Meanwhile, in somewhere underground, the monsters are relaxing, with some playing cards, and others talking.
"Go fish.", B.O.B. and Link were playing cards, but the look on Link's face showed he was already tired considering that he basically won every previous match.
"Got any threes?", He sighed to which B.O.B. waved the one he had. "Yeah! How did you know that? Can you like see through the cards or something?", Bob smiled widely.
"No, you keep telling him what you have in your hand when you forget what number it is you have.", Robert rolled his eyes as he remained seated while Dr. Cockroach was finishing hooking him up to something.
It had been almost a whole month since Susan and Robert were brought to the monster prison and while the two of them were somewhat adjusted to their quarters; thanks in part to their almost constant throws of passion that kept them from going half insane; the issue was that the two of them just couldn't fully get around to their predicament and were now starting to go a bit stir crazy.
Susan sighed heavily, "Robbie, are you sure you should do this again? Doc tested you out last week, and the week before that, and the week before that. I think this meteor energy is stuck with us for good.".
"Sue, let's face it, we need to get out of here, most of all, you. We can all see it, you're barely hanging on, love.", Robert reached out to grab her hand and give it a squeeze, "If we can shrink ourselves back down to a reasonable or even better, original heights, then they have to let us go.".
"I hate to point this out, Robert, but you sound kinda selfish right now.", Link pointed out as he took a few more of B.O.B.'s cards.
"I'm sorry, Link, I'm just trying to do what I feel is best for my queen.", Robert defended himself. "Okay, okay, we get it, you're a very devoted husband.", Link sighed as he waved his hand in dismissal.
"They called me crazy, but I'll show them. I'll show them all!", Dr. Cockroach gave a maniacal laugh that somewhat worried the couple. Susan looked a bit freaked out, "Doc, don't do that when you're attaching wires from that machine to Robert.".
"Yeah, Doc, I'm the one risking getting fried here, save that when I'm not strapped up.", Robert said with a slight nod.
"Sorry.", Dr. C quickly apologized as Insectosaurus laughed with a bellow before Link giggled a moment later.
"You're right, buddy. He is a total quack.", as Susan and Robert learned, apparently, Link could understand Insectosaurus.
"I'm not a quack, I'm a mad scientist! There is a difference, you know!", Dr. Cockroach tried to argue.
Susan watched Link roll his eyes, "Yeah, yeah, you said that a thousand times.". Susan glanced at Robert with a sigh, "Let's get this over for the day. (Whispers) You owe me something new for our playtime if this fails again.".
Like she said on the first night, she never wanted to scare people beyond reason, thus why she and Robert only did playtime two times a night, grateful that the bathroom is beyond soundproof, though she doubted that it's quakeproof.
Robert agreed that the first round of each night should be fast and passionate while the second round should be slow and intimate, with each other taking turns per night to discover sweet spots and quirks.
"I'm starting to run out of ideas, Sue.", Robert gave a small chuckle, "At least it's been just as good since the first time.". He had heard rumors that those couples that are very active to the point of almost all the time will quickly burn out and lose all passion. So far, neither of them had experienced that which he was completely grateful for.
"Just keep remaining still, Robert, I think I've got it right this time.", Dr. Cockroach assured him.
"As long as it doesn't kill me, I'm fine if it doesn't work.", Robert said.
"Alright then, flipping the switch!", Dr. Cockroach began his evil laugh again before quickly stopping. "Right, sorry, force of habit. Alert me if you start feeling your brain burning.".
Susan gasped, "Wait, what?!", but it was too late as Dr. Cockroach turned it on.
Robert felt pain shoot through his entire system as he essentially was being roasted by electricity for a few moments before the whole system shorted out and he was blown back from his chair by a good hundred feet.
Susan yelled in shock, "Robert!", running over to Robert's side, touching him, and she gave out a sigh of relief as she feels his heart beating, "Are you okay?", vaguely noticing that the boys made it over as well in concern.
Robert felt his whole head ringing as he slowly opened his eyes and felt extremely dizzy as he tried to recover from the extreme shock. Despite the previous attempts, all of which he volunteered to be the first test to prevent Susan from being harmed in case things went wrong, this one was the worst.
"Ugh... hey, my queen...", he gave a small smile as he groaned before looking at Cockroach and the others, "So, what happened?".
"Well, I'm afraid, Robert, we got the opposite result. You're a bit taller than before. If I had to hazard, I'd say 53ft and 5 inches. Now a solid four more than Susan's 49/11."
Susan sighed lightly, "Well, that's better than getting hurt. Doc, I might be wrong, but if I had to guess, I think the energy inside him was defending itself against your invention, thus getting taller from the effort.", using her logical side which doesn't happen often unless having a serious conversation about school science with Robert.
"Oh, great, the thing that almost completely ruined our lives," Robert said almost in the fact that the two of them were still together and their superhuman stamina for pleasing each other., "is purposely fighting back.". He sighed as he slowly stood up and bushed his standing hair back down before giving Susan another hug, "I'm sorry, love. I guess you're right. I was hoping that maybe we could have this fixed... but it's like you said, we're stuck with this energy.".
Susan nodded, coming to the same conclusion as Robert, "Hey, we got each other, and we got new friends who care for us. You saw those things in the walls...We'd need a miracle to be out there again...I just want to see my parents. They said they'd always be there for us...And your dad...It was bad when you lost your mom...I couldn't imagine how he's feeling when he thinks he lost you...".
"Yeah, it's still hard to believe it's been over a decade now that she's gone.", Robert nearly teared up before he calmed down. "You're right though, we have each other, and we'll think of something.", he gave her a kiss on the lips.
"Look, you two have to realize this, but there is no way out. No monster has or ever will escape.", Link bluntly said.
"That's not true!", B.O.B. argued, "The Invisible Man got out!".
"No, he didn't. We told you that just to keep you from getting upset.", Link explained with a grimace. "He died 25 years ago of a heart attack." Cockroach explained with a solemn nod.
"Yeah, right in that chair by you.", Link pointed out as B.O.B. took a few scoots back away from it, "He's not in it, we had him removed after a week when he started to smell.".
Susan looked at the smaller monsters, "Come on, guys, we can get out of here. The General said this place is top-secret, but sooner or later, secrets get revealed, and he cannot stop that. The internet is the first thing to start with. Look, Doc, you can build a hacking computer or something, yeah?".
Dr. Cockroach rubbed his chin in thought, "Well, I suppose that's an idea, but I fear we might not get much luck from it. This place I know for a fact is buried deep in the Earth and a wireless connection is out of the question. Meanwhile, wired is easily able to be intercepted.".
Insecto roared out a bit as he stamped his foot a few times. "Got that right.", Link crossed his arms, "It's like you said, Sue, anything short of a miracle is our way out.".
Less than a second which he said that, suddenly, the main door opened, and Monger flew in with his jetpack.
"Attention, I've got good news and some bad news for you all.", he then glanced his eyes over to Susan and Robert, "The good news is that you're all getting out!".
Susan gasped, "Are you serious, General? No joke about it?", holding into Robert tight as she prayed that he's right.
"No, ma'am, you have my word as a solider that it's the God's honest truth.", Monger smiled widely as Robert and Susan held each other so tight upon hearing that.
"Sue, I think I'm almost about to cry...", Robert whispered to her as they kissed each other. "Now I'm glad we really waited...", he winked.
Susan nodded, "Yes.", before Dr. Cockroach piped up, "And the bad news?".
"Well, there's a bit of a catch to that release order. Yesterday, the question of are we alone in the universe was answered. An alien ship crashed in eastern California and began attacking, with its target right now being the West Coast so far. It's a giant robot at the moment just slightly bigger than Insectosaurus."
"Okay, I think I've got it understood. For our freedom from this prison, you want us to fight and defeat this space robot.", Link summed up.
"Affirmative. Conventional weapons didn't work and if you're unable to stop it, we'll be forced to use nuclear weapons as a last option. But if you succeed, the President has approved pardons for all of you.", the General responded firmly.
Susan glanced at Robert, "Well, gaining our freedom while fighting an alien robot, that's tons better than staying down here forever. (Whispers) Bathroom's starting to smell a bit stale.".
"Well, we haven't exactly asked for the bathroom to have a thorough cleaning since we've arrived.", Robert whispered back to her as the monsters excluding Insectosaurus were brought to a huge jet.
During the war, Howard Hughes had devised a massive plane called the Hercules which was to fly troops and equipment over the Atlantic to avoid the U-Boat threat that was sinking Allied ships. However, the idea was just too ahead of its time, but it appeared that Monger and the government had finally perfected Hughes' vision with a plane that truly earned the Herculean name.
Susan smirked to herself, "Well, they will have to clean it themselves. We're out of this prison!", squeezing Robert's hand excitedly.
"Yeah, just have to smash a giant robot, and it's sweet freedom!", he squeezed her hand back, "First thing we're doing, Susan, is going home and getting a quick wedding set up. I don't care if it's the bare minimum with just our parents and a priest being the only attendees. We are going to pick up right where we left off.".
Susan gave about the biggest smile, "That's just perfect for me! Oh, we have to invite the boys too!".
"Yes, you're certainly right about that. You all can come too. We might be able to call back a few close friends like your bridesmaids as well, Susan.", Robert smiled warmly.
"Appreciate the offer, but I think you should hold up on the plans for a bit until we take that robot down.", Link reminded. "Still, it'll be good to finally get out. Head back down to Cocoa Beach for Spring Break. Freak everyone out and have the beach all to me.", he chuckled.
Susan giggled softly, "Mind if I and Robert join you for spring break? Maybe you could surf on the waves from our swimming, Link.".
"Now that's a good idea.", Link laughed with a grin. "And I'll finally see you in a bikini.", Robert tickled her neck with a few kisses.
"Well, I'd much rather prefer to return to my lab and finish my experiments.", B.O.B. said. Everyone gave him a quick look. "No, B.O.B., that's me. I'm the one with the lab and experiments.", Dr. Cockroach corrected him.
"Oh... right, well, then, I'll go back to Modesto to be with Robert.", replied Bob. "That's Susan, you're thinking of.", Link said with a huff.
"Marrying Susan?", weakly spoke Bob. "That's me, B.O.B.", Robert rolled his eyes.
Susan gave a snort before giggling lightly, "Well, maybe you can help the Earth by getting rid of the trash mountains in the oceans and all.".
"Hey, that's not a bad idea, actually. Wait, I forget, can he fully dissolve plastic?", Robert said. That answer was quickly solved as B.O.B. took a bottle of water that one of the troops had and placed it in his body before it completely evaporated.
"Okay then.", Robert said as he shook his head, once more trying to get the dissolving image out of his head as the monsters all loaded onto the plane.
Susan nudged Robert's side gently, "We can do this, Robbie. We just need to bring an alien robot down. How hard can it be?".
He hugged her once more as the plane took off high into the air; while a helicopter used a large monitor to distract Insecto so the bug could follow along.
The flight was fairly short as it turns out the facility was only in Nevada before the jumbo jet was approaching the abandoned 101 south of San Rafael, but north of the bay. The plane touched down before coming to a stop, and the monsters averted their eyes as the light of the sun came in. Both Susan and Robert's eyes readjusted before they saw the familiar looking city in the distance.
"Hey, love, isn't that...?", Robert spoke, almost at a loss. Susan gasped in delight and amazement, "The Golden Bridge! We're in San Francisco! It's not far from home!".
"Ah, it feels so good to finally feel the wind through your antenna.", Dr. Cockroach brushed them down like he was straightening his hair. "Feels fairly warm today. I lost track, what time of year is it?", B.O.B. asked in confusion and curiosity.
"I think it's already summer, hard to tell sometimes when you're near the coast.", Link stretched as he got ready for action.
Susan then heard something in the distance far behind them, and she turned around, gasping, "Er, guys, I think I see the alien robot.", feeling Robert grab her hand as he looked in her direction.
The fog slowly began to fade from the bay as deep in the water was the robot walking as its eye was still focused on downtown San Francisco.
"Shit, they weren't kidding about that thing. Suddenly, I'm not feeling as confident about taking that thing on. How about you, Sue?", asked Robert anxiously.
Susan exhaled lightly, "I admit I'm scared, but we're bigger than any normal person which means we get more strength, right?".
Robert gave a nod, "Yeah, that's true. Let's hope that's the case with that thing.". The robot's eye soon turned right into their direction and got a complete lock on them specifically.
"I think he sees us.", B.O.B. looked at the others before turning back towards the direction of the robot, "Hello! Hi! How're you doing? Welcome! We are here to destroy you!".
"Great help there, B.O.B.", Link sighed with a roll of his eyes.
"Okay, I think I have a plan.", Dr. Cockroach said, "B.O.B., Robert, Susan, the three of you along with Insectosaurus when he arrives keep that thing distracted. Link and I will see if we can get inside. We could be able to simply shut it down.".
"Guess it's the best plan we've got.", Robert said, "Any ideas how to get close to it?". They got their answer as the robot started moving towards their direction and opened its sides to reveal giant arms.
Susan gulped nervously, "That's solved. We can't allow it to wreck San Franscisco. (Glances around) Any ideas?".
"Stick to what we've got. Keep it distracted! Link, with me!", Dr. Cockroach ordered as the two of them moved away leaving just the giant, giantess and blob alone as the robot approached. Susan and Robert immediately fell back into the direction of the national parks that littered the coast north of San Fran. B.O.B., on the other hand, stayed put.
"Wow! Look at the size of that... foot.", He suddenly realized that he should've moved too before being flattened. Of course, he was completely fine as the robot continued to follow Susan and Robert. "Don't worry, you two!", B.O.B. called out to them, "I've got-", He was flattened again, "-him! I'm wearing- him down! Is he- slowing down?!".
Susan shook her head, "He'll be fine. He's indestructible, but we're not!", groaning lightly, "I hope all the animals fled to safety!".
"I'm pretty sure they did. They're sometimes a lot smarter than us!", Robert ducked down underneath a tree as Susan followed him, but the robot seemed to be hellbent on them; for reasons they wouldn't know at the time.
Susan glanced back for a second, "It didn't even care about crushing the trees! The National Park people is sure going to have some bad days after this!", and she looks ahead, "Hey, look, let's go to the hills!".
"Hills or ocean?", he pointed out to the nearby waters of the Pacific. "Hey, maybe we could get him to trip over the cliffs!", he pointed to an area of the coast that had a hard, sharp drop. "Your choice, honey. We could also tip that thing and roll it down with the hills.", he suggested. "Where exactly is Insecto and Doc right now?!", he cursed as the couple kept moving.
Susan thought quickly, "Let's do the hills first! Maybe we can trip him in the direction of the cliffs!".
"Got it! Let's split up around them!", the two of them ran up towards quite a few steep hills before splitting and forcing the robot to choose whichever one it wanted to go after first.
Of course, they should've realized that it being 400 feet tall compared to their 50-range meant that it would just decide to go over it. But it clearly wasn't that smart as its small legs gave it very little room at the base of the egg shape to clear the hilltop and got stuck, with one foot now trying to reach the ground once more.
"Wait, I got it... I got it!", B.O.B. cried as he slowly started to move off the foot and try to slide his way up the robot into a non-crushing area.
Susan yelled to him, "Bob, what are you doing?!".
"I think can get inside it!", He waved as he continued to slide... only to reach the curvature of the robot's underside and start sliding down thanks to gravity. "Wait, I got it this time!", He tried to slide again and... same result.
"I don't think he's going to scale that. Though I think he's gotten through that shield.", Robert suddenly realized as the robot continued to try and dislodge itself from its awkward position. "My queen, I think I've figured it out.", he smirked.
Susan grinned at him, "Yeah? What do you find out?".
"Projectiles and high-speed objects will reflect off it, but what about something slower moving like a person pushing against it?", Robert suggested with a grin.
Susan grinned, "Genius! Okay, you take that side and I take this side, and then," Susan gestures with a hand acting as a person falling over the palm, "Then, bam!".
"Got it. We'll roll him into the ocean!", Robert laughed as the lovers moved. Robert moved to the far side with the foot that was firmly in the ground as he looked for the right area to push. Hopefully, it was off balanced enough, and he was strong enough with Susan to tip it over.
"B.O.B., come on, just hop off, you're not going to get any higher.", he sighed as B.O.B. was located right near him.
"I almost got it! I almost got it!", B.O.B. was nowhere close to 'almost getting it'. Robert grabbed him and placed him on the ground as he got ready to push... but the robot's freed leg finally started to regain positioning and was starting to come right back onto the ground, right above Susan's head!
"Susan!", he screamed out to her in horror. Susan screamed out for her life, "Robert!", as she instinctively raised her arms to protect herself from the foot, and the foot came down.
Everything was silent for a moment as Robert's heart shattered as he thought that the love of his life had just been crushed. Of course, he was soon to be taken into a total surprise with what he soon witnessed.
The foot somehow came up without the robot's will to move it, and there, breathing and alive, is Susan, and she is lifting it up! Dirty and perhaps bruised, she is still going, and to her shock, she has superstrength, impossibly lifting up a giant alien foot, causing the robot to tee off balance, "Push, Robert!".
Robert shook his head to quickly get his mind back in the moment as he did as she asked and began to push hard against the underside. As with Susan, their respective superstrength soon began to easily overpower the robot before finally, its weight went off balance, and it hit the ground before it slowly started rolling down the hills towards the ocean cliffs nearby.
"There it goes!", Robert gave a quick cheer as he ran over to Susan as they watched the robot keep rolling. Susan hugged Robert desperately, "I thought I wasn't to see you again!", sobbing against his chest.
"Why are you crying?", Robert chuckled weakly as he held her tight. "I should be the one doing that, I thought you had died for a moment there.", he kissed the top of her head.
Susan looked up at him, "I really scared you, didn't I? I thought I was done for...", before leaning up to meet his lips, and kissed him passionately, grabbing into his hair as her legs hugged around his waist.
Of course, the two of them were so distracted in their passion that they didn't notice the robot slowly coming back up. The plan went as they expected; it rolled into the ocean off the cliff. But it was able to get back up into standing position and now had its eye glowing red at them as it scanned over their bodies.
B.O.B. called out, "Guys, the robot's watching ya!".
The two of them stopped as they looked back and could tell that they probably made it mad. They were frozen with fear for a moment before the helicopter leading Insectosaurus towards them flew away and the bug ran straight into the back of the robot. It quickly turned its attention towards him before shooting silk right into the robot's eye.
The robot went rampant as it was blinded as Insecto clawed at the surface of the robot. At the same time, a large dump truck with rocket engines on it was tearing right towards the cliff and robot at high speeds.
"You sure about this, Doc!?", Link screamed as he was latched against the seat.
"I have no idea!", Dr. Cockroach laughed sinisterly as the truck bounced and flew off the cliff towards the robot; but its arms turned around and caught the truck mid-air.
Susan yelled out, "Guys! Shit, we gotta do something!". Robert looked for a few seconds before another plan hit him. "Susan... you trust me, right?"
Susan looked at him, and recognized the glint of his eyes, "You are going to do something crazy, aren't you? I would always trust in you, Robert.".
"Good.", Robert smiled before giving her another kiss. "Hang on!", he grabbed her hand as the two of them ran down the hills and towards the cliff before Susan realized the idea. Since the robot was distracted with Doc and Link, with Insecto clawing at it, it was left wide open for a ramming by the two of them as they jumped off the cliff and right towards the robot's eye!
Susan formed a dive position, with her hands out in fists while she can see Robert angling his legs for a two-legged thrashing kick as she screamed in anger, "This is for stomping on me, robot!".
The two of them shattered right through the eye before they had a violent stop with how much circuitry was inside.
"Ow...", Robert gave a light groan as he slowly got up and dusted himself off as he had to duck a bit with how crowded things were inside, "You alright, Sue?".
Susan grunted lightly, "Should have gone with the feet. Yeah, I'm okay. Geez, which one is the right one to shut the robot off?".
"I don't know. Let's just break shit until it stops!", Robert started grabbing at things and kicking while Susan did much for the same for a few moments before the entire thing sounded like it powered down and started to go cold and silent. "Uh... did we do it already?", both of them looked down as they saw B.O.B.
"Hey, should I flip this switch back on again?", he asked as the two suddenly realized what he had done. Susan and Robert shouted, "NO!".
It was a couple of minutes later when things calmed down as Monger's jeep pulled up. The trio of smaller monsters were talking to each other as Insectosaurus was having a staring contest with the now deactivated robot while Robert and Susan lounged on the cliff edge.
"Impressive work.", Monger admitted with a slight proud nod, "Even kept the thing fairly intact.".
"I took the liberty of disabling the switch inside it. I would very much like to take this thing apart without it coming back on again by accident. Also, a simple switch? Whatever built this clearly doesn't like to complicate things.", Dr. Cockroach said.
Susan grinned lightly, "Either way, we won, and that means we earned our freedom!".
"Sweet freedom.", Robert gave a sigh of relief as he held his love tight, "I love you so much, Sue... I really do... I was so scared for a minute there though...".
Susan nuzzled warmly into his neck, "I know...I love you, Robbie. We're safe and alive.".
"Yeah, that's very much true.", Robert spoke softly as the two of them nuzzled together; unaware that their image was still being projected from the robot to its source.
Deep in the vacuum of space, many lightyears away from Earth. The robot, which actually was nothing more than a probe, had sent its final signals to the mothership. A massive craft that was triangular in nature, divided into 3 parts with a large reverse tear drop shape in the middle.
"Retrieval has failed. Probe 2291 has been disabled and will be unable to return.", the ship's computer reported to the master of the craft who is a four eyed, six tentacles, purple skinned alien.
This alien is called by the name of Gallaxhar, and he's quite annoyed when he heard the report.
"Damn it!", he slammed his fist down onto the arm rest of the command chair he sat in, "These pathetic creatures think that they can steal my Quantonium? Use it for their own pathetic ends for whatever this backwater world calls itself. Send forth another probe at once. Or ten. Or a hundred! However, no matter how many it takes, I want that Quantonium!".
The computer reported, "The ones who have occupied the power of the Quantonium, they are quite strong, that is, more than enough to defeat any probe. The ones called Susan and Robert, they seemed to be adapted to the Quantonium well enough, and I believe they aren't going to give it up unless by force.".
"Unable to give it up unless it's extracted properly by the ship's equipment. Yes, I can see very well how adapted to the Quantonium anyone can be. Not a bad idea when I think about it, but fairly useless in the grand scheme of things.", Gallaxhar put his hands close to his face as he quietly pressed his fingers together, "Susan and Robert, hmm? Enjoy your little victory and your little changes for now. But I promise you, I will retrieve the Quantonium myself, even if I have to rip it out of your bodies one cell at a time!".
The computer affirmed, "Orders to go straight to the planet, then. It'll take a Moatc (Month), about 29 Oahs (Days) in a straight route to the planet, Great Gallaxhar.".
"I've waited a long time for this moment, computer. I can wait... a little longer.", snarled Gallaxhar with a slight reluctance in his eyes. At least he could retrofit the ship's equipment to extract the Quantonium during this time.
