Jim in his troll-half form stumbles upon a strange door that takes him to another universe, where he encounters Hilda who has recently been turned into a troll and is trying to change back into a human. The two of them become friends as they try to return to being human and help both the trolls and the human citizens of Trolberg.

Chapter 21 Dark Scheme

With nothing else to do Jim and the others were lead by some witches to a room with some beds, couches, chairs, and books. The group would rest there until nightfall. Jim and Hilda helped themselves to a couple of beds and fell asleep.

Hilda found herself in the dream world in the palm of Amma's hand with the big shadowy shape of the giant troll looking down at her.

"I felt a strange disturbance up above. Can you tell me what happened?" Said Amma.

"A really bad monster escaped from it's prison and is running free in the world." Said Hilda before going into more details about what happened.

"This is not good." Said Amma.

"Is the Void of No Return the same monster you fought all those years ago?" Asked Hilda.

"It is. Your description of the monster matches the one I fought long ago. I fear for everyone's safety especially for my children and the witches." Said Amma.

"Don't you worry Amma. Me, Jim, and the witches will find the monster and put him away where he can't hurt anyone." Said Hilda.

"You are a good girl Hilda. I am thankful and I wish you the best of luck." Said Amma before she vanished from the dreamscape.

Hilda had pleasant dreams for the rest of her slumber.

Elsewhere the Void of No Return was creeping around the forest near the mountains using it's senses to scout out all the nearby wildlife. Nothing interesting passed it's senses, until it picked up the scent of a large troll. The Void of No Return followed the scent to a cave and went inside and found the resting form of Trundle. Trundle was unaware of the Void of No Return's presence and this allowed the dark being to grab the troll and use it's powers to peer into it's mind. The Void of No Return learned about where it's old enemy Amma was and about Trundle's eye and his hatred of humans. This gave the Void of No Return a wicked idea.

"Do not fear Trundle I am a friend. I can get your eye back, so you may lead your people to the human city and awaken Amma." Said the Void of No Return through Trundle's mind.

"You would help me? Who are you and what do you have against the humans?" Asked Trundle.

"I'm just a magical creature that was unfairly locked up by humans for a very long time. Now I'm free and I desire revenge like you do. Amma's awakening will destroy the humans. It's a win win for both of us." Said the Void of No Return.

"I see. Well if you can get my eye and return it to me. Consider it done." Said Trundle.

"You can count on me." Said the Void of No Return before leaving the cave.

The Void of No Return let out a cold chuckle as it searched for the cave that would lead it to Trundle's old castle. Trundle would lead the trolls into the city and the humans would attack them. The attack would get many trolls killed forcing Amma to awaken and rise to save her children, which would destroy the city killing the humans and witches. Once Amma rose up the Void of No Return would strike and kill the giant troll and then it's revenge would be complete.

Once it's revenge was out of the way the Void of No Return would go about and devour whatever it wanted in the world.
