The main sources of inspiration, and the basis for this fic, are Spectacular Spiderman and X-Men Evolution. There will be some fudging with the exact cannon and some additional characters may factor in, Daredevil in particular because he's like my favorite marvel hero. As far as the timeline goes this story begins at the end of Spectacular and the beginning of Evolution, specifically between episodes 4 and 5 (Mutant Crush and Speed & Spyke respectively). The story will mostly follow pretty close to the evolution plotline but some spidey villains might show up from time to time.

In order to make this fic work I have to budge the timeline around a bit so it would make sense. So here's the timeline from Peter's perspective

Freshman year- normal life up until the spiderbite at the spring field trip to ESU. Ben dies in late March. Peter Becomes the Hero Spider-man and becomes active throughout the summer.

Sophomore year- the events of Spectacular Spider-Man play out as in the show, it's just sophomore year instead of junior year. Norman "dies" in mid April, right before spring break. Spidey's life continues as normal for a while.

Summer before Junior year- few supervillain attacks, mostly dealing with upstart crime syndicates. This is when he meets some of the other New York heroes that'll make an appearance later. (might make a prequal fic at some point in the future around this time.)

A few weeks into junior year- the story starts.

The reason I'm changing this is because I realized that I had Peter's spring break immediately followed by an arc that takes place in winter in the previous version of this story, which is a lot of time to just kind of ignore. So yeah now Peter is entering Bayville at the start of 11th grade.

Waking up on a Saturday morning Peter wished he could say that things were looking up for him. After the Green Goblin fell, supervillain attacks dropped off by a lot. Other than that scorpion guy there's been no new crazed criminals in animal themed costumes out for his radioactive spider blood. Things should be looking up for him, god if that wasn't the mantra for his whole life.

Sure there was the occasional break out from one of his rogues gallery, either from prison or ravencroft. But other than that things were pretty tame on that front.

There were some attempts by other parties to take over as the bigman of crime. But pretty much every attempt had gone up in smoke.

With Goblin gone, Octavius in Ravencroft, Silvermane old and infirm, and Tombstone under investigation no other top players were in the picture. No other contenders had the same gravitas as those that came before them. The criminal underworld had become an unregulated chaotic mess.

Big crimes like professional bank heists, hard drug trafficking, and illegal experimentation to create supervillains bent on 'squashing the spider' all went down. Hijackings, store robberies, and good old fashioned muggings all became a lot more common.

It would have been a little overwhelming, by sheer quantity if nothing else. But over the summer a bunch of heroes came out of the woodwork looking to help out around the city. And unlike Colonel Jupiter these guys seemed to be sane.

Well as sane as people who dress up in colorful costumes to beat up violent criminals could be.

Now if only he could get away from the searing guilt from how the Goblin fell . Sure no-one really blamed Spider-man for it, aside from the bugle and one Osborn heir, but that didn't really stop him from waking up in a cold sweat to the imagined sound of explosions and screams.

Spider-man was a lot of things, murderer was not one of them, at least thats what he kept telling himself.

Compound this with the fact that the true identity of the Goblin was his best friend's father… yeah Peter hasn't felt this guilty since the night his Uncle Ben died. Poor Harry, Gwen was the only thing keeping him together at this point.

Gwen… that was the other thing that caused this depressive spiral. The two of them had talked, what was it? 5 months ago now. Before everything with the Goblin went down, about each other, their feelings, how much they liked each other.

They agreed that Gwen would break up Harry and Peter with Liz so that they, her and Peter, could finally be together.

But after Norman's death… Neither of them were cruel enough to do something like that to Harry, no matter how much they wanted to be together. He was already just barely staving off the green, having his girlfriend break up with him just to be with his best friend. Yeah that wouldn't end well

He thought it would be a few months, maybe until summer started for Gwen to be able to break it off without sending Harry into a depressive, self-destructive spiral.

But Harry just kept rubber banding. Every time they thought he might be stable enough to handle it he would go into a half crazed delirious state that only ended if Gwen stepped in to comfort him.

Which led Peter's train of thought directly into the last time he and his best friend spoke to one another. It wasn't pretty.

It was a few weeks after Norman's funeral. Harry, Gwen, and Peter were all at Harry's, just hanging out, trying to be there for him.

The two boys got into a huge fight about Peter taking pictures of Spider-Man, you can probably guess who started that fight.

Harry called Peter a shameless sellout who would do anything for a quick buck. Peter retorted that not everyone had daddy's inheritance money.

He regretted the words as soon as they came out of his mouth. But before he could apologize Harry tried to punch him. He missed but Gwen had to physically restrain the Osborn heir and told Peter to just leave.

That was one of the worst swings home of his life.

Harry still refused to speak with him, which had the added effect of making it incredibly awkward for him and Gwen to do anything together. Of course Gwen had to side with Harry, the teenage heir was too fragile at this point to handle anything else.

He was pretty sure that any chance of Gwen breaking up with Harry anytime before high school died that day.

Peter was just glad it was the weekend, he didn't think he could handle seeing anyone from school right now. He looked over at the clock, 9:57.

Alright then time to get up. Peter got dressed, went to the bathroom and splashed some water on his face. On a whim he grabbed his updated web shooters and hid them under his shirt. Updated in that they had a folding palm trigger so he could wear them at all times without anyone questioning why he had a metal prong coming out of his sleeves. After a minute he was walking down the steps.

"G'morning Aunt May, what's cooking?" the brunet said as he came into the kitchen, only to stop short as he saw his Aunt talking with a woman he didn't recognize. "Oh sorry I didn't know we had company"

"Oh Peter good you're up, this is Ms. Raven Darkholme, she's the principal of a prestigious school upstate and she came all the way here to meet you" said his Aunt.

She had dark eyes, brown hair, angular features, and was wearing a gray business dress. For all intents and purposes she seemed harmless, but when she turned to look at Peter his spider-sense shot through him.

Danger-Hidden-Don'tTrust.

It set him on edge immediately but he couldn't do anything about it, not with his Aunt right there and not while in his Peter Parker persona. Instead he just awkwardly said "R-really, is that so?"

"Yes indeed Mr. Parker, we at Bayville High are always looking out for the best and brightest minds to add to our wonderful community, and I believe you would fit in most wonderfully" the woman made her pitch, sweet as sugar and poisoned honey. Spider-sense still dulling ringing in the back of his skull.

"Well thank you for the offer Ms. Darkholme but I don't really think I'm in a position to change schools right now." he said with as curt a tone as possible. I see right through you and I want you out of my house.

"Peter, don't be rude! Forgive him Ms. Darkholme he's just not a morning person." said his sweet innocent Aunt May.

"Oh it's quite alright Mrs. Parker, why don't you give us some privacy so I can try to convince young Peter to give our school a chance." Said the mysterious woman invading his kitchen.

Peter opened his mouth to say something along the lines of 'no way in hell lady' but his Aunt May spoke first "oh that's a wonderful Idea, I'll be in the living room if you need anything." She got up and did just that, leaving Peter alone with the mystery woman.

"So where shall we begin Mr. Parker?" she leaned forward with her elbows on the table, chin resting on her hands. Peter got the sense that this whole thing was going to become a game of cat and mouse.

"Look ma'am I understand that you came a long way just for me but like I said I'm happy where I am and I don't see that changing anytime soon." he may be stretching the definition of 'happy' in this case, but whatever this lady wanted from him was not something he wanted to get involved with.

"Oh but Mr. Parker, you haven't even heard my sales pitch, we at Bayville have some of the most state of the art facilities that can put even private schools to shame. You're Aunt certainly seemed " said the woman who was starting to remind Peter of a snake in some way.

"I'm sure you do but I have some pretty good ins of my own in the fields I'm most interested in, I'm already interned with Dr. Warren at ESU." Maybe it wasn't the happiest internship right now and Warren gave him the heebie-jeebies but this lady didn't need to know about that. Besides he got the same heebie-jeebies from her so it wouldn't exactly be an upgrade.

"An impressive connection no doubt, but I doubt that such a thing can pay for your future college tuition. Bayville has some of the best scholarship programs available to its students, provided they show themselves worthy of such accolades." she pushed.

Peter wasn't going to lie, that was the most convincing argument so far. Heck with his and May's financial situation he wasn't sure he was even going to college. It would've been tempting, if not for the fact that the offer was coming from what his spider-sense seemed to think was the devil in disguise.

Besides, even if his instincts weren't completely against going anywhere with this woman he still wouldn't have gone, not with his responsibilities both as Spider-Man and Peter Parker.

"I'm sorry but like I said, I have too many things I care about here. I don't think I'll be going anywhere anytime soon." Just Leave already.

"We also have one of the most robust rosters of after school clubs and sports, many of which I'm sure you would be eager to join." the snake lady continued.

Peter let out a huff "Look lady I don't know what-"

She cut him off.

"There's the Photography club just to name an example. I've seen the photos you have taken for the Bugle, very impressive." her voice dropped, both in octave and in volume. "I wonder, how do you manage to get such precise pictures, If I didn't know any better I would think that you were actually him"

Peters felt his blood run cold as her words washed over him. It wasn't just what she said but how she said it, the narrowed eyes crinkling at the corners, the slight smirk, the way she leaned in physically just as she leaned into those last few words. She knew his secret.

She knew his secret.

"W-well you know i-its really not that d-dificult to get pics like that, you just gotta know which buildings have the best angles from the top floors" he tried to play it off like he didn't know what she was implying, hoping that she would think she was mistaken. That she would back down.

"Is that so? Remarkable that you can get up and down those New York skyscrapers so fast." the woman responded easily.

"I, uh, have surprisingly good cardio?" he wished it didn't come out sounding like a question.

"Oh I'm sure you do, Mr. Parker." the woman began "tell me do those little devices on your wrist just shoot the webs or do they also let you climb walls?" Once again the question was delivered so sweetly that if Peter ignored the words he could almost imagine this wasn't one of the scariest conversations of his life.

He didn't respond immediately, instead simply shoving his hands behind his back like he was just caught stealing the last cookie. He felt his palms to make sure the triggers were still folded. They were.

How did she know?

"Not that it really matters to me, after all those aren't the only things you can do is it? Enhanced strength, speed, agility, and durability, a healing factor, and last but not least that uncanny ability of yours to sense and react to danger, my boy you are simply the complete package" Darkholme stated with venomous glee.

Peter glanced at the living room to make sure his Aunt May couldn't hear this. Luckily she was watching the local news, completely oblivious to the life changing conversation going on in her kitchen. He dropped his hands back down to his sides and gave the woman sitting at his kitchen table a seething glare.

"What do you want?" he spat out.

"Oh Mr. Parker, I've already told you what I want: for you to come and attend my school." she said.

"Really, that's it?" said the spider with a narrowed gaze "forgive me if I don't believe you."

"Well there might be a few extra, shall we say caveats involved." her grin was all fangs.

"And what would those 'caveats' be?" he asked through clenched teeth.

"Oh nothing major, just your complete and utter loyalty to me and my… associates." she said.

At that moment he hated her. Hated her as much as he hated the man who killed Uncle Ben, how dare this woman, this monster come into his home right under his nose and completely and utterly wreck his entire life.

He can't do this, who would take care of Aunt May? Who would patrol the city? Who would be there to help Harry, and what about Gwen? Could he really leave her hanging like this after everything they've been through, after everything all three of them have been through?

"And what if I refuse" he spat out.

The woman had the gall to roll her eyes at him before she began to tap her chin with a finger, as if she didn't have him by the neck already.

"Well let me think for a moment, there's the secret Identity I can reveal, which will ruin your life, your aunts life, and put all the people you care about in danger." she listed on her fingers as if she was tallying the score.

"But if that's not enough for you" her eyes flashed a glowing yellow "I could simply kill her myself"

"NO!" he shouted, causing May to look back towards the kitchen. "Is everything alright in there" she asked, he could hear her start to get up from the couch.

"Yep everything is Fine Aunt May, Mrs. Darkholme was just telling me a story." he said quickly. Why was it easier to lie to his own aunt than to this dangerous stranger, he wondered to himself.

At this point May was already making her way back to the kitchen giving Darkholme just enough time to say "but it's up to you, of course."

Loud enough for May to hear without ever knowing what the true context was. "Well Peter, what do you think?" May asked as she entered the kitchen.

He didn't look at her at first, keeping his gaze locked on the woman in front of him, not trusting her to not immediately act on her threat just to prove a point. "Yes Peter, tell us what's your decision?" the she-devil asked.

He gave the so-called principle one last glare before plastering on the best smile he could muster and turning to his beloved Aunt. "Well I have to say, Principal Darkholme makes a convincing argument. so convincing that I…" he grimaced "can't help but say yes." he held his smile, just barely. Darkholme practically glowed as she basked in victory.

"That's a wise decision Mr. Parker, one that I'm sure you wont regret" the she-devil said to him. "I'll get the papers ready to be signed for your transfer."

"Oh good" May said "I'll have Peter ready to go by next Saturday, assuming that's alright?" she asked Darkholme.

The woman in question twitched, something that only Peter noticed. But she covered it quickly and said "I was hoping we could get young Peter settled in as quickly as possible, so he could get acclimated before the semester resumes" she explained.

"I appreciate your concern Ms. Darkholme but I think Peter would like some time to say goodbye to all his friends, let his job know he's going, get everything in order, you understand of course" said his sweet, wonderful, innocent Aunt May.

Darkholme narrowed her eyes minutely and Peter watched as her jaw clenched. Peter readied himself just in case he had to step in, identity be damned, moral responsibility be damned he'll kill this woman if she touches his Aunt May. Thankfully she brought that kindly mask back up. "If that's what you wish, so long as we get him to Bayville before Thanksgiving break it should be fine."

Darkholme and May exchanged a few more pleasantries before the Principle stated that she needed to be off. May insisted that Peter walk her out to her car, who agreed, the last thing he wanted was to cause a scene. Besides he wanted to keep her in his sights until she was well out of the house.

As she closed the door to her car the window rolled down revealing her cheshire grin, she said "I look forward to working with you, Spider-Man."

Peter just growled in response as she backed out of his driveway and drove down the street eventually turning down the corner, out of sight. Peter let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding, glanced down the street one last time as if to make sure the lady was truly gone, before he turned and walked back into his home.

He had a week to see his friends, a week to put as many things to bed as possible, a week to spend what could very well be his last moments with his beloved Aunt, a week to make the city as safe as possible while Spider-Man was gone.

Ok so a few housekeeping things.

As I said this is mainly based on the Spectacular and Evolution cannons but they aren't the only things, there's gonna be a lot of stuff from the comics in this fic so don't be surprised if some things aren't one to one. Specifically there are other heroes present in New York alongside Spider-man that he knows

I'm hoping to run the full gambit of Evolution seasons in this series of fics, not sure if i'll manage to do it, but reviews definitely help to inspire me.

I've never done this in a fic before but I'm actually gonna ask what pairings you all want for Peter, I've got a few Ideas which I'll list below but feel free to come up with other pairing ideas, and explain what you want with the relationship. I care more about interesting story ideas than the sheer number of people voting for a particular pair.

1. Peter x Anna Marie/Rogue (can start with this one fairly early but don't expect the actual relationship to get off the ground until the season 2 mark. Expect some angst over the no touching rule but will mainly focus on the two of them building each other up over time in a sweet and (if my writings up to snuff) fulfilling relationship. Also lots of spider-Rogue stuff, hey if your boyfriend's got spider powers and you can share them for a bit that's an awesome date.)

2. Peter x Kitty/Shadowcat(this can start fairly early too. If you've read the Ultimate comics expect a similar relationship to what was there. Textbook power couple. A lot of sweet fluffy interactions once the relationship starts around the season 2 mark as well.)

3. Peter x Wanda/Scarlet Witch (this won't start until the end of season 2 as she's introduced in the third to last episode. Expect Peter to act as an anchor for her while she helps him come to terms with some of the biggest sources of guilt in his life. Also a lot of magneto hunting, for healthy revenge therapy because fuck that guy.)

4. Peter x Laura/X23 (can't start until well into season three as that's when she's initially introduced. Will be almost a Beauty and the Beast romance in terms of the beats, Peter is the beauty and Laura is the beast btw. Lots of "here's how to be a human being" "well thats stupid, I'd rather just stab it"

5. Fuck it, make it a harem.

Like I said, feel free to make other suggestions. Thanks for reading!
