His eyes, he wonders, have they always looked that dead when he was Phantom, maybe they look like that now. Hollow and empty, why has he never noticed that before, no wonder people were afraid of him, the light wasn't there. He felt his core relax.. did he even have that anymore? He wasn't sure

But at least nobody was hurt.

Jazz's eyes were bore into the back of his head, neither of them said a word.

His- no the ghosts? It's still his ghost... glow is gone, without it the scar along his forehead more noticeable than he's ever seen it, white hair a sad gray. Sticking to the sweat on his face, fighting the urge to brush it away from his eyes he looks at the dried ectoplasm coating his lips, he wonders if he maybe he was chocking on it before he finally died. Did they cut him open before or after, was he given any anesthesia or did they want to hear him scream?

He moves his attention to the jars around the lab.

Was that his lung.

Feeling bile rise up his throat he quickly pulls the sheet back down covering the poor ghosts face once again. Placing his hand on the table he let's out a shuddering breath out, and in, and out.

And out.

It's not coming out, oh god why isn't it coming out, he needs to breath or.. does he?

He lowers himself to his knees.

"Danny, are you okay?" Jazz being an angel again. Checking on him when she's just lost her brother. He needs to be strong for her.

Out.

"Yeah. I'm relieved." He sounds pathetic.

In.

"...Relieved?"

"That it wasn't somebody else," he felt himself relax letting out a laugh, "What happened?"

Nothing.

"Jazz, I need to know."

He could feel her eyes studying him, staring deep into his soul as if she was reading a book, taking in every word. Every movement.

"You were injured..."

"I don't remember being injured."

"Danny..." She paused. Closing her eyes she gestured over to his body with a shakey arm. "I can't."

"Maybe I can fix this," He had to. He can't be fully dead, not yet. Maybe if he fixed this body up and then he could figure something out, Clockwork must know something, looking over his shoulder into Jazz's tearful eyes he tries to think of something to say to reassures her. He doesn't like seeing her look like that.

"I'll go into the ghost zone!" He realises he's In a very pitiful state, he needs to get it together.

"Danny.. what if you can't come back?" God she sounds so scared.

"It's okay, I can fix this." Standing up, looking into his older sisters eyes.. she's always been the strong one.

He remembers when he was little and he fell off the swing at the park, mother nowhere in sight, not that that was important cause of course his first thought was to find Jazz for comfort. She hugged him and cleaned him up being as reassuring as possible with her kind eyes and soft touches. Telling him it wasn't his fault, that he was going to be okay.

He also remembers when their mother finally came back home and that was the first time he saw Jazz shout at her, calling her irresponsible, neglectful. Danny didn't understand at the time, he only started crying because it was loud and they were angry, he thought it was his fault. If he didn't fall off the swing then none of this would have happened. He remembers getting closer to Jazz and just wanting her to hug him. He remembers his mother grabbing him away from her and telling him off for not being careful enough and for worrying his sister.

But where was she? She had taken him to the park but she wasn't there when he fell. In fact she didn't come home until hours after Danny did.

He shakes his head why is THAT the memory he's thinking of now, snap out of it.

"Can we leave?" Sounding scared and sad and broken.. this was so unfair on Jazz.

"Danny where would we go?"

"Anywhere but here."

He hears her let out a long breath, a small tentative step towards him, her broken eyes full of tears.

"We can figure this out." Trying his best to give her a reassuring smile and offers her his hand. Slowly reaching out Jazz holds onto it, closing her eyes she let's the tears fall, her head hover over his shoulder almost as if she was afraid she would go right through. Maybe she would.

He lead the way keeping a tight hold on Jazz, he didn't know if it was for her or himself. Keeping his eyes down Danny made his way up the labs stairs being careful to not step in any of the ectoplasm left by his parents.

When they reached the top Danny slowed down, each step was agonising.

Maddie was cooking. Jack staring at the table.

The clinking of utensils making the situation so much more tense, he let his eyes drift to his dad again, his eyebrows drawn together. Lips turned down into a frown, the dark circles under his eyes even more prominent in the light of the kitchen, he seems to have aged a lot within the past few years. He's no longer in his jumpsuit and is now in something more relaxing. A t-shirt and joggers.

Thinking back Danny can't even remember seeing any of his parents out of the jumpsuit at this time of day. Glancing at his mum, she too has taken hers off in favour of her nightgown.

When was the last time they sat down and have breakfast as a family? It would have been nice under different circumstances.

The silence is going to kill him. Oh wait.

Not wanting to stick around he ignores his parents and makes his way to the front door, Jazz right behind him, where should they go? They can't go to Sam or Tuckers he doesn't have the energy to face them just yet, he needs to be able to focus on Jazz right now.

The ghost zone.. going there wouldn't be too bad but he wouldn't be able to stay for too long, even though he supposes he belongs there now. How would the other ghost react to him moving in, he doesn't exactly have a lot of friends with the hunting and all.

"What you thinking?"

"Where we can go."

Falling back into a comfortable silence he and Jazz continue walking to god knows where. It's getting pretty busy the longer they keep walking so Danny puts all of his energy into turing invisible, he can feel himself getting tired, without his human half to provide substance with food he wonders how long he can last as a new ghost. Did he count as a new ghost?

He needs to find somewhere safe as soon as possible.

There's always Vald.

He has money. He could surely take in the two of them. If not then he could just quickly use his portal to regain his strength. Would vlad make him surrender? There's no way in hell he's going to do that, even if he has to survive alone. He would rather fizzle out into nothing. But Jazz can't survive on her own.

She's human and can't keep up with him. If Vlad is his last option he will do that, for Jazz. He really hopes this is the right choice.

"How would you feel about paying Vlad a visit?"
