Growing up with girls, or, more accurately, growing up spying on girls and their slumber parties, had given Natsu a great advantage in girl lore.
He knew all about the 'one', and 'Mr Right', and the 'soul mate', and he knew exactly what a girl considered to mean romance. He perfected it all though much to his annoyance it wasn't working very well with Lucy….but then she was a weirdo and the normal romantic stuff like sharing a bed, wearing each other's clothes, and sharing food would be lost on her.
Anyway the point is Natsu knows all about the romantic things men are to women, and he knows that is what he wants to be with Lucy.
The problem was so did everyone else!
"Hello," a fat, balding, man said as he shook Lucy's hand, "I'm Mr Wright."
"Not if I can fucking help it!"
Lucy stood there in horror as she watched Natsu punch their potential employer so hard that the poor man went flying across town.
"Natsu!"
"What?!" Natsu spat out. "If anyone is going to be your Mr Right it'll be me, not that fat bastard!"
"He didn't say Mr Right!" Lucy wailed. "He said Mr Wright, as in Mr John Wright our employer!"
"Oh," Natsu blinked. He then chuckled sheepishly as he scratched the back of his neck. "Erm…oops?"
The only reason why Lucy didn't kick Natsu into the next century was because she was too busy despairing over the loss of her rent money.
