A/N: So I have been away for some time but I am back. This story will be 15 chapters and I am pretty much done with it. I just have to tweak the last chapter.

Rin tossed and turned throughout the night thinking of how the dance would turn out.

Will she mess up? Forget a step? Would he be pissed at her for coming on so strong?

However, it was too late now. She already told Sango and Miroku she was ready to perform and prepare themselves for the sexiest dance ever.

She got out of bed and went into her bathroom and turned on the shower. She gets in and thinks about Sesshomaru being there with her, caressing her body. He would have most definitely eased her nerves because he would be hers and would repay her for the show she put on for him.

She gets out of the shower and puts on a robe and enters her bedroom. She sees her phone has a couple of notifications. One immediately caught her attention.

It was from Sango as a group message.

Sango: Hey all sorry for the last-minute notification but I have a family emergency so no class tonight.

Rin felt sorry for whatever was going on. She was relieved but at the same time she was disappointed because she built up her confidence to get it done tonight.

She already requested to get off early so that she would have time to prepare for the event but since class was canceled, she decided she would just work the whole day through.

She hadn't spoken to Sesshomaru for a couple days. She didn't know how to feel anymore. He confided in her that he has a mate.

She was never a kind of woman that sought out a man that was already attached to another. She would simply admire from the background, a silly crush. She never tried to get involved with anyone that was spoken for.

Another punch to the face. She thought she could woo Sesshomaru into being hers since he was no longer in a relationship with Kagura.

Rin takes her lunch break. She finds herself staring into oblivion. Thoughts of Sesshomaru plague her mind. She picks up her phone and scrolls to Sesshomaru's name.

Rin: Hey Sesshomaru. I see class was canceled, what a bummer!

Sesshomaru sitting in his office hears his phone vibrate and reaches for his phone.

He had not heard from her since he revealed he had a mate. He thought she was avoiding him. He thought maybe she would put two and two together and figure out it was her.

He had been meeting with her alone, taking her home.

He laid his hand on her thigh and she did not move it. How could she not see he was interested in only her.

He informed her she was his only friend. The only woman he had been spending time with besides Kagura.

Sesshomaru: Yes, Rin I have seen that, and it is a bummer. Why have I not heard from you?

Rin was surprised, he was going straight to the point.

Rin: Our communication should be better, both ways. You could have contacted me as well.

Sesshomaru: Yes, you are right but I felt when we separated there was an impression left as if you were upset.

"I was," Rin yells at the phone.

Rin: I do have a lot going on and I have not talked about it

She was lying, the only thing bothering her was Sesshomaru finding a mate.

Sesshomaru: We can talk about it.

Rin: I am okay, I will figure it out.

Sesshomaru: I will get better with my communication. I am not good at it. I was in a relationship with someone where we stop communicating for years. So do excuse me if I am silent especially with the opposite sex. I am simply waiting for you.

Rin thought she was being such an idiot.

Rin: I apologize, I will get better too. Hmmm, have you spoken to your mate?

Sesshomaru chuckles when he reads her text, little did she know. But he lies, it just didn't seem like the perfect time to tell her.

Sesshomaru: No, I have not unfortunately

Rin: Why is that? You say she is your lifelong partner.

Sesshomaru: She is busy, and I still have not told her my truth. I am waiting for the right time.

Rin: Sorry if I am coming off worrisome. I just want you to be happy.

Sesshomaru: I appreciate that Rin.

Rin: TTYL I was on my lunch break, but I will hit you up later dude!

Sesshomaru: I hope so!

Sesshomaru sits back in his chair and imagines Rin's scent flowing throughout his home just like it was when she opened the door to her home. Sesshomaru closes his eyes and envisions Rin being within his presence just being her usual quirky self.

He was knocked out of this thought when he smelled Inuyasha approaching.

Inuyasha busts through his door.

"What up bro!" Inuyasha jumps into one of Sesshomaru's office chairs.

"To whom do I owe the pleasure for this visit?" Sesshomaru says annoyed.

"Class is canceled tonight so I thought I would stop by and see what you were doing," Inuyasha replies.

Sesshomaru leans on his desk. "You should go bother Kagome''.

Inuyasha closes his eyes and growls. "That is my woman. I can bother her at any time I want". Inuyasha sniffs the air, "Speaking of women! Where is Rin?"

Sesshomaru shifts in his chair. "She is where she is supposed to be Inuyasha".

"When are you going to make your move? There is no getting around it now. You and Kagura are over. All of that old baggage is out of the way. There is nothing stopping you from pursuing Rin now," Inuyasha says standing up.

Sesshomaru stands and walks out of his office. Inuyasha follows him down the stairs to the living room area.

Sesshomaru walks to his bar and picks up his decanter and pours him and Inuyasha a shot of scotch. They both drink and Sesshomaru waits for the burn from the drink to calm and then speaks.

"Rin is my mate," Sesshomaru says.

Inuyasha bursts out laughing. "Did it really take you that long to figure that out? I became suspicious when you were giving Rin the time of day. Then I thought, they would look good together, she balances you. A human woman huh? Who would have thunk it"?

Sesshomaru pours another drink in annoyance, "None of that matters not. What am I to do?"

"Tell her you want her! What is so hard about that? I told Kagome and she was fine with it," Inuyasha yells out.

Sesshomaru looks off to the side and then back at Inuyasha. Curiously he asks, "Do you know if Rin said anything about me to Kagome. Has Kagome said anything to you?"

Inuyasha downs his drink and then responds. "No, she hasn't said anything. It is a protective thing Kagome has going on. She only talked about the failed relationship Rin was in. She didn't mention anyone new she may be dating or you rather".

Sesshomaru sits on the bar stool. "I don't know when is the best time to tell her. This whole thing makes me nervous. I have a mate and she is right in front of me".

Inuyasha leans onto the bar. "It has got to be that Kagura shit that has you hiding your nuts but you gotta let that shit go. This will be different because she is your mate. Kagura was just your bitch for the time being. You will have your lifelong partner now".

Sesshomaru nods, "That is true, I can't hold back anymore. I will tell her in our next meeting".

Sesshomaru and Rin exchanged small talk over the next couple days up until it was time for the class to meet again.

Rin was happy she was able to get a couple more days of practice in. She now felt more confident than before. She will blow it out the box. Her fellow classmates wouldn't know what hit them.

She truly hoped Sesshomaru wouldn't be too upset with her, but she already had planned out this special dance before this "mate" girl was revealed. Whomever this girl was she was just going to have to deal with it.

The day has finally come and everyone now walking into the studio haven't a clue on what was about to come.

There were some groups that were ready to present the kind of dance they would perform and some just needed to get some practice in.

Sesshomaru sniffs the air and looks around. Inuyasha approaches him, "You are looking for Rin?"

Sesshomaru looks down at Inuyasha. "Is it that obvious? She is usually here". Annoyed, he says, "She didn't say anything about not showing up tonight".

Inuyasha shrugs, "From the looks of it, you do not know. She isn't coming in today. Kagome was speaking so fast she told me Rin wasn't coming in".

Sesshomaru looks down in disappointment. "We have been speaking and she did not reveal that information to me".

"Well now you know bro. I knew you wanted to talk to her tonight, maybe next time". Inuyasha walks off and finds Kagome and nuzzles into her neck.

Sesshomaru was about to take his cell phone out and text Rin, but Miroku speaks.

"Okay everyone we have something special for you all tonight. Someone is going to present tonight. It is going to be a good one". Everyone looks around trying to guess whom it may be. Kagome and Yuka already knew what was going to happen. Kagome told Inuyasha a little white lie, she couldn't risk the secret coming out.

Miroku motions everyone to go to the back of the room and sit quietly. He takes out a single chair and puts it in front the middle of the room.

"Sesshomaru," Sango says.

Sesshomaru looked up and instantly felt heavy.

Rin wasn't there and it was requested for him to sit in the chair. Sesshomaru looks over to Inuyasha. He turns back around when Sango says, "Please Sesshomaru, your partner will be giving you a dance tonight. Come sit in the chair". Sesshomaru stands and walks over to the chair and sits.

He was not expecting this. He hated being singled out but all those feelings changed when the lights dimmed, and he could smell Rin approaching.

He heard the heels of her shoes walking into the room.
