Chapter 16
Leah tried to spend time with her friends at the bar. They tried filling her in on what has been going on since she had been busy with work and in their terms her new boyfriend. She kept reminding him that he wasn't new. "Ok so tell me which one of us is going to be taken by a guy next?" One of the girls asked.
They started giggling at that and Leah just shook her head at them. With not a lot going on at the moment made things slow besides patrolling at night for vampires.
"So tell me is your man mysterious?" One of them asked.
"Not really, more of the romantic type I guess," Leah shrugged.
"What about that other guy? You know taller brown hair."
"Angel? He's my boss and he's single." Leah couldn't believe she told him he was single.
"Can you hook me up with him?" She asked him.
"He's kind of picky when it comes to women. You know he wants the smart ones. I mean not saying your not smart." Leah couldn't believe what she was almost getting herself into.
Some men approached their table having the girls go dance with them leaving Leah at the table. She drank the last of her drink setting it on the table. "Spike isn't here yet?" Derek came up behind her.
"Not yet," Leah looked up at him.
A few minutes later both Spike and Angel came walked towards their direction. Derek looked back as they walked towards them.
"They bail on you again?" Angel asked Leah.
"Kinda still in there find a guy at a club thing." Leah looked at him.
Spike noticed the way she was dressed with her hair pulled to the sides with the rest of it down. Her outfit was some nice black leather pants and a nice sexy lingerie club top. "If I would have known you were going to go out like that I wouldn't have let you out of the house," Spike leaned in kissing her.
Leah stood up from her chair and Spike's arms wrapped around her waist as they faced each other. "Maybe I snuck out too fast."
"You don't know what you do to me pet." The only thing Spike could think about was having his way with her. Her scent was driving him crazy as he held her. She was the first woman he had been with that all he could think of was sex with her. Spike was still learning but being in love made him want to do things he never had done with anyone.
"I can't help your hot," she kissed on him a little.
He smiled at that as he kissed her cheek. "Well he is cute," Leah's friend noticed her holding onto Spike.
"Cute as in a puppy dog?" he asked her friend.
"He has the whole British accent thing going on. Who doesn't want a guy with an accent." Leah shook her head at her friend for that.
Leah looked into the crowd seeing a mix of people and a few vampires. Spike looked over at Leah as she was scanning the crowd. "What is it sweetheart?" Spike looked at her concerned.
She had a feeling someone was going to be a victim of a vampire. He noticed one of them kissing a girl then starting for her neck. She raced towards the vampire and he looked up at her ready to attack if needed. Leah had no choice than to shove the girl out of the way pulling out a pocket knife stabbing the vampire seeing him turn to dust. The girl saw what happened relieved she didn't get bitten.
Then another couple of vampires went towards her. Spike went over to help out but noticed something different about them. Leah punched one of them and he went after her attacking her. She did the best to block them but they seemed stronger. One of them threw her across a few feet causing her to knock a table down.
"Leah," Spike rushed towards her helping her up. Angel saw they needed help jumping in to fight. Luckily they were strong enough to fight them. Angel got a hold of one while Spike tossed her a stake, she went to stake him in the heart and he didn't die.
He hit her across the face and she hit him back fighting him. Spike and Angel took care of fighting the other one while people stayed out of the way watching. There was a loud whistle causing everyone to stop. They looked over and Drake appeared. "Let him go," Drake looked at Leah.
She shoved him away keeping an eye on Drake. Spike watched him carefully along with Angel. "You know your guys are real assholes," Leah folded her arms.
Drake slowly approached her looking into her eyes. He said something in his language she couldn't understand then the sound of police sirens were being heard. Drake and the two guys disappeared in front of them leaving everyone confused on how they did it.
"Come on," Spike led her out with him and Angel.
"You tossed me the stake and couldn't kill them. There has to be another way," Leah said walking with them.
"Looks like ole stake is useless," Spike said taking her hand as they walked together.
"That's something we will need to figure out," Angel suggested.
Leah winced a little in pain. She noticed her arm was bleeding. "Guess I'm bleeding."
"Let's get you home," Spike lead her to their place.
"I'll be behind you I'm going to go look for your brother." Angel went back to look for him while Spike lead Lead to the apartment. He opened the foot letting them in shutting the door behind them. He put Leah's stuff on the table searching for the bandages. She dabbed the scratch with a towel.
Spike came back with a bandage helping her put it on. "At least it was a scratch," Leah spoke.
"As long as yer alright is what's important." He finished up putting the last piece of tape on.
Spike leaned in kissing her.. The feeling of being loved was something that had always been missing until now. Leah had been the one to take that feeling away. "I want to be with you forever. When you it's your time I want to be with you."
"You're immortal." Leah reminded him.
"There are ways around it. Your the last woman I intend to be with," Spike admitted.
"I can't have you do that, you have to live," Leah said unsure of the idea.
"I've been around almost two hundred years, life isn't bloody worth living if I don't have you in it."
They walked to their bedroom shutting the door behind them. "Then make me a full vampire," Leah insisted.
"I'm not going to put you through that also there is a bloody chance you could lose your soul." Being who she was made her unsure of when she would age or her life span.
"I need to figure out my life span."
"That would be a good thing to know my love," Spike sat down next to her on their bed.
"I still think your nuts, I'd want you to live your life." He put his hands in hers sighing at that.
"You're a little dodgy aren't you?"
"Spike, I'm serious."
"So am I pet, You're the only woman who has given me the time of day and for that you're worth it." Spike's tone was serious but Leah still didn't get the whole dying with the loved one thing.
"I think Angel would miss you," Leah reminded him of Angel.
"Yes I can see him throwing a party than missing me." Leah playfully hit his arm flipping on the TV. There was some Sci-fi show that was on as she sat up on the bed leaning against the headboard. Spike moved scooting close to her. Leah wasn't even paying much attention to the television looking at her phone. Spike's attention was on her wanting nothing more than wanting to hold her in his arms and somehow lead it into sex.
"Derek is texting me, he's on his way back with Angel," Leah looked at Spike.
"All is well then," Spike snuggled up to Leah kissing on her.
"Stop." Leah giggled. He was so affectionate and loving towards her. Spike still felt he was making up from the times he couldn't prove that he was a good guy before he changed.
Derek barged in their room with Angel behind him. He handed Leah a book that he had on Drake. "I guess Derek filled you in with more detail?" Leah looked at Angel.
"Yeah, he's a different type of vampire than what we are." Angel replied.
Derek read over the book to Spike informing him what he told Angel. Leah did some work on her laptop responding to emails or researching vampires. Angel was impressed on how smart and knowledgeable they both were about things. Spike already knew Leah was very intelligent and book smart.
Just having a woman that was smart was something that Spike appreciated. Buffy was the only other woman who had more brains and Dru was smart in her own way. In his eyes Leah topped them all. "Let's think logically here old stake in the heart not likely," Leah said thinking.
"Garlic, sunlight, crosses," Derek named.
Angel couldn't help but snicker. "I'm not so sure about garlic."
Just an old story from the movies," Spike chimed in.
"Come on new generation type modern killing guys. Wait I know how about setting them on fire just get some oil spill it on them," Leah guessed.
"Chop them in half first then burn them," Angel suggested.
"Well we can try it not a bad idea. It was one thing we talked about and didn't do. Leah chuckled at Spike a little.
"Well I bet stakes are almost obsolete. Now it's axes and fire, it takes a little more to kill. These guys are stronger and can easily take down a slayer. If I didn't help make you guys stronger it would be the same for you." Leah seemed not surprised.
"With you being half slayer and vampire explains why your stronger." Angel said starting to figure things out.
"Times are changing," Leah said looking over her keyboard.
"We need to drop Drake before he can get a chance to build an army," Angel insisted.
Leah skimmed through information to find info on Drake. "Derek you have a book on medieval times don't you?"
"I'll get it," he left the room.
"Drake is from that time period, this talks about all the bad guys back then," Leah explained.
"It says he sacrificed himself by making a deal with the devil after losing the woman he loved. She rejected him leaving him heart broken which caused him to turn and kill into what most believed to be a vampire or demon," Derek read.
"Any info on the woman?" Angel asked him.
"No, still looking."
"What is up with women being involved? Sounds like a soap opera to me," Leah yawned.
There was a knock at the door. "Food," Derek got up and went to answer it.
"Food? Really?" Leah got off the bed walking to the front.
"Don't worry I'm feeding you too since you're too busy to eat," Derek set the boxes of pizza on the counter.
Leah ate a couple of pieces while Derek was doing some more research. Angel was looking through the book and Spike was sitting next to Leah at the counter. Spike noticed Leah starting to get tired.
"You look tired," Spike noticed her yawning a lot.
"Just a little."
Leah went to bed and Spike stayed up talking to the guys. "I was hoping my sister would find someone like you. Some guys she has dared when have stood a chance. They could protect her and I was worried that in some way she could somehow end up hurting them," Derek looked at Spike.
"Most slayers need a man like us,"Spike replied.
"What slayers are left," Angel reminded him.
"So when is the wedding?" Derek wondered.
"We haven't really discussed much, soon I hope." Spike hoped that it would happen soon. He knew they had been busy with work.
After a while, he went into their room removing his clothes getting into bed with his lover. Leah was sound to sleep as he placed a soft kiss on her cheek. He watched her sleep thankful for every moment he had with her.
