Digimon Adventure: Destiny's Heroes

A group of Digital Heroes have been pulled to a world unlike any they've seen before, one being overrun and oppressed by a powerful evil. Seeking to find what brought them there, the heroes unite to learn why they were summoned and stop the Dark Forces in their tracks, while dealing with new, developing feelings amongst them. (special thanks to Liquidphazon) (M for later chapters).

24. Chapter 24

Taking Tsunamimon's offer, the heroes and heroines decided to explore the Water Tribe's capital, breaking off and separating into groups to see the sights, while being respectful to the city's inhabitants.

Tai, Sora, Marcus, Yoshi, Mikey, Tagiru, Nene and their partners went to the city walls with TyphoonShogunmon and AquaTactimon to see the city's defences, while Takuya and Zoe explored the city together.

Guiding their guests along, MasterAquamon lead Jeri, Novicmon, Takato, Rika and their partners to the Water Tribe's Library, a vast storage of knowledge that rivaled that of the Magic School, where, despite the animosity between their tribes, the chief mystic of the Water Tribe allowed Novicmon and his friends to explore the archives and use whatever knowledge they could find to help them on their journey ahead.

Meanwhile, Haru, Eri, Astora and the Appmon wandered around the city, with the Apptuber still in a bad mood at having to get back into his more passive and disciplined personality as his friends tried to cheer him up.

"Come on, Asotra, lighten up." Gatchmon said to the blond, adding with a smile. "Thanks to you, Tsunamimon might actually join the alliance."

"I know, I know." Astora replied, before adding with a small growl. "Still..."

Smiling as he then looked around, taking in the waterways of the city and seeing many aquatic Digimon swimming beneath, Haru changed the subject as he commented. "This world definitely is different from the Net of our world."

"Tell me about it." Eri said in reply as she looked around, taking in the scenery and all the Digimon that passed her field of vision. "These Digimon are amazing. I just wish Rei, Hackmon, Hajime, Onmon, Yujin and Offmon were here to see it."

Haru, Astora and the Appmon smiled at the comment, the boys also wishing their friends were with them on this adventure, before the Apptuber added with a smile. "Yeah, but Davis and the others are pretty cool!"

"Yeah. Plus Veemon and the other Digimon are awesome!" Dokamon added with his own cheer, bringing his fist up with his statement, the enthusiasm of the action Appmon causing the others to smile in reply, agreeing with him and Astora about their new friends.

"Hey guys!" A familiar voice then called from behind, grabbing the Appli Drivers and Appmon's attention.

Turning, Haru and the others looked on, seeing Davis, Kari and their partners walking towards them, the brunette wrapping her arms around her boyfriend's right arm as they approached their friends.

"Hey!" Eri called happily as she and her friends turned to the pair, where the pink haired idol added with a sly smirk. "Continuing your date from the Light Capital?"

Davis blushed in reply, namely to the teasing smile upon the Appli Driver's face, before he set his free hand behind the back of his head and chuckled lightly, while Kari smirked in reply, showing a growing confidence in their relationship as she said. "Yep, sorry if we've interrupted yours."

Eri and Astora blinked in confusion, before realization hit them as they looked down, seeing their hands still together since they left the palace, causing both to blush brightly as quickly let go, trying not to look at one another as their friends did their best not to giggle in response.

Smiling, Davis then looked at Haru and said with a serious tone. "Actually, we were just coming by to check on you guys. With everything that's been happening, we haven't had a chance to see how you guys are doing, especially since what you told us about your world. This is all a completely different experience."

"Likewise, other than Tagiru, I think you guys are the only ones in our group who haven't spent any long periods of time in a Digital World." Veemon added, knowing that most in their group had spent more than a day in one Digital World or another.

The Appli Drivers all smiled at Davis and Veemon's concern, with Haru realizing that during their adventure they would at least return home at night after all was said and done, instead of being stuck in a world unlike their own.

Likewise, while their enemies were organized under Leviathan, the Appli Drivers never faced something like the Dark Tribe before.

"We're alright." Haru replied sincerely, the green haired Appli Driver adding with a smile. "It's different, but you guys have been a big help for us."

Eri, Astora and the Appmon all agreed with Haru, his kindness causing Davis, Kari, Veemon and Gatomon to smile in reply as the Digidestined of Miracles then said. "That's good to hear, and hey, if you guys ever need to talk, though, I'm all ears. I still remember my first time in our Digital World and what that was like for me."

"You mean when you got scared by the Numemon?" Kari asked with a sly smirk, this causing Davis to blush as he replied pointed out. "Hey, I had no idea what they were at the time, and I wasn't expecting them to be hiding in a vending machine!"

Kari, Veemon and Gatomon laughed lightly at Davis' reply, while the Appli Drivers and Appmon were slightly confused by what the four were talking about, particularly Eri, Astora and the Appmon as they wondered what exactly a Numemon was.

The group then watched as Kari then kissed Davis' cheek and said with a smile. "And then you risked your life for me and saved me from Monochromon's rampage."

Smiling back at Kari, Davis then said with an honest tone. "And I'd do it again if I had to."

Haru, Astora and the Appmon looked away from the mushy scene, while Eri beamed at the sight, like watching a scene from a romantic movie as Veemon and Gatomon smiled at their partners, the V-marked Digimon wrapping an arm around the feline Digimon's waist and pulled her closer, where Gatomon rested her head on his shoulder

"Hey guys!" Another familiar voice then called, grabbing the attention of Davis and the others.

Turning over, the group found Tai and the others approaching them, accompanied with TyphoonShogunmon and AquaTactimon, along with a pair of Digimon which resembled the SenjuRanamon, only these Digimon appeared taller and older than the sprite, ninja Digimon.

Curious to the Digimon, their appearance and any knowledge upon them, Haru looked at his D-Bracer, finding they were known as AquaNinjumon, an Ultimate Level Digimon, who mastered the art of ninjutsu.

Meanwhile, hopping alongside the group were another pair of Digimon, resembling large frogs with their heads shaped like a bowl and filled with water.

The D-Bracers informed the group that these were Champion Level Digimon called SacredKappamon, who shared an affinity to water as the other members of the Water Tribe.

Approaching Tai and the others, Davis asked with a curious tone. "Hey, how was the tour?"

"Pretty good." Mikey said in reply, before adding as he looked around. "The walls go down to the ocean floor, along with the gates. If and when the Dark Tribe attack, they'll have to either fly over or attack the walls to get in, which gives us an advantage in defence."

"Unless they have placed spies in here, just like they had with ShadowDevimon." Shoutmon added with a growl, still remembering the demon Digimon and all the havoc he caused posing as ArchBishopmon.

"We heard of the incident and already checked with those within the city." AquaTactimon said, the ninjutsu Digimon then informing. "We have been highly cautious of our Tribe, and we have found no spies amongst our citizens."

"Plus, it is not SkullBarbatosmon's style, he will let us know when he decides to come for us." TyphoonShogunmon added, having fought against the Water Tribe's foe long enough to know SkullBarbatosmon and his mindset.

Then, as if on cue, the sounds of bells and alarms went off, letting the group know that the city was under attack, where close by, a large surge of water rushed out from the water ways, revealing a large group of two types of draconic Digimon that moved into the air.

The first resembled the ShogunDracomon of the Fire Tribe, only with their armour and scales blue, with fins at the end of their tails, while the second type was a more serpentine type of dragon, with fin-like wings and a tail as it let out a fierce roar.

"HydroDracomon and Kirinmon, both Mega Level Digimon." Sora said as she read off the information displayed upon her D-Bracer, where TyphoonShogunmon then said with a serious tone. "If the great defenders have awoken, then the threat is dire, hurry!"

Quickly following the warrior Digimon through the capital, AquaTactimon and the heroes rushed to the upper part of the wall, watching as the HydroDracomon and Kirinmon rushed towards a massive dark cloud heading towards the city.

But upon closer examination, the heroes and heroines realized it was not a cloud, but a massive swarm of BlackGargoylemon, DarkThrallmon and Umbramon, alongside a few SkullDracomon and BloodDracomon, who let out fierce roars as they charged at the aquatic defenders.

Seeing the attackers approaching, as well as the AquaKotemon preparing to open fire with an onslaught of arrows, Davis looked at TyphoonShogunmon as he said to Tsunamimon's right hand. "We promised to help protect the city if it came under attack, and we keep our word."

Looking at the others and nodding, the group were covered in pillars of light, surprising the Water Tribe warriors as the heroes and heroines emerged as Digimon and Appmon before them.

"Samudramon!"

"MagnaVeedramon!"

"Lightbearer Ophanimon!"

"SacredPhoenixmon!"

"LordShoutmon!"

"ShaolinArresterdramon!"

"AncientMervamon!"

"Sagemon!"

"ShogunOujamon!"

"BardMusimon!"

The seven Digimon and three Appmon, along with the Digi-armoured forms of Marcus and Yoshi, then turned to the attacking Digimon, with MagnaVeedramon, Lightbearer Ophanimon, SacredPhoenixmon and Sagemon taking to the skies to aid in the aerial battle.

And as chaos began to break out through the Water Tribe's domain, the other humans, Digimon and Appmon also acted.

Hearing the alarms, Takuya and Zoe, who were on the other side of the city and along the walls, looked around, trying to find where the enemy was coming from, before a splashing sound caught their attention, the sudden eruption of water causing the duo to turn and look in shock to see that sa being had jumped out of the water and landed on the wall's ledge.

Looking upon the Digimon, the two Legendary Warriors saw that it was a horrid creature that had a humanoid shape, but had the features of a deep sea fish, with razor sharp claws and sharp fangs as it let out a shriek, ready to strike at the pair.

"Full Spirit Wave!" The familiar voice of MysticSakuyamon declared as a series of fox spirits slammed into the creature and sent it over the edge of the wall, causing it to break into Data particles, protecting Takuya and Zoe.

Seeing the mystic Digimon, accompanied by MedievalGallantmon, Jeri, Novicmon and MasterAquamon, Takuya and Zoe knew their fight had begun.

However, before anyone could talk, or the Warriors of Flame and of Wind could harness their great power, the sounds of further shrieking caught the group's attention, causing them to look over the wall and see more of the creatures trying to crawl up the side, the sight causing Zoe to question with shock. "What the hell are they?!"

"Trenchmon, Champion Level Digimon." Jeri informed as she looked at her D-Bracer and read off the information, where MasterAquamon added. "These are some of the horrors DarkPosidemon has created in past battles to fight us."

"Looks like the others are fighting on the other side of the city." MedievalGallantmon then informed as he and the others looked to see explosions in the sky on the other side of the capital, causing Takuya to nod and say. "Then we better hold things down here."

Focusing their energies, Takuya and Zoe were then consumed in pillars of light, the pair ready to join their friends in defending the Water Tribe.

"CrimsonAldamon!"

"GaleSilphymon!"

Staring briefly in awe at Takuya and Zoe's transfromations, MasterAquamon then watched as CrimsonAldamon, GaleSilphymon and MysticSakuyamon moved down the wall, where the Trenchmon clinging to the wall let out shrieks as they prepared to lunge at the group.

"Crimson Force!"

"Hurricane Spiral!"

"Full Spirit Wave!"

Acting together, the trio unleashed their attacks, striking at the Trenchmon, which sent the wicked creatures crashing back into the waters below, with many breaking apart into Data particles in the process.

But having some survivors, and with reinforcements, many Trenchmon emerged from the waters and continued to attack.

"Rage of Wyvern!" MedievalGallantmon declared as he sent an energy blast from the end of his halberd down at the Trenchmon, while Jeri moved her hands around, the brunette concentrating her mind and showing off her new powers as six rings of fire then appeared around her.

Her flames summoned, Jeri then cast forth the inferno, unleashing a series of fireballs, each shaped like a lion's head upon the Dark Digimon, which knocked those struck by her might back down, the sight leaving MasterAquamon and the Water Tribe Digimon in awe at seeing a human preform Digi-magic.

Before anyone could remark on Jeri's abilities, the brunette and the Digimon on the wall felt the ground beneath them shake, not from an earthquake, but from something trying to punch their way through.

"Where is that coming from?!" MedievalGallantmon yelled in concern as the wall continued to shake violently.

Scanning the area, MedievalGallantmon, Jeri and the others found bubbles coming from beneath the waters outside of the city, the group realizing that their enemy was under the water and striking against the wall.

Beneath the waves, DarkPosidemon stood upon a large coral rock as the Trenchmon and other Dark Digimon swam around him, eager to breach the wall and lay siege to the city as a large Digimon, resembling a massive crab, which used a decaying shipwreck as its shell, continued to pound furiously at the wall.

"Dark Trident!" DarkPosidemon then declared as he drew his trident at the wall, where the weapon began to glow with a dark aura, before firing a blast of dark energy at the wall, causing it to break apart and for the crab Digimon to cry out in joy as it began to move forth into the city, along with the Trenchmon and other Dark Digimon,the sight of the Water Tribe's defences now down causing the Dark General to smirk.

"Now all we need is for that blowhard to do his job, and all will be as the Dark Lady desires." DarkPosidemon said to himself as he and more of his servants began to swim into the opening, ready to bring terror and despair to the Water Tribe and the heroes.

"Ballistic Barrage!"

Unleashing their attacks together, the heroes and heroines struck down scores of BlackGargoylemon, DarkThrallmon and Umbramon, while destroying a few of the SkullDracomon and BloodDracomon, much to the enjoyment of the HydroDracomon and Kirinmon, who were glad to have the heroes and heroines fighting at their side.

However, as the smoke cleared, the heroes and heroines got a clear view of the dark storm approaching the city, with the fleet of broken ships beneath it, where their eyes focused on the largest of the ships.

Upon the deck, the group saw familiar Dark Digimon amongst the troops, which featured DarkWolfmon and ShadowKnightmon.

But looking amongst the Dark Digimon, there were many that heroes and heroines had never seen before.

The first resembled skeletons clad in pirate outfits, the undead beings shouting and bellowing at the heroes, drawing swords and pistols.

Cautious, the group read the information upon their D-Bracers, discovering that the undead Digimon were known as SkullWretchmon, Champion level Digimon, and most likely the reanimated remains of SkullBarbatosmon's crew.

The second, meanwhile, had the same body structure as the ShadowKnightmon, only their armour seemed as though it was made of a hard coral-like material.

Dark purple tendrils made up their arms and legs, forming a humanoid figure, the wicked Digimon glared at the heroes with menacing red eyes, the information revealing them to be AbyssalKnightmon, and that they too were also Ultimate level Digimon.

Finally, the group saw a figure move across the deck and look up at them with a skeletal smile, one the heroes and heroines realized must be SkullBarbatosmon himself, where the undead pirate Digimon let out a wicked laugh.

"So you are the wretches who have been giving the Dark Lady so much trouble?" SkullBarbatosmon asked as he looked at the group with a continued arrogant smile, eyeing one in particular, before addressing them as a whole as he offered. "Look, my fight is with the Water Tribe, so why don't you just sit back and let me have what's due, or I'll bury you all at sea."

"Sorry, but we're not letting you have your way!" MagnaVeedramon yelled in retaliation as he extended his energy blades, his words causing SkullBarbatosmon to smirk in reply.

"I was hoping you'd say that. Dreaded Hook Slasher!" The undead pirate Digimon bellowed back, dark energy flowing around his right arm and taking the form of a pirate's hook, which he then threw toward MagnaVeedramon.

Caught off guard by the attack, MagnaVeedramon cried in great pain as the hook sunk into the holy knight Digimon's right shoulder.

And thrown off guard by the attack, MagnaVeedramon was then pulled toward SkullBarbatosmon, who prepared to eliminate the Digimon of Miracles.

"MagnaVeedramon!" Lightbearer Ophanimon screamed in concern, watching as her beloved went flying down towards their enemy.

"Cruel Blade!" SkullBarbatosmon bellowed as he drew his sword, allowing his dark energies to pool through his sword and set the stage as to strike down the holy knight Digimon down.

"Magna Saber!" MagnaVeedramon announced.

Finally recovering and refocusing himself, MagnaVeedramon used his blades in order to block SkullBarbatosmon's blow, the impact of their blades sending an intense shockwave throughout the area, causing the Dark Digimon on the deck to shield their eyes, where their Master and the knight Digimon pushed one another back as the other heroes and heroines landed on the deck around their friend, all ready and united to fight the Dark Digimon and SkullBarbatosmon with everything they had.

Though annoyed to have intruders upon his ship, but remaining focused on eliminating his foes, SkullBarbatosmon fought with continued dread and malice.

"Dreading Soul!" He declared, summoning the darkness which pooled through his decaying body and transforming it into the shape of a giant projection of himself, one which acted to the pirate Digimon's rage and shot itself down and upon the heroes and heroines.

"Magna Shield!"

"Firewall!"

Working together, MagnaVeedramon and Marcus created a barrier of light and fire, the combination of energies managed to repel SkullBarbatosmon's attack as it collided with their barrier.

But feeling the dark energy push against them, MagnaVeedramon and Marcus groaned to the darkness forcing its way through their power.

With MagnaVeedramon and Marcus forcing themselves to keep their friends protected, this allowed the remaining faction of the Dark Digimon to move in for the kill.

"Cross Slicer!"

"Striking Light!"

"Blazing Spear Strike!"

"Thorn Saber!"

"Victory Slasher!"

"Mythic Strike!"

"Skydive Force!"

"Sage Cutter!"

"Savage Slash!"

"Rhythmic Stream!"

Working together and watching their friend's backs, the heroes and heroines combined their might and cut through the forces of the Dark Digimon.

With the Dark Digimon divided, MagnaVeedramon and Marcus were able to focus all their attention on SkullBarbatosmon, who laughed wickedly as he dispelled his darkness and rushed in, his sword drawn and ready to kill.

"Magna Saber!"

"Blazing Blade!"

"Cruel Blade!" SkullBarbatosmon bellowed as he crashed his blade clashed against MagnaVeedramon and Marcus's attacks, the undead pirate Digimon smirking at their resilience.

"It's a shame you're standing against me. You'd make fine additions to my crew." SkullBarbatosmon commented as he pushed the pair back, the distance allowing the undead Digimon to then add with a smirk. "I don't care about the Dark Lady or her plans, I just want my vengeance, what happens after that doesn't matter."

"Yes, it does!" MagnaVeedramon said back as he told the undead pirate Digimon. "Do you really think she will just let you go after this? Once your usefulness is done, she's just going to get rid of you anyways!"

"Like I said, I don't care what she thinks she can do, nothing is going to get in my way!" SkullBarbatosmon bellowed in reply as he looked to see the capital's wall close by, the undead Digimon drawing his sword up as he declared wickedly. "Disaster Bombardment!"

His blade crackling with dark red energy, SkullBarbatosmon slammed the weapon into the deck, sending the energy coursing through the ship and causing many to feel off-balanced from the strike.

Meanwhile, at the head of the ship, and opened allowed three cannons to emerge, where the energy from SkullBarbatosmon's attack filled the barrels, the sight of which caused TyphoonShogunmon and AquaTactimon to order an evacuation from the wall, with the aquatic Digimon all jumping into the water, just as the cannons fired, unleashing a powerful blast of dark energy that slammed into the wall, causing it to explode and crumble to bits.

When the dust cleared, the heroes and heroines looked to see a massive gap now within the wall, one that the rest of SkullBarbatosmon's fleet was heading towards, causing the undead pirate Digimon to laugh wickedly.

"You thought you could get rid of me? You thought you could end my life?! Your arrogance is now your undoing, oh mighty Water Tribe, and now, you will all burn!" SkullBarbatosmon declared with an insane dark laugh as his crew came up from the decks below, surrounding the heroes and heroines.

Prepared to deal with the Dark Digimon and stop the invasion, the heroes and heroines were unaware that DarkPosidemon's forces had already infiltrated the city.

With the undead Digimon and his army furthering their advances against the Water Tribe's capital, at the bottom of SkullBarbatosmon's ship, the Lichmon and his coven of Necromon were performing a ritual similar to the one used during Lycanmon's invasion of the Fire Tribe's capital, the scroll before them glowing with a dark hue.

Prepared to unleash another of the Ancient Horrors, the Lichmon and Necromon were to bring a force they believed would bring about the end of the Water Tribe.
