I hope you enjoy this one! And thank you for still coming back to read. A bit of news… I'm finishing up the last chapters of this medieval mess, lol… As soon as I finish them, I'll probably start updating two times a week again.
"I think we should have another wedding." Leia announces at breakfast. Instead of Rey, the King and Queen meeting in their private room, they are joining Ben's parents and Uncle Luke and Aunt Mara in the dining hall. "That way we can send a clear message to Snoke that the Princess and the Prince is safe."
"I agree with you," Aunt Jyn says. "We had everything arranged, we just need fresh flowers."
"Tomorrow morning?" Leia asks.
"Before lunch, then the celebration can last all day," Jyn adds. The two queens pick up their goblets and clink them together.
"This is why we don't let them plan every part of our lives," Rey says.
"Because they surely would," Ben finishes. "I think we need to send a group to Exegol."
Han tents his hands and exhales. "Do you know where his lair is?"
"I do." Ben meets his father's worried look. "But I think we should just send a several men, not the entire armies of Naboo and Alderaan. Bodhi Rock is skilled with falconry and using pigeons to carry messages. He is also a trustworthy leader and has grown to dislike Snoke as much as we do."
"Who else could we send with him?" King Cassian asks.
"Jacen is a young man ready for adventure. He is also quite skilled with a sword," Luke volunteers.
"Uncle? We could send Hennix, Tai and Voe," Rey adds.
"That's five young, capable fighting men," King Han confirms. "Send them out with the dawn?"
The rest of the royals nod and murmur agreement.

"I'm glad that I'm going to be at this wedding," Rose teases.
Rey picks up her stocking and throws it at her. "It was—magical the night we got married. I wore our tartan, his Uncle Luke handfasted us." Rey looks down at the pile of underthings they are sorting. Until the castle is rebuilt in Alderaan he's moving into her room with her. Which means she's cleaning out her chest to make room for his underthings. "It's weird though, I'm married now."
"A little, but I do think he cares for you a great deal."
"You think so?"
"I do. Not many royals would go to rescue their brides. They would just send their knights to do the job. You didn't see him that night after he killed—what was his name? Vicrul?"
Rey can't help the cold chill that dances down her spine. "Don't mention his name, please. He was so mean to me."
"But when Ben came back to himself, he was frantic. But that's good because we found you the next day."
"I've come to care for him a great deal too," Rey admits. She loves the way he touches her, kisses her, loves her.
"That's always good. What dress are you wearing?" Rose asks.
"I'm not sure. Do you think we could do something with the family tartan?"
"You know what would be beautiful? Your aunt's off-white linen dress with your tartan draped from your shoulder to your hip." Aunt Jyn's linen dress is simple but elegant. Medium length train, long flowing sleeves and the entire dress trimmed in blue satin.
"I've always wanted to wear that dress—"
"What dress?" Jyn asks as she pauses in the doorway. Rey's room used to be by theirs when they first came to the castle. When she turned fifteen, they gifted her a larger room further down the hall from them. Currently the King and Queen of Alderaan are in her old room.
"Your off-white linen one. Can I wear it tomorrow to marry Ben? Please?" Rey asks with grin.
"Let me go fetch it," Jyn replies with a smile of her own.
Rey and Rose giggle. "I wonder if tomorrow will be as romantic as it was the first time I married him."
"I think more so," Rose says. "I didn't tell you! Sir Hux has asked for permission to court me."
"He did? He must have asked Ben." She's happy and nervous for her friend. "Is that acceptable to you?"
Rose shrugs. "He's much nicer now that we've started to talk. And he did apologize for treating me the way he did. But then Ben also reprimanded him quite harshly, Finn said."
"It seems my lady's chambers are busy today." She hears from the hallway.
She knows his low baritones by now. "Rose, would you go see if you can help the Queen? I need to have a word with my husband."
Rose rushes out and Ben comes in. "Princess?"
Rey closes her door behind him. "Did you tell Hux that it was alright to court Rose?"
"Hux is a good man. When he told me about his desire to court—"
"You tell him that if he hurts her in any way, I'll show him how we take care of scum here in Naboo."
"Yes, Princess." He looks around their bedroom with that one brow raised. "What are you doing?"
A soft knock on the door is his answer. "Come in!" Rose enters with Aunt Jyn close behind.
"Well, this must be my hint to leave." Ben smiles as he sees what the Queen has in her hands. "Ladies, it seems that I need to be readying myself for tomorrow also." He pauses to kiss Rey on the cheek then he strolls to the door.
"Husband—I will come find you later." She tries to sound stern but promising.
"And I will be waiting for you," he mutters. Then he slips out into the hallway, closing the door behind him.
"It's a love match," Aunt Jyn breathes. "I'm so glad. It makes life so much better."
Brbrbrbrbr
"Have you seen Ben?" Rey asks Finn. She's been all over, looking for him and can't find him.
"He's out in the courtyard."
"No, he's not! I just looked—" her words trail off as she spots her husband. Who has his shirt off. Who is fighting several men. Who keep attacking him. With their sharp swords.
Panic like she hasn't felt since she left the dungeon in Alderaan washes over her.
"I'll be damned if I let that evil back into my kingdom," she says through clenched teeth as she grabs Finn's sword.
"Rey—"
She doesn't hear him as she runs to her husband. With a practiced hand, she knocks several of the other men on their backs. She blocks a blow, then ready to attack the one who holds the sword when an arm snakes around her waist pulling her off her feet.
"Rey—stop attacking our men."
"Our—" she stops moving and that's when she notices that she was attacking Poe who is being held by Hux. "Ben—" she mutters then bursts into tears. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I saw you being attacked, and I didn't want to go back to that dungeon—"
"You're not going anywhere," Ben whispers. "And I'm doing all I can to protect you." He turns her around so she can see him. A kiss and he wipes away her tears.
"Thank you." She buries her head in his chest. "Is everyone watching?"
"They are," he whispers in her ear.
"Let's go for a walk, my Lord?"
"Once you give your man, Finn back his sword." Finn must have overheard Ben because he accepts his sword, then trades another sword with Ben. "This one is mine."
"I'm glad that I have you to protect me."
He takes her hand and tucks it into his before he leads her towards the gate. When he's out of ear shot of everyone else in the courtyard, he leans over and whispers, "Where are we going?"
"Can we just walk? In the woods?"
"That sounds good." They are both quiet as they walk. "Do you remember me?"
She stops walking to give him a questioning look. "Of course, I remember you, husband."
"No, I mean from before, when we were younger."
"Wait, you would come to Naboo?"
"And I seem to remember a little girl with light brown hair coming to Alderaan."
She stops walking. "I think I do remember! You pushed me into the ocean when I was six."
"You wouldn't stop following me around!" He answers with a grin.
"I only wanted you to be my friend, if I remember correctly."
"That was a bad time for me," he tells her.
"Why? What happened?" She stops walking and tries to meet his eyes. But he won't look at her like he's ashamed of something. "Tell me?"
"Even then, Snoke's voice was in my head, always talking, always taunting. The only time it stopped was when I was with both of my parents. And because of him, I grew up a very angry young man." He tugs her close and puts his hand where their little one is. "I will do anything to keep that from happening to this one. That's why I can't rest until he's dead. I know deep in my bones that he can do all that to me, then he'll come after my children."
"That's awful!" She wraps her arms around him. He accepts her hug even though he feels that deep down, he's just as evil as Snoke. But then she touches him like she is now, and he knows that he is on the way to being redeemed.
Brbrbrbrbr
"We're already married," Rey says.
"But—"
"Aunt Jyn, please." She hates how easy her tears start these days. "Only Ben knows, but I've been having nightmares—and he helps—and I don't think I can sleep without him anymore."
"Oh Lamb! Why didn't you tell me?" Her aunt's strong and steady arms wrap around her. "What can I do to help?"
"I'm not sure? Is there a way we could get them to stop?"
"Time. I'm afraid that time is the only thing that will help. Let's go talk to Maz."
"Maz?" Rey parrots. "Do you think she'll have something to help?"
"We never know until we ask."
"Did I hear my name?" Finn's mother who must have been walking down the hallway chirps from the doorway.
"Come in," Jyn says. Suddenly nervous, Rey looks out the window. "Rey, it's alright to tell Maz. She was here when you were born after all."
"You've always been there for us," Rey agrees. "My earliest memories are of you and Finn."
"That boy loves you like a sister."
"And he's like a brother."
"How are you feeling?" Maz asks.
"The sickness tonic really does help. Now I just want to cry a lot and sleep. I can't get enough sleep."
"That's normal being pregnant. Eat more meat." Maz pauses to look at her the way she does where she can see what you ate for breakfast last week. "You've been having nightmares."
Rey nods as more tears spring to her eyes. "I don't even—"
"And you don't have to until you're ready." Aunt Jyn says. "You did this after your parents died. That's why your room was always so close to ours."
"I remember that," Rey whispers.
"And you know what the best remedy for bad dreams is?" Maz asks and Rey tearfully shakes her head. "That big, hunk of man you have."
"Alright, I get the hint," Aunt Jyn laughs. "I guess this entire marriage will be untraditional. But maybe, that's what we need."
"It might be," Maz agrees. "Now tell your old teacher, what are you going to be wearing tonight for the feast?"
"Feast? We're feasting tonight?" Rey asks as she wipes the last of her tears.
"Yes, they just announced it at lunch. The Skywalkers are cooking for everyone tonight to celebrate." Maz says. "Then tomorrow, we'll cook the feast for everyone."
"They always did like to have a celebration," Jyn adds.
"Two nights of partying? Should we go help?" Rey asks.
"I think Phasma and Kaydel are helping," Maz says. "Come now, let's get you dressed so you can celebrate."
Brbrbrbrbr
"Ben! Are you going to change?" Leia asks as he approaches the camp. Nana and Mara are currently supervising the cooking and tables are being set up.
He looks down at his tunic and leggings. The same ones he trained in. The same ones he walked in the woods with his wife in. "I'm fine," he huffs. His dad walks by them wearing the same thing Ben is, just where his is grey and black, Han's is a white tunic and black leggings. "Father's wearing the same thing."
"Fine, but you're wearing your finery tomorrow when you marry Rey again."
"I'm wearing the kilt that I married her in."
"Alright, I like that. Do you have a jacket?"
"I do not," Ben admits. When he left Alderaan, that was part of his old life that he left behind.
"We'll find one. Meet me at our wagon."
Brbrbrbrbr
Her second-best dress: A green linen that makes her look, well, beautiful. This time a smile in her mother's mirror as she readies herself to go meet her husband. Her hair is curled from the summer heat, but Rose fixed it so it looks nice and not wild.
She's tired of waiting so she follows the music she can hear coming from the outside.
The courtyard is full. She sees people that she loves. People who help in the castle are also here. Villagers. People she knows from the pub.
Then he comes. Her husband. he approaches and she reaches for him even though she saw him a couple of hours ago.
"You look amazing," he whispers in her ear as he embraces her.
"You look handsome." She grins. He's wearing his kilt, and a black shirt. but it's the way he looks at her—it's the way Uncle Cassian looks at Aunt Jyn "—And hungry. You look hungry."
"Well, someone wanted to go for a walk instead of eating lunch."
"Ben! Why didn't you tell me that you were hungry?"
"I was far more interested in the company," he murmurs as she flushes bright pink. He laughs, a big happy laugh that makes others stop to watch and smile.
And that's when she realizes that she's falling in love with him.
Maybe she already does love him.
So, she laughs too.
Brbrbrbrbr
"I still can't believe that she's already pregnant," Leia says.
"It's a miracle she survived, it's a phenomenon that she's still pregnant." Jyn looks into the fire. She's not sure where Rey and Ben are, the last she saw them they were still sitting at one of the tables with their friends.
"Ben and Poe swear that it's the water Snoke taught them to make." Amilyn muses. "But then in order to know the dark side, you have to know the light."
"I've heard that before," Jyn says. "But what does it mean?"
"Many of the old teachers of magic, or the force it was called generations ago, believed that one had to be balanced in light and dark. But some, in order to have more control decided to require that students either be light or dark, making them weaker," Amilyn explains. "Tell me this, why did your family stop using magic?"
"I'm not—I can't—neither can Cassian," Jyn stammers. "But Rey's mother, she could. But I don't remember her doing it much. You have to remember Cassian and I lived in Fest before his brother and wife passed. I only met Rey's mother a couple of times and we never discussed if she was force sensitive."
"Was Rey an unusual child?" Leia asks.
"In what way?"
"Was she prone to outbursts of emotion? Did she get hurt a lot or not at all?" Leia explains.
"I don't think she was any different from Finn or Rose. Why?" Jyn asks.
"Just wondering if she's sensitive and no one saw it. What about Finn's mother? Maz? She's sensitive."
"She is?" Jyn croaks. "How can you tell?"
"Finn told us. He probably is too." Amilyn adds as Jyn crosses her arms in front of her. She's not sure why she feels defensive, after all they've all been busy the last several years fighting snoke.
"I wonder if she is then if it's passed down from parents to children," Jyn mutters trying not to feel guilty for not giving her niece who she considers a daughter everything she needs. "I need to go find Cassian. If you'll excuse me—"
"Jyn," Leia says as she reaches for her hand. "We were wondering is all. Please don't feel like we are attacking you. It's nothing like that. If we are finally going to send Snoke back to where he came from, then we need all the force, magic and faith we can gather. I think you might have some magic in you as well. After all, you raised that majestic Princess. Who do you think she learned how to be brave and strong from?"
Jyn smiles as she wipes her tears. "She is quite amazing."
"She is. so is Benjamin." Amilyn grins. "With your amazing girl, and Leia's headstrong boy, I can't wait to meet that little one."
Brbrbrbrbr
Someone from the Skywalker clan starts playing their violin. Then the drum that welcomes him back like his mother's own hug. A soft flute joins them. But when his cousin Jacen begins to play his bagpipes, that's when he jumps up.
Rey is in his arms as he leads them around the roaring fire. The reel playing demands that he share his bride and she even smiles when he should be trading partners with Hux, but instead he pulls her close and out of the line.
Who would have ever thought that a smile and a giggle could make him so light he could float right up to heaven?
Who would think that Snoke's black knight, the most feared in the land is in love with the Princess from Naboo.
That realization hits him right in the chest.
He loves her. His little Rey of sunshine, he loves her.
He picks her up only so he can claim her lips with his own. He can feel her smile against his. Hazel-green meets amber as his nose brushes hers.
In the flickering light of the torches surrounding them and the fire in the courtyard reflecting in her eyes, it feels like he can see forever in hers.
"I love you," he whispers.
"You do?" He watches tears spring to her eyes. "I love you," she echoes.
"I know we're already married, but tomorrow, I get to tell the rest of the world that you're mine."
"And then what are you going to do—"
Rey doesn't get to finish because Poe is by his side. "You need to come with me."
Ben lets Rey slide down him as he ignores his friend. "Is someone talking to us?" He asks Rey.
She giggles, "I do believe so."
"What do you need, Dameron?" Ben grunts.
"We know that you two are already married. But you didn't get to partake in a typical night before the wedding shenanigans. So come on."
"Let me go see what they're planning," Ben says before he kisses her on the nose.
He turns to follow Poe, but she pulls him back. "I'm going on up to bed," she whispers. "don't be too long."
He winks and steals another kiss before he follows his fellow knight.
Brbrbrbrbr
When he does make it back to the room, it's well after midnight. And his bride is fast asleep. She's curled up on her side with the pillow he's been using tight in her arms. He unties his boots and then strips down to his underthings before he lays down beside her.
Her eyes flutter open and it's a sleepy smile she gives him as she hands him his pillow back. She waits for him to roll over and she wraps around him like she did his pillow.
With her warm breath on his skin, as she plays with his hair, he wonders why did I ever dread marriage?
Brbrbrbrbr
"Rey?" Rose whispers from the door. "Are you awake yet?"
"I just woke up," Rey answers. "What time is it?"
"The rooster crowed a little bit ago." The friend's eyes meet. "I figured you'd like a bath before you marry him again."
"That does sound good." She eases herself out of the bed. A quick glance at her husband tells her that he is indeed still sleeping. "Can we go to the creek, or did Aunt Jyn have a bath drawn?"
"Creek, of course!" Rose says.
"I'll meet you in the stables, let me get dressed." She waits for the door to close before she pulls her gown over her head.
"And what are you doing?" The deep morning voice of her love speaks behind her.
"I didn't mean to wake you," she turns, holding up her discarded gown in front of her.
"I probably need to awake up anyway." he props himself up on his elbows. "Where are you and Rose off to?"
"To the creek. Do you want to come with us?"
That brow that drives her crazy but loves at the same time crooks up until it disappears under his hair. "Are you sure?"
"I think so. I know Snoke isn't here, I'd feel better if you were with us."
"Let's go then." He swings his legs to the side of the bed and sits. "Come here first." she steps closer, and his hands land on her hips. He guides her to stand in-between his legs. He looks up and meets the question in her eyes with a grin of his own while he tugs on the gown. "What's this? I have seen you naked before, so why the modesty now?"
She shrugs. "What were you doing last night?"
"We just sat around talking." He lifts her gown until he can see her still flat stomach. In a move so gentle, he kisses right above her belly button. That warm feeling that gathers below where he's kissing her is gathering now.
She tugs on his inky waves. "Come on, Rose is waiting."
"Wait, are we all going to wash?" he asks as she steps away. "how?"
"We can either wash in our underclothes or take turns. Maybe we should just wash here—" she mutters, changing her mind.
"No," he says, grabbing her hips again and pulls her back to him. "I mean I'm to live here with you until—until we defeat Snoke and establish our kingdom. Part of that is going to the creek to wash." He stands up and kisses her nose. his warm hands run down her back, leaving goose bumps in their wake. "Come on now. If not, we'll stay here until Uncle Luke comes looking for us to marry us again and we'll still be in our marriage bed."
"Are we really going to do that?"
"Do what?" he answers as finds an old dress and pulls on his leggings.
"Establish our own kingdom—" she pauses then continues, "I've been told all of my life that one day Naboo would be mine. That I had to learn to be a good queen. I know neither one of our fathers is ready to hand over the land, but one day, it will be us, won't it?"
He ties the ties on her dress and he finds a tunic. "It will be. And I must say Princess, I think you'll make a fantastic queen one day."
"And my Black Knight, I think you'll make an amazing king one day."
They turn and both of them are dressed now. He offers her his hand, and she takes it. Together they go to find Rose.
Brbrbrbrbr
"You look amazing—" Aunt Jyn whispers before she kisses Rey's cheek. "I love you."
"Love you too," Rey mutters back. Then her aunt accepts Finn's arm and he escorts her down the aisle of the church.
The music changes, and Uncle Cassian offers her his arm. "Normally I would tell you something like you don't have to do this, but you already married him."
"I did." Rey beams at him. "I know this—me and him—was done oddly, but do you still love me?"
"Lamb—no matter what you do, I will always love you and not just because you're all I have left of my brother. I love you because over all these years, you became my daughter." They both have tears in their eyes when he pulls her into a hug. "I am so proud of you. You help defend your country, you picked a good man to be your husband, and now a new baby! But most of all, I love you and I'm proud of you because you're you.
"I love you too."
She hasn't known him long, but when her groom, her husband looks at her like he is now—it takes her breath away. She supposes she's seen this look on his face before—she's probably looked at him the same way.
But he's looking at her like he hasn't seen her in a week.
Need flows through her, stealing her breath and leaving her weak in the knees when she meets his look of hunger.
The last time she felt this way was on their first wedding night.
He's wearing his kilt, and a black jacket. He shaved sometime between their trip to the creek to now. Uncle Cassian kisses her cheek and Ben takes her hand. Together they climb the couple of steps to stand before his Uncle Luke.
She only hears some of what Luke says over them, the man beside her commands all of her attention. She manages a "I do." When Ben squeezes her hands.
Mara Jade is back with a beaming smile and the ribbon from Nana Padme. As Mara ties them together, Rey watches Ben. And he watches her, "—you may kiss your bride."
Their hands are still connected, so Ben pulls her close with his other hand. His lips claim hers in front of all their friends and families.
