Chapter 25

The funeral was set the next day and was held at the cemetery near Godric's Hollow. Remus held Natalie, who was grieving. The rest were there, paying their respects. James had a hard time dealing with the fact his father was murdered. He was lost without him; he lost his father figure. He wondered what he would do when he and Lily will have kids. He hugged his mother affectionately.

After the guests left, James' friends consoled him. Daniel, Sarah's boyfriend, gave him a small hug and said "I'm sorry James. I'm sure he was a great man. I've decided to join the Order as well, in his honor." James was flattered; he barely knew the guy, yet Daniel wanted to be a part of the gang. James gave him a little smile and thanked him. Sarah hugged James and with that, they left.

Sirius clapped James' back and said "He seems like a good guy." James nodded.

"Has anyone seen Peter?" Remus asked them. Sirius and James looked at each other and turned to Remus.

"No idea, mate. I thought he was here." Sirius said.

"I thought he'd come." James said, slightly disappointed. Lately, Peter has been "skipping" Order meetings and making up excuses. Remus knew they had to keep a closer eye on him, but on the other hand, Peter was still their friend. Or so they thought.

Christmas had gone by. It was special, like every year. Many parties occurred, gifts were exchanged, and they had dinners in different places. They celebrated New Years together. They all wished for a safe year. It was 1979.

The winter was a nightmare. Colds, fevers, and runny noses were popular at this time of the year. But another thing was popular: Death Eater attacks. They were known to harm people who got in their way, or people who they think aren't capable of learning magic or being in the wizarding world.

Alice finished her shopping in Hogsmeade. She wanted to visit Bo before she headed off home. She noticed that the streets were emptier than usual; she shuddered. 'That's weird. It's usually packed here.' She ignored the thought and went on to Bo's house. She suddenly felt another chill; like someone was watching her. She couldn't ignore that and turned around and pulled out her wand in defense. Curses were flying at her, and she hid behind a wall and fired when she could. She spotted black hooded figures. 'Death Eaters!' She sent a curse "Pertrificus Totalus!" and ran away quickly.

Alice knocked on Bo's door frantically. Bo opened it quickly to reveal Alice panting and shaking. "What happened?" She asked worriedly as she let her friend in.

Bo got her a glass of water and Alice said "Death Eaters attacked me. I didn't see who they were, but I knew it was them. They were here, in Hogsmeade." Bo gasped and called out to Sirius. Sirius came in and heard the story.

"Are you alright?" he asked her. She nodded and finished her glass of water.

"We need to be cautious. It's going to be hectic."

Throughout the year, they celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and kept on training with Dumbledore. It was on Adam's 1st birthday when Bo made him a cake. He babbled and got spaghetti stuck in his dark brown hair. His gray eyes glistened with joy and she suddenly heard him say "Da-da." Bo stopped everything and squealed. She removed the piece of food from his hair.

"Oh my baby! Did you say 'Dada'?" She picked him up from his high chair and yelled out to Sirius "Come quick! He said his first word!"

It was the same day when Bo noticed that something was wrong; Alice and Lily were sick. They were complaining lately about sickness. The boys were in the living room with the baby, and the girls were sitting in the kitchen. Alice and Lily looked rather pale, yet they glowed. Genevieve noticed something and smirked "I suspect a little Longbottom and Potter on the way." Alice and Lily smiled at each other and laughed. The girls hugged them and congratulated them.

"Do the blokes know?" Natalie asked, cocking her head to the living room's direction. Alice shook her head "Not yet. We'll tell them later."

They all sat down and ate birthday cake. It was that time when Lily and Alice got up and announced their pregnancies. They all cheered. The boys were stunned; especially the fathers-to-be. "Oh no, another Potter?" Remus asked jokingly.

James hugged Lily and had a goofy grin on his face. Sirius saw his friends' funny faces and grinned "Welcome to my world, gentlemen." He clapped Frank and James on the shoulder.

Throughout the months, Alice and Lily were forbidden to come to the Order meetings. They spent most of their time together when the others left to the meetings. They helped decorate each other's baby's room. It was about their 5th month of pregnancy when the complaints started coming in. "This is my first and last baby!" Alice whined.

Bo made her a sandwich "It's not so bad now. Wait till you get to the last months." She took a bite when she heard her friends moan from the sofas. Grace came by as much as they could to help the girls.

"Nobody said it was easy." Grace said to Lily.

It was one day when Dumbledore wanted to see every one of them. They've agreed to come to his office at Hogwarts. They were all thrilled to see their old school. They entered his office and there awaited them chairs faced to his desk.

Their old headmaster came in and greeted them "Congratulations on your pregnancies." He smiled at Alice and Lily. "There is an issue we must address." Their silence was his cue to continue.

"Professor Trelawney made a prophecy. A prophecy directed to a child born on the last days of the 7th month; a child with the power to defeat the Dark Lord. The child would be the most famous child in the world, but one of them must die in order for the other to survive." When he finished, there was a deafening silence.

"A child? Defeat Voldemort? That's absurd!" James retorted. The girls were worried and jumped into conclusions.

"Ours are in the end of July." Lily added quietly. James exchanged looks with her. Alice was silent, and Frank was worried about her strange silence.

"I suggest you protect yourselves as good as you can." Dumbledore had a sympathetic expression on his face; he clearly was concerned. Lily and James listened to Sirius and decided to go into hiding and make Peter their Secret Keeper, meaning he vowed to keep their location in secret.

After that meeting, James and Frank tried to protect their wives as much as they could. They were equally anxious about July. As the months passed, Alice gave birth to their son, Neville on July 30th, whereas Lily gave birth to Harry James Potter the next day. They were placed in the same hospital room, to their request. Neville had Frank's blue eyes and he had a dark brown tuft of hair. Harry, on the other hand, had his mother's brilliant green eyes and his father's hair. James grinned at his newborn son "That's my boy! The Potter mane!" He boasted and Lily laughed.

"'The Potter mane'? How thick can you get?" She joked. The others laughed.

Sirius and Bo were Harry's godparents. Frank and Alice made Natalie and Remus Neville's godparents. Lily was thrilled about giving birth to Harry, but couldn't help but worry. After everyone left, and Alice was asleep, Lily cried to herself. James entered her room with flowers. He placed them in a vase and saw her crying. "What's wrong? Are the flowers ugly? I'll return them if you want."

Lily looked at and gave a small laugh "Lilies, my favorite. Thank you, darling. I'm worried, James. It's Harry. Harry's the one."

The Potters were in hiding and were safe, thanks to Peter. James and Lily were in love with Harry and enjoyed every moment with him.

"I think he's going to be like you, with your temper." James chuckled.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Lily inquired. Harry was napping next to them. James shook his head and dismissed what he said.

"I think he'll have your courage and a right to stick up for others."

"And that I do." James said and they kissed.
