It's been a long time since I updated this fiction. But don't worry, it is not dropped. I like the usage of RPG elements in stories. For that I read LitRPG and any kind of Gamer fanfiction.

Personally I like to use RPG elements as supportive constructs in a story and as such they will not be a primary way of showing progress. There will be skills and numbers thrown around, but those will come later once I try myself at combat and planning.

Currently there are no pairings in planning. Writing romance is something that I would love to do but I am not sure on whether or not I am able to write it in a convincing manner. But there will be romance in this story.

Anonymously96: Indeed, there is a decent amount of them. And for Nancy, we shall wait and see what happens.

HPfanfictioner66: No schedule. While it is bad practice, currently I simply have other priorities.

RageSage: Thanks.

Plebstone323: Thank you.

Bigbrownpanda: Nothing set in stones yet.

Xerzo LotCN: He will become strong. Though it will be a gradual and steady process.

Chapter 2 Information

Grover Underwood

A ? that was assigned to Perseus Jackson to be his protector. His greatest goal in life is to acquire a Searcher's License so that he can fulfill the dream of becoming a Searcher.

With a face full of questions Percy looked at his best friend.

'He was assigned to be my Protector? What does that even mean? He doesn't look like someone that cold protect me. Hell his most '

But it seemed that the facial change of Percy was too drastic as Grover commented it.

"Why the long face? Did you fell in love with my handsome face?"

A grin could be seen on Grover's face as he praised his own appearance while he stroked his goatee as if his wisdom showed no bound.

The grin of Grover was replied with a grin of Percy.

"Do you really think that your goat like face could be more handsome than my face?"

In response to the playful banter of Grover, Percy did a silly action in order to dramatically enhance his "handsome" face. But for a short moment, Grover seemed to panic. While he calmed down quite fast and jabbed back in a playful manner, it couldn't escape Percy who had started to become suspicious towards the "Protector" tag.

"Oh really? For that we need someone other than your mother to tell you that you are cute."

Assuming a hurtful dying position, Percy grasped his heart.

"Oh my heart."

While he playfully bantered with Grover on the outside, Percy's brain was working on the inside.

'This is too fishy. Grover has to know something and it has to do with goats.'

After all, the only thing he had done was comparing Grover with a goat. But the anomaly that had to do with goats revealed nothing as even when Percy tried to stir the conversation towards goats, Grover's response to it had cooled.

Since Grover wasn't really behaving any more suspicious, Percy gained no information about the Protector stuff. If Percy didn't receive the information with Analyze, for all that Percy could know, Grover could have a phobia against Goats. He had known Grover for a decent amount of time and there was plenty of stuff that Grover was afraid of.

The bits and pieces of sandwiches that a certain someone regularly threw at him was only a single example.

Speaking of her, she once again approached the duo. This time with her entourage of minions that heed her call.

"Oh, having a heart attack nerd? A cripple in the company of a cripple." She sneered with a satisfied smile.

With an angry glare, Percy glanced at Nany Bobofit.

'This freckled b*tch!'

However in the next moment, Percy seemed to freeze. Analyzed once again gave him much more information than he could have hoped for.

Nancy Bobofit

Due to negligence of her parents, she seeks attention by causing a ruckus and pickpocketing. She has a huge crush of Perseus Jackson but is incapable of handling her influx of emotions around him.

It was weird. He had always assumed that if people liked or loved you, they would be shy or nice to you.

At least that was how girls acted around the popular kids back in elementary school and kindergarten.

The girls would squeal in the presence of their crush, run away from them and write cute little love letters.

There were no examples of throwing bits of sandwiches at his only friend, sneering and taunting as well as outright bullying him.

A short look at his relationship panel made him sigh inwardly. The question marks disappeared and were replaced with love.

Within the moments of disbelief at the fact that Nancy Bobofit had a crush on him, a piece of sandwich was thrown at Grover.

Normally he would hurl harassment back to Nancy while trying to defend from the incoming flying sandwiches pieces before Grover and he retreated somewhere safe. Somewhere where they wouldn't get harassed by Nancy.

But this time Percy decided to use the knowledge Analyze had given him. If the information would have been correct, then it would probably work.

"Nancy, why are you approaching us every single time you are here? If you want to spend time with me, simply ask."

The sentence was spoken in a rather hostile tone, but it was as much toned down as Percy could possible muster. Harassment that stretched over multiple months couldn't be forgiven within moments even if the reason was love.

But Percy didn't even need to continue as he could see Nancy' face becoming as red as her hair before retreating with her followers in a rushed manner.

With a hint of disbelief, Percy looked at the retreating group. This was the first time she didn't let out a dumb comment about Grover or him. Neither did she try and pursue him while continuing her harassment.

He never knew that it would have been so easy.

On one side he was quite happy about knowing the reason for Nancy's constant search for conflict. Especially with him and Grover. On the other hand it meant that Grover's description of being his Protector was true.

If analyze could find out the truth behind the constant harassment of Nancy, then there was a very high chance that Grover is his protector in some way or form.

The question that Percy now had was how could Grover with his two crutches be his protector? In what way could he protect him? Hell, he had to be the one protecting them from Nancy.

Looking at the flabbergasted Grover who stared at the leaving Nancy, Percy only had a single thought.

'From what could he protect me? Bad decision due to being older? From loneliness?'

Both options were quite viable. The latter due to him being a very good friend to Percy and the former due to a fact that was rarely spoken out.

It wasn't a mystery that Grover had to repeat multiple times as he already had signs of a beard as well as pimples. While a preteen didn't had the best advice, Grover looked like somebody that went through a lot and still could smile at the end of the day.

Or he was just somebody with a really heavy hitting puberty. Both Grover and Percy rarely talked about private matter. They both had a past that they didn't liked to talk about and they respected it.

"Dude, what was that? Did the library teach you some anti Nancy skills?" Exclaimed Grover with a big smile. It seemed that Percy wasn't the only one surprised at the retreat of Nancy.

Suppressing the growing curiosity of what Grover was the Protector of, Percy simply replied with a simple "Yeah".

The rest of the day was spend thinking about who Grover actually was. He remembered that Grover was some transfer student that just so happened to talk to him.

Which honestly felt like a heaven send coincidence. But what if it was planned? It would meant that it wasn't some random coincidence that put them together. Instead it would have been the duty of Grover to approach him. Grover was a cool dude and Percy considered him one of the best friends he ever had.

But if the information Analyze revealed to him would be correct, then this would mean that it wouldn't be a mere coincidence.

'But really… is there some kind of danger I will encounter in the future?'

Having a protector would mean that he had to be protected from something. The question was what.

Time passed as Percy continued to live his boring life. He went to school in the morning, listened to the lessons which he now understood better than ever before and chased Nancy away by teasing her with questions on whether or not she liked him. Every single time she would redden before rushing away.

During the time, two of his skills received a major growth. English and Analyze were the only two skills he leveled during the time frame with major progression to show.

Analyze (Level 9 (18%))

Analyzes the Information of a target.

English (Level 16 (89%))

Ability to read and write English.
Currently at -20%.

Due to him actually able to understand the questions on the test sheet, the improvement of his grades were visible. And to make matters more positive, his mom had informed him about a little surprise she had prepared.

At the end of the school year, they would travel to Montauk. Renting a beautiful log cabin where they would spend the majority of their time listening to the sound of the waves, grilling marshmallows and food above a campfire and enjoying the beautiful scenery of the ocean.

Percy already looked forward to it.

"Due to a longer lasting illness of your math teacher, I am going to be the substitute for the rest of the school year. You can call me Ms. Dodds."

A middle aged women wrote her name on the Blackboard as she turned towards the class that consisted of trouble makers.

Nothing unusual if there was not the hidden glimmer of fury within her eyes that focused at Percy Jackson.

"Percy, could you come forward and solve this equation? If you haven't understand anything, you can always ask."

"Percy, please come forward and answer number 3 of the exercise."

"Percy, come and tell your fellow students how you solved this question."

"Percy, you will have to do a presentation on the famous Mathematician, Leonhard Euler."

"Percy, if you would be so kind and read out aloud what we have to do on exercise 5?"

It was as if he was singled out amongst the class. Every question was given to Percy to solve. Regardless of whether it was a simple math question, reading a question aloud or homework that needed to be presented.

It felt a little bit weird but thankfully the daily visits to the library didn't failed him. Instead of mumbling his way through the reading exercises, he could read long and eloquent English sentences aloud without problems.

In the past he would have trouble reading a couple of sentences, but now he could fluently read math exercises without tripping over every other word.

Sadly, the same thing couldn't be said for the math exercises as Percy had trouble solving them. While his English skills had improved considerable, math was still a big issue to him.

Nevertheless the amount of stuff Percy learned in the time he was singled out increased exponentially. It was if he had gained one on one lessons. So it wasn't a surprise when he became better and better at answering the questions posed to him.

"I think I should teach you some Math, you are embarrassing yourself in front of your favorite teacher, Ms. Dodds." Spoke Nancy as she approached Percy who was sitting on a bench.

Before Percy could say something to make Nancy go away, he realized that there was nobody except for the two of them. Grover was somewhere else and the usual followers of Nancy seemed to have the day off.

"Really? You are more of a problem child than me. How could you teach me any Math?" Replied Percy without the slightest hint of hesitation. By now his tone missed the anger. It has been a long time since Nancy harassed him in the usual way and Percy was prone to forgetting stuff.

"Well, I had an A last year. What did you have? D? E?" Grinned Nancy as she looked at Percy with a smug smile. Unknown to Percy, Nancy had a slightly reddened cheeks and ears.

It left Percy speechless but it seemed that even the nasty Nancy had some talents.

...

"You are supposed to apply the multiplication on both sides! You can't just multiply one side if the other side isn't 0."

With a tired face Percy looked at Nancy who insisted to teach him about math. While the results spoke about themselves, as the questions of Ms. Dodds were now answered in half-truths, learning math wasn't a joy for Percy.

Especially since he had to look at the smug grin of Nancy who found enjoyment in hammering the knowledge into his head.

"You know… if you don't want to learn, how about we… we take a break? I've heard that there is a new Ice Cream Parlor opening with at least fifty different sorts of Ice Cream." Suggested Nancy as she looked at Percy full of expectations.

While she had taught Percy math for a couple of days, it was only teaching. Although they had short bits of normal conversations, none of them were longer than three sentences. Most of the stuff they talked about was math. But compared to their previous relationship, it was comparing heaven and earth.

In the beginning Percy wasn't happy about the fact that of all people it was Nancy that taught him math. But as his math grades improved and Nancy stopped throwing insults to Grover and him, the whole situation started to brighten.

"Yeah, why not? My brain is already overloaded with equations, I need some breaks." Said Percy as he stood up after packing his stuff. "Lead the way Nancy."

Slowly, the duo walked alongside each other.

"What do you do for fun?" Spoke Nancy as she fiddled with her hands.

Looking at the nervously Nancy, Percy sighed inwardly.

'If I didn't have Analyze, so many things would be oblivious to me…'

Seeing that Percy didn't reply to her question, the nervousness of Nancy grew.

"What you looking at? Don't you have any ears?"

Hearing the insult that slipped out of Nancy's mouths made Percy look at Nancy.

"Well… I like to listen to music and read books." Spoke Percy as he looked at Nancy who continued to be nervous. "Besides, you don't need to impress me. I am grateful for you teaching me some math. Dodds is singling me out for some reason."

"Doesn't she regard you as her favorite student? You got mostly A's and B's after I have started to teach you. Even prior to that, your worst grade was a D. And that was when you knew absolutely nothing and tried to guess random numbers." Replied Nancy with a doubtful face. In her eyes, Percy was the treasured little baby of Ms. Dodds.

Ignoring the part of her calling him the favorite student of Ms. Dodds, Percy double downed on being targeted.

"Prior to her, I was mostly ignored and could look out the window all day. But now every questions seems to be answered by me…"

"Oh, so you aren't the pet of the teacher who is getting good grades? I pity you so much getting good grades left and right."

With an overdramatic pose, Nancy began to act like Ms. Dodds. "Percy, please do that. Percy come forward and explain this question. Percy, you should do a presentation on Leonhard Euler so I can give you a redemption grade for the D I have given to you last time…"

Turning towards Percy, Nancy looked smugly. Proud of her accurate acting performance.

"Besides, you should be happy. I remember you getting E's and even F's in the past. I bet it was a miracle that your past self even passed fourth grade. You can do nothing except add, multiply, divide and subtract numbers."

Rolling his eyes, Percy stated in an annoyed manner to Nancy.

"But that is everything an average person needs!"

Before Percy could find any more reasons to not learn the increasingly difficult getting math problems, Nancy shook her heads.

"No. Percentages, finding x and creating equations are all important part of our society. Besides our technological advancement is completely based on math. So trying to find talented and gifted people is important."

The duo finished the rest of the walk to the Ice Cream Parlor in silence. Each deep into their own thoughts.

For Nancy it was the nervousness that appeared due to doing something with Percy outside of learning math.

For Percy it was the thought of going to eat Ice Cream with a person that he considered an Arch-Enemy not long ago.

While Nancy had a face that was hard to decipher emotions from, Percy could tell that she definitely wasn't comfortable.

Looking at her, Percy considered something before offering something to her.

"How about I treat you to one ball of Ice Cream? A Thank you for teaching me some math. Although I hope that the Ice Cream Parlor you are suggesting isn't one of the fancy ones. I am not really swimming in cash."

Percy had heard of luxurious items that only the rich could afford. It seemed to be the topic amongst his classmates.

Upon stepping into the ice cream parlor, he immediately stopped. A single ball of ice cream had the price of 15 bucks.

In the end Nancy had to be the one paying for both of them as Percy only had a single ten dollar bill in his pocket.

"I hope it tastes okay. You know, if you'd like we could go out and do stuff together. I don't mind paying, after all you doesn't seem to have lots of money. I mean..."

Nancy began to mumble as she caught herself returning to her bullying behavior.

For a short moment, Percy stared at the mumbling Nancy. He couldn't believe what was in front of his eyes. It dawned to him. Nancy tried to be nice to him. She helped him in his conquest against math, she stopped her bullying and she invited him to ice cream.

And yet she seemed to fear losing him.

"Yeah. I would love to hang out with you. But soon the summer holidays are going to start. I don't know how we could plan something."

Percy didn't want Nancy to be around Gabe. In fact he wished no one to have contact with this walking trash called Gabe.

For a moment Percy sighed inwardly. For the first time in his life he had a friend and yet due to circumstances he wouldn't be able to meet her.

"No problem. I can give you my phone and ask my parents for a spare one. Here, I carry me charger with me. I will call later, okay?"

Not giving Percy and time to respond, Nancy handed her phone and charger to Percy before dashing away.

Leaving a clueless Percy with a device he never used before.

Examining the phone Percy smiled. He would be able to call his mother with that and if Nancy didn't do all of the things above, he would be able to call his first friend.

A short thought about the possibility of him dating Nancy left him daydreaming. She had fiery red hair and after not harassing him for quite a while, he had to say that her freckles suited her.

Watching the crowd of people passing by left him with many thoughts. It wasn't the first time that he had simply sat on a bench and watched people passing by.

Often times he would simply sit and look around, hoping to escape his current predicament. But this time he waited in excitement. He stared at the pink phone within his hands.

Looking back at the whole reason for his current good fortune, Percy had to thank the status screen. After talking with Mike about the game, Percy had done a lot of experimentation with no success.

There were no foes, no quests, no inventory and nothing besides his two grind able skills and his status screen.

This left him with no choice but to continue living his life in an ordinary manner. But he didn't regret it. He had a great time and analyze was extremely useful.

So even if there would be nothing more than the simply status screen he would be content.

Let me tell you I love you ~

A cliché love song began to sound from the phone that Nancy gave him. Pressing accept, he could hear the excited sound from Nancy.

"Percy? Do you hear me?"

Equally excited, Percy responded with a simple "Yeah". A big broad smile across his face.

"Nancy, I think we will be able to meet in the summer…"

Unlocked Inventory due to first Encounter.

With a flabbergasted face Percy looked at the two floating panels in front of him. This wasn't supposed to happen. He had tried to get a response for weeks.

"I look forward to it Percy. See you tomorrow." Said Nancy with a clear smile in her voice.

"See you tomorrow…" Percy wanted to finish by saying Nancy's name, but another panel caused him to stop speaking.
