Chapter 2

For now, Leah was been assigned to Angel's firm to supposively observe everything. She hated it but had no choice in the matter. Angel wasn't mad at her only mad at the situation that had occurred, having him and his lawyers dealing with it. She would sit in the office with him most of the day with meetings and clients. Her being there didn't really bother him at all, she would keep him company.

"I'm sorry about all of this, the officer that you couldn't stand got put on a different assignment," Leah said feeling sorry for him.

"It's not your fault."

"The other guy was just an officer, I have a little higher authority than him. I can get you out of this." She said willing to help him.

"I appreciated it, by the way, I saw what you did at the bar. Didn't know you were a slayer." Angel said nicely.

"Not something I'm going to run around telling everyone about." Spike came into the room seeing her sitting in front of Angel at his desk.

"Fancy seeing you here love," Spike sat next to her.

"I'm his observer, don't ask they just threw me here. The good news I have my nights off for this," she sighed. Angel left them alone in the room for a while.

"So you're his babysitter?" Spike asked her.

"Observer for the next week, I told him I'll get him out of this mess," Leah explained.

"I had a bloody feeling this place would get in trouble at some point," Spike looked at her.

"Well this seems to be like a multimillion dollar place since they are all over." She turned her body to face him.

Spike looked into her eyes mezmorized by her. It was a feeling he thought he would never feel again. Something about her just made him want to protect her from everything.

"What are you up to tonight?" He asked her.

"I have to have a social life and hang out with some friends. Not sure what the girls want to do, probably the same old thing get wasted and try to find a guy to take home," she said remembering their usual routine.

"What about you? Aren't you seeing anyone?"

"No, I haven't in a very long time." Leah heard him keeping her eyes on him a moment before Angel came back into the office.

The rest of the day consisted of keeping her eye on the place. Spike stayed around her most of the time keeping her company. She didn't feel it was right to follow Angel around like a lost puppy dog. Leah helped shut lights off at the end of the day. Then she left getting ready for the bar not changing into anything too dressy. Her friends were already there when she arrived. All of them were talking drinking their beers.

"Hey guys." She sat with them. They talked catching up a little bit. Spike was near by watching her from a distance. He could tell she seemed so out of place with them.

"Hey want to come dancing?" One of the girls asked her.

"Nope, not empty," she held her drink up to them as they left her there. Spike came up to her sitting next to her.

"What are you doing here?" She asked him.

"You looked lonely," he answered her.

"Lonely? Nah, just not big on dancing," He scooted closer to her drinking his beer.

"Well well what do we have here," one of her friends noticed Spike.

"This is Spike, Spike this is Layla," Leah introduced her.

"Hello," he said politely.

"My god your a looker." she said looking at him. "Isn't he just a hottie?" She looked at Leah.

She couldn't help but laugh at her. "So would you like to join me out here?" She asked him.

"No thank you," he said nicely. She left them alone and Leah was still laughing a little.

"She's into you apparently."

"I'm not interested," he looked at her.

"Oh I get it your gay," She said teasing him. Spike snickered at that a little. Leah got up leaving seeing she wasn't going to just sit there with Spike following her out.

Both of them walked out of the bar enjoying the evening breeze. "Nice night for a walk," she said walking with him.

He offered his arm and she took it not thinking much of it. They walked to the graveyard near by bringing her back to his place. She took her arm back while he unlocked the door letting her in front of him. Leah walked in seeing the candles lit. "Not bad," she looked around.

"You've been here before pet," he reminded her.

"I know but you didn't have all these candles lit either." Leah sat on the bed while he was getting blood out of the fridge drinking it. She was on her phone reading her text. Spike continued to watch her when he finished every last drop.

"I heard you had it in for Buffy," She looked at him.

"Who told you that?"

"Someone named Riley, I met him and he told me about you," Leah explained.

"I did, she didn't love me. We had a moment where we felt close but nothing ever became of it," he explained sitting next to her.

"What went wrong?"

"Nothing really, I fought to get my soul for her hoping I could be the man she deserved."

"Sounds like you did a lot for someone who didn't appreciate you." Leah said surprised what he did for her.

He looked at her a moment then looked away. "Then there was Drusilla, my sire the one who made me. I thought we'd be forever and now I realized she didnt love me."

"Spike," she scooted closer to him. He turned to looked at her. "What are you wanting?"

"To not feel alone anymore, I don't have the best reputation around here pet."

"Apparently, it's not that horrible if my friend noticed you." Spike kinda of laughed a little at that.

"That's what I am, my looks my charm, it draws women to me because I'm suppose to be a killer." She had him look at her.

"You know you're not." She placed her hands over his looking into his eyes. His hands brushed along her cheek as his eyes were still on hers. He leaned in kissing her lips a moment until they heard something outside causing them to stop.

Leah grabbed a stake off Spike's table walking out. He followed behind looking around trying to find that noise that they heard. "What the hell was that?" She looked around.

"I don't know." Leah turned around seeing a vampire behind her. He went to go after her and she kicked him tripping him on the ground. He started to get up and she kicked him harder driving a stake through him.

"Maybe it was him," she looked at Spike.

She sensed another vampire turning around kicking him. She went to punch him and he blocked her stopping her. "Angel?" She said reconizing him.

"I was walking by saw you kill the other vampire." He replied.

"Right, sorry." Angel let her hand go. She then sensed another vampire behind him. "Angel duck." He listened as she threw the stake at the vampire getting it in the heart causing him to turn to nothing.

"Not bad slayer," Spike came up to her.

"Just like a game of darts." She helped Angel stand up seeing him look back at the stake on the ground.

"It's been a while since we seen a slayer fight around here," Angel said impressed.

"So what have you guys done when it came to vampires trying to kill people?" She asked them.

"We've been doing the killing ourselves," Spike answered her.

"Isn't that breaking some sort of rule or something?" Leah asked confused.

"We don't follow the rules love," Spike came closer to her.

She looked at both of them. "I knew it, there is always a couple who rebel I get it."

"I took an oath to help people," Angel explained.

"Nice you care about humans."

"You're more than just a human Leah. You're a slayer they are rare these days," Angel took a few steps closer to her.

Leah looked at her watch seeing it was somewhat getting late. "I need to get home, so I can observe," she said getting ready to leave.

"You need me to walk you home?" Angel asked her.

"I'm good I'm not too far from here goodnight," she said nicely leaving. She turned to leave and Spike looked at Angel making sure she would get home ok.

Leah kept walking sensing Spike behind her. "What is it Spike?" She stopped to look at him.

"A pretty girl like yourself shouldn't be walking these streets alone," he flirted a little.

"Really?" He followed her to her place. She let him come in to her apartment. He shut the door behind him.

"Nice place its big," he said looking around.

"Yeah nice for someone who is never here except to sleep, get ready and leave. This is my room," she said showing him around. Leah excused herself a moment putting on a pair of pajama shorts and shirt.

She came out of the room seeing him waiting for her. "I should let you go," he said seeing she was safe. Spike seemed to always make her feel comfortable. They have gotten close remaining good friends.

"Spike, could you stay?" She asked him.

He looked at the couch next to her bed. "At least it's a couch this time," Spike took his jacket it off lying it on one of the cushions.

She approached him feeling her hand touch his bicep. His eyes were on hers looking into her eyes. "This is going to sound odd but will you lay next to me?" She asked him.

It took him a little by surprise that she trusted him enough to be that close to her. She got into bed covering up. He laid next to her holding her close to him. The feeling of being close to someone was something he missed. It did make him a little nervous but he was calm the whole time. This reminded him when Buffy asked him to hold her. The only difference was now, he would be more ready to be the man she needed more than before. He had plenty of time to cope with the things he had done.

The next morning she awoke with him still there next to her. "You're still here," she said surprised to see him.

"I never left you pet," he looked at her lying next to her.

Leah sat up rubbing her eyes. Spike sat up beside her with his arm around her waist. "Sorry, I know vampires don't sleep at night," she apologized.

"We nap a couple of hours here and there. Watching you sleep, holding you was one of the best nights I've had in a long time," he said nicely. Spike felt that some of the past was repeating itself again. This times he hoped that things would work out.

She smiled at that looking at him. He leaned in kissing her gently on the lips. This lasted a moment until she pulled back. " I better get ready," she said standing up.

Spike grabbed his jacket looking back at her before walking out the door.

Leah got herself ready heading to the office, she came in the back door. "Hi Wes," she saw him.

"Angel is in his office with Spike," he replied.

"I figured as much," she said nicely. She walked in his office both men looked up at her.

"Hey guys," she came in sitting in the empty chair next to Spike.

"Morning," Angel said nicely.

"I made some calls about this, to my boss I talked them into cutting you guys some slack," Leah informed him.

"I appreciate that." Angel did appreciate her putting in a good word for him.

"So do you work with him too?" She asked Spike.

"Hardly," Angel answered.

"I think I take credit for helping you out," Spike said being a little demanding.

"Ok fine, you helped out," Angel said annoyed with him.
