PJ succeeded in bypassing the security clearance. The alarms blared across the facility, doors unlocked, and cells started to slide open. Inmates poured out into the lobby, cautiously looking around not having a clue as to what was going on.

Shurran, Hiten and Yura marched in, holding their rifles. The inmates all surrounded them. Shinji and his men stood behind, gripping their guns and motioning each other to stand guard against the demons.

"Clan members of the Jade Order!" Shurran shouted. "We have come to release you. There are busses in the back waiting to take you home. The Jade Order will reunite, and we will be stronger than ever! Come take your place by my side so we can overthrow the General and the Shiro Inu Clan!"

No one moved. A few blinked and stared at each other. One man stepped forward. He wore a gray bandana, purple marks streaked from his eyes to his chin.

"Renkotsu, brother…it is good to see you." Shurran spoke.

He laughed. "Is this some sort of joke, Shurran? Please tell me this isn't the extent of your army? Humans? Are we that desperate?"

Shurran frowned. "This is just the beginning, Renkotsu. Remember we had a plan!"

"What plan? Lord Sesshomaru was supposed to lead, but he abandoned us for that human woman. We walk out of this penitentiary, we are all dead."

"You're already dead if you stay here!" she shouted, looking at everyone else for compliance but they all seemed to agree with Renkotsu.

A petite young girl stepped out of the crowd, her face stiff and devoid of any expression. Her short white hair rested against her green uniform.

"Kanna…" Shurran tittered. "Surely you disagree with Renkotsu. We don't have a lot of time. We all have to move, say something!"

Kanna's black eyes glowered at the humans behind Shurran. Her gaze shot back at her. Her voice was faint, but it was no secret that everyone in that room feared her.

"What plan do you have that'll ensure the demise of the Shiro Inu? Do you believe we will succeed with…the current resources you have?"

Shinji gave an incredulous side glance at PJ. This wasn't going to end well. The demons were going to turn on them, this he was sure of. He didn't care, all he wanted was Kagome. He honored his agreement, now they needed to get out of there so he could head back to the warehouse.

"Listen, we can all discuss that when we leave but it has to be now! This is your one and only chance! You know how devoted I am to this clan? I left my own son for this! Don't look at how things are now! Look at the big picture! We can restore our traditions."

Kanna's lips twitched into a partial grin. "Alright, Shurran. Lead us the way."

"I will not follow." Renkotsu turned around. "I promise you this will not end well."

A young man with white hair joined him by his side.

"Hakudoshi, we could use you." Shurran said.

Hakudoshi shrugged. "Renkotsu's right. It is best we serve our sentence. When the time comes, we will reunite, but this isn't our time."

About twenty clan members joined them at their side, the majority sided with Kanna.

"You won't get another chance at this." Shurran frowned.

They heard gunfire from afar. Someone was coming.

Shurran shouted orders for Hiten to take the inmates toward the loading dock out back where the busses awaited them. Yura handed a few of them assault rifles. They all made haste through the back when the floor rumbled. The sound of hundreds of footsteps rattled the walls.

"It's Inutaisho!" shouted one demon. "With his sentry!"

"Quick, let's go out the way we came in!" PJ bellowed. "We can lock them in!"

He ran to the control panel as everyone followed Hiten and Yura out of the penitentiary. Just as they did, Inutaisho's men blew the door down and charged inside.

"Hurry!" PJ said, punching a number into the keypad. A few inmates were frightened and ran back into their cells, including Renkotsu and Hakudoshi. Kanna and a large number of inmates followed Shurran out. Another alarm sounded and everything started to close. The steel doors started to close in on Inutaisho and his guards.

"Quick, Mudama, the door!" he pointed. Mudama darted forth and tried to hold the door from closing, but he could only buy a few seconds for Inutaisho and four of his men to go through before he was forced to let it close. Everyone else was locked in.

"Damn it all!" Inutaisho cursed as he banged against the door. He tried to scan his fingerprints but was denied access.

"They bypassed and reset the code. We must hurry, sir." Mudama said. "We need to catch up before we are locked in between corridors."

Inutaisho nodded, as he and Mudama chased after the clan members with all but four men to aid them.

"We have to find Sesshomaru and Koga!" Inutaisho panted, holding his gun close to his chest.

Samara and Arahim poke their heads out from underneath a tarp in the back of the van. Of course with their luck, they managed to get into the van her grandfather was in. Fortunately the men were engrossed in discussing schematics and with the help of a couple of airfreshners she had grabbed from the front of the car, she was able to mask their scent.

"We're going to get into so much trouble for this, that's if we don't get killed. I don't know about you, I'm hoping we get killed." Arahim rubbed his face. "What's your genius plan?"

"I don't have one. I'm improvising. I just want to help." Samara searched the van for weapons but all she could find was a few push daggers and a couple of police batons.

"I swear they really need to upgrade." She scoffed. "They're so stuck in Feudal Era."

She opened the back door of the van and jumped out, Arahim followed suit. They were inside the headquarters, by the freight entrance where most of the security vans parked. Fortunately, she'd spent a great deal at her father's job and knew her way well around.

"Where do you think they went?" Arahim whispered.

"My grandfather thinks the penitentiary is being broken into, judging by the sounds of the alarms, I'm guessing they already did but I'm sure it's locked now so we are going to have to go around the building."

Arahim took a deep breath, grabbed a baton from her and nodded.

"Let's go then."

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

The demons made it to the bus. It was starting to become chaotic as everyone slightly panicked and pushed through each other trying to get on.

Shurran groaned. "Please, one at a time."

Kanna stood by the entrance of the bus and everyone allowed her on first. They forced themselves to calm down as each one individually mounted the bus in an orderly fashion.

Shinji pulled Shurran, Hiten and Yura away from the bus. He and PJ giving each other another look.

"This is where we part ways." Shinji said. "As per our agreement, I have Kagome and you have the Jade Order, make sure you wire us the money by sunrise."

"Sure." Shurran forced a smirk. "You will have your money…."

They all stopped when they heard the sound of metal clinging on the floor. It rolled past their feet and underneath a bus. It happened so fast. Shurran's red eyes saw Sesshomaru walking slowly toward them with Koga beside him. Shurran looked back at the grenade underneath the bus and met eyes with Kanna, who was inside it.

"NO!" Shurran cried before the bus blew up, the force pushing their bodies far away. Shurran hit her arm against a metal pipe. PJ flew into another car, his neck snapped upon collision. Shinji, Yura and Hiten flew across the floor. Yura broke her ankle against a metal beam.

Shinji and Hiten jumped to their feet and started shooting at Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru pushed Koga out of his way and started running at them, firing his gun relentlessly. A few bullets pierced his shoulder but it didn't stop him. He shot Hiten in the chest but missed Shinji when he jumped behind a van.

"On your knees!" Sesshomaru thundered as he continued shooting at them. He heard his father call out his name and saw him running across the lot with Mudama. Shurran starting shooting at them, killing four of the guards and wounding Mudama, he collapsed on the floor. Inutaisho fired his rifle at Shurran piercing her in the arm and leg. She fell to her knees and clutched her leg in pain.

"Drop your guns now!" Shinji shouted. They all paused for a second and watched in horror as Shinji held his gun at Koga's temple. Koga cursed under his breath, looking at Sesshomaru disappointedly for being caught.

"Just shoot this motherfucker!" Koga shouted but Sesshomaru and his father remained frozen.

"I will only say this once, you pathetic waste of existence, seize your weapon and yield!"

"You are in no position to insult me, Lord. If you kill me, you won't ever find your precious wife and daughter."

Sesshomaru's face stiffened. "Let him go."

"Do you even remember me?" Shinji laughed. "You have any idea what you took from me? You took everything from me, you took my dream job, you took my sweet Kagome!"

"Oh god…" Koga rolled his eyes.

"Shut up!" Shinji smacked his gun against Koga's head. Koga pressed his lips tightly to contain the pain. He took a deep breath. "You had no interest in anything but you just had to have it, because you could. You need to learn that you can't have it all. You can't have this royal status, the beautiful family, this amazing power, the good looks…"

Koga snorted and Shinji hit him again. He grabbed his radio and requested for backup. Sesshomaru and his father looked across the lot and could see about a hundred men running their way.

"I'm going to take it all away from you. Your best friend, your wife, all of it!"

"Ariyana, Sasuke…where are you?" Inutaisho whispered into his earpiece.

There was a little screech coming from the side, Sesshomaru, Koga and his father stared wide eyed as Samara and Arahim charged forth. Samara threw a dagger at Shinji, it hit his face and Koga was able to get away from him.

Samara started swinging the baton at Shinji. Seeing that Shinji was about to strike her, Sesshomaru jumped forward at an insane speed as he grabbed his daughter before he could. He spun her around to block Shinji's attack, he ended up striking Sesshomaru in the back

"What are you doing here!" he shouted but Samara was still trying to swing her baton at Shinji. Sesshomaru pushed her out of the way as he turned to block one of Shinji's hits. He managed to disarm him but bullets started to fly their way as Shinji's men gained in on them. Inutaisho grabbed Samara and guarded her with his body as he shot at the men coming toward them. There were too many for them.

Sesshomaru started to shoot at them beside his father. Koga grabbed Samara and Arahim and pushed them behind a van.

"Arahim?" Shurran whimpered, trying to get herself off the floor. Arahim just stared at his mother, his face expressing great resentment. Shinji tried to grab Samara but Arahim blocked him. He swung his baton against Shinji's elbow, breaking his arm.

"Get away from her." Arahim hissed.

"Screw it. I have the other one anyway!" Shinji snapped and ran across to meet his men.

"There's too many, where are the guards!" Sesshomaru yelled.

"They got locked inside the penitentiary. Ariyana and Sasuke are supposed to be at the tower!"

The men continued to shoot when just then, they were all being taken down ten at a time, bullets flying across from the tower.

"We're here, sir." Ariyana said into Inutaisho's earpiece. She and Sasuke stationed themselves at the tower with their sniper rifles. Shinji's men started to run the opposite way.

Yura looked over at her brother across the floor from her. He was laying on his back in his own pool of blood. He wasn't breathing. She tried to drag her body across to be closer. Everything felt like slow motion as she watched Shinji's men be taken down by snipers with Sesshomaru and his father.

Koga had his back guarding the kids but he hadn't noticed Shurran creeping up behind them aiming her gun at Samara's head.

"Oh my god, no!" Yura's voice cracked as she tried to shout but the gunfire was too loud. "No, Koga watch out!"

Koga couldn't hear her. Sesshomaru glanced over at that moment to see her reach for the gun beside her brother. He watched her aim it at Shurran and fired. She caught Shurran in the chest but Shurran shot back twice, hitting Yura in the chest and stomach before dropping her gun to the floor. Arahim turned around to see his mother clutching her chest trying to breathe. Samara and Koga turned around as well.

"Mother…" Arahim whispered, catching her as she fell to the ground. She tried to talk but blood filled her throat. He rested his palm across her face as she took her final breath. "Sleep well, mother. I forgive you…"

Samara clasped her mouth, watching Arahim cradle his dead mother. She tried to rest her hand on Arahim's shoulder but Koga pulled her away.

"Let him be, Sammy…"

Sesshomaru ran to Yura, pressing his hand on her stomach.

"No…no…" she cried. "You have to go now. He's gone."

Sesshomaru looked around and didn't see Shinji.

"He's going back for her. Kimora is there too." Yura croaked, trying to take deeper breaths but it was getting harder as she felt her hearing go. Her eyes fluttered and Sesshomaru shook her.

"Where is she, Yura? Please…" Sesshomaru begged, shaking her even more.

Yura took another breath. "Batt-ery pla-place…seven..fifty…"she took another deep breath. "I'm scared…"

Sesshomaru watched the life fade from her eyes and he set her head down softly. He turned to his father while he continued to shoot along with the snipers. "I have to go! Kagome and Kimora are in battery park!"

"Ariyana, Sasuke… take them all out!" Inutaisho ordered. "Let's go then, Koga, grab the children. We will take the helicopter, it's faster!"

Sesshomaru felt his hands become cold as they ran up to the chopper, he tried to mask it but his body shook with fear. His father grabbed his wrist when they mounted themselves onto it.

"They'll be alright, son. Our women are tough." He looked at Samara.

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

Elijah and Kimora got to the warehouse. They climbed up the ladder to the fire escape and made their way to the third floor. Kagome and Lord Modo Kai looked surprised as they entered through the fire escape door.

"Kimora, no…why'd you come back here? Did you call your fathe- Elijah?"

"Hey, Lady Kagome, long time, huh?" he said, searching for something to open the cell.

"We need to hurry, he's going to come back, is it only you?"

"I called for backup, but the city is a shit show right now. The DDC was broken into so everyone is out there and because of the shutdown, cars can't get through. We can't depend on them. Did you see them with a key?"

"I think Shinji has it, Shinji Yoko, he's behind this! Shurran Bokunaska and…Yura Izumi."

"Ok, listen…Kimora, stay here with your mother. I'm going to look for a key or something to break the doors down."

"You're going by yourself? There's like ten guys." Kimora said.

"Here," Elijah handed her his back up glock that he had behind his back.

"Elijah, she's ten years old, she doesn't know how to—"

Kimora pressed the magazine release, put it back into the gun. Once it clicked, she cocked it back.

Kagome pressed her head against the bars and groaned. "I'm going to kill your father. I am going to kill him."

Elijah opened the door quietly and slipped through as he closed it behind him. Kimora held onto the gun and searched for something to pry the bars open.

After a few minutes, there was gunfire. There was loud thumping across the floor and walls.

"Kimora, go hide!" Kagome whispered.

Kimora hid behind a large plastic wrap behind a metal bed hanging overhead. The door swung open and Shinji walked in holding a badge.

"So…not sure who the cop is, but if you were relying on him. Don't." he laughed and then stopped when he noticed Kimora wasn't in the cell.

"Oh, Kagome…what did you do?"

"I don't know what you're talking about, Shinji!"

Shinji reached his hand into the cell and grabbed Kagome by the hair. He banged her head against the metal bars.

"You stupid bitch, what did you do!" he shouted. Lord Modo Kai clawed at Shinji's hand. Shinji yelped in pain and reached for his gun when Kimora came out to attack. Shinji was taken aback when Kimora whipped him against his face with the gun. He grasped his face and stared with amazement.

He cackled. "This is the second time one of your daughters attack me. You've raised some feisty mini yous'. I'm actually impressed."

Kimora pointed the gun at him.

"You're not going to shoot me." He snorted. "Come on, little girl, put the gun down. Don't make me into a child killer, so put the gun down now."

Kimora's hands trembled, Shinji kept moving toward her and she kept moving back. She didn't notice he was leading her underneath the metal bed hanging above them.

"Kagome….please tell your daughter to put the gun down. You don't want to see her get hur—"

Shinji screeched as the bullet Kimora fired grazed his arm. Angrily, he released the latch by the wall making the metal bed fall on Kimora. She tried to move out of the way but it caught and trapped her legs.

Kimora screamed in pain as the metal bed weighed down heavily against her legs. Looking toward the cell he could see Kagome go crazy. She started shaking the bars and wailing.

"I'm going to kill you!" she shouted.

"I gave you a choice! All you had to do was choose me! Choose me! I told you, if I can't have you, no one can!"

He grabbed the jugs of gasoline and started pouring it around the room. He lit the match and stared one last time at Kagome as she continued to scream and shake the bars.

"Noooo! Help!" Kagome screamed.

"I'm sorry it had to come to this." He said as he dropped the match and ran out of the fire escape. Flames burst and spread within seconds all around them.

"Mommy!" Kimora cried, trying to pull her legs out from under the metal bed. "It hurts!"

Kagome continued to shake the bars, her eyes turning crimson red. Her fangs protruded out of her gums. Lord Modo Kai gasped, losing his balance and falling back to the ground as he watched veins pop out at the side of her head, the bars started to creak and he could see that the bars were bending.

They could all hear a helicopter above them, lights shining into the windows.

Kagome growled as she continued to pry the bars wide. She gave out one final blood curdling scream before breaking the bars apart.

Kimora forgot the room was on fire as she watched her mother beast out of the cell. She rushed toward her and lifted the metal grate off as if it weighed nothing. She hugged Kimora and kissed her forehead then checked her legs.

"It's not broken." Kimora said. "I just have a cut on my ankle."

"Ok, good. We have to go. Go to the fire escape, there's a helicopter out there!"

Kimora rushed to the fire escape door, swinging it open, the helicopter hovered beside the building. She could see her father look over at her, his face shined relief as he removed his earmuffs. She could see her grandfather, Koga, Arahim and her sister looking back at her.

"Mommy, it's daddy!" Kimora cried.

"Go to him!" Kagome coughed from the smoke. She went toward the cell and grabbed Lord Modo Kai.

"What are you doing, child. Get out of here, I cannot move my legs!"

"I'm not putting up with this stubbornness of yours. I'm not leaving you." She said, pulling him out of the cell. She placed one arm around his waist as he put his arm around her neck.

"This is so embarrassing." Lord Modo Kai complained.

Kagome carried him to the door. Sesshomaru had just pulled Kimora into the helicopter when he turned around, he was actually startled by the sight of his wife. Very faint blue vains scattered across her face, her eyes blood shot red.

"What the shit happened to you?" Koga said, behind him.

Sesshomaru grabbed Lord Modo Kai and pulled him into the helicopter.

"We have to get out of here!" Inutaisho shouted, the propeller is spreading the fire quicker."

"I have to find Elijah!" Kagome shouted.

"Kagome, no!" Sesshomaru yelled. "Get back here!"

"I can't go without knowing if he's alive or not!" she turned back. Sesshomaru jumped out of the helicopter onto the fire escape. "Get them out of here!" he said to his father. Koga jumped out onto the fire escape.

"I'm coming with."

"Really." Sesshomaru looked back in disbelief as he ran after Kagome. Koga ran after them.

The fire was spreading fast. Sesshomaru reached Kagome and quickly scanned her to see if she was ok. There were a few bodies across the floor with bullet wounds, Elijah must have taken a few out.

Kagome's tainted red eyes scanned the room. Through the blaze, they could all hear someone shouting for help. They all went down a staircase, Elijah was at the bottom of the steps, bleeding from the side of his stomach.

"Hey, kids." He smiled. "Whatcha up to? I'm just chilling here…waiting for help."

Sesshomaru went down the steps with Koga and they helped him up. Elijah leaned his body on Koga's and they went down another flight of steps away from the fire. Through a window, Sesshomaru could see his father landed the helicopter a few blocks down from them. Sirens sounded and not too far, by the bridge, the NYPD and DDC vans were heading toward them.

They made their way to the bottom of the steps when Sesshomaru felt a presence. As soon as he turned around, Shinji had already pulled Kagome to him.

"You really don't listen." He laughed and waved his gun at them. Sesshomaru pointed his gun at Shinji.

"Uh-uh…" Shinji swayed around with Kagome and pressed the barrel to her head. "You're really going to try and risk your wife's life? What if you hit her? What if you miss?" Shinji continued to taunt him, laughing maniacally.

Sesshomaru clenched his jaw. He had excellent marksmanship but the idea that he could potentially hit Kagome made him second guess himself.

Shinji cooed. "Awww, what's the matter? This great and powerful almighty demon go-"

A loud gunshot sounded, and they all flinched. Sesshomaru panicked as he looked at Kagome who was looking back at him just as shocked. Shinji's eyes rolled back as blood poured out from a hole in the middle of his head. Elijah, Sesshomaru and Kagome all look to Koga, his hand trembling as he held his gun out.

"Oh my god, you could have killed me, Koga! Babe, how could you let him shoot, do you not remember the paintball incident?" Kagome cried and rushed to him. Sesshomaru pulled her into a tight embrace. Elijah patted Koga on the back.

"Nice shot!"

It took Koga a minute to realize what just happened. His blue eyes widened.

"Did you see that? Right between the eyes!"

But no one acknowledged him as they walked toward the exit. He stayed behind for a minute to stare down at Shinji's body absorbing the fact that he had taken someone's life. Snapping out of it, he made his way to the exit. When he got outside, a hundred guns pointed at him.

"Hold your fire!" one of the DDC soldiers shouted. "It's just the secretary!"

Everyone started to laugh, including Lord Inutaisho who fell into a fit of laughter. Koga pursed his lips at Kagome and Sesshomaru, smirking at him.

"Oh, whatever man. I just saved the day, screw you, guys!"

"We're kidding, Koga." Kagome laughed. "Thank you."

"Mother!" Samara cried as she pushed through the crowd of cops. "Mom!" she said again, desperation in her voice. She saw her mother and her face went long as she fell into a sob, running to her with arms out.

Kagome felt her stomach drop seeing Samara rush to her with tears in her eyes. She couldn't hold back her own tears. She thought she would never see her again. Samara jumped into her arms and she carried her into the air in a tight embrace. Sesshomaru rested his hand behind Kagome's neck and rubbed Samara's shoulders as she buried her face into her mother's neck.

"Mother…" Samara sniffed. "Your face."

Kagome smiled. "It'll go away. It's a long story."

Lord Modo Kai passed by them in a stretcher. He met Kagome's eyes briefly before turning his head the opposite way.

Kagome bowed her head and sighed. Nothing will ever change. She will never be accepted by him and she had to get over it. What mattered was that her family was safe.
