Chapter 19

Sesshomaru decided to work from home today but that didn't mean his day was easy. Eleven hours of conference calls, and two virtual meetings with overseas clients, he had not realized he gone the entire day without eating. Trudging toward the refrigerator as he opened up another email on his phone, he frowned at the emptiness before him, his only options were a can of expired caviar, case of sparkling water and a bottle of wine. Should he get groceries delivered? Perhaps he should order out? He smirked remembering Kagome's words. ' In this planet, people do their own groceries'. He scoffed as he donned his black wool trench coat and made his way to the supermarket. Though there were several supermarkets in his neighborhood, he found himself going downtown to the one near Kagome's.

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

Kagome snapped out of it for the second time when she absentmindedly rolled the cart over someone's foot in the vegetable aisle. An array of thoughts pulling at her attention making what should have taken ten minutes at the supermarket become an hour and counting. She gazed down at the list of things and realized she only grabbed two things out of the twenty and decided to get her mind focused so she could get out of there.

"Watch where you're going!" a lady scolded as she snatched her kid out of the way when Kagome fell into another daze.

Get a grip, Kagome but she couldn't. She was too afflicted by her situation. Sleep never came to her last night as she caressed her stomach, subconsciously entertaining the idea of being a single mother to a half breed child. Or wondering what Sesshomaru's reaction would be if he found out. There was a fear that he would be repulsed and want nothing to do with her. He still hadn't called her or pick up the rest of his things at the apartment. A part of her knew that he wouldn't. Sesshomaru would just buy new furniture. She dawdled onto another aisle, tipping boxes of cereal into her cart from the shelf as she let out a deep sigh. She continued getting the items on her list and stopped in the aisle of air fresheners and scented candles. Maybe a little lavender patchouli would ease the stresses of her mind. She spritzed carelessly in the air and grimaced not liking the scent at all. She reached for the apple cinnamon and sprayed around her. That one wasn't too bad. She placed it into the cart and sprayed Hawaiian breeze followed by Peach blossom and had to stop when she started coughing. Her breath hitched as she continued to cough when she noticed Sesshomaru turn down her aisle. He had a basket in his hand and appeared stunned to see her. At first, his face became tight, looking over his shoulder as if he were debating whether to make a run for it but then forced a half grin and walked toward her. Still coughing, Kagome tugged the lapel of her jacket over her mouth and tried to clear her throat.

"Hi…" he said in a voice that made her want to collapse onto the floor and start crying. Damn hormones.

"Hey..." she uttered hoarsely, still clearing her throat. She did a mental recap on how she left the house today, wondering if she remembered to brush the knot out of her hair and if she washed her makeup from the night before. "How…are you?"

"Fine…" his nose twitched as he took a step back from the molecules of air freshener circling around them. "You?"

"I'm… good." She said and they became quiet for what seemed like twenty minutes. "So, you're shopping for your own groceries I see."

He nodded then casted a crooked grin. "Yes."

They were quiet again and she was trying to muster up another generic question when he surprised her with a question of his own.

"How do you like working for Youkai Entertainment?" he asked and when she looked confused, he smiled. "Lorena called me for a reference."

"Oh." Kagome swallowed her nerves and looked down at her cart. "Well, I got the job so thanks for the reference."

"Of course." He said and they became quiet again. Though she looked like she lost weight and was a little on the pale side, she couldn't have been more beautiful, he mused. Redness rimmed her gray eyes and her lips were calling to him. He blinked himself out of his thoughts and fidgeted his fingers over the basket handle. He focused his senses on her, trying to see if Inuyasha's suspicions were correct but he didn't get anything.

"Are you alright?" he asked, noticing her face become even paler and her lips were moving in a way that said she was going to be sick.

"Yeah, why?" she breathed deeply as she looked over his shoulder at the exit door.

"You just look a little...pale." he said and she snorted into a frown.

"Thanks. That's always great to hear." She said. Weeks after not seeing each other and he's going to comment on how pale she looks?

"I didn't mean-"

"I have to get going. Um…it was…good to see you." She said.

"Kag—" he stammered but she hurried down the aisle and abandoned her shopping cart as she nearly sprinted out of the supermarket.

Sesshomaru's nose twitched at the scents of vanilla and fruits. Why did he comment on her pallor? Idiot, he mentally scolded himself.

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

Kagome stopped at a clinic on her way back home. Ignoring the jelly like feeling in her legs, the clamminess of her palms, she strolled toward the receptionist with a hood over her face and sun glasses covering her face even though the sun was nearly setting into the horizon, inconspicuousness was not her forte.

"Hi there." She greeted the receptionist. "I have some questions regarding…"

"Yes, Ma'am?" the receptionist looked at her.

"Regarding…" Kagome licked her dry lips as she looked around the waiting room. Leaning in, she covered the side of her mouth. "Abortion."

The receptionist shot her a sympathetic glance. "Well, how old are you?"

"I'm…eighteen." Kagome answered. Oh no, was that a problem? Would she need to bring her mother? Panic rose in her chest.

"Okay, here are some pamphlets that will touch topics on everything you need to know. There is also a support hotline you can call; it is twenty-four hours. Once you're ready, you can make an appointment with us. The day of your appointment, refrain from eating or drinking for at least eight hours."

Kagome bade her thanks and set out back to her car. The smell of coffee filtered through the windows of her car and she decided to drop in and grab a decaf caramel macchiato. She was going to take a seat and work on her article but decided to leave in case someone she knew came in, and by someone, she meant Sesshomaru. When she got out of the coffee shop, she turned down the block toward her car when she heard an explosion. Pivoting on her heel, she staggered and fell onto someone's arm, her coffee cup crushed between both their chest spilling over her and, she looked up, Sesshomaru's chest.

"I'm…sorry." She said, but she couldn't hear her own voice. The explosion had rattled her ear drum causing an annoying ringing sensation.

"Are you alright?" Sesshomaru asked. She couldn't hear his voice but she could tell that was what he asked. His arms shielded over her as people ran up and down the street wondering what happened. Kagome caught sight of Kohaku running and laughing with his friends. The car across the street was in flames, a dark wave of smoke filled the street and they both started coughing. She felt him pull her away. Did she really just coincidentally bump into him twice in one day or was he following her? Oh god, if he was following her, did he see her at the clinic? His arms were still wrapped around her as he craned his neck over her to inspect the situation. How she missed being in his arms. Tears started to prickle and it wasn't from the smoke.

"I'm fine." She said, after he looked back down at her for a response. "What are you doing here?"

"I was about to get some coffee." He said, wiping coffee off his coat. He pulled out a napkin from his pocket and started wiping her hoody. He smiled, seeing her in her hoody and converse sneakers, it reminded him of high school. He was about to ask her if they could talk but she pulled away from him.

"Kag-"

"I have to go." She rushed toward her car, got in and drove off.

Tears poured down her cheeks as she tried to see the road through her blurry vision. A tingling sensation formed in the pit of her stomach making her whimper. She caressed her lower abdomen and choked into another sob.

Sesshomaru let out a frustrated sigh and walked the other way.

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

The next day, Miroku and Sango stopped at Kagome's apartment to pick her up and head to Koga's party. Miroku watched TV on the couch while Sango hung out with Kagome in her bedroom as she got dressed. Sango wore a pink bodycon dress and her belly looked like she was bloated from tacos instead of being four months pregnant. Kagome snuck glances at it and looked at her own though it was flat as a board in her lavender rib knit dress which complimented her curves.

"Did I ever tell you I'm jealous of your boobs?" Sango shifted onto her side on Kagome's bed.

"You've mentioned it a couple of times." Kagome grinned through the mirror as she put pink shimmer lip gloss on her lips. "but you have the butt."

"You have a butt too." Sango snorted.

"Not like yours."

"Hey, we can't have it all!"

Kagome giggled as she grabbed a pair of silver strap heels.

"I don't know, Kaggy, we're going to have to keep them away with bats, unless you want to meet someone tonight."

"No." Kagome shook her head. "I don't want to date anyone now, Sango. I have…a lot going on."

"Okay." Sango said, and she was surprised that she let it go. She expected her to argue that she shouldn't wait.

"By the way, I read your article in the Youkai Entertainment magazine. Mango? Way to keep the anonymity." Sango chuckled as she got up and joined her in front of the mirror. "Oh my god, we look like a couple of pastel barbies. I am so not used to seeing you like this. It's weird. I thought you would be going in ripped up jeans, sneakers and maybe a nice top."

Kagome laughed. "I'm becoming a big girl."

Thirty minutes later, they left in Miroku's car and Kagome was rummaging through her purse in the backseat when her eyes bulged at the colorful abortion pamphlets slipping out. The word abortion couldn't have been written in bigger bolder fonts. She tucked it away under her wallet and dumped her compact mirror, lip gloss, mascara on top of it so prying eyes wouldn't catch a glimpse. Kagome winced as she closed her purse and brushed her hand across her chest to rub it. A strange pain came and went but it left a bad feeling, like something bad was going to happen. It was probably all the anxiety of the thoughts she kept in, thoughts she kept from her friends, from Sesshomaru. She would eventually tell Sango but not yet.

When they got to Koga's, it was 8pm and he was already wasted.

"Since this morning, man!" he said holding a bottle of Jack Daniels, his eyes couldn't squint anymore, or they'd be closed. Ayame came over to greet them with a modest wave.

They passed him on the way in, not surprised that he was already drunk. Some things didn't change. There were already thirty people inside, mingling to the sound of trendy music that Koga never listened to, bottles of beer were tucked into a cooler on the coffee table surrounded by chips and dip.

"Fancy pad." Said Kagome.

"You likey?" Koga shrugged. "Sesshomaru came over and helped me with some stuff. He…ow-" he stopped when Ayame smacked him over the shoulder another time.

"So Sesshomaru was here before me?" she fumed and stormed away in her stilettos.

"Shit…Baby...wait!" he chuckled nervously and followed her in a panic.

Sango left Kagome's side toward the chips and dip, Miroku followed beside her holding her arm and scowling at the men ogling her. Kagome noticed Hiten and Koura by the window, periodically looking at her shamefully, as if they did something wrong. She recognized a lot of coworkers from Crescent Corp and she swallowed. Was Sesshomaru here? A few guys set a poker table down, on the other side people were playing pool. A group of construction guys sat in front of a flatscreen watching football with no sound. Feeling awkward where she stood, she decided to distract herself from her thoughts and be social. She wandered across the room toward Hiten and Koura and they straightened up with smiles.

"Kagome!" Hiten said. "You look amazing. We miss you."

"Yes!" Koura said. "You need to come back. He was so much nicer when you were there."

Kagome tried to smile but couldn't. "I'm working at Youkai Entertainment now."

"What?" Hiten exclaimed. "Working for the Laudable Lorena. Wow, how'd you land that job? I guess when you know the right people." He winked.

Koura nudged him and she cast a long expression. "I'm sure you heard about the bet, Kagome. We just want to say sorry. It was meant to be for fun."

"Hey guys, stop." Kagome forced a fake laugh. "I'm just...upset I couldn't put in on that bet."

Hiten and Koura laughed.

"Ugh, Kagome, ever so lax." Koura raised her empty glass.

Kagome waved off a cloud of smoke towards her way and coughed. She looked over at the construction guys smoking cigars and screaming at the TV. "I do miss you guys." she said honestly. Kagome noticed them staring at her oddly then shooting sideways glances at each other. "Anyway, I'm going to go say hi and mingle. It was good seeing you guys."

They both nodded and watched her walk around.

"You sensed it." Koura titled her head toward Hiten.

"Vaguely. I did but the smoke interrupted, and I lost the scent."

"I don't think Sesshomaru knows…" Koura sighed. "She's still feeling so much pain."

"She hides it so well." Hiten sipped his wine and winked at one of the girls from the corner of the room.

"Ugh.." Koura's face turned red as she stormed off.

"What?" Hiten blinked back obliviously. " Koura?"

Kagome felt nausea tickle her throat and made her way toward the bathroom when someone grabbed her arm. She whipped her head over her shoulder and peered into the familiar eyes of a man who worked in one of the cubicles at Crescent Corp.

"Zach." She greeted.

"Kagome, how are you?" he slurred. His green eyes were masked in a glossy gaze and she knew he was a few drinks in. "You are wearing that dress!"

"Oh stop."

"We miss you at the office."

"Yeah? Aw." She said, looking around the room. "Sorry but I have to go to the bathroom, I'll be right back." She walked away only to be stopped by another guy a few feet from the bathroom. Oh come on.

"Where you going so fast?" he smirked.

"The bathroom." She said, curtly.

"Sorry, I wasn't trying to be rude. You just…caught my attention."

"No." Kagome sighed. She didn't mean to come off as bitchy. The nausea settled and she adjusted the strap of her purse and forced a friendly smile. "I'm Kagome." She said and did a quick scan around the room. Zach didn't look happy that she ditched him to talk to another guy.

"Mike." He replied.

"so, how do you know Koga?" she asked.

"Is that the dude with the blue eyes and black ponytail?"

"Um, "Kagome chuckled. "Yes."

"Yeah, I don't." he shrugged. "I kind of crashed into him in the music store and he just said ' hey, party at my house'. I was bored and just decided, what the heck!"

Kagome shook her head. Typical Koga.

The vibe in the room changed and everyone's head turned toward the door. She followed their gaze and felt her heart take a quick dive into her stomach.

Sesshomaru entered through the front door in a black militant sweater with straps and buttons over the shoulder and across his elbows. He wore faded grey jeans over leather shoes and nearly every girl in the room was gawking at him. Koga jogged over to him, put his arm around him and leaned into his ear to say something as he led him to the kitchen.

"I am so drunk." Koga staggered over to the refrigerator. "Don't fire me, k?"

Sesshomaru stifled a grin as he discreetly examined the room and quickly saw Kagome close to the bathroom with a guy. He felt his teeth press together and looked at Koga when he tried handing him a beer.

"No, thanks."

"No, you gotta drink at my party. If you want to be all fancy, I gots me wine in the back." Koga taunted him with the beer bottle making Sesshomaru grab it. He took a sip and turned his head to look at Kagome again. The guy beside her was undressing her with his eyes. He could feel the biting jealousy eat at him as he tried to look composed but even as drunk as Koga was, he seemed to sense it.

"So, there are a lots of babes in this room, that one's mine." He pointed to Ayame. "and, oh look, Kagome."

Sesshomaru kept his feet planted to the ground, not making any effort to move. Koga looked dumbfoundedly at him.

"She's right there, dude. You know you want to talk to her."

Sesshomaru glanced back over at her and their eyes met but she quickly peeled them away to talk to the guy next to her.

Kagome tried to focus on the conversation she was having with Mike but she could feel Sesshomaru staring at her. The knots in her stomach caused another wave of nausea to hit when she told Mike she needed to use the bathroom.

"Sure thing, sweetie." he leaned into her ear and ran his index finger down her backside. She sensed a quick movement from her side and noticed Sesshomaru shooting straight toward her. Oh crap. She scurried down the hallway in her heels and he gained quickly behind her.

"Kagome," she heard him say as she entered the bathroom and tried to close the door on him but he thrusted his hand across the doorframe to stop her. "We need to talk!"

"Can it wait-I-" she took a step back when he pushed the door and grabbed her arm. He closed the door and she was wedged between it and him.

"Who is that guy?" he asked.

"You're joking, right?" Kagome snorted. "You followed me into the bathroom to ask me who he was?"

"Why did he have his hands over you?" he shouted and she jerked her head back in surprise. His eyes became red before her and she could see him constantly swallowing hard as if he was struggling to stay calm.

"I don't know what your deal is asking me who I'm with, but you need to get out of this bathroom right now!"

"No! We need to settle this."

"Settle what?"

"Us!

"What us?" she slammed her hands into his chest. "You said there was no us, remember! I'm just like my whore of a sister, right?"

"Kagome, please," he wrapped his fingers around her wrists and kept them against his chest. "I am so sorry for the things I've said…I was…angry and confused—"

"I don't want to hear it!" she cried. "It's been weeks since you left and you didn't want to talk then! Now you want to storm in here like some jealous boyfriend?"

While they were shouting back and forth, unbeknownst to them, the music stopped playing. Someone accidently pressed the power button and Koga tittered as he tried to get it back on quickly. Everyone could hear Sesshomaru pleading with Kagome to listen to him while she expressed her anger in obscenities. The music finally went back on.

"Whoo!" Koga howled trying to get everyone's attention from the bathroom door. A line started to form beside it and he ushered people away to use the bathroom somewhere else as he guarded the door like a bouncer. He knew those two needed to talk and he didn't want anyone interfering with a long overdue reconciliation.

"Bro, I gotta go!" complained one guy.

"Take a leak outside!" Koga spat, pointing his thumb out the door.

A girl had walked toward the bathroom and flicked her hair. "Is someone in there? I really need to use it." she said seductively.

"Sorry sweetheart, bathroom is occupado for a while." Koga glared lustfully at her and smirked. " Try my neighbors."

Meanwhile, back inside the bathroom…

"Sesshomaru, please don't do this. I can't keep doing this with you!" she ducked under his arms and slammed her purse onto the sink.

"Kagome…please." He turned to her, pulled her into him and buried his head into her neck.

Kagome struggled in his grasp as she tried to pull away but he held her firmly. "You can't cast me aside when you don't want me and then change your mind and expect me to come running back! You told me how you felt already, okay!"

"No." he shook his head. She could feel his arms shaking as he held her. "I didn't tell you. I've never told you."

Kagome scrunched her forehead as she gazed down at his head, his hands moving up from her waist onto her arms. They were so warm.

"Kagome…" he lifted his head to look at her. His breaths were unsteady, and his lips trembled as he fought to say the right words. "I am in love with you. I have…been in love with you for a long time."

Their eyes locked together in a deep stare and he swallowed as he prepared to continue.

"Long time? How long?" she whispered.

"Since high school." He said and her eyes went round.

"But…how? We never said anything to each other and—"

He took a sharp breath in and bit his lip. That was it, no more holding back the truth from her.

"I know, but there was one moment you and I had…which initiated those feelings for you. It was the day Inuyasha brought you home, you were curiously perusing throughout the manor and came into my father's study. I was in there assembling a model airplane and you came over to me to see what I was doing. You were so impressed by the little details of the plane and kept asking so many questions," he stopped to chuckle under his breath. "At first you were annoying me but…you were so genuinely interested. Anyway, I made a terrible joke and you laughed in a way that enchanted me and…you didn't notice it but I had almost kissed you. Inuyasha showed up and I left right away but I overheard him make a comment about how socially inept I was and you…defended me, said you thought I was…nice." he stopped. "It was transient and unmemorable to you but to me, it left a mark. I tried so hard not to like you which is why I stayed away from you and I lied to myself for so long, I didn't see it. But…Kikyo saw it."

Kagome felt her chest cave in as his unexpected half a decade confession blindsided her. He straightened his posture and the tension lifted from his face, as if he were relieved to finally get that off his chest. His hands roamed up her arms and wrapped around the back of her neck.

"You asked me why I was not affected by Kikyo's tryst and the reason for that was because I never had any feelings for her but you, Kagome, I delayed expressing my feelings to you because I thought perhaps you'd go back to Inuyasha and I just couldn't handle it if that happened. The night you came home smelling like him, I just…lost it. I was…hurt and angry and tried to upset you with Shurran and ended up pushing you away which was far from my intention."

Kagome lowered her head, tears gliding down her cheek onto his wrists.

"I want us together, Kagome. It feels right." His thumb caressed the side of her chin. "Pl-" he paused, his gaze dropping to her stomach before bouncing back to meet her eyes. His hands fell back down to her waist and he shook his head with disbelief. "You are…with child."

Whether it was from Sesshomaru's realization or the overwhelming influx of emotion encasing the tiny bathroom, Kagome let out a dry heave as a punctuation to his statement, her own body wasn't going to let her deny it. Kneeling over the toilet, she jerked forward and threw up. Her face became hot from embarrassment as she looked to the side to see pure shock in his face as his hands hovered over his chest, stunned, forcing him to take a step back. The edge of the bathtub hit his calves and he almost lost his balance and gripped the towel rack to steady himself. She turned to heave again and he snapped out of it as he reached down to hold her hair back. She shrugged his hands off of her as she propped herself back up against her elbows searching around for napkins or toilet paper but typical Koga didn't have any back up nearby. She staggered over to the sink to rinse her mouth and snuck a look at him through the mirror.

"Were you even going to tell me?" his voice broke, trying not to let the sting of rejection from being pushed away deter him from trying to resolve this. He felt even more betrayed than the time with Kikyo and Inuyasha. He panted in anger as he glared into the mirror at her when she didn't respond. "Were you!"

"I…" she wiped her lips with her forearm, not wanting to risk using the towel with fifty people in Koga's apartment not knowing who did what with it. Her hips brushed against the strap of her purse and it toppled over the edge of the sink. She snatched it by the strap but it flipped open and spilled its content onto the floor. Sesshomaru zeroed in right away on the booklet, the bold black letters saying Abortion, compelling the oxygen to burst out of his lungs before he could take another breath. Covering her mouth, Kagome squeezed her eyes shut and wept uncontrollably as he knelt to pick up the pamphlet with quivering hands.

"I can explain..." she choked.

Sesshomaru turned away from her as he struggled to compose his erratic breaths but instead swung his arm and punched right through the wall. Kagome flinched and the bathroom door swung open. Koga poke his head inside.

"Everything alright-dude, my wall!"

Sesshomaru turned to face him with crimson eyes, breathing heavily like a bull ready to charge.

"It's cool. Nothing a little spackling can't take care of." Koga backed up and closed the door. He noticed a guy talking to Ayame and decided to stop guarding the bathroom.

Sesshomaru didn't say anything and Kagome just watched as he kept his back to her with a stringent posture but she knew he was fighting very hard to calm down. Finally, he turned to her, his gleaming eyes were webbed with red veins.

"Are you that repulsed by me?" he gritted, his tone guttural but laced with hurt. It was outlandish to witness but it was a side of him she never thought he had, the vulnerable side. Sesshomaru, who once was thought to have the emotional capacity of a rock was biting back tears of rage, or of pain, she wasn't sure, as he waited desperately for an answer. He flung the paper toward the floor. "Did you want to abolish any evidence of our past together, were they that cringeworthy? Do you hate me that much?"

Kagome began to shake and he thrusted his hands at her side and pulled him towards her.

"Please tell me no." he breathed, burying his face into her neck. He pushed his fingers through her hair starting at her nape as he brushed his lips across her jawline. "I cannot bear it if you do."

"I don't hate you." She whimpered. "I love you…very much, actually. I was just…scared. I didn't know what to do. You left and I didn't think you would come back and…"

"That is all I need to know." He pushed his bottom lip in between hers and she took in his essence as she pressed into his kiss firmly. Her fingers curled into his hair and they moaned longingly into each other's mouths. His mouth was warm, sending its heat uncoiling throughout her body. They broke away from their kiss to look into each other's eyes before he leaned in and claimed his mouth over hers, hungrily pulling at her bottom lip.

"I missed you." He murmured into her mouth breathlessly. She tried to reply expressing the same sentiment but instead made a throaty sound as his tongue glided across hers. Their kiss was becoming intense before Sesshomaru brought it to a halt. They were in Koga's bathroom and there were countless people outside, half of them being his employees. He snuck a few brief kisses on her lips before wrapping his arms around her waist. "Can we leave?"

"Yes." She said, casting a sultry gaze between his lips and eyes.

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

Shurran stormed into Koga's apartment with an agenda. Ignoring the cat calls coming from the cluster of meatheads on the couch, she scanned around the living room and was annoyed when she didn't see the raven-haired twit in sight. Kagome had to be here.

Miroku looked over shoulder from the pool table and winked at her.

"Hey there, sweet stuff, looking for someone to bear children with?"

"Miroku!" Sango slapped him beside the head.

"I was just kidding." He chuckled and glanced at Shurran.

"Actually," Shurran said. "Might you know where I can find Kagome Higurashi? She's a dear old friend of mine and I heard she was here."

Sango looked at her suspiciously.

"Yeah..."Miroku nodded and turned to shoot. " She's in the bathroom right now with Sesshomaru." He winked over his shoulder.

Sesshomaru's here? Ugh, whatever, I guess I can take care of two birds with one stone. Shurran thought as she turned to find the bathroom.

"Dear old friend?" Sango scoffed. "since when? I've known Kagome since fifth grade."

"Stop being jealous, sweetie." Miroku kissed her temple.

The hallway toward the bathroom was desolate, a couple was making out by the corner. Discreetly opening her purse, Shurran's fingers brushed against the barrel of her 9mm. Was she crazy? Absolutely but she had nothing to lose at this point and she wasn't going to let them get away with it. If she was going down, she would take as many with her. Sesshomaru had fired her with no severance and now she was left with an insane amount of debt and barely a few thousand to get her by. No, she refused to go on living in such a way. She'd kill them both before she offed herself.

With a quick turn of the knob, she pushed the door open and whipped her gun forward. Sesshomaru and Kagome were sitting on the edge of the bathtub, Kagome on his lap and they were in a tight embrace. Sesshomaru bolted upright and blocked Kagome.

"Shurran…" he growled.

"I cannot believe you fired me over this bitch!" she laughed as she rubbed the tears from her face, not caring that her makeup was being ruined. "I worked for you for three years, put in late hours and this is how you treat me? What does she have that I don't!" she started to sob in between her creepy giggles. It was clear she checked out the minute she walked in through the door, or perhaps after she was fired. Kagome peeked over Sesshomaru's shoulder and was shocked by the state of Shurran, her lipstick was smeared to the side, mascara leaked from her eyelashes and stained her cheeks, she was one giggle away from being the Joker's new sidekick.

"Put the gun down, Shurran." Sesshomaru raised his hand to calm her. "Put it down, your quarrels are with me!"

"No! You are perfect! She's the problem!"

If Shurran wasn't holding a gun, Kagome would have rolled her eyes, but she trembled behind Sesshomaru. His towering frame made it difficult to see Shurran fully.

"I just don't get it!" Shurran sniffled as she pointed the gun toward him, trying to aim toward Kagome but he shifted his body to block her completely. "You know, I could sue you for firing me just because of her."

"Then do it," he pleaded and Shurran looked over at Kagome, her nose twitching.

"Are you kidding me? Please tell me she's not pregnant with your child! This is a disaster! It was not supposed to turn out like this!" Shurran shook the gun at him.

"Shurran, I will ask you one last time, put the gun down!"

Koga was talking to Ayame when he peeped Shurran standing out in his hallway and he caught a glimpse at what she was holding. Looking around his apartment, he tried not to ensue panic. He told Ayame to call the police but refused to tell her why as he crept quietly toward the bathroom.

"You know what," he heard Shurran say. "Fuck it, I'm over you already!" A loud pop sounded making everyone around the apartment scream and start running toward the door. Koga darted into the bathroom to see Sesshomaru fighting her for the gun, his shoulder bleeding. Kagome was crouched on the floor crying. Koga snuck behind Shurran and punched her in the side of the temple. She collapsed to the floor and Sesshomaru seized the gun from her. Her eyes fluttered before she fell into an unconscious state.

"Dude, what the fuck?" Koga exclaimed.

Kagome sprung toward her feet and started crying as she grabbed at Sesshomaru's shoulder.

"I'm fine." He grunted as he pressed his palm over his shoulder. Koga quickly examined Kagome and they all looked down at Shurran.

"You guys are just a magnet for drama." Koga sighed.

Sesshomaru didn't look up from Shurran's unconscious body as he held his wound. You could have taken her from me, he thought. Shurran could have taken Kagome away from him within a second. Not when he just got her back, he thought.

"You need an ambulance?" Koga said. "You're like, bleeding and shit."

"No, I am alright." he looked down at Shurran and then behind him. " It went right through." he pointed to the wall behind him showing a bullet imbedded into it. Thankfully Shurran was a terrible shot or it could have gone through and hit Kagome.

"Man, I dunno if I should be hangin' with youse guys." Koga rubbed the back of his neck. "Gonna get me killed with all this drama.." he teased and winked at Kagome as he gazed down on the floor and picked up a pamphlet.

"Abortion?" Koga cocked a brow at them as he waved the pamphlet. "Someone wanna explain? his voice rasped. Their attention went to the door hearing the static of two-way radios. The police were here. "Bummer..."he looked at his watch. " It's like only 11:30 and the party is over." he shrugged. "I'll go talk to the cops."

"Sorry, Koga." Said Kagome.

"Eh, there's always other parties." He winked. "Just don't know if I'll invite you two though. No hard feelings."

The paramedics wouldn't let Sesshomaru go without being seen, which was a nuisance but only because Kagome insisted, he allowed it. The bleeding stopped and they taped bandages onto him that he would later rip off once he got home. He had taken Kagome to her house and was adamant about staying with her for the night. He was on high alert now wondering when the next problem would arise, it was unlikely that it would but he wasn't going to chance it. He trudged into his old room and was surprised to see it the same, except Kagome's belongings were in there and the bed had looked recently slept in. He looked over to her and she shrugged one of her shoulders.

"I couldn't…sleep in my own room afterward."

He smirked and looked into his closet, the rest of his clothes remained as he left it. Kirara scurried by and curled her body around his ankles, purring as she looked up at him.

"Someone misses you." Kagome giggled as she leaned against his doorframe.

He held back a grin and ambled back to her looking to be in deep thought. Brushing a strand of hair behind her ear, his gaze searched into her eyes. Something still ailed him, she thought.

"about the baby…" he whispered, caressing the back of his hand against her cheek. "What do you want to do?"

Kagome looked down and clasped a hand over her stomach. "I…want to have it." She bit her lips and looked at him, anticipating his reaction to her response. "Do…do you? I know it's soon and we just start—"

He smiled as he cupped his hand over her waist and nodded. "I do."

"You don't think we…are rushing into things?"

"Isn't that the foundation of our relationship?" he reached behind her and unzipped her dress.

"What are you doing?" she laughed as he nuzzled his face into her neck and started kissing it. She could feel his erection between her legs as he pressed his body into hers. "Um, you were shot, mister."

"Barely a scratch." He nibbled on her shoulder as he rolled the dress off of her. It fell into a heap on the ground as his hands roamed over her soft skin. He pulled away briefly to admire her body as he unclipped her bra. The lacey fabric released her mounds and he captured one in his hand as he ran his thumb over her nipple.

"A scratch," she stifled a moan. "You have a hole in your should— "he silenced her words as he drove his tongue into her mouth sending a pulse between her legs that ached for him to be inside her already. Forgetting about the wound on his shoulder, she thrusted her hands under his shirt and caressed the ridges of his abs. He gripped her neck and bent her head back with the force of his kiss as he pulled her thong down to her knees. Pinning her tight against the wall, he trailed his tongue down her chest, quickly sucking on her nipple and pinching the other on the way down until his face met with her pulsating damp core. He brought her underwear down to her ankles and with a kick of her heels, she aided in its removal. Lifting one of her legs over his shoulder, he nipped at her folds before plunging his warm tongue into her, sucking at first with intense pressure that made her almost choke on her moan. He moved his face in a circular motion and she gripped at his silver locks as he buried his face deep inside her. His moans vibrated her core as he helped himself in unbuckling his belt. In a swift movement, he pulled out his rock-hard length as he prepared her for his thrusts.

Heat and blood rushed to her core and she exploded into a scream that would make her neighbors wonder if she was being murdered. Quickly lifting himself up, he cupped her butt raising her to wrap herself around his waist as he brought her to the bed. He removed his sweater as he wedged himself between her legs, his appendage grazed against her inner thigh and it throbbed at how close it was to her center. He couldn't hold out any longer as he lifted her thigh, lowered his hips and delved into her slippery wetness slowly, feeling her tightness wrap around him like a cobra grip. He could not suppress the gasped moan emitting through his lips, it felt too good. He sunk deeper, pumping quicker to her encouraging moans as he watched her arch her back from the overwhelming pleasure. He could sense her reaching another climax and bit back the need to release into her until she jerked forward, impaled her fingernails into the skin of his forearms and cried out affectionate curses. Not a moment later the tip of his shaft swelled and exploded with all the love and desire he had for her.

They melted into each other's arms and remained that way until the next morning. Kagome had cracked her eyes open halfway, peering down at Sesshomaru's hand which caressed her stomach. He had strong looking hands, with its rounded claws and veins coiling from his knuckles up his arms. Life had a funny way of working out, she thought. Four months ago, she thought she would be moving in with Inuyasha, her boyfriend of five years into this apartment but instead, his brother, who'd been in love with her for the duration of her relationship while dating her sister, moved in with her and now she was pregnant with his child. She blinked into the silence of the bedroom as the reality of it all still could not weigh in.

Family get togethers for the holidays were going to be awkward.
