Ok so as I have been reading through this I found a lot of things I didn't like so I am hoping this will turn out much better.
Chapter 3
The kiss from last night was still on Leah's mind. She really wasn't sure why it even happened. Angel had Leah assigned to his office for the time being. Spike approached her seeing her fiddling with things on her desk. He knew he was more than ready to move on. After learning Buffy had moved on, It was difficult at first but he had time to get over her. For a good few years he stayed away from women learning to overcome his past mistakes. Now he seemed to feel more better about himself after taking time.
Many women have crossed his path and he learned to avoid them. Having a soul taught him to change a lot of his views on things realizing he was the man he was before losing his soul.
Leah was the first girl that caught his attention in a long time. She was a slayer but wasn't anything like Buffy making it easier for him knowing Leah was more easy going. She was beautiful with her long dark hair and blue eyes. For Spike, it had been a while since he had come across a women that attractive.
"Hey," Leah looked up at him.
"So Angel has you here I heard?" Spike asked her.
"Yep, guess you can call me security."
Spike smiled at that a little. "A tough job for a woman like you."
"What's that suppose to mean?" Leah questioned him.
He took a step closer looking into her eyes. "A pretty girl like yourself willing to protect everyone here. I admire that."
"Stop flirting Spike, why not go bug Angel?" He could tell she was getting a little annoyed with him. That didn't seem to phase him at all. With her not like Buffy he knew he had a chance to get to her easier.
"Excuse me who kissed who last night?" Spike reminded her.
"You did duh," Leah rolled her eyes.
Angel came towards them with a guy in military gear following him. Both her and Spike looked his direction and she immediately recognized him. "Derek?" She walked up to him hugging him. He wrapped his arms around her hugging her back.
"Nice to see you again," he hugged her.
Spike noticed the attractive man hugging her with lighter blue eyes than her and dark hair. A little jealousy started to hit him seeing the way he was hugging her. "Let me guess distant boyfriend?" Spike wondered.
The guy looked over at Spike a snickering at that. "You're not serious right?"
"It's her brother," Angel looked at him.
Hearing that gave Spike a sense of relief. "I'm Derek," he introduced himself offering his hand.
Spike took it shaking it. "Spike."
"He's almost out of the military," Leah spoke.
"Is he English?" Derek looked at Leah.
"Yes."
"Wait a second you guys are vampires. I've had a run in with some in the military." Derek said a little cautious. he was able to identify humans from vampires. It was something he learned himself.
"These are good guys and they have both have souls," she whispered to him.
"Wow never heard of that one. They know about you right?" Leah started to get annoyed with the questions.
"Yes idiot."
Derek looked at her and back at them. "Sorry he's a little protective of me," Leah apologized.
"It's ok I get it," Angel said being understanding.
"Spike and I met when I was out going after some robbers. It caught me off guard at first seeing he a vampire help me out a coupe of years ago. We've been friends ever since," Leah explained to Derek.
"She is a tough one," Spike replied.
Derek noticed the way Spike was looking at her. He knew he must have felt some sort of an attraction towards her. It wasn't the same way that he had seen most guys look at her like they only wanted one thing. Derek was good at reading other guys and what they wanted. Spike for some reason seemed different than all the others. It was enough to show him that was not all he was after.
Angel had Leah walk with him for a moment to get some stuff out of the supply room leaving Derek and Spike there.
"You like my sister don't you?" Derek questioned him.
"Yes," Spike looked at him with his arms folded.
"She hasn't been with anyone in a long time. Last person she dated was in college and it didn't work out because of other interests. It took her a while to get over it. He was kind of a doofus but was nice to her. Also yer better looking," Derek replied.
"Thanks I guess," Spike said not sure how to respond to that.
"All I'm saying is don't hurt her if you plan on being with her. The way you looked at her I could tell there were feelings there. So what happened?"
"I kissed her that was it mate. I didn't expect to have these feelings again but it happened. I'm in love with her and have been for these past few months." Spike admitted.
"Just be patient with her," Derek advised him.
Leah came back with Angel carrying a few supplies into his office. Both Derek and Spike headed their direction.
As the evening hit Leah did a few small jobs before being let off early. She walked by the graveyard sensing Spike near by. Leah stopped a second then turned around walking towards the graveyard. She saw Spike from a short distance and a vampire jumped in front of her. She punched him and the vampire tried getting up to attack her. She side kicked him away from her finding a stick on the ground with a sharp end. They ran towards her and she drove it through the vampire watching him wither to dust.
Spike saw her walking her direction throwing his cigarette on the ground. "Not bad, it reminds me of old times."
"What is there not any other slayers around?"
"No, not anymore. The slayer counsel was killed off by demons and other vampires. There are only a few left and now you." Spike explained.
"So what about the ones that are left?"
"We protect what we have left," Angel said appearing behind her.
They both looked back seeing Angel standing there. "Nice of you to show up," Spike stood there behind Leah.
"There's something different about you. I can't quite figure it out," Angel said sensing it.
"I've noticed that as well." Spike said finally not feeling like he was the only one who sensed it.
"Makes sense on how elder vampires have good senses." Leah shrugged agreeing. "Can we talk about this somewhere else and not out here?"
Angel lead her to his apartment and Spike followed behind. They arrived and Angel shut the door behind him. Leah sat on the couch and Spike sat next to her. Angel sat in the chair in front of them.
"So what it is?" Angel asked her.
"You know the whole thing if one slayer dies another is born. My mother was close to giving birth to me and she got attacked and bitten by a vampire. Someone found her and brought her to the hospital. She died and I survived. My dad took me in with my step mom who helped raised me. Dad was head MD and scientist, he took some test finding strange DNA in my blood. Then he learned it was vampire DNA. Not only did I learn I was a slayer when I was older but I also had traits of a vampire as well as strength, being able to see well at night. Makes me a little stronger than the average slayer." She explained.
"So you're like a hybrid?" Angel asked her.
"Yeah, I don't drink blood and I'm not dead. Any vampire that gets a hold of my blood it will make them stronger. I had one bite me when I was out. He was stronger but luckily my brother killed him before he got the chance to hurt anyone else. I can't believe I'm telling you this. It's not something I'm proud of it's just something I've had to live with."
"Why didn't you come to me? We've been trying to protect any slayer that has come through here," Angel said concerned.
"I heard about you two being the all mighty do gooders."
"I wasn't expecting to hear that but either way were glad you told us," Spike said nicely.
"Don't worry your secret is safe." Angel assured her.
Angel's phone rang and he got up to answer it. "I won't let anything happen to you," Spike said meaning every word.
"Thank you." Leah rubbed her hand along the side of his cheek. Just having her touch him the way she did made him remembered what it felt like to be touched again.
"That was Derek, want a beer?" Angel asked them.
"He called to talk you in to a beer?" Leah snickered.
"Why not love?" Spike looked at her.
"Fine whatever," Leah said getting up from the couch following Angel out with Spike behind her.
