Summary: Set in my Vikings 'Verse. Erza is leading a raid on a monastery in which she encounters Saxon Monk Jellal.

Pairings: Erza/Jellal.

YouTube Prompt: An Erza/Jellal video to the song 'You Could Be Happy' by Snow Patrol. Because with Jellal on his quest of redemption and being a self-sacrificing idiot must be wondering whether or not Erza is happy with her friends and life.

Fairy Tail Vikings didn't have thralls, they were above that, but that didn't stop them from selling monks on the slave market. Double standard but they had to make some surplus money for all the rebuilding from their own destructive behaviour, and those pathetic monks kept looking down on their beliefs! There was only so much tolerance to condemnation one could have.

So when time came to line their pockets again (Gray and Natsu just had to destroy their meeting hall again) Erza led the raid to a Monastery in Saxony. It was close, not too far in land, and certainly very wealthy. She was certain that this would help her win leadership (she had crowed over the fact but Laxus had only replied with an eye roll like the annoying, patronising, bastard he is).

Gray and Natsu burst in eagerly which sent most of the monks screaming. It didn't take long for Freed to trick them into their boat, or Bickslow to terrify them to near death, while Natsu and Gray played who could destroy the most.

Erza ignored them as she stormed into what she was sure to be the treasury (all monasteries had one somewhere) only to find a young monk (he had the hair style and wore a robe) chained to the wall.

She blinked.

He blinked in return.

Only there was no confused curiosity, just a deadness in side. This monk was different, there was no doubt about it, monks rarely chain up their own, and then of course, his hair an odd colour, a strange vivid blue like Wendy's, and he had odd markings round his eye. A strange red pattern that looked like a tattoo but she had never known anyone to be brave enough to get a tattoo round their eye, let alone a monk.

"It's a birth mark."

She jumped a little when he spoke, she hadn't expected it and it surprised her (but don't tell the others), and then she shuddered for a different reason. He had a nice voice, very deep, but it sounded so dead.

"Is it?" she said trying to sound pleasant. As if she wasn't speaking to someone who was chained to a wall (she had to admit it was odd even for Fairy Tail). "It's very odd."

"Satan marks his servants."

She almost snorted at that. Satan? He was the cause for such beauty? But then she caught the slightest hint of sarcasm beneath the monotone and she had a feeling this man wasn't chained up just because some pathetic men think he was the root of evil….he was chained up because he had a mind of his own and he questioned things. She had to admit, she liked that in a man. "Do you really belief that?" she asked.

He arched an eyebrow at her. Definitely has a mind of his own. "Does it matter?"

"I think it does," Erza said softly, he wasn't encouraged to think. What a pity. "It's your body after all…" she trailed off as her cheeks heated up a little. What a beautiful body it was and she would bet all her treasure at home it was even more stunning without that drab monk's robe.

"Here it doesn't matter what I belief," the monk muttered, a bitterness had now entered his voice. "Just the Church. And God."

"Well I don't think it can be a work of evil," Erza said loudly. "It looks beautiful."

His eyebrows flew up at that and she blushed. She hadn't meant to say that bit out loud. She was Erza Scarlet, Tatiana the warrior, not some simpering milk maid that wanted romance. She wasn't Mira for Christ sake!

(Though in Mira's defence, she was an incredibly strong and infuriatingly difficult woman.)

"Thank you."

He smiled at her and then Erza decided to just screw it. She found him first and therefore she had the right to do whatever she wanted to him! He was hers now.

"I won't sell you," she declared passionately.

His smile became more amused at that. "Thank you," he said again.

"I'll marry you instead."

He then choked but had not time to protest as Erza took advantaged that he was chained up to capture his lips for her own. They were clumsy and inexperienced but he was a quick learner, and that just made her happier to know she was the first he would kiss, and she would then be the last.

She then happily yanked his chains down and used them to haul him over her shoulder, and as she struggled to get out, Natsu, Gray, Gajeel, and Freed all gawked at her while Bickslow burst out into insane laughter, Elfman shouted how manly she was, and Laxus merely raised an unimpressed eyebrow at her.

And that's how Erza ended up kidnapping her husband, like a traditional Viking man.
