Chapter 11
After an hour in the freezing winds of Sparx, Bloom and Serana finally found the hidden library of Sparx. Thankfully, between her vampiric blood and the Dragon Fire, Bloom wasn't too affected by the cold.
"So do you have any idea where the Book of Fate will be?" Serana asked after she successfully closed the door, blocking most of the freezing weather from outside.
"It was the most valued piece in the collection. It has the power to tell the fate of all or the Sparx Royal Family. It should be on a pedestal somewhere." Bloom said as she glanced around the room. "Let's split up and start looking." Bloom suggested. With a nod, Serana headed to the left and Bloom went right.
After searching for a few minutes, Bloom came upon a dark alcove in the far wall. As she moved into the alcove there was a blinding flash of light, forcing her to cover her eyes. A few moments later Bloom opened her eyes. Before her was a ordinate pedestal with a gold tome resting atop.
"Serana, I found it!" Bloom called out as she approached the Book of Fate. As she started to open the book Bloom heard Serana approach behind her. The book started glowing a golden aura. Bloom and Serana backed away and the aura left the book and formed into the spirit of a man in regal attire.
"Greetings Ms. Bloom. I am Bartelby, King Oritel's scribe. My spirit was bound to this book in the hopes I could on day guide you along your way." The spirit, Bartelby, said.
"How can I save my parents?" Bloom asked anxiously. With a wave of his hand, Bartelby opened the Book of Fate to a page farther into the book.
"There is an old prophecy that states that, 'A king without a crown will save a king of a lost kingdom.' I apologize if this is not helpful for you my princess." Bartelby said, bowing his head.
"A king without a crown." Bloom whispered to herself, deep in thought.
"What are you thinking Bloom?" Serana asked.
"Well if the prophecy applies to me saving my parents and restoring Sparx, then not only do I have to know this crownless king, but I have to know him well enough that he would go to Obsidian with me to help me. The only royalty I know who are even close to this criteria is Sky." Bloom explained.
"You told me once that Sky was a year older than you. That would make him nineteen or twenty right? Well for most royalties I remember twenty is the age when a prince starts taking over for their father. Prince Sky may very well be the King, but won't have a crown because he's not holding the thrown." Serana reasoned.
"Well that has to be it! It makes sense. I just hope that they won't be too angry with me over all of this." Bloom said. She then turned to the spirit. "Thank you Bartelby."
"There is one last thing you must know my princess." Bartelby said.
"What's that Bartelby?" Bloom asked.
"Your father's sword is imbued with the Dragon Fire and will be crucial in defeating the Ancesstress in Obsidian. The problem is that only a noble king may wield the blade. This is what I believe the prophecy is referring to." Bartelby finished.
"Thank you Bartelby." Bloom said.
"It is my pleasure to serve my princess." Bartelby said as he was reabsorbed by the book.
"Let's head to Magix. I'll call Sky and try to set a meeting somewhere." Bloom said as they left the frozen Sparx.
Sky is pacing in his dorm at Red Fountain.'Where is Bloom? She's been missing for a week now.' The door opens and Brandon enters their shared dorm.
"Sky you need to chill. I know you're worried, but Bloom's tough. I'm sure she's fine." Brandon said, trying to calm his friend. Before Sky could reply, his phone starts ringing from where it sits atop his nightstand. Sky starts towards the ringing phone.
"It's probably father trying to get me to come back again. I don't care what he thinks, but I won't finish taking the throne until I know where..." Sky trails off as he sees the caller ID.
"What's up dude?" Brandon asks as watches his friend stop dead. After the momentary shock, Sky quickly answers his phone.
"Bloom? Where are you? Are you alright?" Sky asks worried.
"Sky calm down, I'm fine. I need to talk to you though. Can we meet?" Bloom asked.
"Yeah of course. Where do you want to meet?"
"How about the Magix Cafe in twenty minutes?" Bloom suggested.
"That sounds great. I'll meet you there." Sky replies. As he puts his phone away he notices Brandon staring at him.
"That was Bloom?"
"Yeah she wants to meet me at the Magix Cafe in twenty minutes." Sky answered as he started to get ready.
"Well we have to tell Stella and the other girls. They'll be so excited to see her." Brandon said as he grabbed his phone.
"Hold on there. Bloom sounded like she wanted to talk to me alone. Don't get me wrong, if the girls just happen to be in Magix and see us then that's out of our control. Just give us a little time first." Sky said as he got up to leave.
"Yeah sure I get you. I'll tell the girls to give you two some space." Brandon said as he started calling Stella.
"Thanks." Sky said as he left.
Bloom was sitting in a booth at the Magix Cafe waiting for Sky.
'Are you ready for this Bloom?' Serana asked telepathically.
'As ready as I can be.' Bloom answered. She heard the bell above the door ring. When she looked towards the door she saw Sky walk in. Bloom stood up and waved Sky over.
"Hi Sky." Bloom greeted as Sky hugged her. After Sky let go of Bloom she sat down in the booth with her back to the door. Sky sat down opposite of her.
"Bloom, where have you been? We've all been worried about you. What happened after you left?"
"I'm sorry. I know I didn't handle that how I should have, but I had to help Queen Serana." Bloom said with a gloomy look. Sky reached over and grabbed Bloom's hand.
"That doesn't matter to me, or to the girls. We know that you're still the girl we love, vampire or human. We just miss you." Sky said.
"I know. And I'm really sorry for running away." Bloom said, gently squeezing Sky's hand. "But I need your help Sky."
"You know I'm always here for you." Sky said.
"Then hold on." Bloom said as she grabbed Sky's free hand.
"What do y..." Sky started before they both vanished into a puff of smoke.
Bloom and Sky re-materialized by the lake in the Gloomy Wood Forest. Standing next to the lake was Serana.
"Sky, meet Queen Serana of New Vamperia. Serana, this is soon-to-be King Sky of Eraklyon." Bloom introduced the two.
"It is good to meet the man Bloom loves. We are grateful for your assistance in rescuing Bloom's birth parents." Serana said with a small curtsy.
"If you don't mind me asking, why are you so interested in restoring Sparx?" Sky asked.
"Well there are several reasons. First she helped me so now I need to help her. Secondly the Council of New Vamperia declared I must have a heir, so I have named Bloom heir to my throne. In being heiress, she will have access to my source of power Vampirum. Her crowning is in five days, and if we do not save Sparx before the coronation then that much power will destroy Bloom." Serana explained.
"I... I see. Well let's get started then. We should call the girls and get them." Sky suggested.
"I'm sorry, but they will not be necessary. The three of us can handle it. We don't need to endanger anyone else." Serana said.
"Come on. Pixie Village is this way. Lockette can help us open a portal to Obsidian.
Author's Note: As requested, here is the next chapter. This part of my story is going to be similar to the plot of the Winx Club movie, The Secret of The Lost Kingdom, just with my OC Serana and without the Winx or Specialists. We'll just have to see how the trio's encounter with the Ancesteral Witches next chapter.
