Digimon Adventure: Destiny's Heroes

A group of Digital Heroes have been pulled to a world unlike any they've seen before, one being overrun and oppressed by a powerful evil. Seeking to find what brought them there, the heroes unite to learn why they were summoned and stop the Dark Forces in their tracks, while dealing with new, developing feelings amongst them. 26. Chapter 26

As the black tentacles began constricting around the buildings and crushing through them, the entire surface of the Water Tribe's capital began to shake, the sudden tremors causing even the Dark Tribe Digimon to panic, especially when a massive arm with a clawed hand emerged from the water and came crashing down on the ground, followed by another as a great force of destruction pulled itself out of the sea.

Looking upward, the water-infused heroes and heroines took in what was apparently Krakenmon's main body, which resembled a humanoid crustation-like hybrid, divided between the body of a human and four massive crab-like legs, the sight astonishing and shocking those who took in its fearsome appearance.

Arisen, the massive beast looked down at the heroes, setting its sights on its perceived enemies and let out a high-pitched roar.

With its dreaded roar, MagnaVeedramon and the others shielded themselves from the screeching and the destructive prowess the creature expressed, and seeing the energies of Oceanamon flowing through them, all knew that Krakenmon was ready to continue its relentless fury from long ago.

Looking at one another, their trust toward their friends expressed, MagnaVeedramon and MedievalGallantmon nodded to each other, before the holy knight Digimon looked to the rest of his friends and Tsunamimon as he took the lead. "You guys handle that thing. We'll deal with SkullBarbatosmon and DarkPosidemon!"

"Be careful!" Samudramon said in reply with his own concern, before the dragon warrior Digimon moved ahead to engage Krakenmon, alongside his allies, which left MagnaVeedramon and MedievalGallantmon to handle the two Dark Generals.

"You'll wish they stayed so you could all die together, Dreaded Hook Slasher!" SkullBarbatosmon declared as his dark energy hooks shot out towards the duo.

"Dark Trident!" DarkPosidemon then called, adding his own power as he aimed his trident at MagnaVeedramon and MedievalGallantmon and cast forth a great blast of dark energy upon his enemies.

Though the darkness coming at MagnaVeemon and MedievalGallantmon combined, turning to a force they could not escape from, the Digimon knights stood strong and braced themselves.

"Holy Strike!"

"Rage of the Wyvern!"

The two attacks collided with the attacks of the Dark Generals', the impact of light and darkness causing a massive explosion to erupt between the forces.

However, unfazed by the blast, the two groups then shot through the blast and smoke, rushing at one another to continue their fight at close range.

"Cruel Blade!"

"Dark Trident!"

"Magna Saber!"

"Noble Strike!"

Setting his focus upon the undead captain, MagnaVeedramon clashed his blades with SkullBarbatosmon's sword, while MedievalGallantmon parried his halberd with DarkPosidemon's trident, the two heroes and two Dark Digimon locked in stalemates as their power clashed together.

Trying to outdo one another, there was much on the line for both sides, and much more to fight for, with one side trying to take their enemy down and help their friends, while the other two fought for their own dark and twisted purposes.

'It's almost time...' SkullBarbatosmon thought with a dark glee as he kept his free hand in his pocket, clenching an item inside, one that would not only let him crush the Water Tribe, but would also take down the Dark Lady and her servants in his eyes.

Working together, with Jeri further displaying her power and unleashing powerful streams of water upon the Horror to aid her friends, the heroes and heroines tried striking at Krakenmon, who fought back, the gargantuan sized beast using his arms and tentacles to block each attack, while trying to swat at those who flew or moved too close around him.

Soaring around Krakenmon and trying to find a weak point in his exoskeleton, it was then SacredPhoenixmon noticed the dark energy forming in Krakenmon's mouth, where he looked ready to fire.

"Phoenix Knuckle!" She announced as she slammed her water infused fist into Krakenmon's lower jaw, the attack disorienting Krakenmon a little, while the impacting force of SacredPhoenixmon's power threw the Dark Digimon's head upward and caused his attack to fire his off into the sky, showing that had he fired in the direction he wanted, Krakenmon could have caused a lot of damage.

"Don't let him fire at the city!" LordShoutmon called out with great seriousness and concern, his words and the emotion the fused Digimon King expressed received understanding nods from the others as they continued to move about and dodge Krakenmon's attacks, trying to find a weak point they could exploit to defeat this giant beast.

Looking around and examining the crustation carefully, it was then that Sagemon noticed that Krakenmon's body wasn't fully on the surface, and was using his tentacles to keep him from sinking, this causing the fusion of Haru and Gatchmon to call toward the others. "Go for the tentacles, he'll lose balance!"

Realizing that Sagemon was right, the other heroes and heroines sprang into action, rushing towards Krakenmon's tentacles and moving to cut them to pieces.

"Cross Slicer!"

"Striking Light!"

"Blazing Spear Strike!"

"Spiritual Spear Strike!"

"Blazing Sabers!"

"Wind Blades!"

"Blazing Blade!"

"Thorn Saber!"

"Victory Slasher!"

"Mythic Strike!"

"Skydive Force!"

"Sage Cutter!"

"Savage Slash!"

"Sonic Strings!"

Working together, with Jeri sending energy into her sword and empowering it, the heroes and heroines cut through Krakenmon's tentacles, the appendages bursting into Data particles, this caused the Horror to cry out in great pain.

With the loss of its limbs, the crustaton-like abomination lost its grip and began to fall back into the waters.

But even with its injuries, Krakenmon sunk his claws into the ground, trying to recover and to and stay above the sea.

Upon seeing Krakenmon trying to return itself to the fight, Tsunamimon acted, the Water Tribe's leader charging boldly toward the gigantic beast.

"Tsunami Strike!" He announced with might as he rushed at Krakenmon's head and cut his blade along the Dark Digimon's right eye, the action furthering Krakenmon's pain and causing the aquatic Horror to then instinctively cover its damaged eye with its claw to cover his wound.

Seeing Krakenmon's state, that the gigantic crustacean was now only using one claw to keep himself above the water, the group of heroes and heroines smirked, a sense of pride overtaking the group as they believed they had the advantage against the Horror, that they were one attack from sending it back into the waters.

But their pride faded and was taken over by shock when a dark mist seeped out from Krakenmon's wounded tentacles and extended out, before reforming and regenerating.

"Impossible!" CrimsonAldamon called, the Warrior of Flame expressing the disbelief and continued awe his teammates now held.

The dark energies repairing its body, Krakenmon threw its new tentacles outward and latched onto several more buildings, allowing Krakenmon to pull its gigantic form from out of the waters, his crab legs landing on the ground with a tremor, before the Horror gave another fierce roar, one that could shatter glass.

Emerged from the waters and now up against the heroes and heroines around it, Tsunamimon and his allies knew their battle had just begun.

During the clash against Krakenmon, MagnaVeedramon and MedievalGallantmon continued to give all they could in their battle SkullBarbatosmon and DarkPosidemon.

As MagnaVeedramon and MedievalGallantmon tried to hold a united front, aiding each other and keeping an eye on their teammate, the two Dark Digimon continued to show a more relentlessness in their style of fighting as they tried to bring the pair of heroes down.

"Dark Abyss!" DarkPosidemon declared as he drew his trident at MagnaVeedramon, his call causing several portals to open around him, before a mass of tentacles emerged and tried to grab and crush the holy knight Digimon.

"Magna Saber!" MagnaVeedramon called in reply.

Using his energy blades, MagnaVeedramon cut through the tentacles before they could grab him, but found he had to remain on a constant state of alert, especially as SkullBarbatosmon came at him with his Cruel Blade.

"Shadow Flood!" DarkPosidemon then announced as he focused his attention and his dark power toward MedievalGallantmon.

Sending a surge of dark water to rush towards the knight Digimon, MedievalGallantmon reacted, showing his great defense as he bellowed with might. "Dynas Protection!"

The red aura surrounding him, MedievalGallantmon found the dark waters clash against his barricade, repelled by his power.

Dispelling his barrier and looking to MagnaVeedramon, who landed beside his friend, SkullBarbatosmon moved next to DarkPosidemon, the two groups glaring at one another as they prepared to continue in their conflict.

Before the battle could advance further, the sound of Krakenmon's roar caught the attention of the two heroes and two Dark Generals, the four all turning to see the rest of MagnaVeedramon and MedievalGallantmon's friends fighting the Horror, the sight shocking MagnaVeedramon and MedievalGallantmon, though it left DarkPosidemon to laugh wickedly.

"It seems your allies are too weak without your help, and now the Water Tribe shall fall for your weakness!" DarkPosidemon declared.

His trident drawn and aimed to the sky, ready to call forth his most powerful attack once again, DarkPosidemon started to declare. "Vile Downp...!"

"Cruel Blade!" SkullBarbatosmon suddenly cut in with a swift strike, only DarkPosidemon was the one to feel the pain.

Looking at the sight before them, MagnaVeedramon and MedievalGallantmon looked on with shock to see that the undead captain had betrayed his ally and stabbed DarkPosidemon in the back quite literally, his blade piercing through DarkPosidemon's chest.

Turning his head, DarkPosidemon growled through his pain as he saw the smirk on SkullBarbatosmon's face.

"Fool...! I knew you would betray us... but how is killing me now supposed to help you...?!" He questioned, expressing more anger than shock at the betrayal.

"It helps because of this." SkullBarbatosmon replied as he took an item from out of his trenchcoat, revealing a large, black gem encased in a dark metal container shaped like a bat, an item that confused MagnaVeedramon and MedievalGallantmon, but caused DarkPosidemon to look between the item and Krakenmon with panic.

"No... no...! You fool! Don't...!" DarkPosidemon started to yell, but his words were cut off by SkullBarbatosmon insane laughter.

"I will have my revenge! On the Water Tribe, on the Dark Lady, on all of Witchelny!" The undead pirate Digimon declared as he crushed the gem in his hand, his actions causing a dark energy to quickly encase not only him, but DarkPosidemon as well.

Watching the scene in shock, horror and confusion, MagnaVeedramon and MedievalGallantmon then watched as the energy then shot toward Krakenmon, causing the Horror to cry out in pain as his entire body was consumed within a dark aura.

Still uncertain as to what SkullBarbatosmon had done, but quickly joining their friends, MagnaVeedramon, MedievalGallantmon and the other heroes and heroines watched as Krakenmon seemed to change.

Where its shell took on a darker shade, a bone-like exoskeleton quickly covered his shell, while a pair of bone tusks spread out from its lower jaw, giving Krakenmon a darker feel.

At the next moment, Krakenmon then threw his head back and let out an insane laugh, one that echoed the insanity of SkullBarbatosmon, which caused LordShoutmon to question in shock. "Did he just force-fuse himself and DarkPosidemon with Krakenmon?!"

"His information is reading as SkullKrakenmon now!" Sagemon called with further concern, where the new form of Krakenmon looked down at them with a dark malice.

"Yes! With this power, I will destroy anyone who stands in my way! Even the Dark Lady!" SkullKrakenmon bellowed with glee, adding as he looked down at the heroes. "Once I crush you, I will destroy this worthless tribe, then crush the Dark Lady for leashing me and... and..."

As the personality of SkullBarbatosmon expressed itself through the crustacean Digimon, however, another, more powerful presence was now trying to push back at him, the raw, destructive instinct of Krakenmon himself, ths causing SkullKrakenmon to grip its head and cry out in agony.

"No, no! Stop you dumb beast!" SkullKrakenmon cried out as his tentacles and body began to thrash around uncontrollably, causing the heroes, heroines and Water Tribe Digimon around to quickly move, so that they would not be crushed in the process.

"Idiot!" Charonmon yelled from the Dark Citadel's throne room as he and the Dark Lady's inner circle watched the battle, the dark mystic Digimon then questioning in rage. "Did he really think he could control a Horror like that?!"

"We always said he was a fool and he's lived up to our expectations now." Wraithmon said with a glare.

Breaking his attention away from SkullKrakenmon's struggle, Wraithmon noticed that Sciophobimon was nowhere to be found.

Assuming the mad jester was collecting part of the Dark Lady's prize for them, Wraithmon decided as to not place too much thought into Sciophobimon and to focus back on the events occurring within the Water Capital.

Watching SkullKrakenmon continue to thrash, the heroes and heroines then saw the mad beast look at them with rage, where hundreds of dark energy hooks emerged from his back and shot down towards the group and the Water Tribe Warriors, who braced themselves for the attack.

However, much to their surprise and relief, a barrage of fireballs and beams of light struck at the hooks, destroying them in the process, while raining down on SkullKrakenmon's being, the counterattack causing the fused Horror to shriek in pain.

Looking upward, the heroes and heroines were surprised and relieved to see a small army of HolyGriffomon swooping down, each carrying warrior Digimon from the Light Tribe and Fire Tribe, which were being led by BlazeShogunmon.

The sight however puzzled the Water Tribe, to see former enemies now coming to their aid.

"It seems times really are changing." MasterAquamon commented as he moved next to Tsunamimon, the leader of the Water Tribe nodding his head as he looked at the heroes and heroines, seeing that their words and efforts had truly paid off.

Moving downward, the Light and Fire Warrior Digimon leaped off the HolyGriffomon and joined the Water Tribe Digimon in fighting off the Dark Tribe's forces, while BlazeShogunmon leaped off his mount and landed before the heroes and heroines, where he looked them up and down for a moment, taking in their Aqua Modes and commenting in a neutral tone. "I liked it better the other way."

"I'm sure you do." MagnaVeedramon replied with a light laugh, before BlazeShogunmon looked at Jeri, surprised to see a human wielding Digi-magic.

But his questions aside, BlazeShogunmon focused on the blade he had given the heroes and heroines now in Jeri's hand.

"I hope that blade has been put to good use." Infernomon's right hand then said as he looked at the blade, the comment causing Jeri to chuckle nervously.

"Well, actually..." ShaolinArresterdramon was about to say but came to a sudden stop when he felt a killer intent sent his way, to see SacredPhoenixmon looking down at him with flames in her eyes as she told him. "Don't... say... anything!"

BlazeShogunmon was confused by the interaction, as well as seeing Samudramon twitch slightly at the Digimon of Love and her tempered side, before focusing on the leader of the Water Tribe as he and his inner circle, along with Novicmon, came forward.

Showing his respect, and that they were indeed no longer enemies, the Fire Tribe Digimon bowed before Tsunamimon and the other Water Tribe inhabitants, which caught the four Water Digimon by surprise, before they too returned the bow themselves.

"We will help remove the rest of the Dark Tribe's forces from the city, you take care of that abomination." BlazeShogunmon then said to the heroes and heroines, his words causing the heroic force to nod in reply and to then refocus their attention on the dark force of SkullKrakenmon.

Letting out another rage filled cry, the mind of SkullBarbatosmon now lost in Krakenmon's fury, SkullKrakenmon let out another series of dark energy hook, sending straight for the heroes and heroines.

"Cross Slicer!"

"Final Crest!"

"Magna Saber!"

"Striking Light!"

"Blazing Spear Strike!"

"Spiritual Spear Strike!"

"Blazing Sabers!"

"Wind Blades!"

"Blazing Blade!"

"Thorn Saber!"

"Victory Slasher!"

"Mythic Strike!"

"Skydive Force!"

"Sage Cutter!"

"Savage Slash!"

"Ballistic Barrage!"

Working together, along with Jeri using her magic imbued blade, the heroes and heroines cut through not only the dark energy hooks, but also SkullKrakemon's tentacles, the onslaught of attacks causing the fused Horror to shriek in pain.

"Let's end this already! We made a promise to Tsunamimon to protect his tribe, and I'm so not backing down! Hyped Spirit!" BardMusimon declared as he strummed on his guitar, sending out musical waves that invigorated his allies, while disorienting the remaining Dark Tribe Digimon, this of course leaving the dark forces wide open for the united tribal Digimon's assault.

"Courageous Charge up!" LordShoutmon then announced with his own might as he raised his blade and sent out a great wave of energy, one that energized his allies further.

Their power returned and heightened, the heroes and heroines looked at SkullKrakenmon, who glared back at them with pure rage.

"I will have my Revenge!" The deranged Digimon hollered insanely as dark energy formed in its maw, showing it was gathering for one final attack.

"No, this ends now!" MagnaVeedramon called in refusal as his body began to glow with a blue light, where he then announced with might. "Full Force Strike!"

"Inferno Wing!"

"Spiritual Spear Strike!"

"Inferno Strike!"

"Corona Dash!"

"Star Shine Dive!"

"Heartbreaker Force!"

Working together, MagnaVeedramon, SacredPhoenixmon, MysticSakuyamon, CrimsonAldamon, Marcus, ShaolinArresterdramon and ShogunOujamon were all covered in their water-infused magic as they shot at SkullKrakenmon, ready to end the beast once and for all.

In retaliation, SkullKrakenmon unleashed his attack, colliding with the energy around the heroes as they tried to push against it and strike the Horror down.

"Rinkageki!"

"Rage of Wyvern!"

"Holy Judgement!"

"Arcane Twister!"

"Violet Blast!"

"Omni Force!"

"Passion Shot!"

"Gaia Link!"

"Rhythmic Stream!"

The nine attacks were joined by Jeri's own magical abilities, as she sent from hundreds of water streams as the attacks combined with MagnaVeedramon, SacredPhoenixmon, MysticSakuyamon, CimsonAldamon, Marcus, ShaolinArresterdramon and ShogunOujamon's combined efforts, turning into a massive water dragon, similar to a Kirinmon, which broke through SkullKrakenmon's beam attack and slammed into his chest.

With a scream of agony, the fused Horror looked down as the water dragon had burst through his chest and out his back, the wound now inflicted upon him causing the dark abomination to cry out, pain, agony and disbelief expressed as its body began to break apart into Data particles.

"This was supposed to be my vengeance... My vengeance...!" SkullKrakenmon screamed in rage and defiance as his body fully broke apart and dissolved, the sight of his defeat causing the remaining Dark Tribe Digimon to turn and run, the remaining ships from their fleet turning and heading back to sea as the HydroDracomon and Kirinmon sank a few trying to escape.

With SkullKrakenmon defeated and the Dark Tribe's retreat, the Water, Fire and Light Tribe Digimon cheered at their victory and to the heroes and heroines who fought for them, with group returning to their normal forms as they landed back on the ground, where Novicmon ran to check on his friends, while Tsunamimon, MasterAquamon, AquaTactimon, TyphoonShogunmon and BlazeShogunmon approached their allies.

"Thank you, heroes, you have saved my Tribe and my City, for that, I am in your debt." Tsunamimon said to the heroes and heroines, his tone of absolute respect, which continued to express as he looked at BlazeShogunmon and his forces, telling the Fire Tribe Digimon. "It would seem that this alliance is not doomed to fail after all, and as the heroes have kept their word, so to shall I, the Water Tribe will fight alongside the Fire and Light against our common foe!"

Tsunamimon's words caused all in the area to cheer, while Davis and the others let out sighs of relief, both from exhaustion and at being pleased that they had not only saved the city, but added new allies in the fight against the Dark Tribe.

The next day, after a night of celebration after honouring their fallen allies, the heroes and heroines stood once again on a pair of boats the Water Tribe had provided for them, the same SenjuRanamon ready to take them back to the mainland of Witchelny as Tsunamimon, MasterAquamon, AquaTactimon, TyphoonShogunmon and BlazeShogunmon stood before them.

"As a token of our thanks, we present this to you." MasterAquamon said as he handed Novicmon a container of gold shaped like a water droplet.

Residing within the container was a small fragment of the Sacred Water, the heroes and heroines feeling its energy within, before Novicmon put the item away.

"May it aid you in your journey ahead." The chief mystic of the Water Tribe then said, expressing his trust and kindness within the heroes and heroines.

"Once the city is rebuilt and fortified, I will send soldiers to join the alliance's forces, while I speak with Infernomon and Celestimon." Tsunamimon told the heroes and heroines, adding confidently. "We shall do what we must to push the Dark Tribe out of our lands and back to their corner of the world."

"Thank you, Tsunamimon." Astora said with a respectful bow, the others once again following his lead.

"I hope that the next time we meet, it is with the rest of the tribes as we take the fight to the Dark Tribe." The Apptuber continued to say, which earned a nod from Tsunamimon.

"Indeed." He said in reply, before adding with a confident tone. "Farewell, and good luck on your journey."

With happy smiles, the group of heroes and heroines waved their goodbyes to the Water Tribe Digimon and BlazeShogunmon once again as their escorts took them out of the city and began to take them back to the mainlands, each with a smile on their faces, believing that things would only get better from here on out.

Within the Dark Citadel, however, a growing resentment consumed those present, with Charonmon holding a frustrated look on his face, one shared by Wraithmon, while DeathTactimon just continued to rewatch the battle, continuing to take in the battle tactics of the heroes and heroines, as well as that of the Water Tribe and the combined forces of the Fire and Light Tribes, looking for any weaknesses he could exploit.

"Why the long faces?" A familiar voice then asked in an amused tone, the playful call causing the trio to turn and to see Sciophobimon appear in the room, holding a container similar to the one he used to capture portions of the Eternal Flame and Celestial Light, only this one contained the Sacred Water, with the jester-like Digimon having snuck in during the battle and gathering what he could.

"At least there is some good news!" Charomon called as he swiped the container from Sciophobimon's grasp, knowing that the Dark Lady's anger would be subdued by this token of victory.

"Meanwhile, our enemies are uniting and standing against us, they no longer fear us and it's the fault of those insects!" Wraithmon then declared in anger, despising the heroes and heroines, wishing for another crack at those that had defied the Dark Tribe for what they had done.

The sounds of footsteps, however, then caught the attention of those present, where they turned to see the Dark Lady herself approaching.

Looking over her servants, the leader of the Dark Tribe then said with a dark and cold indifference. "Then it is time to show them the true meaning of fear."

Charonmon, Wraithmon, DeathTactimon and Sciophobimon all grinned wickedly to what their Mistress had in mind, the four gaining a faint empathy for the heroes and heroines at the knowledge that their ends were now approaching.

Author's note: The Water Tribe arc is finished and the heroes and heroines have gained the Water Tribe's aid for the alliance, but what does the Dark Lady have in mind? What awaits the heroes in the days to come? Stay tuned to find out as the journey continues.
