Digimon Adventure: Destiny's Heroes

A group of Digital Heroes have been pulled to a world unlike any they've seen before, one being overrun and oppressed by a powerful evil. Seeking to find what brought them there, the heroes unite to learn why they were summoned and stop the Dark Forces in their tracks, while dealing with new, developing feelings amongst them. 25. Chapter 25

As their ships passed through the broken wall, the Dark Tribe Digimon leapt from their transports and engaged the AquaKotemon, AquaSamuraimon, SenjuRanamon, AquaBushidomon, AquaNinjumon and SamuMakomon in combat.

Though the numbers and power of the Dark Tribe was overwhelming, TyphoonShogunmon and AquaTactimon stood strong as they led the warriors into battle.

With the invasion of the Dark Tribe Digimon, the ShaolinAquamon, SageAquamon and SacredKappamon acted to protect their homes and allies.

Moving their arms and staves in fluid motions as to channel their energies with the waters around them, the flow of energy caused the waters around them to shoot upward and seemingly spring alive come alive, which bombarded the forces of the Dark Tribe, sending the tide of battle into chaos as many of the malicious Digimon were left encased in spheres of water or were knocked back by great and powerful aquatic streams.

And staying strong, back in the skies, the HydroDracomon and Kirinmon continued to battle the flying forces of the Dark Tribe.

Beneath the waters, meanwhile, MasterAquamon lead a portion of the Water Tribe warriors to counter DarkPosidemon's invaders, leaving MedievalGallantmon, MysticSakuyamon, Jeri, Novicmon, CrimsonAldamon and GaleSilphymon on the surface and allowing the heroes and heroines to focus all their power upon their enemies without panic.

Meanwhile and aboard SkullBarbatosmon's ship, MagnaVeedramon and those by his aid stood back-to-back, circled by the dark captain and his crew of Dark Digimon.

Overlooking his foes, namely MagnaVeedramon, the undead pirate Digimon showed off a growing sinister grin.

"There is nowhere for you to run, and nowhere for you pests to hide." SkullBarbatosmon said with a smirk, before adding with a vicious glee. "Now pay the price for standing in my way, Dreaded Hook Slasher!"

Instantly, an array of dark energy hooks appeared around SkullBarbatosmon, which the undead pirate Digimon then cast down upon the heroes and heroines.

His dark hooks drawn, SkullBarbatosmon readied himself as to grab MagnaVeedramon and the others, to drag them back and eliminate the pestering heroes and heroines in one fell sweep.

SkullBarbatosmon didn't care if he took down the Dark Lady's chosen, none would stand in the way of his vengeance.

"Tsunami Strike!" A familiar voice suddenly erupted with might as a wave of blue energy shot down from the sky, cutting through the dark energy of the undead pirate Digimon's hooks, causing the darkness to disperse and to even cut through part of the deck and causing a few of the dark members of Skullbarbortismon's crew.

Surprised by the attack themselves and looking up, MagnaVeedramon and the others watched as Tsunamimon landed on the deck in front of them, the proud warrior Digimon keeping his blade drawn and directed toward SkullBarbatosmon.

Seeing Tsunamimon, this filled a growing dread within the Dark Digimon and to even back up in fear.

Though their power was great, the pirate Digimon knew that the leader of the Water Tribe was one of the most powerful Digimon they would ever face.

And if they weren't careful, one attack from Tsunamimon could end them.

SkullBarbatosmon, however, smiled even further, now having the main source of his hatred and rage before him.

"Are you alright, heroes?" Tsunamimon asked as he looked over his shoulder, focusing his attention upon his allies.

"We're alright, but we need to stop those ships." MagnaVeedramon replied as he gestured toward the gap in the wall, which allowed further servants of the Dark Lady to invade.

"They are not the only concern." The Water Tribe's leader pointed back as he then informed the group. "DarkPosidemon and his forces broke through the lower part of the wall, our forces are holding them back, but your allies cannot assist them."

"That's because none of us can go underwater!" ShogunOujamon snapped, frustrated that due to the environmental conditions, they couldn't aid the Water Tribe to their fullest.

"You can." Tsunamimon then said, his reply confusing the heroes and heroines.

"From what I've been told, you are able to reach into the power of the Primordials. Concentrate, and summon the power of Oceanamon, the Primordial of Water, to aid you." Tsunamimon added, expressing his growing faith and trust within the potential heroes and heroines of Witchelny.

Understanding what Tsunamimon meant, the heroes and heroines closed their eyes and focused their minds, finding that their connection with the elements allowed their D-Bracers to connect with the ancient power within the Water Tribe's palace.

As MagnaVeedramon and those stuck on SkullBarbotismon's ship felt the flow of energy slowly entering their bodies,back upon the land, Jeri also felt a similar energy, only it was flowing around her.

Understanding that her friends were harnessing the ancient power of the Water Tribe, the brunette looked toward MedievalGallantmon, MysticSakuyamon, CrimsonAldamon and GaleSilphymon.

"Everyone, close your eyes and concentrate." She declared, puzzling the heroes and heroines in her vicinity.

Turning toward Jeri and expressing their confusion, MysticSakuyamon and CrimsonAldamon were about to berate the brunette, especially since they were placed in such a dire position.

However, noticing Jeri's expression, the faith she held in her friends, and in herself, and also taking notice of her D-Bracer glowing with a powerful blue light, MedievalGallantmon, MysticSakuyamon, CrimsonAldamon and GaleSilphymon placed their trust within Jeri and closed their eyes.

Guided by Jeri's words and the ancient magic of the Water Tribe, the Water Tribe Digimon, the Dark Tribe Digimon and Novicmon all watched with amazement as the heroes and heroines were consumed in pillars of blue light.

As the heroines and heroines found their power increasing, back within the palace, those guarding the Sacred Water saw the large pool begin to shine with a bright and mysterious light.

Within their minds' eyes, the group saw a massive ocean before them, where floating above was a Digimon covered in blue robes, her hands together in a praying stance, while a large tail was seen coming out of the bottom of her outfit, along with four massive fins that acted as wings.

Her face was covered by a hood, showing only a pair of blue eyes as the being, Oceanamon, who said in a calm and passive voice. "Your cause is just and noble, take my power and protect my children from the darkness spreading through Witchelny."

When the lights faded, those around the heroes and heroines saw the massive change in all of them, with most having their armours now a light blue, while their capes or wings now resembled flowing water, showing they had achieved a new power better known as their Aqua Modes.

In awe to see his friends change forms, thanks to the primordial fragment of the Water Tribe, Novicmon turned his head and was turned further as he took in Jeri and her new appearance.

While Jeri remained in a similar physical state, the brunette's hair was now flowing down her back, her eyes were now glowing with a shining blue hue, but taking in Jeri's body, Novicmon those around her saw changes within the brunette's clothing.

Now clad in a set of loose fitting blue robes, which flowed down her body and held the imagery of falling waters, the sight and changes of Jeri's appearance furthered Novicmon's amazement.

Showing that there was far more to her changes than a new hair style and new clothing, Jeri held her hand out and focused her power.

Through her graceful motors, a small portal opened beside Jeri, a rift that she then reached within and pulled the sword BlazeShogunmon had presented to the group.

Although ready to fight, to attack as necessary, worries overtook MedievalGallantmon.

"Um... Jeri, you know how to use that, right?" He asked with a sweatdrop, one the brunette shared as she replied with a nervous chuckle. "Sort of..."

"Just keep it pointed at the enemy and slash when you see the chance." CrimsonAldamon then said in order to break the tension and to allow the flow of battle to continue.

Following the four Digimon, Jeri then encased herself in a bubble of energy and was sent into the waters in order to confront DarkPosidemon and his forces.

Back aboard SkullBarbatosmon's ship, the Dark Tribe Digimon looked in shock to see the heroes and heroines change into their Aqua Modes, already expecting the heroes and heroines to put up a tougher fight now.

As for SkullBarbatosmon, however, the undead pirate Digimon didn't care, only his vengeance mattered to him.

"Don't just stand there, you filthy wretches! Take them down! But leave Tsunamimon to me!" SkullBarbatosmon bellowed, before yelling in pure rage. "Dreading Soul!"

The dark aura gathering around him, SkullBarbatosmon unleashed the energy toward the leader of the Water Tribe, hoping to take him out for good.

"Typhoon Surge!" Tsunamimon called in reply as a blue aura surrounded him, before shooting out like a tidal wave and crashing into SkullBarbatosmon's attack, the impact of the twin elements nearly breaking the ship in half in the process.

But the moment the attacks faded, however, the heroes and heroines on the boat felt a power from below the decks, one they remembered from their battle at the Fire Tribe's capital.

"They're trying to free another Horror!" AncientMervamon yelled in concern, which was shared amongst the heroes and heroines present as they could see through the cracks further down the deck of the ship the ritual that was happening beneath their feet.

"We have to stop them before this battle gets any worse!" Sagemon then said, expressing his own concerns, which was shared and agreed by the other heroes.

Also in agreement, Tsunamimon looked toward the heroes and heroine as he said. "Go, I will handle SkullBarbatosmon!"

"You handle me?! I'll show you how insignificant you are, Cruel Blade!" The undead pirate Digimon yelled in fury as his blade was covered in its dark aura once again, before he charged at Tsunamimon in another attempt to strike his nemesis down.

"Magna Saber!"

"Cross Slicer!"

Moving in front of Tsunamimon, MagnaVeedramon and Samudramon blocked SkullBarbatosmon's attack, their blades covered in liquid as they pushed the Dark Digimon aside, where the holy knight Digimon turned to his friends, calling with valiantly in his voice. "We'll handle things here, get down there and stop the ritual!"

Nodding in reply, Sagemon, ShogunOujamon, BardMusimon, LordShoutmon, AncientMervamon and ShaolinArresterdramon leapt into an opening to the deck below, leaving Lightbearer Ophanimon, SacredPhoenixmon, Marcus and Yoshi to aid MagnaVeedramon, Samudramon and Tsunamimon against SkullBarbatosmon and his forces.

"Divine Calling!"

"Sacred Flame!"

"Corona Dash!"

"Thorn Saber!"

Working together, the two Digimon and the two Digi-armoured humans continued to engage the Dark Tribe forces around them, leaving Samudramon, MagnaVeedramon and Tsunamimon to face SkullBarbatosmon.

"One way or another, I will have my vengeance!" SkullBarbatosmon then bellowed as he felt the ritual coming closer to its end, knowing that an Ancient Horror would be unleashed upon his foes, and the next part of his plan could continue, a plan that would allow him to crush anyone who stood in his way, even the Dark Lady.

"Shadow Flood!" DarkPosidemon called out as the water around him turned black and shot at several of the Water Tribe Digimon, crushing them or piercing them, causing them to cry out as their bodies broke apart into Data particles.

"Dark Abyss!" The Dark General then announced, continuing to show his great and fearsome power as several dark portals opened up around him, sending out octopus-like tentacles which wrapped themselves around several Digimon within the vicinity, crushing them all instantly.

Taking a moment to look around, DarkPosidemon smirked wickedly as he saw the carnage his aquatic servants were causing, before looking up toward the palace, knowing that the Sacred Water was inside, along with his ascension over his fellow Dark Generals in the eyes of their Mistress.

But before he could claim his victory, the Dark General wanted to make his foes suffer first, where he looked to see MasterAquamon battling several AbyssalKnightmon, leaving the Dark Digimon to smirk wickedly.

"Dark Trident!" He bellowed as his trident was consumed in dark energy, before he launched himself upwards, rushing through the water towards the Water Tribe's chief mystic, ready to cut him down in the process.

"Noble Strike!" MedievalGallantmon suddenly yelled as the knight Digimon appeared before DarkPosidemon and blocked the Dark General's strike with his halberd.

With the arrival of MedievalGallantmon, MasterAquamon and DarkPosidemon shared the same shock in their emotion, to see the knight Digimon had intervened within their battle and to see his aquatic enhancements would allow him to show his true potential as a hero.

"Full Spirit Wave!"

"Blazing Sabers!"

"Wind Blades!"

Moving together, CrimsonAldamon and GaleSilphymon cut through the Trenchmon and AbyssalKnightmon, thinning their numbers, while MysticSakuyamon's fox spirits rushed at the giant crab Digimon, causing it to shriek in pain as it broke apart and dissolved into a great cluster of Data particles.

Meanwhile, Jeri floated in the water as the Trenchmon rushed at her, where the brunette moved the sword in her hand in a fluid motion, before swinging it around, sending out shockwaves of energy that cut through the Dark Digimon as they tried to attack her.

"Move aside, little hero, and I promise to make your end quick and painless!" DarkPosidemon said vengefully as he smashed his trident against MedievalGallantmon's halberd, the action only causing MedievalGallantmon to push back against the Dark Digimon.

"We'll never surrender to you or your Dark Lady!" The knight Digimon snapped back as he managed to push DarkPosidemon aside, before the duo began trading blows with their weaponry, dodging and parrying one another's attacks in a fearsome battle.

"Dark Trident!"

"Noble Strike!"

Clashing against one another once again, the pair sent out a shockwave of energy, knocking the Digimon from both the Dark Tribe and Water Tribe back, while the other heroes saw their friend battling DarkPosidemon.

Moving her hands around once again, Jeri sent out a rushing surge of water, one that pushed against MedievalGallantmon and gave him further strength as he pushed DarkPosidemon and himself upwards towards the surface.

Looking around and seeing that most of the underwater dark Digimon were either retreating or defeated, Jeri, MysticSakuyamon, CrimsonAldamon and GaleSilphymon looked to MasterAquamon, who nodded his head, letting them know that he and his warriors could handle things from here while they helped their friend, before the four rushed upwards after MedievalGallantmon and DarkPosidemon, ready to help him continue their battle.

Reaching the surface, MedievalGallantmon and DarkPosidemon bursted out of the water, landing on solid ground a few feet from one another, where the rest of the group with the knight Digimon landed behind him as the Dark General turned to face them.

Looking around, however, MedievalGallantmon and his group saw that the city was under attack on the surface as well, seeing the Dark Tribe Digimon battling the Water Tribe warriors in the city's streets as the dark ships sailed through the waterways.

"Vile Downpour!" DarkPosidemon suddenly bellowed out as he aimed his trident towards the sky, the action causing black clouds to form above, before a torrent of dark water began raining down.

"Spirit Ring!" MysticSakuyamon called in reply as she slammed her spear into the ground and cast a protective energy barrier to surround her and her allies.

Although protected by the barrier, MysticSakuyamon groaned as she felt the dark water crash against her spell, knowing that this power would have caused them serious trouble had she not acted.

When the attack died down, MysticSakuyamon dropped her barrier, where she and her group were about to attack the Dark General, before a familiar voice caught their attention.

"Hey guys!" Lightbearer Ophanimon called, causing the group to turn and see SkullBarbatosmon's ship sailing past them, where they saw the water-infused angel Digimon flying above as SacredPhoenixmon punched a SkullDracomon, while on the deck, the group could see the others fighting.

"You guys alright?!" CrimsonAldamon asked in concern, wanting to go help his friends fight.

"We're handling it here, but you need to help the others in the lower deck, they're trying to summon another Horror!" Lightbearer Ophanimon replied with worry, causing MedievalGallantmon and those with him to widen their eyes in concern, not wanting to have to deal with another powerful Digimon like Anansimon again.

"Dreading Soul!" The voice of SkullBarbatosmon cried with a continued malice as an explosion occurred on the deck, causing Lightbearer Ophanimon to turn as MagnaVeedramon, Samudramon, Marcus and Yoshi were sent flying off the deck, landing on their feet a few meters from MedievalGallantmon's group, where Tsunamimon landed next to them, before SkullBarbatosmon jumped from the smoke and landed on the ground before the heroes and Lightbearer Ophanimon and SacredPhoenixmon flew down towards their allies.

"Disaster Bombardment!" The undead pirate Digimon then yelled as he slammed his sword into the ground, sending energy to his ship's side cannons, which all pointed towards the heroes as they opened fire.

"Magna Shield!"

"Dynas Protection!"

"Firewall!"

"Spirit Ring!"

The four Digimon, along with a barrier created by Jeri, blocked the powerful attack as the dark energy bounced off their combined abilities, while DarkPosidemon dodged the blasts himself, landing next to SkullBarbatosmon as he looked at his ally with a glare.

"Idiot, you almost hit me!" DarkPosidemon yelled at SkullBarbatosmon, who laughed wickedly in response.

"Too bad." The undead pirate Digimon said back, showing the lack of care toward his allies, before adding as he looked at the assembled heroes and heroines. "Besides, I believe the real fun is about to start."

"Sonic Strings!"

Working together, the three Digimon and three Appmon pushed through the Dark Digimon barring their path, trying to reach the ritual as they felt the energies building up, letting them know that their foes were almost done.

"We need to hurry!" BardMusimon called with a growing concern as the group finally came across a massive dark energy barrier, barring them from the room just ahead of them.

Within the barrier, the small group of heroes saw a small gathering of Necromon, with a Lichmon leading them, the dark Digimon not caring about the heroes' presence as they continued the ritual, where the group saw the scroll before them glowing in a dark light.

"We need to stop this. Give it all you've got!" LordShoutmon yelled as he looked at the barrier and added his own power, declaring with might. "Omni Force!"

"Inferno Spiral!"

"Passion Shot!"

"Gaia Link!"

"Golden Arrow!"

"Rhythmic Stream!"

Launching their attacks alongside LordShoutmon, the group tried to push through the barrier and strike the dark mystic Digimon before it was too late.

However, just before their attacks could strike the barrier, much to the heroes and heroines' horror, the scroll exploded in a burst of energy, consuming the Dark Digimon and canceling their attacks out, sending the six flying not only backwards, but out of the ship, landing near their shocked allies as SkullBarbatosmon's ship exploded into pieces, which did not seem to concern the undead pirate Digimon in the slightest.

Meanwhile, the energy unleashed from the scroll shot downwards, striking the ocean floor and causing a large, dark portal to open as something let out a fierce roar.

As the skies above darkened, the heroes and heroines looked around, helping their friends to their feet as Tsunamimon looked to see his people that were underwater rush to the surface, quickly looking for shelter, while the dark Digimon all looked around in concern.

It was then, from under that water, that a series of large, dark coloured tentacles emerged from the sea, slowly wrapping themselves around buildings, while both SkullBarbatosmon and DarkPosidemon laughed wickedly.

"Ok, what the heck is this?!" BardMusimon questioned as he looked around, remembering seeing these tentacles from the vision Helios showed him and his allies, but still had no idea what they were dealing with.

Looking around himself, Tsunamimon kept his blade ready, knowing what was coming, and that they would have to give it their all to save his Tribe from annihilation.

"This is one of the Ancient Horrors, the Horror of the Depths." The leader of the Water Tribe stated as he looked at the heroes, getting their attention as they saw the seriousness in his eyes, where Tsunamimon then informed with dread. "This is Krakenmon..."
