Chapter 14

"Merlin, I hate those horrible NEWTS!" Genevieve yelled in frustration. They started to prepare for their final exams at Hogwarts.

Lily smiled at her exasperated friend and said "Don't be like that, the exams are for our own good!"

James looked at his girlfriend. "You're mad! Gen's right, they're dreadful."

Sirius laughed when Lily huffed at James. Sirius looked worriedly at Bo; she wasn't herself lately. Sometimes she was still distraught from her mother's letter. Sirius put his arm around Bo.

"Love, what's wrong?" He asked.

"My father hasn't said anything about it. I'm sure she told him." She said. Sirius looked at her plate.

"Honey, it's full. Why haven't you eaten yet?"

Bo pressed her lips together and replied "I'm not hungry."

Sirius sighed and said "I'll write to your father, if you promise me you'll eat."

Bo looked at him and smiled "You'll do that for me?"

Sirius chuckled and said "I'll do anything for you."

To their surprise, they had an audience. "Awwww!" their friends cooed and laughed. Sirius and Bo broke their gaze and laughed along.

"That's so sweet!" Sarah gushed. Bo smiled and looked again at her boyfriend. "I love you."

Sirius kissed her cheek and said "I love you too." They continued eating their breakfast, getting ready for another day of their last lessons.

During History of Magic, while most of the class was either asleep or trying their best to listen, Sirius had to discuss with Remus and James about his letter to Bo's father. "Listen Padfoot, just tell him that Bo's been upset lately, and tell him why. I'm sure he'll understand." Remus said.

"But what if he doesn't?" Sirius asked.

"Then let Bo talk to him. She can get to his weak spot." James replied.

"Everything will be fine." Remus smiled. Sirius smiled back at him.

Bo looked at Sirius and smiled. He was her savior, despite their situation. He made her feel better and confident about herself. She couldn't wait to get out of Hogwarts and live with Sirius, and raise their child. Before she noticed, a paper plane flew by her. She found out it was a letter from Natalie. She wrote that she was bored. Bo giggled quietly, looked at Natalie and nodded to her.

At lunch, they sat together and ate. Bo noticed Sirius was absent. She looked at Remus who said "He left to the owlery."

"Okay. I'll save him a plate." 'I wonder how dad will take this', she thought to herself.

Sirius was sitting on a bench in the owlery. He revised his letter to Alan Carter.

'Mr. Carter,

I don't know if Mrs. Carter told you, but Bo is pregnant. Bo expected a response or a reaction to this news. I see her every day, and I see her heart breaking. She wants to keep the baby, and yet her mother defies her. She doesn't need you to ignore her too. She wants the family she always had.

Sirius Black'

"That's enough." he muttered to himself. He strapped the letter on his owl's leg and said "To Alan Carter." The owl fled and Sirius exited the owlery.

Sirius entered the Great Hall to eat lunch. As he walked to the Gryffindor table, he noticed Bo fixing him a plate with all his favorite things. He came up from behind and hugged her. She gasped a bit, but when she saw Sirius' face, she relaxed. "Thanks, love." Sirius said.

"Anytime" Sirius sat down next to her and ate.

"So, did you send the letter?" Sirius nodded.

Bo kept on asking "What did you write?"

Sirius stopped eating and answered "I told him that you're pregnant and that I expect him to reply in a certain manner."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, I want him to write back that he thinks. He can't be indifferent!"

Bo nodded. "You're right. That's why I'm upset."

Sirius stroked her cheek "I know."

After their last lesson of the day, they ran to the Great Hall to eat dinner. When they finished, they went to the common room to hang out. Remus and Natalie wanted to study in the library "Oh come on, Remmy! You have three weeks for that! Sit with us." Genevieve pouted.

"Natalie?! You, study? I'm surprised. I think Remus has a good impact on you." Alice giggled.

"I don't think they intend to study." Lily smirked. James, who was playing chess with Sirius, heard that comment, found a pillow and threw it at Lily. There was a deafening silence. "Wrong move, cousin." Natalie raised her eyebrows.

Lily came up to James. She sat on his lap and smiled. James looked into her eyes and smiled. He didn't seem to notice Lily's planned revenge. He kept on playing with Sirius, until unexpectedly Lily tickled him, causing him to knock over the chess set. "No! I knew you'd do that!" James laughed wildly. He tickled her back. The couple was laughing hysterically, along with their friends. After a few minutes, they calmed down. "Did you have to knock down the chess set?" Sirius said.

James shrugged and smiled apologetically. "You know I ticklish I am."

"Now we all know." Sarah grinned.

"Have you decided who will be the godfather?" Remus asked.

"Oh Moony, don't start this again!" Sirius exclaimed. Remus chuckled and left the common room with Natalie.

"And what about you, Bo? Who's the godmother?" Genevieve asked. Bo shrugged "I don't know."

"Obviously it's me!" Lily announced. Sarah huffed "It's me!"

It soon turned into a quarrel. "Girls! Stop it!" Bo cried out and looked at Sirius. "Now I see what you're going through."

In the morning, Sirius woke up to find a letter beside his bed. The window beside his bed was open, to reveal his owl screeching. Sirius opened the letter:

'Sirius,

Miranda didn't tell me that Bo's expecting, no. Clearly, this is a surprise, a bittersweet surprise. I confronted Miranda with this issue, and she wants nothing to do with it, but I on the other hand, will support you and Bo. It's important for you two to be responsible for your actions. I have an apartment for you in Hogsmeade to settle down in. I have one question for you: How do you intend to support my daughter?

And by the way, you know you can call me Alan.

Regards,

Alan'

Sirius walked to the bathroom. While brushing his teeth, his thoughts raced. He thought that he'll find a job and earn money. He seemed to forget that his family name carried significance. He belonged to the Black family, a pureblooded family, with a ruthless attitude towards muggleborns. He opposed their belief that wizards shouldn't mingle with "mudbloods", and their confrontations worsened. On his 16th birthday, Sirius ran away from home to live with the Potters. Since he was alone, Sirius had his own private account at Gringotts Bank. For a young wizard, he was wealthy. After he exited the bathroom, Sirius walked by his bed and looked at Alan's letter. 'What's the next thing besides a job?' He pondered. He thought about Bo. 'I don't see myself without her. She's everything to me. She's my past, present, and future.' He took a piece of parchment and a feather and wrote back:

'Alan,

I intend to propose to her.

Sirius'
