Chapter 8
"Place the school on high alert! Double the guard! Have them looking for anything suspicious!" Saladine ordered over the intercom. Sky had just filled him on the situation.
"With your permission sir, I would like to go out and help find Bloom." Sky asked once Saladine was done.
"I cannot allow that right now. We need you here." Saladine replied as he moved back to his desk.
"There's something going on that you're not telling us. Faragonda is doing the same thing with the girls." Sky exclaimed in frustration.
"Yes there is Sky, but we have to keep the knowledge of what Bloom is after top secret or it may end up aiding her." Saladine responded.
"Oh please don't pull that crud on me! We both know she knows exactly what she's after and if it's here she'll be here soon enough!" Sky exclaimed.
Suddenly a third voice is heard in the room. "Well said love." Sky draws his light-sword and Saladine grabs his staff. They both start scanning the room a looking for the intruder. Suddenly they are both thrown up against the wall and are held up against it with magic.
"I can't get free!" Sky complains as he tries to get off the wall. Across the room a cloud of mist starts to rise in one place. Once it reached a certain height the mist solidifies and Bloom now stands there.
"Bloom? Why are you doing this?" Sky pleaded to his girlfriend. Bloom just ignores him and moves to the bookshelf behind the desk. Bloom starts searching the shelf for a certain book.
"You won't find it here." Saladine suddenly speaks out. Bloom stops at this and turns to look at him. In the blink of an eye she is right in front of him.
"Don't think me a fool old man. I can sense that it's here. Where are you hiding it?" To Bloom's interrogation Saladine remains quiet.
"Fine. Be that way fool. You'll never stop me anyways." Bloom says as she moves to Saladine's desk. She starts searching through the desk but seems frustrated.
"Why do you think we can't stop you?" Saladine asks. Bloom looks up at him and laughs.
"You? Stop me? I have you pinned to the wall with no effort and you can't break loose. I have full control over two of the most powerful sources of magic in the known universe. You really think you even stand a chance if I wanted to destroy you?"
"I alone may not, but you forget one thing." Saladine responds.
"And what am I forgetting?" Bloom asks.
"You're not just facing me. You're facing the best and the brightest of the Magix Schools." Saladine replies with a smirk on his face. The door suddenly bursts open with the rest of the Specialists on the other side.
Helia fired his glove weapon and it caught both of her wrists. He tried to pull her to the ground, but Bloom didn't move an inch.
"Oh Helia, what will I do with you?" Bloom asked sweetly. She suddenly pulled on the ropes and Helia came flying forward. I in a blink of an eye Helia was on the ground tied with his own rope and Bloom stood behind him.
"Now this will be quite enough of this." Bloom said as she raised her hands. Riven charged forward, but only made it half way before a wave of energy pushed him back. The wave pushed the rest of the Specialists and Saladine out of the office. Bloom flicked her wrist and the door shut and locked, leaving Bloom alone in the office with Sky.
"That should give me enough time." Bloom said to herself as she moved back to the shelf. She starts to pull random books from the shelf in a rushed search.
"Bloom just give up! If Saladine hid whatever you're looking you won't find it." Sky pleaded from his position on the floor. Bloom ignored him and kept looking.
Bloom tried to pull a book off of the shelf, but it clicked into a new position a few inches off the back of the shelf. Bloom stepped back cautiously, but nothing happened. 'There's more than one lever.' Bloom thought to herself.
Bloom moved to the middle of the room and looked over at Sky. "Stay down." Bloom said as she turned back to the shelf. She raises her hands and starts to channel her energy.
The books on the shelf started to shake, then suddenly started flying off the shelf. They all started piling in front of the door. Once the chaos of the flying books calmed down, four books were left on the shelf.
Bloom could hear a low rumbling, then suddenly a secret passage opened up in the bookshelf.
"And you said I couldn't find it." Bloom mocked Sky as she started to move down into the hidden room. Sky just watched her disappear, unable to move.
Bloom descended a flight of stairs. At the bottom is a dark room. There is only one light, and it shines strait down from the roof to a single podium in the middle of the room. Sitting on the podium is a single book. Bloom walks over to the book with haste and looks at the cover.
'This is it Bloom.' Bloom hears Serana's voice say as she grabs the book. She casts a spell on the book and it disappears. With a satisfied grin Bloom moves back up the stairs.
As Bloom approaches the top of the stairs she can hear banging on the office door. She exits the secret passage to see that the door is still closed. Bloom was about to teleport away until she heard a voice from the other side of the room.
"Bloom, please talk to me" Sky pleads as he struggles to get up.
Again Bloom hears Serana's voice in her head. 'Ignore him Bloom. It will only hurt you both more if you speak to him.'
'I'm sorry Serana, but I need to do this.' Bloom tells Serana in her head. She then walks over to Sky and crouches next to him. Bloom grabs his chin and pulls his face up so she can make eye contact. Sky looks up and sees that Bloom's eyes are blue again.
"Sky my love, always remember this. I love you and always will. Just know that I am not being forced to do this. I am acting of my own free will." Bloom leaned over and passionately kissed Sky on the lips. Once she finished Sky saw her eyes turn back to the red shade of her vampirism. The door bursts open to reveal the Specialists and Saladine again.
"Sorry for the mess." Bloom hollered right before she disappeared in a puff of smoke. Saladine looks across the room and sees the secret passage open.
'We have failed. She has the second tome." Saladine sounded exhausted. At this point Riven and Brandon have helped Sky off the ground.
"Headmaster, I must speak to Ms. Faragonda at once! I have something to say that everyone needs to hear." Sky urgently spoke.
"Well it's convenient then that I'm assigning all of you to protect the third tome at all cost. Get to Alfea ASAP." Saladine said as he sat down in his chair. The men didn't need to be told twice as they left the room as fast as possible.
