Recently I read a couple of Gamer fanfictions in the Percy Jackson universe. To be honest they are quite amazing. With a single catch: Too few exist.

So I decided to add one.

Chapter 1 Game

"If you only go by stereotypes, than training to increase the levels should be possible."

A youth talked to another youth as pondered before continuing to speak.

"But in most cases, games are limited to certain features. It would take ages for a game to implement everything that is required for it to work. Some games focus on dungeons, with RPG mechanics, other games decide to focus on a more story or character driven mechanic."

Seeing that the other youth still listened closely, the youth smiled before continuing with excitement.

"From your explanation, it should be an RPG. After all you have levels, the usual attributes, titles, as well as passive and active skills. Now you should try and confirm whether or not you can use the skills you have unlocked to fight against some foes."

Tapping his chin, the youth continued.

"In most cases there should be dungeons or at least some instances where monsters await you. But it could also be one of the dating simulators. There are some that are closely modeled after RPGs and contain some of its elements. If it is an easy one, then there should be a menu that shows relationships."

As if surprised of the unexpected possibility, the other youth who simply listened exclaimed with a short burst of disbelief before returning to a normal state.

The excited youth interpreted this as the awakening of a fellow game lover.

"That's amazing, isn't it? Games offer so much possibility. While there are not many games that combine all of the features, I am certain that I will be able to play such a game!"

The other youth nodded.

"Indeed, it is a quite amazing game. But what are the classes you have talked about? The game I play doesn't have classes, though I have skills for melee and ranged. It is better to specialize in one direction, or better to spread out the grinding?"

The game loving youth immediately had an answer.

"Well, it depends. Often the developers buff one playstyle too much, leaving the others nothing more than a gimmick once you understood the game. I don't really know what kind of game you are playing, but according to your descriptions, it should be quite amazing. Care to share the title?"

Embarrassed, the other youth rubbed the back of his head before denying the request.

"Sorry, I picked it up somewhere in a second hand shop. It should be a prototype as there is no title."

"Damn, you are quite lucky. Perhaps I should skim through some of the second hand shops as well. Never played the prototype of a game." Sighed the game loving youth.

Turning towards the clock, the game loving youth immediately stood up before dashing away.

"Sorry Percy! I forgot the time, let's talk about games in …"

The last part was drowned out as the game loving youth quickly distanced himself from the original position.

Percy couldn't even thank Mike for his support during the past couple of days.

He had absolutely no idea why, but apparently fate decided to throw another punch at him by giving him a weird game like ability.

Not like he already had major problems with his ADHD and Dyslexia. The former not allowing him to sit still for a single moment and the latter making it quite hard to read anything as the letters decided to randomly move positions.

But thankfully the newfound ability offered a solution for the latter.

An inward command of showing his status made a floating panel appear in front of him.

Perseus Jackson

Son of Sally Jackson and ?.

Level 1 (0%)

HP: 100/100 MP: 100/100

Strength: 3

Agility: 4

Vitality: 5

Wisdom: 1

Intelligence: 1

Charisma: 2

Honestly, before he gained this ability he had neither the time nor patience to play a video game. Thankfully he knew the rough existence of it due the obsession of Mike being well known in the school for troublesome youths.

Sighing, Percy turned towards a couple of new panels that appeared with the weird gaming ability.

Mainly the skill panels that showed all of his current skills as well as the relationship panel that just unlocked after the listening to the explanations of Mike.

While the relationship panel was rather poor in names, as it only contained his mother, his best and only friend Grover, the newly found acquaintance of Mike, his bully Nancy Bobofit and sadly the garbage human of a man Gabe.

Without any surprised he was beloved by his mom, friendly with Grover, neutral with Mike and hatred with Gabe.

What surprised him was that Nancy Bobofit, or as he liked to call her Bobfat, had a question mark under her relationship status.

Ignoring the anomaly, Percy looked at the skill panels that showed all of his skills.

Passive:

ADHD (MAX)

Inability to remain patient.

Gamers Mind (MAX)

Allows you to view every situation with the calm mentality of a Gamer.

Gamers Body (MAX)

Your Body is the body of a game character.

English (Level 4 (49%))

Ability to read and write English.
Currently at -80%.

Active:

Analyze (Level 1 (7%))

Analyzes the Information of a target.

Sighing at his pitiful collection of skills, Percy sighed.

During the conversations with Mike, he had realized that having skills are the bread and butter of every player. But sadly this reflected his abilities which were quite garbage.

While the skills could be collected, the attributes were the main factor of Percy's disappointment.

'Why do I only have a single point at Intelligence and Wisdom? Shouldn't I be smarter? Why is my Vitality the highest attribute I have?'

This caused him to do something which he never dared to do in his entire life. He had almost wondered who he was.

But he, Percy Jackson, stepped into a library with the intention of reading books.

Gulping at the shelves that were filled with all sorts of books, Percy sighed.

'I only want to test whether or not I can increase the level of English.'

During the past couple of days, he had learned that grinding a skill would result in the improvement of its function.

A nice lady helped him to find books on his level. The lady seemed to be quite considerate, especially after Percy asked whether or not there were easy books for people who had dyslexia.

It didn't took long for the lady to gather a large amount of books with easy vocabulary.

Opening the first one, Percy realized that it was a book for children.

Blood rushed into his cheeks as the lady must have thought that he couldn't read at all.

But before he could wish himself into the ground, the lady explained.

"I know a couple of people who have Dyslexia. The worst thing they can do is to pick the hardest book available. It is better to slowly increase the intensity and work on the basics before moving on to the bricks of the book world."

Thanking the lady, Percy choose the most infrequent visited corner as to avoid any attention on himself.

One by one, Percy devoured the thin booklets.

While the letters still decided to do whatever they desired, due to the simplicity of the stories he read, Percy was able to decipher most of it.

Upon leaving the library at sunset, he had increased his English level by one.

English (Level 5 (2%))

Ability to read and write English.
Currently at -75%.

While the increase only consisted of 5%, at least it was better than nothing.

What awaited him at home was the smelly piece of shit called Gabe.

The truth was that he had no idea why his mother would choose to stay with such a piece of shit.

But he could only endure it as his mother had pleaded him to not get angry which was an extremely hard thing to do.

The next few weeks were mostly spent within the library, reading as many books as possible. He had moved on from thin booklets to books with one or two hundred pages.

Due to the amount of stories he had read, Percy came to a conclusion. While reading sucked balls, the knowledge contained within the books were amazing.

Especially since he could choose what kind of knowledge he wanted to get.

However the increase in the English skills were not only affecting his ability to read books. He could understand most of the lessons that were specifically designed for problem children, causing his grades from the last couple of tests to skyrocket.

"Man, how did you get so smart?" Asked a youth with crutches.

Rubbing his nose, Percy smiled.

"A lot of hard work in the library. You might not believe it, but it isn't such a bad place once you get used to the books Grover."

The last part was spoken after Grover looked at Percy as if he was replaced by someone else.

"You kidding? Our mister I don't care about grades decided to go into a library? What has gotten into you?" Smiled Grover while playfully jabbing at Percy.

Before Percy could make his best impression of a prideful nerd, a taunting voice interrupted their playful banter.

"Oh, a nerd and a cripple. What for a wonderful pair."

The laughter that followed didn't help.

It didn't take Percy a look to understand who said that.

Nancy Bobofit, his eternal bully that had something against Grover and himself. The latter due to needing crutches to walk and him for some unknown reason.

"Stop it Bobofat. Leave us alone and go somewhere where you are needed." Spoke Percy as he glanced at Nancy and her crew of followers.

However as they continued to throw jeer and jabs at them and refused to go away, the only thing that the duo could do was to leave.

A quick use of Analyzes made him sigh. The only thing that was revealed by Analyzes was the name of the person. Nothing more.

Nancy Bobofit

While Grover and Percy searched for a place that was free of Nancy, Percy sunk into thoughts.

'My English skill is getting harder to level. In the past it only took me one or two days for one level, now it at least takes three days. Perhaps I should move on from English and focus on Analyzes, perhaps it will grant me some unknown boons.'

While it was easier thought than done, Percy continued to use Analyze throughout the day.

He used it on everything he could. Objects, Humans and random stuff that either was a living creature or some object that was carried by the wind.

Though while Analyze failed in most cases and simply delivered nothing, in successfully usages, Percy would simply get the name of the person or the official identification of the object.

Which couldn't be considered useful.

Nevertheless Percy continued the grind.

It took only a couple of days for Analyze to reach level 5.

Analyze (Level 5 (1%))

Analyzes the Information of a target.

Unknowingly to Percy, he would curse the day Analyze reached level 5 but at the same time be grateful for the things it would unravel.
