It's been quite some time since I posted a fic on here, hasn't it?

Anyway, this fic takes place a long time after Majora's Mask; Link is still searching for Navi, and deduced that she may have entered a grotto somewhere in Termina, specifically in Ikana Canyon. However, he discovers that the situation is much more complicated than he expected, and he really should have considered bringing his transformation masks.

Enjoy...

As Link descended down into the grotto, he was quickly subjected to a stench resembling that of decaying corpses. It was possible that the infamous undead monsters were lurking about somewhere further into the cavern, or lifeless bodies had been poorly entombed in the area.

This should give me a clue on where Navi is, Link thought in angst, looking around the desolate area with an unsettled frown.

The Hero of Time slowly crept towards what appeared to be the remains of a doorway, and caught the sight of an acidic pool similar to what he had seen in the Royal Family's tomb. The only difference being the brightness of the glow, which succeeded in illuminating the entire cave-like structure.

Link took a brief glance at his surroundings, seeing that the grotto somewhat resembled the Ikana Castle, albeit much more eroded. What used to be pillars of sorts were broken down, evidently ruined by geological changes and the acids they were dipping into. What was left of the architecture had been sinking into the pool of acid, which was surrounded by fractured Hylian skulls.

Without warning, the sounds of inhuman groans came from various directions, the same groans that ReDeads were known to frequently make. Link turned to see two ReDeads sitting near the remains of the doorway he came through, almost sighing with relief before a set of Infinite Hands erupted from the ground, completely surrounding him.

Before the Hylian hero could react, the heinous monster known as the Dead Hand lurched out from underneath the cavern's floor as well, making a sinister smirk once it successfully balanced itself.

As if knowing what was occurring, the ReDeads lazily stood up and approached Link, coming to aid their apparent ally in the inevitable fight. Link quickly pulled his sword from its sheath, attempting to slash the Dead Hand across its face before it raised its head, slowly retreating as its Infinite Hands became fixated on its prey.

The Infinite Hands lunged at Link, and were quickly sliced to pieces once the young man's blade made contact with each of them. The ReDeads stopped once they came within touching distance of the Infinite Hands, exchanging emotionless looks at each other as if they were uncertain of their survival.

They're hesitating...maybe I have a chance, Link thought with a grin, turning to face the Dead Hand once it resurfaced.

One of the ReDeads then let out its horrendous shriek, stunning Link in place. The Hero of Time wanted to yell in frustration at falling victim to this yet again, feeling a mixture of fear and anger once a pair of Infinite Hands grabbed him by the shoulders, further preventing his escape.

The ReDead duo continued their approach, while the Dead Hand opened its mouth as widely as it possibly could. The unnerving monster then lunged at the hero, and bit into his head in the most devastating way possible. The pale creature's teeth had easily penetrated Link's skin, and made it halfway past the outer regions of his skull, failing to fully harm Link's brain.

Once the effects of the ReDead's paralyzing technique wore off, Link bellowed with a volume that could practically shatter fragile materials, causing the Dead Hand to free Link's head from its mouth, cringing as its ears were plagued with an amount of pain equal to what Link was currently experiencing.

The Dead Hand backed away, giving a weak smile as Link dropped his weapon and placed his hand over the morbid wound. A disturbing amount of blood flowed from the terrible injury Link had sustained, swiftly covering the Hylian's face and seeping into his mouth.

Link discontinued screaming to spit the blood out, doing his best to clear his thoughts before one of the ReDeads jumped on his back, while the other knelt to the ground, grabbing his legs to further prevent his escape.

The ReDead that had latched onto Link swatted his hand away, and continued where the Dead Hand had left off, biting his head continuously in an attempt to completely devour it. The ReDead then pulled Link's hat off, and bit into the back of his head, doing its best to remove the skin before penetrating his skull.

Apparently pleased with its allies work, the Dead Hand advanced towards their trapped meal, broadly opening its mouth yet again. The Dead Hand launched its head towards Link, this time aiming for his left arm.

The vile creature bit into Link's limb, sinking its teeth a few inches above his forearm. The Dead Hand's strong teeth reached Link's bone, and with no effort at all, the monster tore his arm directly out of its socket, creating a bloody gruesome mess in the process.

Link wanted to shriek at the top of his lungs, but the pain had overwhelmed him completely at this point. The Hero of Time was glad that he didn't see the loss of his arm, the prospect of his death at the hands of these abominations was both humiliating and far too mortifying at the same time.

As the Dead Hand consumed his crudely removed arm and the ReDead continued to destroy his head, Link recited the heroic achievements he had made throughout his life, and felt no regrets as he awaited the moment where the undead beasts would finally kill him.

Though he currently had no way of confirming it, Link had an uncanny suspicion that the ReDead had pierced his skull, and was in the process of eating his brain. Before he knew it, the Hero of Time's vision faded into a white void of sorts, and his departure from the world commenced.
