another background space ranger smacked into the window and slid down after crashing.
"Commander Nebula." said Buzz.
"Ah, Lightyear," said the man in charge, turning to face Buzz. "I've got something I want you to see," It was then that his eyes landed on the three boys. "...Who are the youngsters?"
"We're a little new around here," Akito replied. "But I'm Akito and these are good friends of mine: LJ and Maximus."
"Commander Nebula." Maximus beamed to himself.
"You can trust us," Akito saluted. "We may not be official Space Rangers, but we won't let you down during our visit."
"Hmm... Very well..." Commander Nebula replied. "You just better not be spies from Zurg, or else you'll have to deal with me."
"What have you got for us to see then?" Akito soon asked.
"Alright!" Commander Nebula soon called over the PA. "We're cranking it up to Level 9, people!"
"Bring it on." Mira smirked to herself.
"Just like training with Ace and Lexi." Estelle said to herself.
"Estelle?" Akito blinked as he thought he heard his sister's voice.
"Guess you were right," LJ remarked. "They are here after all!"
"I knew that had to be the case." Akito nodded.
More goo guns were soon lined up as more robots appeared and more ramps popped out of the wall.
"Level 9? Commander, they're only rookies," Buzz told his superior. "Come on. I train on Level 9."
"I know." Commander Nebula replied indifferently.
Giant balls soon rolled out from the ceiling and some rookies took flight with their jetpacks, only to be caught in red electric nets. A trap door opened from under Mira and three rookies, and they jumped out, with Mira escaping the green laser beams. They instead hit the three rookies and then floated up through the ceiling. Estelle and Zofia kept an eye on Maxima while Estelle suddenly had flashbacks of Acmetropolis. One space ranger tried to fly away from a rolling ball, but got caught in. Another one ran away from a rolling ball, only be stuck in it. Then like bubbles, the balls carrying three rookie Space Rangers floated through the ceiling. Then three space rangers flew into a wall.
From behind, Mira got snagged by the robot. "Hey!" she then complained before she shot the robot, then looked around as it appeared that she was the only Space Ranger left in the room. "Hmm..."
"She's really great," Akito remarked. "Reminds me a lot of Lexi Bunny."
"She does have plenty of moxie," LJ agreed.
Commander Nebula looked impressed, then spoke into the microphone once again. "Level... 10."
A look of pure horror crossed Buzz's face, as a massive robot emerged from the floor.
"Huh? Oh..." Mira realized, seeing the robot behind her. "Oh. Oh..." she turned to see another robot rising from the floor. "Oh, okay."
As she was about to fire, she looked behind her to see a robot head locking onto her location. Then both robots' chests flew open, revealing rapid-fire machine guns, which they used to shoot Mira with piles of blue goo.
"Oh!" Buzz exclaimed. "Well, I guess we couldn't expect a rookie to..."
But Commander Nebula cut him off. "Uh! It ain't over." he said, as the pool of goo began to glow, and some of the residue in form of a body floated through the ceiling.
Mira, using her Tangean ghosting powers, rose from the floor, revealing herself in her blue and green jumpsuit. She ran and jumped into a robot from behind, then popped out from the front, tearing out its electric cord. Then she jumped and did a somersault, ripping out another robot's electric cord from the front. So, she jumped off and flipped again, as the middle robot hammer fisted the two malfunctioning robots, and its head exploded, with its body collapsing on the ground. LJ, Akito, and Maximus each held up a "10" sign in response.
"Very cool." Akito approved.
Zofia, Estelle, and Maxima were also very impressed.
"How did she do that?" Buzz asked.
Mira soon rose up from inside of the robot and dusted off her bare hands.
"She's from the planet Tangea." Commander Nebula informed.
"Of course, Tangean ghosting powers," Buzz realized with a nod. "Excellent."
"Yeah," Commander Nebula nodded. "Let's see one of Zurg's robots fly through a wall."
"Ranger Mira Nova reporting for duty, sirs." Mira soon saluted them as she approached the two men.
"Mira Nova?" Buzz repeated the name as it caused him to remember something. "Strange coincidence. Isn't that also the name of the heir to the Tangean throne?" he then asked. "I met her once."
"You saved my planet once." Mira smirked as it wasn't a coincidence.
"Buzz, meet your new partner!" Commander Nebula then said.
The boys each shared a discomforted wince.
"Partner?!" Buzz exclaimed, mortified.
Mira extended her hand to Buzz. "Sir, what you did for my people, it inspired me to join." she explained.
"No." replied Buzz firmly.
Mira looked confused. "No?"
"'No' what?" asked Comm. Nebula.
"No partner. Too risky." Buzz replied.
"I guess he's still sore about Warp." Akito commented.
"I think that's right." LJ nodded.
Estelle, Zofia, and Maxima soon came over which made the boys beam before they ran up to their sisters and hugged them instantly.
"Ah, Buzz," Commander Nebula sighed before coming to the younger Space Ranger. "Look, son, I know you're still torn up about Warp, but next time you're out there-"
"And Zurg aims for me?" Buzz glared slightly. "What's to keep the princess or the kids from ending up like Warp?"
"YEAH?!" Commander Nebula glared back angrily. "WELL, MAYBE IT'S THE PRINCESS AND THE KIDS WHO ARE KEEPING YOU FROM ENDING UP LIKE WARP!"
"Okay, hello?" Mira glared from that. "'The Princess and the kids' have names!"
"Yeah, I'm sorry, Prince-Mira! I work alone." Buzz groaned in frustration.
Mira glared off at Buzz. "So, you're gonna stop Zurg all by yourself?" she asked.
"That's the general plan." Buzz replied.
"But Regulations clearly state-" Mira started, before Buzz whipped around.
"I know Regulations; I WROTE HALF OF THEM!" Buzz shouted. "But as long as Zurg is gunning for me, anybody close to me is gonna get caught in the crossfire."
Comm. Nebula nodded. "Noted. But Buzz, there's one thing you should know..." he stated.
"Yes, Commander?" asked Buzz.
"YOU ARE NOT GOING OUT THERE WITHOUT BACK-UP!" came the reply, in yell form, no less, as Buzz headed to the doorway.
"I'm sorry, Commander," Buzz replied. "But from now on, Buzz Lightyear flies solo." And he was sucked into the pneumatic tube once more.
LJ sighed. "Whoof... Poor guy." he remarked.
"He doesn't know what he's missing," Akito frowned. "He needs a team. Also, girls, it's good to see you."
"Maximus, are we in the show now?" Maxima asked her twin brother.
"It sure looks like that," Maximus replied before gushing. "This is so cool though! I can't wait to tell everybody in school, especially Francine Nebulon!"
"We should help out, even if Buzz is being a hard case right now," Zofia suggested. "It's the right and honorable thing to do."
"He'll come around on his own time," LJ replied. "No point in forcing things."
The others nodded from that.
"Where do we go now?" Estelle wondered.
"I guess we'll just explore and help keep away from Zurg." Akito shrugged.
"I think we can do that." Zofia replied, as she and the others walked off through Star Command HQ.
Akito and Estelle nodded as they looked all around.
"Reminds you of Acmetropolis, huh?" LJ guessed.
"Yeah, it really does, especially when visiting outer space," Akito replied. "Sometimes I miss living in their tower briefly before Zadavia and Optmatius were all taken care of, so there wasn't much of a need for us anymore."
"And the Loonatics became the Guardians of the Galaxy." Estelle added.
"Pretty sure another group had the copyright on that title reserved..." LJ remarked. "But I digress."
They soon walked around and did what they could as they were now apart of the story. An alarm soon went off as we are shown the Star Cruiser Launch Bay.
"All personnel, clear the Launch Bay," A woman announced on the PA. "Star Cruiser 36 prepare for launch."
After the announcement, the roof opened up as a rocket got ready for take-off and blasted off into space.
There was then a giant red toad-like creature peeking his head out from behind a wall. His name was Booster. He soon noticed six LGMs not looking and walked out from behind with an electric polisher.
"Crystallic fusion modules needed on Pad 14." The woman's voice continued.
The six LGMs soon turned around and see the red toad.
"Uh..." The red toad smiled nervously and went to polish the floors as hoped that the LGMs wouldn't catch him snooping around.
"Hello." The green aliens greeted.
"I'm just cleaning the floor and stuff." The red toad smiled nervously.
"Clean is gooood." The LGMs then told him.
"Rocket away," The woman soon continued. "All personnel may return to the Launch Bay."
The red toad chuckled nervously just as the LGMs walked through the doorway that revealed the Launch Bay itself. The red toad then took a peek inside and was easily amazed at the sight of a Star Cruiser. "Wow! An Andromeda Class Star Cruiser!"
"Ambassador escort patrol is scheduled for launch at 0900." The woman then announced.
During his awe and amazement, the red toad released his polisher as he entered the room, which slid out of the shot and hit someone. "This is too cool!" he then grinned.
"You there!" The Corporal glared sharply. "The Launch Bay is for Authorized Personnel only!"
"I was just, uh..." The red toad smiled nervously and tried to polish the floor. "Oh, man."
"Just like I figured," The Corporal glared. "Guess what, pal. You're through!"
"Booster!" Maxima and Maximus beamed from where they were.
"He's not through unless I say so." announced Buzz, firmly.
The Corporal quickly saluted. "Captain Lightyear!" he exclaimed.
Booster gave an astonished gasp. "Buzz...!"
Buzz ran a finger across the surface and inspected it. "Ugh! Space dust. This place is filthy. And it goes right to the sub-atomic level. That's why this young man is in here with his molecular mop. Carry on, custodian."
Booster gave a salute. "Oh, yes, sir!" he exclaimed happily as he got back to work... Until he dropped his cheerful facade.
Maxima and Maximus soon smirked a bit at the Corporal.
"My mistake, sir." The Corporal saluted nervously.
"As you were, Corporal," Buzz nodded firmly before he soon came to the red toad who was his #1 fan, next to maybe Maximus of course. "Come on, Booster. This is the third time this week. You're really not authorized to be in here, son."
"Oh, I know, but I like to look at the Star Cruisers!" Booster gushed. "I just wanna be a space ranger so bad, Buzz!"
"Now, don't you worry. You'll pass the entrance exam, Booster," Buzz reassured. "You just need to study the-"
"Space Ranger Mission Manual? Oh, I am, sir!" Buzz beamed as he took out a copy of the book that was mentioned. "I memorize one page every night! Right now, I'm up to Section Five, Subsection Beta," he then said as he picked up the mop and spoke boldly with a heroic pose. "'Light speed limits. More than just a good idea, it's the law'."
"Outstanding!" Buzz approved.
"Oh, thanks, Buzz!" Booster beamed.
"Heh... He kinda reminds me of Elyse's father." Zofia commented.
"The resemblance is quite uncanny..." LJ nodded.
Buzz's wrist communicator beeped, and he answered it.
"Buzz Lightyear, to Science Bay." spoke one of the LGMs.
"On my way!" Buzz replied before he closed his communicator. "Gotta run, Booster." and he took off.
Booster gasped. "Yes, sir!" he exclaimed, before holding his breath. A few seconds later, Buzz walked back into the shot briefly.
"Uh, Booster?" he asked.
"Yes, sir?" Booster grunted while holding his breath.
"At ease."
Buzz ducked out, and Booster exhaled, releasing his breath. "Thanks, Buzz!" he wheezed.
"You kids are still here?" Buzz asked once he saw the group.
"Sorry, we have nowhere else to go." Estelle replied.
"Yeah." Akito nodded.
"This is probably very dangerous for you." Buzz warned.
"You can still trust us," Zofia replied. "We've faced worse than Evil Emperor Zurg."
"Speaking from experience." LJ added.
Buzz said nothing, but he continued on his way to the Science Bay.
"I hope that means he trusts us." Akito shrugged to himself.
Much, much later in Star Command...
"What's up, fellas?" Buzz asked, coming to the Science Bay as he had some familiar company.
"We heard about your fight with Commander Nebula." One LGM spoke up.
"Now, it wasn't a fight. It was just a professional disagreement," Buzz replied. "And in time, he'll admit that I'm better off alone."
"We have solved your partner problem!" The LGM then piped up happily with his friends.
"Not you guys too," Buzz groaned as he crossed his arms. "Look, I can't have a 'partner problem' because I don't have a partner!"
"But XR is perfect for you." The LGM pouted, hanging his head in sadness with the others.
"XR?" Buzz, LJ, Akito, Estelle, and Zofia repeated curiously.
"Who's XR?" asked Buzz.
The LGMs got into a huddle and began whispering amongst one another before turning back to face Buzz.
"Not 'who', 'what'," explained one. "Witness the future of Space Justice!"
"XR!" another exclaimed. "The eXperimental Ranger...!"
"Ohh... Clever..." Akito and Estelle remarked in unison.
The two LGMs soon walked off the stage and smoke came out as the door opened.
Buzz and the kids soon saw a figure with green eyes lighting up with some yellow as the being had wheels for feet.
"XR, reporting for duty." XR stated as he soon rolled out to meet Buzz.
"Kind of short, isn't he?" Buzz remarked.
The LGM next to XR soon did a height comparison to see that XR was not much taller than he was. "Hmm... Do you think so?" he then asked.
"That little robot wouldn't stand a chance against Zurg's forces of evil." Zofia remarked.
"Watch!" The LGMs told her as they took out blasters and blew the little robot to pieces. Then, a car crusher squashed the broken machine, save for one arm, which got squashed by an LGM riding a robo-walker.
"I rest my case," Zofia replied, before the LGMs quickly got to work, reassembling XR in only a few short seconds.
"If Zurg blows up XR..." said one LGM.
"WE CAN PUT HIM BACK TOGETHER!" The other LGMs proclaimed.
"Wouldn't stand a chance, eh?" asked LJ.
"Well, all right," Zofia then said. "Color me impressed."
"Brilliant!" Maxima and Maximus both beamed.
"Well, at least they're more positive." Estelle teased Zofia.
"And Commander Nebula approved a robot ranger?" Buzz asked as he took a closer look at XR. "Well, he doesn't exactly know."
"He does now! Hmph!" Commander Nebula glared as he suddenly appeared, much to the scared surprise of the LGMs.
"Oh... Hello, Commander!" The LGMs greeted nervously as they stood in front of XR.
"So, you went ahead and built that expendable ranger." Commander Nebula soon said.
"Uh, 'experimental' ranger." One of the LGMs corrected.
"UNAUTHORIZED RANGER!" Commander Nebula shouted angrily.
"Uh... Well, technically, it was authorized... By you." One LGM spoke up nervously as he brought out a clipboard to the bigger man. "We slipped it in with our vacation request." Another LGM added.
"Craters. They always get me that way!" Commander Nebula grumbled angrily in defeat. "I keep telling them, no bucket of bolts can stand up to a real ranger."
"He's got you there, fellas." Buzz smirked slightly.
"We thought of that," said the right LGM, pressing a button that made XR's circuit chip pop up. "Artificial Intelligence chip. XR is programmed to watch and learn. And he'll be learning from the best: YOU!"
"I gotta say, this XR sounds pretty cool." Akito commented.
"Yeah, and what a cute little model," Estelle smiled. "Almost reminds me of WALL•E."
"Or Robot Jones," Zofia added before looking thoughtful. "Hey, whatever did happen to Robot Jones anyway?"
"True... But, uh... I don't know." Buzz crossed his arms.
"I don't know." XR repeated in a monotone voice before crossing his arms too.
"At least give him a test run as your new partner." Maximus suggested.
"Lightyear, I already told you!" Commander Nebula suddenly growled. "Ranger Nova is your new partner!"
"Why won't anybody listen to me?!" Buzz snapped as he had enough. "NO! MORE! PARTNERS!"
"I thought Dad already told us what happened to Robot Jones," LJ said. "Trapped in stasis for years after his show was cancelled, but after Crossover Nexus, he was restored to his regular self."
"Oh... Right..." Zofia then said. "Anyway, back to the task at hand."
"But Buzz!" The LGMs pouted before they froze in place as their antennas danced.
"What's eatin' them?" Commander Nebula asked out of confusion.
"And what are they doing with their eyes?" Akito added.
"I've seen this before," Buzz replied. "It's the 'Mind Link'."
"Evil!" The LGMs droned as they looked wide-eyed and zombified.
Buzz thought about what they could be talking about before it hit him. "Zurg!"
"Of course!" Maximus glared as he slammed his fist into his hand. "I should've known!"
"He must be attacking their homeworld!" LJ exclaimed. "That's the only reason they'd be reacting so... Erratically."
"Oh, no!" Zofia gasped.
Maxima and Maximus also looked concerned. LJ was soon proved right as the LGMs warned the others.
"His dark forces invade our homeworld!" The green aliens cried out.
"I'm on my way!" Buzz declared as he ran out of the Science Bay. "Since you children claim to be well-experienced and say you've faced worse than Zurg, you're coming along too."
This made Maximus and Maxima very excited as LJ, Zofia, Akito, and Estelle went after Buzz before having a little more company along with them.
"I'm on my way." XR repeated in his monotone, going after Buzz.
Soon, the group was aboard Buzz's ship, as the pilot opened his wrist-com.
"Buzz Lightyear mission log: Zurg's shadow looms overhe..." Buzz started, as XR continued repeating everything he said.
"Could you not do that?" asked Buzz.
"Could you not do that?" repeated XR.
"...This is gonna be a loooooong trip..." Akito remarked, as the ship blasted into hyperdrive and flew off to the LGM homeworld.
"Could be worse," Estelle sighed. "We could be accompanied by the Doom Song."
Meanwhile, the LGMs were obviously under attack as they scattered all around from Zurg's attacks.
"The Uni-Mind!" Some LGMs cried out. "Quickly! We must get to the Uni-Mind! Run below! The Uni-Mind!"
A Hornet soon blew up one building and marched to the stairs.
The LGM from there was soon running away. "The Uni-Mind!"
"Protect the Uni-Mind!" Another LGM cried out. "We are one."
"We are united," The LGMs proclaimed together as they held hands to build a force-field around the Uni-Mind. "We are powerful! WE ARE-"
The Hornets then suddenly blasted through the roof, and the claw fell off.
"AFRAID!" The LGMs then cried out from that.
As the dust and debris settle, two LGMs had regained consciousness, and they pointed up to the sky. "Oh, no!" they exclaimed.
Hanging over them was a sinister-looking spacecraft, owned by a mysterious being.
"Hornets, move in." he ordered.
The Hornets marched to the edge of the broken road, and jumped in. The LGMs screamed as they ran from the falling droids, and the Hornets aimed their arms at the Uni-Mind. Suddenly, they were vivisected and blown up by a red laser from the sky. Above them, Buzz, XR, and the others hovered heroically in the air.
"At ease, little green citizens," announced Buzz. "Star Command is on the job!"
"Yaaaaay!" cheered the LGMs.
The Hornets aimed for Buzz and the others and opened fire. The group split up and shot on different sides. Buzz, LJ, Akito, and Maxima flew and shot from the left side, while XR, Zofia, Estelle, and Maximus flew from the right side.
"At ease, little green citizens," XR parroted while flying and firing. "Star Command is on the job."
Suddenly, from behind an LGM, the walls exploded one by one. The LGM noticed this and ran away, screaming. Then more Hornets began shooting.
"Our work's not done yet, XR!" Buzz told the little robot.
"So let's take out the trash!" LJ added.
"You guys just picked the wrong adventure allies to mess with!" Akito remarked as he took out his Loonatics sword like with his time with Ace Bunny.
Estelle's eyes then glowed a bright pink and white as she began to use a Brain Blast like Lexi Bunny did. They soon flew around together and some new blasts were shot at some Hornets, thanks to the adventure kids.
