Lingering around a door was a couple of guys. One wore shades, the other had a scar running over one of his cloudy eyes and a third sat on the floor with neon yellow skin, hair and had visible veins that you could just see.
The inmate with the scar had just arrived. "You ready?" Zuko asked, sitting up against the wall, right next to Li Kagayami.
"Did you bring the tools?"
"Whatcha think?"
Shaking his head a little, Touya pulled his shades down as he stared at the door. After a couple of minutes of staring, the man turned his attention to the two that sat closer to the door (after putting his shades back on that is). "No one is behind the door right now, best to make the move now."
"Here."
Li felt something enter his hand. Grasping firmly, he felt the tools he needed for the difficult job before him. "Hm. Seems the whole tag team idea worked..."
Already heading for the door, the rookie began to work on getting it open. It wasn't like the old exoskeleton he built in the past. This would be child's play in comparison.
Maybe he could find it after they break out of the ward?
"What about Remko?" Zuko asked as he looked back to where Remko was supposed to be coming from.
"He's out dealing with that vampire freak," Li grumbled out. "If he's not here by the time I open it, fuck him then. It's his fault for not being here."
Shaking his head once more, Touya crossed a leg over the other. "Since he's dealing with our distraction, I would say he's buying us time. From what I've seen of Rin Yonaga is that he would act immediately once he drinks a cup of that stuff."
Zuko shrugged as he turned around. The only thing to do was wait until the door was unlocked.
It would be a race against time.
The guards would notice eventually. When Zuko looked over his shoulder, he was impressed how quickly he worked on the door. He was clearly skilled.
"Did you work on some locks before?" the con artist asked. "Or perhaps worked on machinery?"
Li kept his focus, only uttering, "something like that..."
Huffing, the conman turned back around as he kept his eyes peeled for anything that would thwart their plans until he saw a figure approach, trying his best not to run.
The closer he got, the louder the noise in the distance grew.
"Remko?" Zuko had no time as an alarm started to bounce off the walls. A loud one at that too.
"I gave Rin the cup! Though there was some slight problem." the silver armed inmate came to a stop, looking over at Li who worked hard on the door.
Touya pulled his shades down a little, giving the short haired escapist a look. "Problem?"
"On my way over, it seems that some other inmates started a fight elsewhere," the jailbreaker held his hand up, adding more information. "I've heard the sound of fighting when I left Rin too, I doubt he waited like I told him..."
"That's what you get for trusting him," coughed Li in that not so subtle way of his.
"Shove it, how's the door?" With the complete change of topic, Remko leaned up against the wall.
"It's going well, they definitely had the idea of lockpickers and others in mind when they put it in. I would say it's sturdier than most protective doors out there."
As Li rambled, switching up his tools, Touya moved his shades lower, almost going cross-eyed with how he was staring so closely at the wall before him. "The walls too, they really made them thick...for multiple reasons." the gentleman's tone was rather soothing as he turned his blazing eyes to the door, gazing through it. "Still no guards here though…"
Li picked up the pace, working hard on getting the door open. Swapping tools as sweat rolled down his face. It didn't help that he had three pairs of watching eyes on his body as a loud siren boomed overhead.
It wasn't stressful at all. No, totally not.
"Come on..." Remko looked back to where he came. "Hurry up. The guards are most likely to stop us any second now!"
When he looked over to the other two, the most composed one was Touya. "He did mention he wanted a dangerous escape..." when Akko looked over to Yamamoto, he seemed rather calm, but not as much as Touya. Zuko was more like him, composed for now, but wanted Li to hurry the fuck up.
That's when he heard some rather good news.
"Got it!" Turning to Touya Kotaki, the others gave plenty of space for the man.
A quick inspection followed up a thumbs up was enough for Li to open the door. "Quick, before they catch on!" Li grunted.
When they all passed through the door, they watched as the self appointed group leader grabbed hold of the door and slammed it shut. The way he slammed it though...he had his silverish metal arm jam the door.
"Don't want any others following through, like Rin."
That was all Remko said to explain himself. Not that anyone else there really cared about the reasoning while Li dumped the tools on the ground.
"It doesn't matter, let's get a move on. You're on point, Touya." With a look from the cloudy eyed conman, the sunglasses-wearing inmate just gave the perfect, gentleman's smile.
"Very well, our escape is this way, fellas."
In the ward, seated at a lone table was a lonely vampire. His black hair was a mess, pointing in every single direction as his red eyes bore down on something else red.
Sitting in front of him was a cup filled with the special red liquid he loved so much. Remko had just put it in front of him and told him, "wait until I am out of sight, count to thirty and let loose."
So he did just that. Wait and wait. He watched as Remko took his sweet time to leave his line of sight.
But really, what was thirty seconds? It's not like anyone else was keeping track of time. He almost drank it there and then. The only reason he prevented himself from doing so was the allure of more and more blood after the successful job...but...
Would the complete thirty seconds really matter in the end?
"!" Rin raised his head as Remko finally left his line of sight. It was about time, the scent of his favourite drink was taunting his nose. He couldn't wait half a minute!
He dived face first towards the cup, grabbing hold of the cup with his mouth in the best way to drink all the nice, tasty blood within. It took a couple of attempts to get a firm hold, but once he did, he chugged it down so goddamn hard it made drunken college students look away in shame.
Even after the arm-bounded inmate downed the entirety of the cup within mere seconds, crimson eyes dilated while his tongue searched the empty container for any other droplets that managed to survive the onslaught.
Realising that the cup was truly empty now, the dilated Rin stood. He felt...great! He could take on the world like this! He stretched his arms (or at least he tried to) as the straitjacket stretched a little.
Sometimes it was good to have a blood-drinking quirk.
"Huh. Sturdy stuff." he commented on the white straitjacket that he wore. They really chose some good stuff as he turned his attention on the walking inmates around him.
They smelt...good.
In a bloody way.
He could go for seconds...and he was going to get those seconds.
The vampire bared his fangs.
The poor walking blood bags had no idea what to expect when he suddenly started running at them with blitzing speed.
"What the-" the first inmate saw the vampire dash at him way too fast to compute. The next minute the vampire's fangs sunk into their neck. You could see the colour drain from their face as the teeth popped off like Rin had just had a refreshing drink. He even threw his head back like he was prompting an ad.
The other inmates that witnessed said events just stared for a while as they registered what happened.
The first thing they noticed was that Rin seemed different. The insane look in his eyes was still there, but it seemed more focused. Dangerously so.
Any thoughts about the reasons why this was happening or what happened with Rin to promote such a bold charge was ignored as an inmate was kicked into the wall by said vampire.
"I'm really thirsty, but there's only so many of you to drink from~," Rin cried out, swaying from side to side, "if only there was a way to choose the best ones..."
Faster than anyone could imagine, Rin appeared before one of the taller inmates, sweeping the leg to bring him down to earth. During the descent, his fangs bit into the man's neck as he screamed, hands gripping to free himself from Rin's jaw to no avail.
After a quick drink, he tossed the inmate aside. "Ah well, I guess I'll have to go with all of you. Hunting prey sounds like much more fun! Better fight well!"
"Just take this guy!" an inmate shouted pushing another in front of him like some sacrificial lamb.
"Fuck you buddy."
"Screw this, I ain't being some vampire's lunch!"
More and more discourse spread throughout the ones nearby, enough to start an argument with their fists.
A thrown punch, a thrown punch was all it took to cause a chain reaction. A punched inmate landed on another, who attacked the punched inmate which got the anger of another inmate sitting not that far away. It devolved further and further as the sound of an alarm took hold of the entire ward.
"Hahaha! Look at all the blood! The hunting grounds are great today! Thank you for the wonderful drink!"
Bending down as low as he could, the restrained inmate broke out into a sprint, leaping into the air before crashing down on another inmate in the middle of the chaos. The guards would come soon and he has yet to sample the fine wines before him.
He always wondered how their blood would taste and he wasn't letting this opportunity pass him by!
Armed with only his teeth and his legs, Rin grew faster and stronger the more he sank his fangs into the walking blood bags around him.
Some of the other inmates returned to group tactics once the red eyed inmate arrived on the scene. His increased speed boost didn't do much for his attackers, resulting in them being crushed with a simple foot to the face, dragging them from high in the sky to the ground below.
As he feasted on the inmates that fought all around him, Rin couldn't help but grin to himself, licking his lips. "I can't wait for all that extra blood!"
Whether he realised it or not, the chaos that unfolded all around him, the fighting and him picking out new targets to drink from. Growing stronger to take on multiple threats under the false illusion of gallons of blood to drink in his own time...he completed his mission as guards arrived on the scene.
Rin had successfully caused a riot.
...
Sitting alone in an office, Seimei tapped a pen down on a piece of legal paper he didn't really want to be looking at. One day his vacation will arrive. One day.
The sudden blare of the sirens made his head jump up and he almost uttered, "oh thank god."
While the words didn't leave his lips, his eyes narrowed on why the alarm was going off, almost sighing. "Another normal day at Styx."
Standing and reaching for the wooden practice sword that sat to the side, the warden decided to pay a visit in person to the ward in question. Not because paperwork was boring him, totally not that.
Eris had left the prison very early in the morning, accompanied by many guards like Dahlia. Some of those guards escorted handcuffed and bound guards that disappointed both of them. Guards caught in the act (well one guard, the rest coming to light) with a prisoner.
It would be a problem for the news to catch wind of it. The only good thing about it was that there weren't that many guards that committed the act as they once thought when it came to light and now the inmate in question was sitting in one of the solitary confinement cells for the next couple of days.
He didn't feel sorry for the former leader of the former blue sun gang.
Eris would deal with those guards off Styx's premises while he dealt with the entirety of the prison for a while...including all paperwork that was just waiting on the desk behind him...
"Now, let's see what all the fuss is about..."
Thanks to Rin's distraction, the group had managed to get the first part of their escape plan.
Get out of bounds.
All but Touya were on guard, in case any of the guards reacted. They would know of their escape, so there was no time to waste as they followed Kotaki who took off his shades.
"We'll be in the clear, but not camera wise," he began, looking down the hall. "Our entrance is right over there."
"Then let's hurry up!" Li ran forward, prompting the others to get a move on.
A huff from Zuko as he looked behind them. "It's a bit concerning to see an empty hallway though."
"It doesn't matter," Remko took the lead, reaching closer to the destination and past a few different cameras. "We just have to charge right on in! Cameras would have already spotted us so they're already sending someone-"
Before Remko could finish, red rotating lights started to flash from the sides of the walls. "...good one, Remko."
"Oh, shut it Li!"
"They're trying to close us in." muttered Zuko as the group watched as heavy metal shutters came from above.
"It doesn't matter if they close! I can get us through if that happens!" grinned the escape artist, holding up his metal arm. He did receive a really nasty scoff from Li.
"Your quirk?"
"Nah," he replied, not even noticing the change in tone of his fellow escapee. "Didn't even want this thing, it was forced on me. It's good though."
"...I see." a complete mood shift.
"Now gentlemen," Touya coughed his way into the conversation. "Our goal is right up ahead, I suggest you leave the small talk for when we get to a much safer position."
As the group continued to bypass the closing shutters, slowly moving in to stop them. Touya couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at how slow they were moving.
"This door right?" Zuko called out, snapping Touya out of his thoughts.
"Yes!"
Remko grinned as he charged the door as the shutters came down faster behind them.
Sadly, that wasn't the only problem they faced.
A loud round of bangs and cracks shot through the air, crashing into the ground before them.
"I thought it was weird that no guards made themselves known!" Remko grinned, narrowly dodging the bullets that embedded the ground where he almost stepped on.
"It's still weird regardless," Touya shook his head with a smile. "The lack of guards could be pretty dangerous in itself."
"Oi! Can we at least focus on that thing?!" Li held back his hand from slapping the two of them.
Standing before the escape group was a robot. A big robot.
A robot that was seen out of a sci-fi flick.
When the introduction of quirks came around, advanced machines like these robots came next. Certain places had used robots in the past and even now. Certain places used robots as security measures, exam testing, places where humans couldn't reach or even now, like guards. And much, much more.
It depended on the robot. Some were simply camera drones, others were used to repair buildings or treat injuries and of course, others were made to fight! Some were just AI and others could be piloted. Technology really came far since quirks first appeared in the world.
Prisons like Styx and Tartarus had their fair share of advanced robots to use at their disposal. It really depended on the preference on how they're used if they were used at all, but they did add some extra security.
"And here I thought Styx preferred human guards more." Touya mused loudly as the group dispersed as another round of fire was unleashed from the bipedal machine. "I guess they still do if they're out here."
Styx relied more on their guards, but advanced machines like this proved useful, if only for advanced security in some places or needed strength. These machines were mostly kept in storage for that rainy day!
Like now or some other event or problem.
"It doesn't matter!" Remko shouted as he prepared his silver arm. "I'm taking this thing down!"
The bipedal machine was just one of many within Styx. It even had the word STYX in big bold letters on its side. A grey machine with two arm-like extensions and something that looked like a tail. A single red lens acted as an eye of sorts.
It was the only obstacle right now that was in front of their destination, they had to be quick. Remko raised his metallic right arm, ready to fight the blocky machine.
OMA (Organic Mechanical Arm): Remko's quirk takes the form of a silver, metallic arm. Due to experiments, the metallic material has completely taken over his entire arm right down to the flesh, blood and bone! Thanks to this, he can reshape parts of his arm and can even fire very simple and small ballistics.
The light of Styx's droid eye-lens shined a bright red. "Targets confirmed. Proceeding with recapture protocol."
The first thing the large, blocky droid did was shine two bright lights from its shoulders. It wasn't enough to blind everyone, but one person fell victim to it.
"Ah!"
The con-artist turned to see Touya Kotaki cover his eyes, even his shades didn't help. "That's right! His increased eyesight!"
Grabbing hold of Touya, the conman could do at least one thing. "We'll let you two deal with this thing." As the two ran to the side, giving time for Touya to readjust his eyes (however long that would take), Remko and Li stared up at the droid.
It was times like this that Li thought. "Would a quirk be useful here?"
Despite his enhanced strength that he gave himself, Kagayami Li was born without a quirk. Something that condemned him to the life he now lived. Right now, there were more pressing matters.
The Styx droid attacked.
Unlike before, it didn't fire the barrage of bullets from its wrists, but it did pack a mean punch which echoed through the corridor.
As the robot attacked, the metallic arm of the prison breaker shifted as he attacked! Despite the upgrades of his arm and the punches said arm could do, it didn't do much to dent the armour of it.
"What is this thing made out of?" he wondered to himself right as his hand moulded into something akin to a shield, blocking an incoming strike.
Pushed back from the impact, a round of gunshots fired in the air as everyone but Remko took cover as best they could. Thankfully, the target was only on the metal armed criminal.
A long metal rod pierced out of the shield like formation. Remko ran forward only for the fighter droid to kick the shield. "So these things can fight, huh?"
A robotic fist came back next, the sound of metal rang loud.
Li tried to enter the fight, going for a sneak attack. Sadly for him, the tail whacked him into the wall.
"Ugh."
Back with Remko, his spiked shield that was his metallic arm was pushed back up against the wall, until the metallic robot fists began to pummel him closer into the wall.
Yet, he was still able to slip out thanks to his arm. Rolling on the ground, the criminal was faced with the giant robot, arm pointing right at the machine. He fired.
It was small yet powerful blasts of the metallic material of his arm, but the machine kept marching slowly forward. "Seriously, what's this thing made of?!"
When the machine stopped, the sound of something starting up...something that sounded like thrusters!
The Styx Droid came flying forward with extra speed as its open hand caught the jailbreaker, tossing him into the ceiling as soon as contact was made. For extra measures, the tail spiked him into the ceiling harder.
By the time he fell to the floor, Remko's arm cushioned the fall. "I think I know why they don't send these robots into the wards now..."
Standing up once more, he was prepared for whatever the robot was going to try next as quickly as he could.
"Rescanning Target. Target identified. Switching to counter measures." the droid suddenly opened its hand, as if it was waiting for something to happen. It definitely wasn't telling the inmates to stop.
Remko suddenly felt his metallic arm being pulled towards the machine as it held out its hand. No matter how hard he tried to pull his arm away, the arm kept going to the droid's left hand. He couldn't even shift or mould his arm!
"Wait...is that...a magnet!"
The robotic hand of the large, towering blocky robot grabbed hold of the metallic armed convict.
Remko did his best to squirm out of the tightening hold to no avail. "Damn magnet."
"Target captured. Resistance. Proceeding with the neutralizing procedure."
"Wha-" The silver haired man was slammed down into the wall. The droid pulled back and off it went again, slamming him into the wall once again.
Suddenly jumping onto the robot's hand, Li with his enhanced strength managed to pry open the hand just enough to give the escape artist some breathing room. A flick from the other hand sent Kagayami to the floor.
A followed up stomp failed thanks to Li's lucky reaction.
"Damn it. Neither Touya or I can deal with this." thought the conman as his scarred face watched the battle unfold as Touya fixed up his shades after rubbing his eyes.
"Quickly, to the door." the oldest of the four currently-in-escape inmates headed for the door. An act that caught the droid's attention.
The droid's hand shot out with a metal cable, the robotic fist punched the wall right as the neon skinned Li got back up on the fist, trying his hardest to pry the hand open. If only Remko had enough space to use his quirk...
Thankfully for him, it was enough as the arm managed to shoot up, free from the magnetic force that had suddenly powered down upon his capture. When the Styx droid's hand retracted with the fired cable, the tail slapped and wrapped around Li as tight as it could while Remko's silver arm did its best to fight off the droid.
Suddenly a hammer flew through the air. It did catch the robot's attention for a nanosecond.
It was the only thing Zuko could transport as Li grabbed a hold of it with his free arm, now trying to pry himself free.
Both of them had little expectations on its purpose in the great scheme of things.
The droid held the leader of this little brigade and flicked him right in the face three different times. Only after the third did it drop the poor bastard. This gave ample time for it to slam Li around with its tail.
Dropping the now useless hammer, Li was spiked into the concrete by the robot's tail.
Only during the spike did it let Li go.
"Remko Akko: Neutralized. Li Kagayami: Neutralized." the drone's robotic tone revved, turning its red lens onto the other two. "Proceeding with recapture."
As it stomped forward, it suddenly stopped in its tracks. Well, it moved, but made no progress. A metallic arm held onto the droid's tail. A grip was constantly weakening.
Turning on its heels or rather the top half turning around only a little, the tip of the robot's tail raised like a snake as a spark flashed briefly. It lunged, much like a snake, only for the youngest and muscular Li to step in the way.
A spark of electricity fired from the tip of the droid's tail, shocking Li like a taser. A direct hit!
Li fell to the ground as the robot's arm began to move. Remko's grip remained...tighter than before.
Li's shock gave him a brief moment to gather his remaining strength to mould his arm. It gave him an opening!
Moulding his hand into something larger, converting the matter of his right arm to increase his hand, Remko Akko gripped a hold of the droid's tail and swung it into the wall.
The impact was hard and loud, enough to cause the wall to chip and crack.
With his enlarged hand, Remko slammed his hand down on the body of the enhanced machinery, doing little to actually dent the thing, but he sent it onto it's back at the very least.
"Oi, you alright Li?" the leader panted out. He wasn't expecting a robot to put up one hell of a fight.
The neon blonde couldn't even shake his head as he stared up at the ceiling as a camera watched them.
Taking a quick break, Touya had readjusted and Li was slowly yet surely, getting to his feet despite how winded and hurt he was from the shock.
He was like a limping beast out in the wild.
"Li-" Remko wasn't even heard as the familiar sound of machinery caught their ears. The droid was getting up. "Fucking hell, how durable are these things?!" he panted out.
"If it's at prison like Styx, surely it must be durable."
If these things were solely kept out of the wards...Remko had a gut dropping feeling of what would happen if these things were sent into a ward during a riot.
It wouldn't look so good.
As the bipedal machine stood back up, it pointed its arm at the running convicts. "Oh shit! Look behind it!" Li shouted out and Zuko narrowed his eyes...only to see more grey bipedal drones march at them.
"We better get out of here quickly," huffed Zuko as Remko's small shield took the brunt of the rain of bullets.
The feminine faced Remko swung his arm after the firing stopped. "And here I thought one was tough enough." He could barely fight one even with assistance.
"The shutters are opening, they have us surrounded." The legs of more droids made themselves known as the shutters raised. Caught on both sides, they only had one point of escape left.
Taking over, Touya led the charge as he managed to flung the door wide open. "Remember gents, close your nose if you can't handle it."
As they quickly piled into the room, a large robotic hand smashed its way in, preventing Remko from doing his old trick. "What the fuck!" he cursed as a beam of light shined into the room.
"If you don't want to be fried alive, come down here."
As Touya jumped down, the other three had no choice as they followed. The droid closed its fist as a series of beeps and boops accompanied the flashing lights as it went back to its post.
As the team continued further, it was time to proceed to the second phase of the escape. Touya could only smile as they continued onward. "How dangerous."
Another riot had erupted within the male ward of Styx. The cause of the riot was a black haired vampire going by the name of Rin.
Inmates fighting inmates as Rin sank his fangs into yet another walking blood bag. All he could really think of when he did was, "I can't wait for all that blood after the day's done!"
Little did the vampire know, his pay would never come.
Dropping yet another inmate, Rin stared at the chaos that unfolded within the ward. "Reminds of those fights! I'll get so much blood if I get to fight there again!"
So suddenly, he charged. Right into the fray where the most bloodshed would occur! When he arrived he headbutted one of the inmates like a goddamn missile before turning around to kick another. All the while he had that big smile on his face.
So he kept fighting, kicking. It was too much fun right now. All for that wonderful reward.
However, as Rin was having all his fun with all the other blood bags, another figure stayed away from the chaos. Hand outstretched as his fingers moved, causing more inmates to get hit when they feasibly shouldn't.
"Damn it, Rin!" thought one Reiji Maeda as he moved one of the inmates to the best of his abilities with his quirk. "What have you done?"
No matter what Reiji did to quell the riot with his quirk, no matter the number of fallen inmates, the riot just continued.
He was going to be dragged into this eventually, he knew that. He just didn't like what was happening but...his efforts barely scratched the surface.
"..." Lowering his hand, the inmate turned for the hills. He couldn't do anything in this situation right now...if only he had noticed sooner. Maybe he could have done something, but for now, this was a job for the guards.
...
Just as the action was getting good, a voice made itself known to those close enough to hear it.
"Spread out and thin the herd!" The command was issued as guards divided and split up.
The guards had arrived!
Seimei watched as the guards effortlessly took out the large number of inmates, right as he turned around to face another direction. "...I hope it's going well." It was risky, but he had faith. "Let's clean up here. I've been wanting to get out of the office for a while."
With a sudden swing of his bokken, a prisoner that tried to jump him fell to the floor. It was time for him to join in for now as he saw some convicts backpedal the best they could out of there.
Some of the more braver souls didn't really stand a chance.
...
Elsewhere within the riot, many inmates who started fighting each other were now attacked by multiple guards.
"Shit! The guards!" some cried out.
Two of the guards that attacked were the blindfolded Mizaru and the lower-half masked Iwazaru.
"Stand down, inmates." Mizaru called out, holding a wooden sword similar to what the warden had and acted as a cane at times. "If you stand down, you won't be harmed."
Battle cries were the quickest response.
It was never that easy.
One of the inmates rushed the blind guard, only to receive a strong thrust from the wooden sword into their neck, sending the flying back as his brother Iwazaru threw another inmate into another.
"We warned you," sighed Mizaru. "It's never easy, is it Iwa?"
Without a word, Iwa grabbed an inmate's hand, threw him over his shoulder and into the ground with a loud slam. That sounded like it hurt.
Swinging his weapon, Mizaru blasted away a wave of inmates. It was like cutting grass more or less.
"We got some bigger fish to fry right now," thought the blindfolded guard. "I have no idea how much blood Rin drunk in the chaos."
Right now, the real threat of the riot would need to be taken out. Rin needed to be stopped before he could drink more blood and boost himself further. The one downside to all these inmates was the sheer volume of them partaking in the riot.
Letting out a sigh, Mizaru caught Iwa's attention.
It was time to activate his quirk.
Blink: When Mizaru's quirk is activated, anyone around him that blinks cannot open their eyes! Close your eyes for just a second and that's it! You can't open them.
Mizaru's quirk really came in handy when it came to those with eye-related quirks, though the weakness of his quirk was obvious. They had to blink.
Thankfully for him though, it always worked.
"Wha? I can't open my eyes!"
"Huh?"
One inmate who blinked was surrounded in total darkness. Many stumbled around just like him, the first inmate to blink. Thinking he caught the bastard, he threw a punch. Only to get one back in the face.
The inmates were back to just fighting each other or stumbling around, trying to open their eyes.
This left them wide open as Mizaru whacked each one down to the ground.
"Get Rin, Iwa!" As the blind guard shouted out, the mute guard rushed towards the red eyed vampire.
One inmate who saw Iwazaru coming, shouted out: "AHDJSNUSBWGE!" as he shouted, he looked confused, causing another inmate to ask.
"TUHASDHINSQOI?" the second inmate suddenly grasped their throat with an equally confused look.
During their confusion, Iwazaru struck! Slamming both inmate's faces into each other as he continued on.
"YJIHOFHISDHOISHEI?!" the inmate fell to the ground in pain.
This was simply Iwazaru's quirk.
Gibberish: When activated, Iwazaru's quirk causes all those around him to speak gibberish! What the hell are they saying?
"SHGSIWSNDPOMNHSHBZ!" The failure of a warning did nothing as Iwazaru picked up the inmate and spun him around, letting him fly into a larger group of them.
Now he had a clear shot at the cause of it all.
Though, it had seemed that Rin had also spotted him as well as soon as he got close. The straitjacket wearing inmate lunged forward. "GHAIWHSG!" he had no idea what he said nor did he care for what he said. "GHSUSHOQPJSH!"
Jumping over Rin's attempt, Iwazaru landed a swift kick to the man's back, sending them slamming into the ground.
That didn't stop Yonaga from getting back on his feet, trying to break free of the surprisingly tough anti-quirk straitjacket. "OEUEUAOADHOABD!" giving up, he quickly rushed back, fangs open.
The mute Iwa however, treated him like a matador. Spinning around and grabbing his neck, Rin's face ate the ground seconds later.
The vampire was pinned to the ground as other walking sources of blood bags began to run away. Licking his lips, Rin pushed himself onto his feet, even with the pinning guard holding him down.
"AHDNWOSNSHPIJS!"
As Iwa grabbed a leg, Rin was squashed once more with the loss of balance. Yet, each time he got up.
Rin kept getting up and up each time, the blood in his system keeping him going. All he could see was sources of delicious blood, but the most tempting one was before him. The guard Iwazaru Sarugaku.
In response to the more feral behaviour, Iwa just gave him the middle finger.
He'll knock the vampire out eventually.
After managing to catch a breather, Li had turned his gaze onto the metal armed, androgynous inmate. "So...about that arm..."
"This shitty... thing?" Akko raised the silver arm into the air as he panted like Li. "What about... it?"
"You said earlier that it was... forced onto you. What did you mean by that?"
As the two most damaged inmates of the group took a second to catch their breath, Remko leaned forward with a grunt and a cough.
Shaking his silver hair, the brown and silver eyed inmate sighed. "It's my quirk, but some bastard made it like this. Needles, liquid and screaming. That's all I really remember, can't even remember what happened before that except what I was told. I have no idea what my quirk would be if they didn't do this shit."
Wandering through the back alleys of some run down street in Japan, was a small child. This child wouldn't remember much of this time as they, the dirty child, rummaged through a trash can like some feral beast.
He wasn't the only one like this though, but as he rummaged around the trash can, he managed to pull out some old, mostly eaten food. Managed to ease his hunger for now, this tiny child was called: Remko Akko.
"Thank you for the food..." he mumbled to no one as he continued to wander the streets alone, many people passed right on by. Some ignored him out right, some gave him distasteful looks (presumably thinking about his parents) and others pitying looks for the lost child.
No one reached out, no one stopped.
Days went by, days of digging through the trash for something that he could simply eat.
"Ugh. Didn't that kid's parents teach them proper manners?! What the hell are their parents even doing?!" a couple had walked past with one of them giving the androgynous child an nasty look.
Remko never noticed.
He was too used to it at this stage.
His eyes caught something though as his right arm that lacked the silverish metal grabbed onto some barely empty water bottle at some local park.
A family walked by in the park with their pet dog. Smiling, laughing. They went on by, without even noticing the child.
"..." He watched as the family walked on by as he hid in the bushes of a park. "I wonder what that's like..."
He never knew his parents all that well. He was a bastard child, never knew his father and barely remembered his mother. When he tried to picture his mother, a warm silhouette was all he had before it was replaced with the dark empty streets he was in.
Then, when he needed her most, he appeared.
Curled up into a small ball as the snow began to fall, the poor bastard child shivered as a shadow formed over top of him.
"Isn't it cold? Come here, I'll give you a hand." the shadow of a man loomed overhead, extending their claw-like hand. Remko could smell something warm, like food. He had nothing to lose...so he reached out.
As he grabbed the man's hand, it would be something that he would come to regret.
Soon strapped to a metal table for hours as needles filled with strange liquid the man called, 'quirk enhancing medicine'. Day in and day out, he was fed scraps. Worse than what he found on the streets. Heard screams from others that were subjected to the same experiments.
He kicked and screamed as the man dragged him to the table when it was his turn. Strapping him down as he pulled out the familiar liquid-filled needle. "It's time for your medicine, Remko."
"No! Please! I can be-"
He was suddenly struck as the quirk enhancing medicine was injected into his body again and again. As the days passed the man got angrier and angrier. Lashing out more as Remko saw one of the other kids fall down to the floor...they didn't wake up.
This was his childhood now.
The worst part about it was: he had no idea if the childhood before his life of experiments was really true. He remembered nothing of the days before he was taken in, just the story that needle man told him.
The only thing he knew was his name, meeting the man that took him in off the streets and the countless experiments done to his body.
That was it.
"Your mother abandoned you to the streets," the man holding a needle spat. "If it wasn't for me, you'd be dead by now. You were abandoned. No one cares if you went missing."
The countless days he was strapped to the cold, metal table. The countless days syringes and needles were jabbed into him. The screaming from his own lungs and those were also taken off the streets much like him.
Constantly told the same thing, again and again and again.
It was all he ever knew.
As the days passed, it made him question the truth. What was real? Who was he?
What was the truth? Did he live with his mother and was abducted from the streets one day? Or was he really abandoned, forced to fend for himself. Was Remko Akko his real name?
He had nothing else to go off. No one else to confirm his thoughts. The angry man cursed his medicine as he tried to figure things out. That was until one day.
During an experiment, Remko's right arm...began to change. From some rather soft skin, the arm became silver in colour as well as metallic over the coming days.
"It worked! Finally!"
Remko would come to one day learn the older he got was that this one man was just one of many who tried to create some kind of drug meant to boost or change quirks. Some being far more effective in how they worked, sold and many other factors.
Like a drug he would encounter on the black market called Boost that put this man to shame. Remko couldn't remember what happened next to the man afterwards, he had no idea if he killed him or not as soon as he was released from the table and back into the world. It felt like it. Did he? Probably not. He would have felt something then, right?
He was older now and just assumed that the man who changed his arm was either dead via some method or person such as a stronger competitor or that they lied low as other more powerful figures ruled the quirk boosting world.
Whether that man was alive or dead...
It didn't matter to him now.
Remko now wore a pair of baggy, military camo pants, half boots and a white sleeveless shirt. His silver hand has crushed a man's face. As much as he disliked what his quirk had become to an extent, it was easy to use for what he did.
You wanted someone dead? He'd do it. Just like what he did now. Whether it was some illegal job or something he did for himself, Remko did it. However, no matter what crimes he did. No matter who he killed, what he stole. One crime loomed over the others. Something that gave him a reputation.
"You're under arrest, Remko."
When Remko turned, he saw a masked hero accompanied by two different police officers, both pointing their guns at him.
The silver armed inmate raised his arm, but the hero struck faster. Sending the silver armed man into the wall, right over the body of the man he killed.
"Tch. You know those measly prisons won't hold me!" there was no real resistance in Remko's actions. Mostly due to what he did with said prisons.
Remko Akko...escaped every prison he was sent too. Bagu, Shian, Kuin. These were just three out of four prisons he had successfully managed to break out of, whether through careful planning or brute force. Sometimes both.
While his name didn't spread far, tales of the prison break magician surfaced once more. This time to his name.
A villain that escaped multiple times from different jails wasn't something that eased the hearts of the people.
For Remko right now, he had just escaped his fourth.
He had managed to go two months on the run, but he was ultimately caught and once again going back to prison. Again.
The heterochromia-eyed escaped inmate didn't panic as he was brought to the police wagon, he didn't panic as he was brought to jail to be transported to the new one. He'd just break out again.
He was shocked by the appearance of a man named Sagimaru. It was an out of the blue appearance. That took him by surprise, then one of the guards from the old prison he was at escorted him, ready to ship him off to the new jail. The conversation with Sagimaru was short that day. He was curious about their chance meeting, he still had no idea what to expect before he was already on his way to his destination.
"Welcome to your new forever home, Remko. Welcome to Styx."
Remko's eyes shot open. Orbs of brown and silver turned and locked onto the prison. He was shocked when Sagimaru told him, but now that he was here in the flesh, he didn't know what to do.
Panic filled his entire body. Styx was known as one of the best in the world, one of the Underworld Prisons that opened up its gates to accept many more types of convicts and criminals, causing some others to do the same to some degree. Well, Remko didn't know that for sure. They certainly accepted more than Tartarus at least.
Tartarus kept to only the worst of the worst and yet Styx was open to all sorts. Other prisons in the same system had either the former or the latter's range in what they accepted.
It differed from prison to prison on who would accept what.
That was neither here or there though. Remko was faced with a hurdle. A massive one.
High security, strong guards that can use their quirk if you even cough oddly at them and a location that isolated itself making it hard to run away.
Remko...wasn't sure what to expect. He wanted to break out as soon as possible, but...could he? He was already getting closer and closer to the maul of Styx.
Shaking his head, the feminine faced man stood. "There's nothing else to say, we better get a move on. We wasted enough time as it is. Another minute and we're out of here."
"Right. We barely evaded those droids, the guards will be coming next for us." Zuko coughed into his hand, his cloudy eyes looking around the sewer. "I'm more surprised at how clean it is. It's odd."
"I think that's because we're not really in the sewer part yet. More like a connection between the two." Touya offered his thoughts as he fixed up his sunglasses. "Now, it's a matter of finding the exit."
Remko shook his head as Li still needed some time. "There might still be traps in here. Oi Li, can you walk?"
"Yeah...just give me a minute."
Turning away, only one thing lingered in Remko's mind. "So this is the farthest you can go." The brown and silver eyed inmate gave Touya a look next. "And as he said before, something feels odd about this."
Giving Li a final look, Remko huffed, "Touya, give Li a hand until he can walk on his own two feet." Remko couldn't really talk about Li's condition, he was feeling it too.
"I'll be fine." the inmate with visible veins grunted. "I enhanced my own body with my own drugs. The impact of the shock took me off guard, I'll be fine in a bit."
"So that's why you're like that?" mumbled Zuko as the muscular Li was helped up.
The bright blonde Touya (which might as well be yellow due to its colouration) gave the two fighters a look. "That robot put them both through the ringer, yet they're still able to keep going...for now..." as he turned away, a sly smirk appeared on his face. "If we're attacked right now, it would be the end of this little detour."
Silently, he whispered. "This escape is proving more dangerous than I expected."
It's why he joined after all.
"Come on, hurry up and let's move."
And so the group moved deeper and deeper into the sewers.
...
As the group progressed through the sewers, Touya held up his hand, stopping them all from moving. "Someone's here."
When they looked down the sewer tunnel, a figure stood in front of their only chance of escape.
"What? What's he doing here?" Yamamoto's eyes widened as the figure before them held onto small rectangular card-like objects.
"That's one of the other inmates here, isn't it?" Li asked, noticing the same uniform on the man who stood in their way.
"...Johnny."
Standing in their way was Johnny Spade.
"Trying to break out of prison? I should have expected as much from someone who broke out of other prisons before." he raised the cards in his hands up, like daggers.
"How did you even get here?" the black haired smooth talker asked, but Remko put a hand on his shoulder.
"It doesn't matter. If you're escaping too, join us-"
"Join you? I'm not a criminal like you."
The smooth talker shook his head. "You're just like us, aren't you not? We're all prisoners in the end. You're a villain too."
"...that might be true. I am a criminal in the eyes of the law, but I can't deny who I am." the American stepped forward. "I'm a vigilante! That makes you my enemies!"
Raising the objects that looked like playing cards, Johnny was prepared to fight.
"Oh. I see how it is." Remko lifted his silver arm. Compared to a robot, a human wouldn't be that much trouble. "Get in our way, you'll regret it."
"It doesn't matter. He's a vigilante, a hero. We just have to stomp him here and now," huffed Li, pushing Remko aside. A vigilante was kinda like a hero. Just an illegal one. It had been a while since he had killed a hero.
This would be a nice warm up before he got back out there.
As the three stood against Johnny with a wide amount of space between them. Touya sat back, legs crossed in the most comfortable position he could get into. He had a theory, of course he did. For now, he'd watch how things played out.
A fight was going to happen! A nice spectacle!
"Let's see what happens next."
