Shi walked into the office to see Dojima sitting at his desk with his head in his hands. She walked over and put the bottle of water down, harder than was necessary. He looked up, his eyes red. She held out the painkillers to him.

"You're lucky I decided against throwing these at you." She said as he took them.

"Look, Shi-san. I'm sorry if I said anything that…." He began.

"You know there is nothing you can say that I haven't already heard. What annoyed me more was that you let Nanako see you like that. Or do you not remember that?" She asked.

"Actually the last thing I remember is having a go at you for dating that fool." He countered, nodding toward Adachi who was at his desk. Both he and Shi stiffened before Shi frowned.

"Who I choose to date is not your concern." She said before turning away to leave. As she got to the door, she paused and looked back. "Take two of those every 4 hours and you should feel better." She said before disappearing back to her lab. Dojima chuckled softly.

She walked into her office and began to type up her reports for her latest patients. This managed to fill most of her morning but by lunchtime there was nothing left for her to do. Her attendant had already cleaned the autopsy suite, her work was all done and no one new had come in. So, as she had done before, she brought out the files for the murder victims and kidnappings. She was standing, looking at the x rays of the reporter when she felt arms encircle her waist.

"Aren't you supposed to be working on reports?" She asked Adachi without even turning her head.

"I have my lunch break. Care to join me?" He asked, his face buried at her neck.

"Now, are you actually inviting me to lunch or wanting something else?"

"Let's see how it plays out." She rolled her eyes at his response, sighing as his hair brushed against her cheek. She shivered as his lips ghosted over her skin.

"You can put that thought to the back of your mind right now. I will, however join you for lunch." She said. "Let's go." She said, leading him out of the morgue. The two of them headed over to Junes. They sat, eating and having fun. She knew people were talking about her, but she didn't care.

Even as she walked with him around the store, his fingers lacing with hers, she ignored the stares. As they moved to the exit, she went to move away.

"Come on. You better get back to work." She said softly. She bit back a laugh at his pout, not noticing his grip beginning to tighten.

"What? You mean I spent some of my free time helping you and I don't even get a kiss?" He asked her.

"Because you would never settle for just a kiss. We can have fun later. But we need to go." She went to move again but he stood fast, his grip growing vice-like.

"Oh? So that flirting before was just an act?" He asked. She glanced at their hands.

"What flirting? Let go." She said.

"You're just like the rest of them aren't you?" He snarled, his grip crushing her hand. She grimaced as she felt the small bones of her hand grind together.

"Let go. You're hurting me." She said firmly, trying to pull away. She regretted it instantly as he grabbed her injured shoulder.

"No way. We're just talking. Are you like them? Those bitches and whores who lie and…." He trailed off, squeezing her shoulder and staring at her.

"What are you talking about?" She gasped, pain eating through her nerves.

"Tawakemono-sensei?" Adachi backed off as Yu rounded the corner, looking at them. "Are you OK?" He asked, concern clear.

"Yes Yu. I am fine. But, maybe you could help me carry these bags back? That way detective Adachi can return to his duties." She said. Yu nodded and grabbed some of her bags before following her out the store. She didn't look back at Adachi.

As they walked, Yu told her about why he had moved to Inaba and how things were going. She listened half heartedly, her mind elsewhere. "What about you Tawakemono-sensei?" He asked suddenly.

"Me? Oh, I have always lived in Inaba, with the exception of going to University. But, most of my teenage years, I lived with my grandparents." She replied.

"Why?" He asked, making her stop and stare.

"Wait, you don't know?" She responded. She paused before sighing. "Remember how my shadow said I was tired of living in the shadow of my parents? It said that because my parents were serial killers. And everyone in this town loves reminding me of it." She explained. She saw him staring at her in surprise. "Shocking isn't it?" She asked him.

"Is that why you are a pathologist?" He asked her.

"Yes and no. It mainly came from my grandfather. He was the pathologist before me and he would bring me into work." She explained. "Part of it, I suppose is also due to me wanting to prove I am not like them." She added.

"I know you're not like them." Yu said suddenly, making her freeze in place. She spun around to face him. "You are doing everything you can to find the culprit behind these murders and kidnappings. You are fighting for justice. If that doesn't prove you are nothing like them, then nothing will." He continued. She stared at him momentarily, unable to believe it. She shook her head and let out a soft laugh.

"You really are something Yu-kun." Shi laughed. She turned and led him back to her home, letting him in. As she placed the bags on her counter, he looked around. He paused as he spotted something in the corner.

"You play the guitar Tawakemono-sensei?" He asked softly. Shi looked over.

"Yes, I do. I haven't played for a while though." She explained. "My dad taught me." She added softly. She picked it up. "I haven't actually touched it for ages. I guess I will have to play for you all sometime." She said. He nodded happily before getting to his feet to leave. She waved him off before going to her shopping.

Later on, she paused as she heard her doorbell. She stood and opened the door, only to find a bag held in front of her. Adachi peeked out from behind it.

"I am sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you." He said softly. She said nothing, standing with her arms folded across her chest. He shifted slightly from foot to foot.

"I got us some steak skewers. I was gonna get you flowers but I didn't know what kind you liked…."

"I'm allergic to pollen." Shi interjected. He looked at her. "So it's a good thing you didn't." She added. She stood to one side. "Come on, before my neighbours see you." She said softly. He quickly stepped inside, turning to face her as she closed the door.

"Good thing I didn't get flowers." He said, laughing softly. He stopped when she didn't join in. "I guess I should explain huh?"

"I guess you should." She replied.

"I acted that way because the women I have been involved with in the past…..they lied to and cheated on me. I thought we had something special and they would prove me wrong. I had only just recently found out the last woman I liked had cheated before I met you. I overreacted." He explained. Shi didn't say anything, she just looked at him. "I should go." he trailed off eventually.

"You should have known." Shi suddenly said. He looked at her. "As my boyfriend, you should have known I was allergic to pollen." She explained.

"Wait….you mean you still want us to…."

"I am not going to break up with you because of some bad relationships you have had in the past. We have something Adachi. I don't know what it is but I don't want to lose it." She replied. "Besides, everyone has had bad relationships in the past. What kind of person would I be if I dumped you because of the past?" She asked him. She didn't get a response as he practically knocked her over as he embraced her. She embraced him back, smiling to herself. If she had been paying attention, she would have noticed the yellow eyes flickering on her tv.
