Jim in his troll-half form stumbles upon a strange door that takes him to another universe, where he encounters Hilda who has recently been turned into a troll and is trying to change back into a human. The two of them become friends as they try to return to being human and help both the trolls and the human citizens of Trolberg.

Back in Jim's universe, Merlin was in his workshop carving some runes on a flat oval piece of stone. Merlin had explained to Claire that the project he was working on was basically a portable gateway back home, once they traveled to the other universe and located Jim. The stone looked a bit like the other gateway once it was completed. Merlin and Claire packed their bags and the portable gateway and headed back to the cave with the big gateway.

Merlin approached the gateway and used his magic to activate it. The gate opened and Merlin and Claire were sucked through it. The two of them then found themselves on the floor of a different and much bigger cave.

"So this is another universe?" Asked Claire as she took in their surroundings.

Before Merlin could answer there was a loud stomping sound as Brundle stomped onto the scene and saw the two humans. Brundle growled and glared at the humans as he raised his staff. Merlin faced the giant troll and spoke.

"We come in peace. I apologize if we have intruder in on your home, but we just came through a dimensional gateway that dropped us off here. We are looking for our colleague, who traveled through the same gateway. His name is Jim and he is a troll wearing armor and carrying a sword."

Brundle relaxed a little as he saw that the humans were no threat and weren't here to take Trundle's eye. The big troll took a deep breath before he began to speak in English.

"I am Brundle. Yes I believe I did see your colleague about a day ago. He stopped me from attacking a little thief, though I suppose since he was a stranger to this world, he didn't know what the thief was trying to steal. He actually knocked me back and escaped. Your friend is a strong and skilled warrior for someone so young and small."

"Can you tell us where he is now?" Asked Claire.

"I have heard from the other trolls in the mountain that your friend has headed to the human city of Trolberg. Leave this mountain, head North, and you'll eventually find it." Said Brundle.

"Thank you. We appreciate the help." Said Merlin.

The two humans found their way outside and began to head North. As they walked they observed the surroundings of the new world.

"This place is beautiful, though it doesn't look too different from our world." Said Claire.

"Indeed it is, but I sense the magic here is different here. I also detect a bit of dark magic that must have scared these lands a long time ago." Said Merlin

"Will it cause us any problems?" Asked Claire.

"A bit hard to say. Dark magic is chaotic and unpredictable. Whatever left the scars has either been killed or sealed away. It's very unlikely we will encounter it." Said Merlin.

The two humans continued walking on towards Trolberg.
