Digimon Adventure: Destiny's Heroes

A group of Digital Heroes have been pulled to a world unlike any they've seen before, one being overrun and oppressed by a powerful evil. Seeking to find what brought them there, the heroes unite to learn why they were summoned and stop the Dark Forces in their tracks, while dealing with new, developing feelings amongst them. 16. Chapter 16

Panic quickly consumed the Light Tribe Digimon as they looked up and upon the Beast that was Draculmon's Castle, which let out another fierce roar, while its Master looked upon MagnaVeedramon and Lightbearer Ophanimon with a dark disdain.

"We'll handle that thing, you two focus on BloodDraculmon!" Samudramon declared as he looked to MagnaVeedramon and Lightbearer Ophanimon, the pair nodding in reply, before looking at the rest of the heroes and heroines, along with Celestimon, who took off to battle the beast, leaving their light infused friends to deal with the Dark General.

"You shall wish they never left, Dark Shriek!" BloodDraculmon bellowed as he opened his mouth and emitted a high-pitched shriek, the piercing sound causing both MagnaVeedramon and Lightbearer Ophanimon to cover their ears as the buildings and streets caught in the blast began to crack and shatter.

Seeing his foes distracted and disoriented by his attack, BloodDraculmon then launched at the duo, his claws igniting in dark fire as he declared with bloodlust. "Shadow Slasher!"

"Magna Saber!" MagnaVeedramon quickly called out as he brought his blades out to block the vampiric Digimon's strike.

Letting out another shriek, his gaping maw moving closer and closer to the holy knight Digimon's face, BloodDraculmon looked ready to bite his head off.

"Divine Calling!" Lightbearer Ophanimon called out to protect MagnaVeedramon.

Rings of light formed around the celestial Digimon, who then released the light at the Dark General, the impact causing BloodDraculmon to break off his attack and quickly move aside to avoid the blasts, letting the two heroes see his increased speed through his Dark evolution.

"Dark Swarm!" BloodDraculmon then called as a series of dark portals opened around him, before a swarm of dark energy bats emerged from them, rushing towards MagnaVeedramon and Lightbearer Ophanimon with the intent to kill them.

"Holy Strike!"

"Divine Calling!"

Moving together, MagnaVeedramon and Lightbearer Ophanimon avoided the bat swarm as they unleashed their light-based attacks upon the dark energy creatures, destroying them in the process.

"Full Force Strike!" MagnaVeedramon declared in retaliation as his body shone with a powerful light, before he charged forward, cutting through the remaining dark energy bats as he surged towards BloodDraculmon.

"Darkness Embrace!" The Dark General yelled back, where dark energy surged around him and took the form of a large bat, before he lunged at MagnaVeedramon, meeting his foe head on as their attacks collided with one another, letting off a shockwave that caused both to growl against the strain as they pushed against one another.

"Holy Judgement!" Lightbearer Ophanimon announced, bringing her light halos together and firing a powerful blast at BloodDraculmon, causing a massive explosion, where she saw MagnaVeedramon fly up towards her, before the pair frowned to see the Dark General exit the smoke unharmed, ready to continue his battle with them.

Meanwhile, the rest of the heroes and heroines either flew towards or moved into a position to strike the Castle Beast, where they saw a Lichmon and a small number of Necromon fly from the Beast and towards the towering containment device holding the Celestial Light, circling around it as they began chanting, most likely trying to extract the primordial fragment's energy.

"We need to end this fight now and stop them!" Samudramon let out, causing the others to nod as they unleashed their attacks upon the monster.

"Rinkageki!"

"Rage of Wyvern!"

"Sacred Flame!"

"Full Spirit Wave!"

"Arcane Inferno!"

"Arcane Twister!"

"Omni Force!"

"Thunder Force!"

"Ancient Blaze!"

"Gaia Link!"

"Golden Arrow!"

"Rhythmic Stream!"

"Celestial Barrage!" Celestimon declared with a further might as a circle of light formed around her, which she then unleashed as a barrage of light beams.

Sending her light forth, the power of Celestimon moved alongside the heroes and heroines', which headed toward the Castle Beast, colliding with its head and causing a massive explosion, where the Light Tribe ruler and her allies heard the creature let out a pained cry.

However, upon the smoke clearing, the group saw that the Beast was only lightly scared, and was very angry as it opened his maw, where a stream of dark purple flames spewed out, causing the group to scatter and avoid the attack, which took out not only several buildings below, but a small portion of the remaining Dark Tribe Digimon as well.

The Beast then threw its head back as dark energy coursed along its being, which then shot out and tried striking its enemies in the form of dark lightning, which the heroes and heroines, along with the Light Tribe Digimon still fighting in the skies, did their best to avoid as the DarkThrallmon, DarkMothmon, Spectremon and BloodDracomon were struck by the dark energy, dissolving into Data particles with painful cries.

"We must stop this Beast before it destroys my people!" Celestimon said with concern, a feeling the heroes and heroines all shared as they tried to find a way to stop the monstrosity from causing any more damage.

"Magna Saber!"

"Striking Light!"

"Shadow Slasher!"

Moving in flashes of light and darkness, MagnaVeedramon and Lightbearer Ophanimon moved their blades and clashing with BloodDraculmon's claws, the Dark General laughing as the two light infused heroes looked to see their friends battling the Castle Beast above, with SacredPhoenixmon moving aside as the creature tried to strike at her with its clawed fingers.

"Whether by my hand or my pet's, your time is up. This city and the Light Tribe will fall!" The vampiric Digimon declared with a dark laugh as he pushed the MagnaVeedramon and Lightbearer Ophanimon back, laughing as he believed he had won the battle.

"You haven't won yet, fiend!" Lightbearer Ophanimon said back in retaliation, feeling both Kari and Gatomon disdain for the forces of darkness and their connection to the light as she then said. "The light is stronger than you will ever know!"

"It isn't about pride or arrogance, it is about chivalry, kindness and protecting those who need protecting." MagnaVeedramon then added with his own conviction, feeling Davis and Veemon's trust and care for Kari and Gatomon, feeling their changed viewpoints on the Light and what it means to them.

"We will stop you and save the Light Tribe!" MagnaVeedramon and Lightbearer Ophanimon declared together, both feeling their hearts and souls sync as one.

It was then that a pulse of light seemed to escape the dark containment device, causing the Lichmon and the Necromon to cry in pain as their concentration was broken, before both MagnaVeedramon and Lightbearer Ophanimon began to glow with a bright light, much to BloodDraculmon's surprise, while catching everyone else's attention, even the Castle Beast's.

When the light faded, everyone was shocked to see that MagnaVeedramon and Lightbearer Ophanimon seemed to have fused together into a single Digimon, a being slightly larger than SacredPhoenixmon, resembling a massive, almost crystal-like dragon with four, massive wings that radiated light, where the new Digimon, the combination of Davis, Kari, Veemon and Gatomon brought its head up and let out a loud roar, its radiating light bringing hope to the heroes, heroines and Light Tribe Digimon, while bringing fear to the Dark Tribe Digimon.

"AscendedDracomon!" Sagemon told the others with a tone of clear awe as all looked upon the holy dragon Digimon, looking at the D-Bracer information in his mind's eyes, where he added with confusion. "But I'm not getting any extra data on it."

"Which probably means that it's beyond a Mega." LordShoutmon remarked to the others as they looked upon the amazing fused form of their friends.

BloodDraculmon, meanwhile, felt what was left of his mind devolve into bestial rage, the anger over his foes seeming to defy everything he had worked for consuming him as he let out a high pitched shriek, causing his Castle Beast to let out a roar as it moved down and forcing the flying heroes and heroines to quickly move out of the way, while those below moved out of the creature's landing zone.

As the Castle Beast landed within the city, the dark lightning bounced off its form as it struck the buildings and ground, while several more buildings crumbled beneath the creature's feet and claws, where it let out a fierce roar at AscendedDracomon.

"Burn them!" BloodDraculmon demanded with a blood curtailing fury, where the beast let out another roar as dark fire began gathering in its mouth, along with the dark energy, horrifying the other heroes and heroines as the Beast then unleashed a powerful blast at AscendedDracomon, the attack causing a massive explosion in the process and causing the Dark General to smile wickedly, thinking that he had destroyed his foes once and for all.

However, the smile faded when BloodDraculmon saw the smoke disappear, revealing a massive light barrier before AscendedDracomon, where the Dark General then saw the holy dragon's mouth open and the light energy flowing from the barrier and into its mouth as it prepared for a powerful blast.

"Darkness Embrace!" BloodDraculmon bellowed as he was consumed in dark energy, where he launched himself at AscendedDracomon.

However, much to the Dark General's dismay, it was at that moment that AscendedDracomon unleashed its attack, firing a powerful blast of light that not only collided with BloodDraculmon, canceling out his attack, but sent him flying backwards as the blast propelled him straight through his Castle Beast's chest, slamming through several walls and through his own throne, before slamming into the creature's core, caught between the energy blast and the core as the vampiric Digimon screamed in pain.

Meanwhile, with the light energy continuing to pour into its being, the Castle Beast brought its head up with a pained roar as light began to shine through every opening on the castle around it, before cracks began forming around its being, shining with the same light as the same light began pouring from the beast's mouth.

Between the light energy slamming into him and the raw energy of the Digi-core he was pressed against, BloodDraculmon continued to scream in agony, disbelief and rage, before he dissolved into Data particles, where the Castle Beast exploded in a bright light a moment later, causing AscendedDracomon to end its attack and for the rest of the Dark Tribe Digimon to begin fleeing at their general's defeat, leaving the heroes, heroines and Light Tribe Digimon to cheer for AscendedDracomon's victory, who let out a loud, triumphant roar in the process.

"Blazing Blade!"

"Violet Blast!"

Working together with Novicmon, Nyarukimon and the Light Tribe Digimon with them, Marcus and Yoshi tried to break the containment device and free the Celestial Light.

However, a spark of dark and light energy caused the group to back up as it shot up through the containment device and into the sky above, causing those outside, including AscendedDracomon, to turn as a large mass of light and dark energy began to form close to the containment tower.

But as the mass of energy began to take shape, most were horrified, while AscendedDracomon became more aggressive as it took the form of ShadowDevimon's upper body, with the disembodied Digimon letting out a sinister laugh.

"Look upon me, oh, Holy Light Tribe! See what your precious Light has done! I am reborn, a God now!" The deranged Digimon declared, looking down at AscendedDracomon, who roared in defiance at him.

"Now I will crush your 'heroes', tear your city apart and...!" ShadowDevimon started to say, only to stop when he realized that AscendedDracomon, the heroes, and the Light Tribe Digimon were not looking at him, but behind him.

Turning around slowly, ShadowDevimon watched as the containment device seemed to be cracking and breaking from within, the energies of the Celestial Light pushing through, where a massive crack opened and a great light shone upon ShadowDevimon.

And through the light, the demon Digimon felt something ancient and powerful looking back at him.

"Oh, shit..." ShadowDevimon could only say, before the light began shooting through his being, causing him to scream as the energies holding him broke apart, ending his existence, before the entire containment device shattered, sending out a massive shockwave of light energy.

As the energy shot out, covering the entire city, revitalizing the Light Tribe Digimon and heroes, while causing the remaining Dark Tribe Digimon to scream in pain as they dissolved, a familiar arm appeared from a dark portal, holding a smaller containment device out as the light energy passed by.

"Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow...!" Sciophobimon repeated in an annoyed tone as he then pulled his singed arm back through the portal, showing the containment device now holding a small portion of the Celestial Light, where the jester-like Digimon looked as his arm healed, before looking at the containment device and stated vengefully. "I'll get you all for that!"

And before the light faded, the jester-like Digimon disappeared in a dark wisp, leaving none the wiser as the Celestial Light returned to normal, resembling the same beacon of light that had inspired the Light Tribe since its founding, causing the Digimon to cheer once again, along with AscendedDracomon.

After giving a great roar, AscendedDracomon turned back into a massive surge of pure light, which then reverted back to Davis, Kari, Veemon and Gatomon, all of whom lay unconscious on the ground.

Disengaging from their fused forms, their friends rushed to check on them.

Seeing that the four were alright, just tired after using so much energy, Celestimon, LordPaladinmon and LightTactimon joined the group to observe their heroes, alongside Marcus, Yoshi, their partners, Novicmon and Nyarukimon.

The battle was over, and the Light Tribe was saved.

Hours after the battle, as the civilian Digimon outside began rebuilding their city and the warrior Digimon honoured their fallen brethren, after Davis, Kari and their partners recovered, the heroes, heroines and Novicmon met with Celestimon, LordPaladinmon, LightTactimon and Nyarukimon within the throne room, to speak about their alliance.

"While our losses were great, they would have been far worse had our new allies not aided us." LightTactimon said to his ruler as he looked to the heroes, particularly Davis, Kari and their partners, who smiled in reply.

"And despite ShadowDevimon's deception, much of our archives are safe, and the Celestial Light has returned to normal." Nyarukimon informed her leader with her own pride, her words causing Celestimon to nod in reply, before looking at the heroes and heroines.

"You risked everything for my tribe, even after the way we treated you upon your arrival. For that, you have our eternal gratitude." Celestimon said to the heroes and heroines, who nodded in reply.

"I know I feel like I am repeating myself, but It won't take long for the Dark Lady to send forces back here, and the barrier is gone, leaving the capital even more vulnerable. You cannot fight this battle alone." Davis said with a serious tone, his words causing Celestimon to turn and look upon the Celestial Light.

"We have allowed our arrogance, our pride, our feeling of the past to guide us for so long. No longer! We will reclaim our lands and strike at our true enemies for what they have done." Celestimon said, before turning to LordPaladinmon and commanding. "LordPaladinmon, prepare an envoy to the Fire Tribe. Tell Infernomon we will join his alliance!"

Upon hearing this, Davis and the rest of his friends and allies let out a cheer, along with most of the Light Tribe Digimon in the room, with the heroes and heroines overjoyed to hear that they had succeeded, and that the alliance would now begin to form.

Looking at Nyarukimon, the Light Tribe ruler then said to the mystic feline Digimon. "Nyarukimon, with ArchBishopmon... gone, I will need you to fill in his role as chief mystic for now."

Nyarukimon's eyes widened, both in shock and surprise, unsure if she was ready for such a position, not after being tricked by ShadowDevimon for so long.

However, feeling a hand on her shoulder, Nyarukimon looked to see Novicmon smiling at her and giving her an affirmative nod, causing her confidence to increase as she looked back at Celestimon and said with a continued respect in her voice. "Of course, my Lady, I will not fail you."

Celestimon nodded her own head in thanks, before turning her focus back to the heroes and heroines, saying with a kind and thankful voice. "I know the journey ahead is still a long one for you, but please, spend the night here and allow us to honour what you have done for us."

Looking at one another, the group smiled, accepting Celestimon's offer and looking forward to some relaxation after the battle they just had.

As the sun set, the Capital of the Light Tribe was ablaze once more, not by fire or battle, but with fireworks as the light Digimon celebrated their victory over Draculmon and the Dark Tribe, with the heroes and heroines at the center of the party, within Celestimon's castle's halls.

"Now this is a party!" Tagiru remarked with a big grin as he and Gumdramon chowed down on the various foods brought to them by the light Digimon, the heroes and heroines all enjoying the party as some of the Digimon danced on the floor before the table.

"You're telling us!" Marcus' Agumon said in reply, with him and his partner also enjoying the food, while Yoshi and Lalamon sighed at the sight of the pair and their eating habits.

"There is one other good thing about this party." Mikey then said with a smile, getting most of the group's attention as he pointed to the dance floor, gesturing toward Davis and Kari, who were dancing together, both enjoying each other's company, while Veemon and Gatomon did the same near them.

Looking toward the couples, many smiled, namely to see the clear effort Veemon had placed into learning how to dance, just for Gatomon, the romantic mood remained as not too far off, Tai and Sora were dancing as well, an action Takato and Jeri mimicked.

Though it was a time of celebration, Zoe sat far away from her friends and allies, a sad look on her face as she watched the happiness around her, feeling anger and self-doubt over what she had done during her time under Draculmon's dark corruption.

However, the blonde felt a comforting hand on her shoulder, causing her to look up and smile slightly to see Takuya looking back at her with a caring smile.

"Hey, you alright?" The Warrior of Fire asked as he took a seat next to the girl he loved, wrapping his arm comfortingly around her shoulder, where he smiled as she leaned her head on his shoulder.

"I'm angry at myself for what happened." Zoe replied in an honest tone, continuing to watch her friends enjoy themselves as she began to say. "If you hadn't stopped me, I could have…"

"Don't beat yourself over that, Zoe. You had no control over your actions, and none of us knew Draculmon was capable of that. I am just glad I was able to get through to you." Takuya told Zoe, blushing at the last part, along with the blonde.

"Did... did you really mean that... what you said?" Zoe found herself asking as she looked at Takuya with hope and a clear blush.

But looking over Takuya, Zoe could see his blush growing, alongside a nervous expression.

"Yeah, I did, I…" Takuya started to say, expressing the emotion deep within his heart, but found his words cut off as Zoe leaned forward and placed her lips against his in a sudden kiss.

His eyes widening at Zoe's boldness, but feeling the warmth and love within her kiss, Takuya closed his eyes, set his arms around Zoe's waist and returned the kiss, both enjoying the moment as their friends watched and smiled from afar.

For the moment, everything seemed right in the world to the heroes and heroines, and that the dangers of Witchelny were behind them for the time being.

Within the Dark Citadel, Charonmon seethed with anger at Draculmon's failure as DeathTactimon and Wraithmon rewatched the Dark General's defeat, both shaking their heads at the vampiric Digimon's stupidity.

"That idiot! He had every possible moment to strike the heroes down, claim our Lady's prizes and call for reinforcements! His vanity has cost us another defeat!" The dark mystic Digimon let out in anger as he watched the battle once again.

"Where did Sciophobimon run off to now?" DeathTactimon pondered as he watched the fight, seeing the jester-like Digimon disappear from the battle. "He abandoned the battlefield!"

"Did someone call my name?" The familiar voice of Sciophobimon questioned as he appeared before the trio in a dark wisp, causing Charonmon and his companions to glare at their ally.

"You abandoned Draculmon. Tell me why I shouldn't have your head removed?!" Charonmon asked as he moved closer to the jester-like Digimon, waiting for an answer, before his eyes widened as Sciophobimon pulled out the container holding the small portion of the Celestial Light.

"Getting this while that fool messed up." Sciophobimon said in reply, as he withdrew out a second container. "It should go well with this."

Upon closer look at the second container, Charonmon's eyes widened to see a small portion of the Eternal Flame encased within, this causing Charonmon to question the jester-like Digimon. "And how did you get your hands on that?!"

"I snuck in when the fire losers were celebrating Lycanmon's defeat. Just slipped in and out." Sciophobimon said in reply, before both containers levitated out of his hands and flew to the other side of the room, and into the Dark Lady's hands.

"Yes... this is a start, but I need more." The leader of the Dark Tribe remarked as she looked at her servants. "Tell the remaining Generals to press their advances."

"What of the alliance between the Fire and Light Tribes, my Lady?" Charonmon asked in some concern.

"DeathTactimon, prepare our defense forces to counter this... alliance, and keep them out of our lands." The Dark Lady commanded, causing DeathTactimon to bow obediently.

Turning her attention to Charonmon, Wraithmon and Sciophobimon, the Dark Lady then said. "Meanwhile, you three continue to aid the rest of my forces, and deal with the heroes."

"As you wish, my Lady." Charonmon replied as he and his comrades bowed, the dark mystic already formulating a plan to deal with the heroes and claim the Dark Lady's chosen, as he watched the leader of the Dark Tribe left with the portions of primordial fragments in hand, ready to continue her grand plan, no matter the cost.

Author's note: The battle for the Light Tribe's capital is over and the Light Tribe has joined the Alliance, but the Dark Tribe got away with a consolation prize. What are the Dark Lady's true plans? Stay tuned to find out as the adventure continues.
