Kei Livestreams? Kazuya watches enviously
"Are you sure you want to do this? You can still back out if ya want~"
"N-No, it's fine."
I took a deep breath, adjusting my necktie as I ran a hand through my flattened hair.
Can't believe I'm actually doing this… fuck me, this is gonna be hard. Like, how the hell do you hold a conversation without countless people online simultaneously?
I stood just out of sight as Yaemori chirped loudly, smiling brightly into her camera as the livestream began. Instantly, I could see her chat blow up alongside her views, donations streaming in consistently with terrifyingly high numbers.
This woman is terrifying…. …ever since the… brr, [Measuring Tape Incident], I have been very wary of Yaemori. The things she can hide and summon from sheer nothingness… if she isn't a goddamn witch, then I don't know what she is! Especially with this viewer count! Isn't this extremely high or something?!
"Keita! Where's my coffee?!"
Ah, shit, I was monologuing like a damn villain, heh.
I blinked back to reality and smiled, stepping into view smoothly as I leaned down with my tray, entering the scene.
"Ah, sorry Yae san," I said as smoothly as I could. "Here's your coffee~"
I set down a plate and a matching white mug in front of Yaemori, spoon and sugars placed neatly on the plate. Straightening up, I looked into the camera and tried my best to smile as I ignored my nerves jumping everywhere.
"Hello~ I'll be joining the stream today. You can call me by my author name: Keita~"
"Hai hai!~ Keita kun will be joining us today! And if you also haven't noticed, we are cosplaying as Kaneki and Touka chan! Give me a 'YaY' in the comments if you got it right!"
Holy shit they are fast at respondin- d-d-double the viewers! No, wait, tripled! What the fuck?!
Yaemori glanced at me and gave me her trademark smile: a wink and a cute smile.
0 DMG Taken. RES too High.
Adjusting my glasses, I stood behind Yaemori as she sipped her coffee, smiling brightly as her chat continued steamrolling on with no end in sight.
Chat: OMG! YaeXKeita ️ ️ ️
Chat: Damn, he's so cute!
Chat: He's taking our Yae chan from us! Men, ATTACKK!
Chat: Simps
I sighed quietly as I felt myself smile.
These people…
"Now! Let's move onto our Q! N! A!"
Yaemori struck another pose as I pulled a seat up and sat down beside her.
"First question!~ Who is 'Keita'? Keita kun, this one's yours!"
I cleared my throat and gave a half smile.
"[Who is Keita?] The answer to that is simple: it is me."
Chat: Whhhhaaaaa?! His voice is so dreamy~
Chat: Damn, he's smarter then we thought!
Chat: Hack him! Find his address! We must protect Yae chan!
"Haha! An excellent answer from Keita kun!" Yaemori cackled like a villain. "Neeexxxxxxtttt!"
"Are you two dating?"
Pfft- hahaha! D-Dating?
I glanced at Yaemori who was also laughing, enjoying herself in the moment
"Me and Keita kun could never be together~," Yaemori swooned. "You see, Keita is from a forgotten kingdom, and my father will not let me marry a lowly peasant. Even though our love knows no bounds, we can't be together~"
Haaaaa? What bs is that… why? Why is chat eating this up?
Chat: Muuuuu… I'm crying! This story is so… so… beautiful!
"Kiss, Keita!~"
I instinctively raised my hand and held Yaemori at bay, fixing my glasses with my other hand.
"You called me a peasant, so no."
"So if there wasn't, you would?~"
"Don't put words in my mouth witch."
I pushed Yaemori over unceremoniously and shuffled into centre view, taking her seat.
"Sorry, but Yae san is having some issues at the moment," I smiled sweetly as I adjusted my glasses. "I'll continue to answer questions in her stead."
Chat: Th has awoken! Hail Keita sama!
Chat: Hail! Hail!
I'm… uh, sure. Guess I'm a king for a day… not a bad song, actually.
"Next question… is Keita actually an author?"
I glanced at Yaemori, still in a daze on the floor and grinned.
"Yes and no," I answered. "I'm currently aspiring to become a manga writer and illustrator. I've already begun writing my first story and fleshing it out, and it's mostly just drawing up the pages and colouring before I can start releasing it. However, if it garners enough attention, I'm sure I can release a few teasers with enough… incentive~"
Chat: Ehhh? I wanna read it now though!
Chat: Ever heard of a beta reader? I can do it for you~
I chuckled.
"I'll be sure to let you all know when it's released," I smiled, glancing at Yaemori. "Ah, looks like my time's up. The Wrathful Queen has awoken."
"Bwa!"
I felt Yaemori plop her arms on my head and sighed as she made noises, most likely grinning and making faces at the camera.
Chat: T-The Queen is using the King as a headrest!
Chat: Write it down! Write it down!
Chat: Guys! I've started writing a YaeXKeita Fanfic! It'll be done soon!
"Ara~ Make sure to send me the link, young one!"
Haaa~, and she's encouraging a shipping story between us. Honestly, what a troublesome girl she is… still, I'm enjoying this, even if it's only for a little bit.
Kazuya blinked.
Normally, he wasn't one to watch livestreams, but procrastination can take you places and damn was he looking for a way to avoid his uni at the moment.
But when he decided to stroll through the web, he caught a glimpse of something familiar, accidentally refreshed, and then proceeded to spend the next three hours searching like a rabid hound for that exact livestream with fragments of the title fluttering just out of reach.
And find it – eventually and painfully - he did.
"And that's all for today!~ Tune in next time when he finally undress Keita and make him cosplay as a genderbent Sailor Moon!~"
"Like hell you ar-!"
Bzzt!
Kazuya blinked, rubbed his eyes, then blinked again.
In all honesty, he feels like his brother could pull it off… wait, that's not the point here!
That room he was live-streaming in looked familiar, and he hadn't gone over to see his brother in a while. Maybe, just maybe…
Thud Thud Thud Thud
*click*
WHACK!
"Gah! God fucking damnit- Kazuya, watch what you fucking do!"
Kazuya blinked sheepishly before growing very pale very quickly, sweat pouring down his face.
Sprawled on the ground in front of him, his older brother sat there, blood slowly trailing down his nose and his hair ruffled, the glasses he wore cracked in one lense.
"Tch, dickhead," Kei grumbled, slowly getting to his feet. "The hell are ya slamming your door open for anyway? Idiot…"
Kei swayed on his feet but stubbornly refused to fall, instead unsteadily walking towards his room and entering, not even casting a glance at his younger brother.
In his panic at potentially having broken his brother's nose, Kazuya completely forgot the direction Kei had walked from, and failed to put two and two together, more concerned with not incurring any more wrath towards himself.
After all, a live-stream is one thing, but not being able to stea- enjoy his brother's home cooked food because he messed up was another thing entirely.
Kazuya gulped and slowly pulled his door shut.
If he tried to help or apologise, he'd make it worse.
"Ahh, I wish I had a girlfriend to console me…"
. . .
. .
.
Fwip!
Tch. My nose isn't broken, but it hurts like a bitch, and my glasses are now missing a lense.
Seriously, does he not have any common sense? Fuck me.
I tossed the now bloody towel into my dirty clothes pile and sighed, leaving the bathroom in nothing but a pair of track pants.
Works gonna be shit tonight man, fuck… whatever, I'll see if I can find my contacts or spare glasses. Probably hidden in the bottom of the ocean.
As I searched my apartment, I couldn't help but think about the upcoming trip.
Of course, I wasn't officially invited, but I think I'll tag along regardless. It's been a while since I've seen some sunlight, so Kiri san should be alright with it… and I've got this nagging feeling no matter what I do, Yaemori will follow me.
Too much thinking, I need to relax- ah, found them.
Contacts acquired~ Now I can do nothing for a bit. Don't have to leave for work for a couple of hours.
. . .
. .
.
"Phew!~ Another good nights boys!"
"Sure was busy tonight," Jyogi said off to my side, polishing the remaining glasses. "Not to mention hot. Think I'm gonna die of sweat in this shirt."
"I'd rather you don't," I said bluntly. "I'll actual die from having to handle everything."
"Ara, don't be like that Kei kun~" Kiri san smiled. "I'm sure my two handsome princes can survive everything~"
"We're not demon princes, as much as you like to think we are," I said, finalising our POS sales. "I know for sure I've got a limit. Not sure bout Jyogi kun though."
"Definitely got a limit," he sighed. "Unfortunately."
"Learnt from experience," I snorted. "So how many strokes before you finish?~"
"Come to mine and I'll show you," Jyogi winked at me. "Free of charge."
"Hah! Bet-"
"Ah, excuse me! Is Kino kun here still?"
I looked over towards the entrance where the familiar voice came from and frowned.
"Yaemori?"
My slip of tongue caused my co-workers to look at me deviously as I grumbled and flipped them off. I pretended to ignore the slip of cash transferred between co-workers.
"You killer stud you," Kiri san winked, blatantly pocketing her winnings in front of me. "Go enjoy your date~"
I sighed.
"Hate all of you."
Stepping out, I adjusted my sleeves to my elbows as I stepped out of the building, Yaemori following close behind.
Quickly, I led us away from the thinning crowds into the smoking zone and pulled out my packet, lighting the cigarette in a single fluid motion.
"So, what led you here tonight," I asked bluntly, inhaling deep. "Never thought you'd come to my workplace."
"Smoking's bad for you," Yaemori frowned before clearing her throat. "I just wanted to say thank you for indulging in my selfish request today."
I exhaled, watching the tiny clouds of grey dissipate into the dim night sky. The lights of the city seemed to fade as all sound disappeared, leaving only our breaths making noise.
What happened to the energetic girl who didn't care about my personal space or feelings? She seems… off, tonight.
"I did it of my own violation, did I not?" I responded after a moment. "No need to feel guilty. Besides, if you wanted to apologise for that, you could've waited until I was back home, or even tomorrow morning. Why now?"
"I had to do it now, otherwise it wouldn't be right," Yaemori grinned. "As simple as that!"
What a strange answer.
"Maybe there's more to you than I thought," I sighed, smoke escaping my lips.
Standing side by side, I finished my smoke, watching it crumble into cinders before tossing the filter into the bin.
"I'm going home."
"Ah… ahh..?!"
Yaemori pouted, as if I said something very detrimental to her. This girl…
I sighed.
"C'mon, let's go."
"Eh?"
"Well, we live in the same complex, don't we? If all you came out to do was apologise, then you'll be heading home as well. Ah, I'll be taking a taxi though. I need to stop by the convenience store first."
"Ah, y-yes!"
"You alright with sharing the cab fee?"
"Of course! I'm not poor doofus!"
Another side of the girl Yaemori Mini. I'm starting to find her intriguing.
Let's see how far she can sate my curiosity~
AN: Been sitting on this for a while, not really happy nor disappointed with this chapter. Regardless, an update is in order. Merry Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years and anything I missed!
Also the manga's getting close to the end as well~ Unless the author's gonna make it jump past 250+ chapters which I doubt unless its side-stories. See how it goes.
I'll try to update more frequently, but life's a bitch so yeah.
Have a good one!
