After another day of walking through the vast regions of Witchelny, with the group now heading towards the territory of the Light Tribe, hoping to convince the Digimon who made up the tribe to join in the alliance, the heroes and heroines decided to stop for the night, with the boys setting up the campsite once again.

The girls, meanwhile, were currently relaxing in a nearby hot spring which Biyomon had discovered during her patrol of the skies.

Amongst the girls, with Gatomon and Renamon allowing themselves to try and forget their troubles and just relax, two in particular let out pleasant sighs as they relaxed in the warm waters.

"I'm glad you and Davis are together, Kari, but don't you think you're rushing things?" Sora asked the younger brunette with her eyes closed as she remembered Kari's banter with Tai earlier.

"At least we didn't go straight to having sex by the river." Kari remarked back, her eyes also closed as the two continued their banters, letting Sora know that they knew exactly what she and her brother were up to, and felt neither had the right to judge her and her decisions with Davis.

Across from them, the other girls had different reactions, with Rika blushing lightly as her eye twitched in annoyance, while Jeri and Eri were blushing red, neither used to hearing talks of sex, while Zoe, Yoshi, Nene and the Digimon just twitched their eyes in embarrassment as the pair continued.

However, after a little while, Kari opened her eyes as she stared up into the sky with a very thoughtful and serious look, one that caught the others attention as Yoshi asked. "What is it?"

"Well... I'm still thinking about why we're all here in Witchelny." Kari said in reply as she looked amongst her friends, continuing to express her thoughts and her feelings. "Davis, Tai, Takato, Takuya, Marcus Mikey and Tagiru, I can understand them, like why the Old Man needed them for Quartzmon, and I feel Haru would have been one of the chosen heroes as well if he was there. So why were we brought here with them?"

From Kari's questioning, the girls looked at her with further confusion.

Closing her eyes and continuing her train of thought, a blush lightly forming along Kari's face as she thought aloud. "Davis is the love of my life, and Sora's had a thing for my brother for years, so..."

As the implication of what Kari was suggesting clicked in their minds, the majority of the girls gained bright blushes of their own, with Jeri stammering out. "Well, l... let's not..."

"Jeri, it doesn't take a genius to see you are head over heels for Takato." Gatomon said in a deadpan tone, which only caused the brunette's blush to grow.

"And we've seen the way you look at Takuya, you can't deny that, Zoe." Kari then said as she eyed Zoe, who blushed deeper as she tried not to look the other girls in the eye.

"And we've seen someone get very close with Marcus." Sora added with her own grin as she looked toward Yoshi, who blushed bright red, leaving Lalamon to giggle a little.

The two Digidestined then turned to look at Nene with gleeful smirks, the action causing the brunette idol to gulp lightly at the seemingly turned interrogation.

"Since I believe Mikey has a girlfriend, the last time I checked, and the way you've been acting around I would say..." Kari began to say with a teasing grin.

"Tagiru?" Sora finished, looking intrigued as Nene's blush grew, where the idol tried to say. "No.. it... I..."

"Yep, she even murmurs his name in her sleep." Mervamon cut in with a casual smile, furthering Nene's blush and her embarrassment.

Nene felt astonished, shocked and betrayed by Mervamon's remark, but found her blush growing as Mervamon looked and winked at her.

Wanting to change the focus from her, Nene, along with the others, then looked to Eri, who had a blush on her face, before closing her eyes and declaring defiantly. "As if! Haru is just a friend, nothing more! Besides, he has a girlfriend back home, Ai, and they are so cute together."

With the information provided to them, the girls then looked at one another, before most gained a series of devious smirks and asked in unison. "Astora?"

Eri remained silent and collected, but her blush grew even deeper as she tried sinking into the warm waters, trying to hide the mental images of her and her secret crush going on a date together.

Though there was part of her which was now enjoying this, both spending some private time with her female friends and keeping her skills as a DATS officer sharp, Yoshi looked toward Rika, her expression of clear confusion. "But, what about Ri..."

"Just drop the subject, ok!" The red haired Tamer all but snapped, her sudden outburst causing the others to stop and look at her in surprise, while Renamon and Jeri shared a knowing glance with one another.

Unsure what exactly had set Rika off, but not wanting to cause any conflict, the group thought it was best to drop the subject, but deep down, they were wondering if Kari's thoughts were right, that they were here because of their feelings for the guys.

.

.

.

While the girls continued to enjoy the hot spring, the guys had finished setting up the tents, with Davis and Veemon making dinner for the group as they, the other heroes and Novicmon listened to Mikey, Tagiru, Haru and Astora explain more of their adventures, with the mystic Digimon looking on with awe as he heard the tales of worlds beyond Witchelny.

"Wow... glad we didn't have to deal with someone like Bagramon or Leviathan." Davis remarked from the campfire as he continued cooking and listening in, now having a better understanding of the Old Clock Shop Man and Quartzmon, while grateful the foes he and his friends had faced didn't have the foresight which the rogue AI seemed to possess.

A moment later, Davis felt a presence above him, looking up, before sighing to see Tai standing over him, where the Digidestined of Miracles started to say. "Look, Tai, I know what you're going to say and..."

"Davis..." Tai then said, cutting the maroon haired boy off as the Digidestined of Courage said with a smile. "I am happy for both of you, and I wouldn't trust anyone else to be with Kari."

Surprised a little, Davis then smiled to Tai's approval, before the brunette then said with a deadpan expression. "Just tone it down is all I ask, I don't want to be an uncle yet!"

"Tone it down, just like you and Sora are?" Davis teased in reply, his remark leaving Tai to sweatdrop, before moving over as to talk with the others.

Chuckling a little to his victory, Davis then refocused his attention back on his cooking, finishing off another batch of rice balls, but found his attention taken away from the food as another presence slid itself around him.

Wrapping their arms around from behind, Davis looked over and smiled, looking towards Kari, who looked upon her new boyfriend with a similar smile, before moving in as to give her new the maroon haired Digidestined a quick kiss on the cheek.

Having arrived with the other girls a few moments ago and having missed her beloved, Kari couldn't help herself.

"I'm so happy they're finally together." Gatomon confessed with a warm smile, looking to see Veemon next to her, who was also smiling to see his partner and Kari together.

"Yeah..." Veemon replied, before blushing lightly as he turned to Gatomon and began to say with some nervousness. "And maybe..."

Before he could finish, however, the V-marked Digimon was silenced as Gatomon moved in and gave him a quick kiss on the lips, the action causing Veemon to blush brightly, which left him standing in stunned silence as Gatomon then parted her lips from his and saunted her way past him.

"We should get to dinner before it gets cold." Gatomon remarked, acting calm and collected, but passing Veemon, Gatomon's face lit up with joy at what she had done and what she now felt.

Once Davis had finished cooking, everyone sat together and began enjoying aother meal together, with most of the group noticing Kari sitting closer to Davis, a sight mirrored between Tai and Sora.

However, as she was about to take another bite, Jeri stopped as she overlooked the setting sun, a sight Takato noticed as he asked in concern, seeing her eyes hazy. "Jeri, are you alright?"

"Something's coming." The brunette merely replied, her words and her tone confusing the others as they looked at her.

But before they could question any further, the Digimon and Appmon's senses kicked in, with Guilmon snarling a little, Renamon taking to a protective stance before Rika, which caused the group to also move up and ready themselves for a fight.

It was then that something massive landed quickly on the ground before them, sending off a massive shockwave, which sent a few of the heroes flying back, with Kari, Gatomon, Rika and Renamon flying in the same direction, into a treeline not too far from them.

When the dust cleared, the others saw a large Digimon, resembling a SkullDracomon now glaring down at them, only this undead Digimon had different features.

The first noticeable difference between this Digimon and the SkullDracomon they had faced before was its wings, which were now held together through wisps of spectral energy, while the rest of the body looked like it was encased in bone armour.

On its chest was a second skeletal mouth, with dark purple flames emitting from within, while a series of spikes along its back and head were covered in spider webs, where the creature looked down at the group with glowing dark purple eyes as it growled, the Dark Tribe's Crescent Moon resting on top of its head.

Looking at his D-Bracer, Haru's eyes grew wide as he read off the name of their new foe. "DracoLichmon, a Mega Level."

Hearing the name, Davis' eyes widened as he put two and two together, where he groaned out. "Don't tell me..."

"It's a fusion of a SkullDracomon and Necromon." Mikey finished in a serious and concerned tone, where Shoutmon added with a growing worry. "Which means it can use Digi-Magic as well."

Seeing that they needed to take this new threat before it could do too much damage, the D-Bracers on the groups' arms reacted, all beginning to glow bright and covered the heroes and heroines in pillars of light.

"MagnaVeedramon!"

"Samudramon!"

"MedievalGallantmon!"

"SacredPhoenixmon!"

"CrimsonAldamon!"

"GaleSilphymon!"

"LordShoutmon!"

"ShaolinArresterdramon!"

"AncientMervamon!"

"Sagemon!"

"ShogunOujamon!"

"BardMusimon!"

Fully transformed, along with Marcus and Yoshi gaining their Digital Armour, staring down DracoLichmon, MagnaVeedramon began instructing. "Jeri, Novicmon, you guys just hang back! Lightbearer Ophanimon, you and MysticSakuyamon..."

It was then that realization hit the holy knight Digimon, who looked around as he realized Lightbearer Ophanimon and MysticSakuyamon were not with them, where MangaVeedramon let out in concern. "Where are they?!"

"I think that thing sent them flying, but I thought they were ok." GaleSilphymon said in reply as she looked around for her other friends, but found she couldn't locate them.

Though concerned for Kari, but seeing DracoLichmon looking ready to attack, Samudramon clenched the sheaths of his blades tightly, sliding his feet as he moved into position.

"Let's focus on DracoLichmon first, then we'll look for them." He said, looking over toward MagnaVeedramon, where he could see a similar concern deep within the Digimon of Miracle's eyes as to the whereabouts of Kari and Gatomon.

Clenching his fist and fighting the urge to go look for the duo of Light, along with Rika and Renamon, MagnaVeedramon turned back to his foe, hoping to end this fight quickly, while hoping the girls were alright.

.

.

.

Unbeknownst to the group of heroes, just beyond the treeline the girls were blown to was a large chasm, one the girls fell into after being swept up by the powerful shockwave.

Groaning lightly and allowing consciousness to return to her, Kari slowly opened her eyes, finding her body aching, before the memories of what happened quickly returned to her, causing her to quickly shoot up, only to cry out as her body felt pain running through it.

"Easy!" Rika let out as she placed her hands on the brunette's shoulder, who saw the redhead scrapped up but otherwise alright.

"We took a bad fall. Renamon managed to grab us and take most of the fall, but..." Rika then said.

Looking over at the vixen, Kari saw her sitting on a rock, while her left leg looked fairly injured.

As bad as Renamon looked, however, concern overtook Kari as she saw the unconscious form of Gatomon lying beside Rika's partner.

"She's alright. She's just been knocked out." Renamon informed as she saw the concern in Kari's eyes.

Relieved a little to Renamon's assurance, Kari did her best to relax her body as Rika moved her back to a more comfortable position, resting her head against a smooth rock.

"We.. we need to get back up there, the others need us..." Kari said through the pain she felt, where Rika sighed in frustration.

"You and Gatomon are in no shape to fight, and with Renamon out of commision, my D-Bracer doesn't seem to work, so it looks like we're out of this fight for now." The red haired Tamer said in reply, getting up as she looked around, seeing if she could climb up and get help.

"Davis will find us, I know he will, he..." Kari started to say in confidence, but found some confusion as Rika cut in and suddenly yelled. "Yes, we know, we get it, you love him, enough already!"

Silence reigned after that, with Kari still surprised by the outburst, where, after a few minutes, seeing Rika calm down, the brunette started to apologize. "Sorry, I didn't mean..."

"It's not you it's..." Rika started to say, trying to express her feelings, but instead clenched her fists and just said. "Just forget it, alright?"

"Rika..." Renamon said, getting her Tamer's attention as the vixen then told her Tamer with a calm voice. "Tell her, please. Keeping these feelings bottled up will only make things worse in the end."

Confused further by Rika's emotion and by Renamon's words, Kari looked between the Tamer and her Digimon, seeing Rika's back to her, where she jumped a bit as Rika let out a frustrated growl and kicked a rock, taking a moment to watch the redhead calm down.

Kari was about to tell Rika that it was alright, that she didn't have to say anything, only for Rika to start as she said. "I'm not good at expressing my emotions, so give me a minute here."

Sighing, Rika took a deep breath as she tried to explain her current thoughts and her feelings.

"When I was a kid, my parents' divorced, and my father walked out of my life. Even today, I still haven't seen him again." Rika told Kari, frowning as she remembered her younger years, before meeting Takato and the others, while Kari listened in silence and empathy.

"For a while, I felt angry, alone, that there was nobody there for me... but when they began showing episodes of your adventures on tv, it helped take my mind off my problems." Rika then said, which left Kari to nod in reply, recalling how the other Tamers explained that the Digidestineds' adventures were a television show in their world, which also inspired a whole Card game around the concept, an idea that still felt weird to the brunette.

"As I watched, there was one character I felt so close to, one I looked forward to seeing." Rika then said, continuing as she looked upwards and told Kari. "They tried to portray him as reckless, immature, but all I saw was a brave, kind hearted, if not goofy person, willing to give his all to protect those he cared for."

As Rika gave her description, Kari's eyes slowly began to widen as she realized who the Tamer was talking about, before Rika continued and told her friend. "But that was all it was, a silly crush on a fictional character, nothing more, until Quartzmon, that is..."

Continuing to look upwards, a light smile graced her face. "That fictional character wasn't fiction anymore, he was a real person, right in front of me, and I got to speak with him, finding out he was more than I ever imagined he would be."

"But in the end, it's still a pipe dream, cause no matter what, he'll only have eyes for you." Rika then said with a scowl as she turned and looked at Kari, who was in shock at what she was hearing.

It all made sense to Kari now as to why Rika was acting cold, distant and often aggressive toward her, the Tamer had strong feelings for her boyfriend, Davis Motomiya.

Thinking back and remembering the Quartzmon incident, Kari remembered being pulled into Mikey's world with Tai and the others, being her eight year old self.

And yet, the brunette visibly remembered how Rika would often talk to Davis during their down times between Digi-Quartz battles, and now remembered the light in her eyes.

Before Kari could reply, Rika's anger returned as she told the brunette. "You don't deserve him... he did everything for you, and you either ignored his feelings or used them against him... he deserves better than that!"

Taking a moment to catch her breath, Rika felt slightly better, having gotten her feelings off of her chest, before seeing the downcast look on Kari's face, as though deep in thought about what she had heard.

Silences reigned after that as Rika tried not looking at Kari, trying to find a way up and out of the chasm, while Renamon looked between her partner and Kari, sighing, wondering if it was the right decision in the end.

.

"Holy Strike!" MagnaVeedramon declared from the battle, his chest ablaze with energy that he then released upon DracoLichmon, hoping to take the Dark Digimon down quickly so he could look for Kari and Gatomon and ensure their safety.

However, much to his surprise, and to the surprise of the others, a dark purple energy barrier, much like the ones they saw the Necromon then formed around DracoLichmon's being, repelling the attack, before the undead dragon let out a blast of dark purple flame, causing the group of heroes and heroines to quickly move.

"Circle around and... Oh, shit!" MedievalGallantmon called out as he turned his head, seeing the fire from DracoLichmon's attack break apart and move in different directions, gaining draconic heads as the streams of fire chased after the heroes, who moved to dodge the fiery attacks.

Seeking to protect not only Jeri, but their camp as well, Novicmon quickly used his magical energy to form a barrier around the campsite.

But as the streams of dark fire collided with his barrier, Novicmon groaned to the strain against his being.

However, feeling a comforting hand then resting upon his shoulder, Novicmon looked to see Jeri looking at the barrier with a concerned look.

And yet, for some reason, the mystic Digimon felt a surge of energy uplifting through his being, allowing Novicmon to keep his barrier up and protect the duo.

"Magna Shield!"

"Dynas Protection!"

"Firewall!"

Working together, MagnaVeedramon, MedievalGallantmon and Marcus created protective barriers around their friends and themselves, protecting the group from DracoLichmon's flames.

But from his position, MangaVeedramon noticed the buildup of dark energy within the creature's chest mouth, knowing DracoLichmon would soon strike.

"Courageous Spirit!" LordShoutmon declared as he moved in front of his friends, summoning his energy aura as it took a larger form of himself, which then blocked the massive blast from the undead Digimon.

Falling to his knees in pain as the attack died down, his aura fading with it, LordShoutmon then looked to see several orbs of dark purple energy form around DracoLichmon, where they began firing blasts of energy at the heroes, who quickly moved around, trying to attack their foe.

"Holy Strike!"

"Rinkageki!"

"Rage of Wyvern!"

"Sacred Flame!"

"Crimson Force!"

"Hurricane Spiral!"

"Flaming Destruction!"

"Violet Blast!"

"Omni Force!"

"Inferno Spiral!"

"Passion Shot!"

"Gaia Link!"

"Golden Arrow!"

"Ballistic Barrage!"

Striking together, the heroes tried piercing DracoLichmon's barrier as they dodged his attacks, but found the energy protecting the Dark Digimon to be much stronger than their attacks.

Seeing his friends in danger, Sagemon brought his staff closer to him, closing his eyes as he then said. "Wisdom's Gaze."

At his words, the orb on his staff began to glow blue, where, within his mind's eye, Sagemon saw the entire battlefield and focused deeply upon DracoLichmon, trying to find a weakness toward the Dark Digimon.

Then, finding what he was looking for, Sagemon's eyes snapped out as he looked at Samudramon, SacredPhoenixmon and Yoshi as he called out. "His barrier doesn't go underground!"

Understanding what Sagemon meant, Yoshi was the first to act, moving her hands around as she called out. "Nature's Wrath!"

From beneath DracoLichmon's feet, hundreds of vines and roots emerged from the ground, wrapping around the undead dragon's feet and causing it to roar in rage.

"Kikurin's Wrath!"

"Blazing Spear Strike!"

Slamming their weapons into the ground, Samudramon and SacredPhoenixmon sent up pillars of lava and lightning from the ground beneath DracoLichmon, causing the Dark Digimon to screech in pain, where the rest of the heroes and heroines saw its energy barrier shatter.

"Now! Strike him now!" LordShoutmon yelled, causing the others to agree as they unleashed everything upon the undead dragon.

"Holy Strike!"

"Rinkageki!"

"Rage of Wyvern!"

"Sacred Flame!"

"Arcane Inferno!"

"Arcane Twister!"

"Flaming Destruction!"

"Violet Blast!"

"Omni Force!"

"Thunder Force!"

"Ancient Blaze!"

"Gaia Link!"

"Golden Arrow!"

"Rhythmic Stream!"

Striking the injured Dark Digimon, the heroes watched their attacks consume DracoLichmon, who cried out in pain as his body began to break apart.

But instead of bursting into Data like their other foes, the heroes watched in confusion as the undead dragon's body seemed to melt into a dark, liquid-like shadow, which shot into the air, before flying quickly away, almost as though his being wasn't made of Data at all.

Putting the strange thought aside for now, MagnaVeedrmaon then flew towards the area Kari, Rika and their partners were last seen, followed closely by the others as they searched for their friends.

.

.

.

As the battle above finished, the two girls and Renamon remained silent as they prayed their friends would find them.

Meanwhile, despite her appearance, her head still down, Kari actually felt relieved.

For a long time, Kari had felt guilty, felt unworthy of Davis for all she had done and said to him in the past, getting angry at him over little, petty things, while at time using his feeling to get the maroon haired boy to do something she watched, mentally justifying it as a means to reign in his old habits.

She even remembered berating him for how he treated his own sister, before actually meeting Jun, finding she mentally agreed with Davis, and never apologized for how she acted to her current boyfriend.

And despite this, her friends have constantly told her to let go of the past, that she wasn't to blame, a feeling she did not share, which made Rika's declaration all the more important to her, happy to know that there was someone on Davis' side in all of this.

"You're right..." Kari then said, breaking the silence as Rika and Renamon looked at her, where the brunette looked at the Tamer and said. "I took his feelings for granted back then, and have spent so many years regretting how I treated him."

"But I promised myself, if the day ever came..." The Digidestined of Light added as she tried to sit up, groaning a little from the pain, where she then said. "I promised if I even was in his arms, that I was ever able to be with him, that I would spend the rest of my life making it up to him."

"Thank you, Rika." Kari then said, surprising the redhead as the Digidestined of Light then continued. "I am happy that there is someone else who can look out for him, and keep me in check in case I screw up."

"I'm sorry this hurts you, but I promise, I will never do anything to hurt him." Kari finished, watching the Tamer blink her eyes for a moment, before smirking.

"You better not, or I'll be there, I can promise you that." Rika said in reply, causing both girls to smile, before they and Renamon saw a bright light appear above the chasm.

Looking up, the three saw MagnaVeedramon looking down from above, where the holy knight Digimon called out behind him. "I found them!"

Descending, the Biomerged form of Davis and Veemon asked in concern. "Are you guys alright?"

"Gatomon and Renamon are a little beat up, but otherwise we're alright." Kari said in reply as she tried to get up, with Rika moving to help up the Digidestined of Light.

Soon enough, with Gatomon in her arms, Kari, Rika and Renamon rested in MagnaVeedramon's arms as he brought them back to the surface, where the Digidestined of Light rested her head against his chest, smiling to see Rika doing the same, showing how exhausted she really was, both glad to be saved by the one they cared for.

.

.

.

Opening her eyes slowly as consciousness returned to her, Gatomon's sight was greeted by Veemon, finding the Digimon of Miracles looking down at her with concern, which left Gatomon with a small and sweet smile, before seeing Novicmon doing the same, about to question what he was doing, before realizing his hands were hovering over her as a green aura covered them, while feeling a light energy flowing through her, feeling her soreness dissolving and feeling refreshed.

"Um, thanks." Gatomon said as she sat up, seeing that Kari was also fine as she watched with Davis beside her, her partner, Rika and Renamon looked much better.

"No problem, nothing a little healing magic won't fix." The Mystic Digimon replied proudly, causing the others to smile at his enthusiasm.

Seeing that their friends were alright, Nene then spoke up as she looked at the other and asked. "What happened there with DracoLichmon? I've never seen a Digimon dissolve like that before."

"I'm not sure myself. I've heard of other Digimon from the Dark Tribe doing the same thing, but nobody knows exactly why." Novicmon replied, having heard tales of various dark creatures the Dark Tribe have been using, and of acting the same way if defeated.

"Speaking on that..." Tagiru then said, looking over at Jeri as he asked. "How did you know it was coming?"

"I... I don't know, I just felt it." Jeri said in reply, unsure how to answer herself.

"I'm just glad you are alright." Davis said as he looked toward Kari, who smiled back in reply.

"If it weren't for Rika, things might have been worse." Kari then said, causing her boyfriend to look at the redhead with a smile.

"Thank you, Rika, I owe you." Davis said with a smile, where Kari noticed the blush on the redhead's face as she looked away and tried to act like her normal self. "It was nothing."

Smiling, the group decided to turn in for the night, with Davis and Veemon taking the night watch in the event another attack occurred as they tried to get some sleep before heading to the Light Tribe the next day.

And yet, as she rested in their tent, Kari found herself deep in thought.

With Rika's feelings for Davis, the brunette realized that her theory might be right, that she and the other girls were brought to Witchelny because of their feelings for their significant others.

But if that's true, then why were the boys brought to this world then?

.

.

.

Within the Dark Citadel, DeathTactimon watched the scenes of the battle unfold, taking in the fighting styles of the heroes and heroines, or at least those present, and committing their actions to memory.

Unlike many, the dark tactical Digimon did not see a loss as defeat, merely a means to learn about his foes, their strengths and weaknesses, in order to bring them down.

"You sent one of our DracoLichmon after them?!" Charonmon raged as he entered the room, his eyes glaring at DeathTactimon as he added in further annoyance. "Do you know how hard it is to create them?!"

"Its defeat was worth the information." DeathTactimon replied, continuing to look over the imagery, where he added in his superior tone. "Plus, it confirms my suspicions, they are heading for the Light Tribe."

"The Light Tribe?! Why would they be heading there?!" Charonmon questioned, before the pair saw the shadowy liquid that was DracoLichmon fly into the room and past them, where the liquid entered a shadow and seemed to merge into it, the shadow of the Dark Lady herself as she approached the pair.

"They believe they can strike an alliance between the Light and Fire Tribes, to try and stand against me." The leader of the Dark Tribe stated, surprising Charonmon that the heroes would be foolish enough to attempt such a thing.

And yet, the possibility of them succeeding worried Charonmon even more, for it could possibly turn the tide of their War for Witchelny.

"Inform Draculmon, and remind him of the price of failure." The Dark Lady then said as she walked past her two advisors and to her personal chamber, the two bowing as she passed, knowing what would await the heroes within the realm of the Light Tribe.
