A fist, covered by red flames, clashed against an orange gauntlet. A shockwave ensued, the flames blanketing the fist snuffed out with it. The wielder of the gauntlet was knocked back a few meters, and with sweat travelling down from her eyebrow down to her chin… she tsked.

"Your soul trait is really bullshit Jaune! How the fuck are your punches stronger than mine, when punching is literally what I'm all about!"

The 17 year-old boy sighed at hearing his older sister's complaints, the weakness of the technique he used should be obvious.

"Come on Hazel you know it's just a technique, and a burst one at that. I'm pretty much just shooting at you at point blank range."

"Still! I'm supposed to be the one good at the art of throwing hands, not you!"

"You know that my main weapon is a sword…"

"Which is why you two are currently having this spar right now." The two turned to their father, Nicholas Arc, standing at a short distance from them. "Jaune needs to learn fight without his weapon, and Hazel needs a spar where she actually stands a chance at." "Hey!"

"You forgot to say that I'm also learning this so that I can fight non-lethally."

"That too."

"Honestly why is that such an issue? This is just making Jaune needlessly hold back, and can't he just use Crocea Mors anyway?"

"It's still more risky than fighting with his fists, you know how strong Jaune is when he's really determined."

Hazel grumbled at that, but begrudgingly agreed. Jaune once shattered her gauntlets and cracked her hand with just their family heirloom. Needless to say her little brother vowed to never ever use his true sword on them and kept profusely apologizing to her, which she tried to put a stop to, understanding that he didn't mean to break her hand, and because it was getting annoying.

"Anyways, enough chatter. Continue with the spar." The two siblings quickly turned serious and did just that.

They rushed at one another, unleashing rains of blows upon each other but never truly landing a clean hit, as each of their blows only met each other. Jaune, his fists continuously blazed by his determination and yet still being evenly matched by his sister. Hazel, was becoming more and more impatient the longer their punch fest went on.

With a roar, the woman poured all her strength into her right fist and threw it at her brother! Jaune calmly deflected it with a swipe of his hand on her wrist and landed a straight fiery punch right on her abdomen, but Hazel didn't even take a single step back. Instead she replied with a left uppercut that met its mark on Jaune's chin, lifting the boy off the ground for a second and dazing him. Hazel did not let up and began to rain blows upon her brother, who could do nothing as his sister's punches met all their marks. Jaune tried to put a guard up, but Hazel's straight right broke through it instantly, snapping his head backwards.

Still not done, Hazel grabbed Jaune's leg with her left hand and smashed him into the floor behind her! Even causing him to bounce off it. As she was about to continue her assault, a swift back kick to her jaw stopped her and she immediately jumped backwards. Laying eyes upon her brother who spun right back up, his face containing bruises yet his smile made it look like he didn't have any.

"Now I'm a little motivated." Was all that Jaune said, but Hazel felt impending doom upon her all the same. His aura, boosted by his Determination, healed up all his bruises instantly and also instantly causing Hazel to feel cheated.

Jaune once again rushed to his sister, who also did the same. The two pulled back their right fist as they neared one another, a shiny orange gauntlet on one side and a red fiery fist on the other. They met, Hazel was knocked back as a shockwave ensued, her gauntlet now sporting a crack right in the center of where it met Jaune's fist. Neither noticed it as they continued their fight, but things were different. This time, Jaune was the one who had the upper hand.

Before, they were evenly matched in terms of speed and strength, with Hazel's tenacity giving her the advantage. But now, Jaune was more faster and stronger than his sister. And it was starting to show as Hazel struggled to keep up with her brother's relentless assault, she beginning to get overwhelmed.

So Hazel decided to finally get serious. She had only been throwing punches so far, a basic skill in hand-to-hand combat, perhaps maybe even overused. Nonetheless, it was now time that she used the advanced skills.

Jaune landed a punch on his sister's face and was about to throw another, but was caught off-guard when his sister dove for his legs. By sheer reflex, Jaune's knee shot up and hit Hazel right on the nose, even causing her to dismiss her summoned gauntlets. But in the end, he only helped achieve her goal.

With a mad grin, Hazel clutched Jaune's leg with both hands and turned, bringing Jaune along with her. With his center of gravity off-balance, Jaune could do nothing as he was thrown on the ground. Hazel still hasn't let go however, locking his thighs with her legs, she held Jaune's ankles with her hands and pulled it to her. Effectively catching him in a leg lock, and making Jaune grunt in pain.

"Where's your motivation now Jaune?" Hazel taunted with a grin, her brother glaring at her for it.

Jaune's red eyes began to glow. "I'll show you where-" "Andd that's match." Nicholas interrupted before Jaune could go any further.

Hazel released Jaune and the two got up, turning to face their father who had approached them. "So Jaune what did you learn?"

"Hazel is better than me in hand-to-hand combat." Jaune begrudgingly admitted, he knew when to admit when someone was better than him after all… though he could have still won if the fight continued.

"And you Hazel?"

"I'm the best in hand-to-hand combat!" Hazel said proudly, who wouldn't be proud of beating their OP brother in a fight honestly?

"Hazel…" Nicholas said warningly.

She threw her arms up in surrender. "Ugh fine, Jaune is stronger and faster than me. Happy now?"

"Very. Anyways, Jaune take this loss as a lesson. You can't just win all your battles with sheer power, skill and technique matter as well."

"Yes dad."

"Good. Now then since you still have to go to Beacon for your initiation tomorrow Jaune, you're dismissed for today. Except for you Hazel."

"What?!" The orange-eyed woman protested. While Jaune nodded and made his way to the elevator of the underground training hall.

"This is bullshit why do I still have to train?"

"Because you clearly still need some improvement. You know that Jaune at the very least matches you in terms of speed and strength, yet you still engaged him in a fist fight."

"And I was winning too until he pulled that 'Now I'm a little motivated' shit on me!"

The elevator 'dinged' as it opened. Jaune stepped outside, the elevator closing behind him as he looked at the backyard of his home. Sounds of water being splashed reached his ears, causing his attention to be drawn to the pool. Within it, swimming happily without a care in the world, was Amber. Her playmate, Lavender, merely floating in the pool with dead eyes faced at the blue sky above, it seems that playing with the youngest had exhausted her and had her contemplating her life choices as she did her best to imitate a drowned corpse. And she was doing a pretty good job at it too, she should get an Oscar for that.

All the while their mother simply just watched from the edge of the pool on a lounger, a parasol beside it, protecting her skin from the gaze of the sun as she watched in amusement as Amber bothered her seemingly-dead sister saying that she needs to stop being lazy and play with her instead.

Jaune, being the mature 17 year-old teenager he is, did not decide to run and leap into the pool with the goal of annoying Lavender in mind. He was far too old for such immature antics after all…

The loud splash of water drew Amber's attention, turning to face the direction it originated from, she sees only a distorted image beneath the waters before she was suddenly increasing in height. Surprised, the girl quickly reached out and grabbed the wet mop of yellow hair in front of her with both hands for stability as she continued to rise higher and higher.

Realizing who the loch ness monster was, Amber smiled brightly as her legs swung forward excitedly. "Jaune!" The boy greeted her back with a head pat, which was well received judging from the fact that the girl bit his hand without hesitation.

Juniper sighed at their antics, where did she go wrong in raising her children? Perhaps when she approved their watching of anime and even made it into family sessions? …No that was impossible, her children were just crazy. "You couldn't have at least changed into your swimming trunks Jaune?"

"I would have had to walk back down here so yes, I couldn't have changed into my swimming trunks." Jaune replied, before his gaze moved to the still seemingly-dead sister of his. "So what happened to you Lav?"

Lavender only whispered back a reply. "Amber happened…"

"Tell her to stop being lazy Jaune!" Amber demanded from her throne on Jaune's shoulders.

"Welp, you heard the lady Lav, time for you to become alive again."

"…What the hell are you saying?"

"Hear that Amber? She's committing treason."

"Then she leaves us with no choice. Jaune, annoy her!" Amber said calmly.

Jaune grinned. "With pleasure."

"Jaune you better not-" A splash to the face cut her off.

"So why are you in my room?"

"Hmm, normally I'd lie and make up some random reason because we're supposed to be such good friends that we can understand each other even when we do lie, but I don't wanna waste time beating around the bush. So basically I'm here because since I'm going to Beacon tomorrow, we pretty much won't be able to hangout anymore." Jaune said as he plopped down on his friend's bed.

He left the house an hour ago after playing with Amber and Lavender, he still hasn't packed his things but it should be fine since the flight to Beacon was going to start at around 5 pm tomorrow and the flight itself shouldn't take too long anyway, even if the airship was slower than a bullhead.

"I don't see why this is such a problem, isn't Beacon just a school?"

"A school that's far away from the city. And Beacon isn't just a 'school', it's a school for huntsmen."

"Still don't see the issue here other than having to pay for a bullhead ride… Oh right, you have motion sickness."

"No that's not the issue, aura helps me with it anyway. So the thing is, Beacon has like this initiation test and right after that, teams are formed. Then those teams will leave together in a dorm for the next four years."

"Ah, so that's why… Wait do the boys and girls also live together?"

"Yes."

"That doesn't seem right."

"Cause the students are going to be hormonal teens?"

"Absolutely."

"Eh I'm sure it'll be fine."

"A team of hormonal teenagers in one room does not sound fine at all Jaune."

"You say it like we're always horny."

"Oh we aren't, but when you're going to be living in a dorm with girls for the next four years and all huntresses are pretty much always going to be good-looking…"

"…I can see your point. But I'm still not worried, because I-" Jaune pointed to himself, "-Only want to do such things to the person I like."

"Yet you still go to nhentai."

Jaune coughed and glared at his friend. "That is a totally different matter Robert."

Jaune's friend, now identified as Robert, shrugged at him. "Maybe. So have you finished Hollow Knight yet?"

Shame showed on Jaune's face as he looked way, crossing his arms, disappointed in himself. "No, not yet."

"And here I thought that you were an experienced gamer."

"I also thought that you were an expert weeb, but then it turns out you haven't even watched Mob Psycho yet!"

"I just don't find it interesting."

"Boi you watched One Punch Man before, how do you not find Mob Psycho interesting?"

"Because I just don't."

"Disgusting, and you call yourself a weeb?"

"Yes, but anyways." Robert slid to the side on his chair, allowing Jaune to see the screen of his computer.

"What do you think?" On his screen was a draft drawing of Najimi Osana. Jaune wasn't afraid to point out the flaws in his drawings, unlike his friends in Discord who would just say 'It's pretty good man'.

"Hmm." Jaune moved over to the screen to get a better look, his eyes analyzing the details of his friend's drawing. Forming criticisms in his mind as best he could, he wasn't good at drawing himself, but he would do his best to provide honest feedback.

"Okay so, that doesn't look like Najimi at all. It looks like you just drew a standard anime maid with short hair."

"Eh, I don't really like the art style of Komi-san so… Suck on that I guess."

Jaune pointed to the hair of the character, it looked like your standard anime short hair for girls. "If you could just make it look like the hair in the anime then it would actually look like Najimi."

"I'm just trying not to make it look like a solid helmet."

"And in doing so you made a totally different character. Though I think if you could just make each strand go towards her face then it would be fine."

"Her hair is weird anyway, it defies gravity for some reason."

"Its anime what do you expect? Anyways, the point is, solid-looking hair is what makes Najimi look like Najimi."

"Well I refuse that."

"What the hell do you even mean by- You know what I don't care." Jaune threw his arms up. "Overall your drawing only looks decent at best."

"I see, welp it's not even finished yet so it's fine." Robert said as he moved back into his desk and started working on his drawing again. His right hand, reaching for his stylus as he slid his graphic tablet back to him.

"Can't wait to find ways to roast it then."

"How very unsupportive of you."

"Would you rather I sing you praises and good wishes then?"

"Please don't, you're genuinely the only one who actually gives me criticism. My buddies in discord are only like 'Good job dude' and refuse to elaborate any further."

"So they're your hype men basically?"

"Yeah pretty much."

"I see." Was all Jaune could say as the room descended into silence, Robert being busy with his drawing and Jaune having nothing to do. He could play games on his scroll but that would defeat the purpose of coming here in the first place.

"…So you interested in anyone in your class?"

"No." God fucking dammit.

Robert sighed as he felt Jaune's glare on the back of his head, honestly does he have to make his apparent departure to Beacon so dramatic?

Turning his seat around, Robert faced his best friend with a neutral expression. "Jaune, you don't need to try so hard. It's not like you're going to be leaving the city right?"

"Well I kind of am-"

"Shut it you. Point is, we'll still be friends even if we won't be able to hang out as much again. I mean, Messenger does still exist you know, we can just use that app again like before."

"I know that, it's just… going to Beacon tomorrow isn't like going to school. I have to live there for the next four years of my life, without family or friends that I really know."

"Then just make new friends duh, honestly you're making this more dramatic than it needs to be. Beacon might be a school for huntsman but at the end of the day it's still a school, making friends is one of its purposes for being built. And aren't you guys going to be put in teams anyway? You'll never be alone there man."

"I… guess you're right. Sorry for being so dramatic."

Robert waved him off. "It's fine. I understand that being emotional is practically a must for you Arcs."

"Hey!"

Jaune's scroll vibrated in his pocket, pulling it out, the screen showed him that someone sent him a message. Unlocking his scroll, Jaune then tapped on the notification. Oh, Sable sent him a message, asking him to buy her the 'For Honor' game and that she'll pay for it when he gets back. Well, he had nothing else to do in Robert's room so…

Jaune sighed as he walked towards a store that he thought he would never visit again, the sign above said store spelling out: 'GameStation Store'.

As he entered the store, Jaune was greeted by the sight of numerous video games within their respective cases. Back when he was just a child, he would certainly be excited by this and would ask to buy one of the games here. But now… now he only wondered which of them could be played with two players or more, consoles are admittedly better than PC for bonding sessions after all.

"Ah, Jaune Arc." A man looking to be in his 30's, said from behind the one long counter of the store. "Finally decided to become a true console gamer have you?"

Jaune huffed at the man. "No I haven't, one of my sisters just asked me to buy a game for them."

"How unfortunate, and here I thought you had finally been converted."

Jaune rolled his eyes. "There's no way anyone could convert me into a console gamer. I understand the full capability of PC's after all. The only thing consoles have going for them are video game exclusives… and a good way to play games with family and friends I suppose."

The man sighed, well at least the boy could admit that consoles were better than PC's in one aspect. "So what game did your sister ask you to buy?"

"For Honor, I know that it's on the GameStation 4 so you don't have to tell me where it is." Jaune said as he walked to the GameStation 4 section, his eyes scanning around the area for the video game title.

"For Honor huh… well it would be a good buy for both you and your sister. The controls on it are better for console than they are for PC."

"Just because you're correct doesn't mean you're right you know."

"Sure, sure. Next, you're going to tell me people die if they are killed."

Jaune turned to the man with wide eyes. "I'm surprised you even know that."

"I also watch anime kid, I know a few things here and there."

Jaune hummed in response, before his eyes finally found the game he was looking for. He grabbed it and made his way to the cashier area. The man behind the counter grabbed the game case and scanned the barcode on it.

"That'll be 60 lien." Jaune pulled out the required lien from his wallet and placed it on the counter, it was soon grabbed and placed in the POS machine. The man then placed the video game case in a small plastic bag and handed it over to Jaune, who thanked him before making his way out of the store.

"Safe travels!" The man said as Jaune left.

Well that wasn't so bad.

The sound of a shattering window reached his ears… he just had to jinx himself didn't he?

Turning his head over to the dust store a few streets away from him, he was greeted to the sight of a red-haired girl wielding a big scythe while standing over an unconscious man wearing a suit… What the hell? Then a group of people, similar to the one that the girl seemed to have taken down, rushed at her wielding weapons of their own.

Oh shit. Jaune began running towards them, cursing the fact that he didn't react sooner. But he need not to be so quick to judge himself as the girl easily handled the goons that went after her. As Jaune got closer however, his eyes widened as he spotted another person in front of the store, one that he recognized for their infamy in Vale, Roman Torchwick.

Roman groaned in exasperation at the scene before him, the men he hired straight from Junior all taken down by some short stack who looked like puberty hasn't even hit them yet.

"Truly you lot were worth every lien." Sarcasm dripping from his tone as he dropped his cigar and snuffed it out with his cane. "Well, Red, I think we can all say that it's been an eventful evening, and as much as I'd love to stick around…"

Roman raised his cane towards the girl, the tip of it opened upwards to reveal an opening. "I'm afraid this is where we part ways." A dust round came out, its target being the red-haired girl, who avoided it by quickly firing on the ground with Crescent Rose and being sent up in the air as a result.

As Roman was making his escape, he noticed something red approaching him from the corner of his eyes. Before he could even begin to wonder what it was, it had already stuck him on his shoulder and sent him tumbling down on the ground.

His shoulder ached as he got up, wincing in pain as he briefly touched his left shoulder. Whatever it was that hit him was strong enough to bruise him even when his aura was up, perhaps it was a red dust round?

Sounds of footsteps halted his train of thought, no doubt the one who had hit him was the one approaching, and as such Roman turned towards the sound with a glare. Only to do a double take when he sees that it was just some blonde kid walking towards him with some sort of semi-transparent red sword on his shoulder, well at least he was older than the red head.

"I am so going to regret this…" Jaune said, making Roman scowl.

Now normally, Roman would also be chatting up his opponent to get their guard down. But alas, he truly had to leave now before the cops arrive. Quickly bringing Melodic Cudgel up, he fired at the blonde, only to see him bat it up into the sky using the flat side of his sword with absolutely no hesitation whatsoever and the round detonating once it was a good distance from the blonde… Nope, he was not dealing with this crazy kid.

Jaune dashed towards Roman, who kept firing round after round at him whilst running towards a ladder. Jaune deflected the first few rounds into the sky, before creating a shield on his left arm and hunkering down behind it as he was bombarded by dust rounds. Jaune gritted his teeth as he endured it, there was just far too many for him to deflect up to the sky and he really didn't want to cause more damage to the area.

Roman grinned as he was able to climb up the ladder and walked upon the rooftop. Finally he could escape and forget about all this-

"Hey!" Roman ducked, Crescent Rose sailing through where his upper body was a second before. Fucking brats!

Roman struck the girl's head with Melodic Cudgel and threw jab at her solar plexus. Crescent Rose glided through the air, and repeatedly hitting nothing but empty space as her owner's target kept dancing around her. The man laughed as he continuously weaved out of the weapons path, sometimes deflecting here and there, and punishing Ruby's failed attempts by lancing her head with Melodic Cudgel.

Ducking under Crescent Rose's trajectory for his head, Roman taunted Ruby with a beckoning gesture as he took several steps backwards with a smug smile. His taunt worked as the girl charged at him with a scowl, perhaps a little too well. Air rushed past her as roses trailed from her cloak, her semblance in effect as she sped towards the criminal in front of her. Crescent Rose whistled, the scythe carving in an arc, this time succeeding as it met Melodic Cudgel. It knocked Roman back a bit, but he was still prepared. Hooking the shaft of the scythe with the crook of his cane, Roman pulled the girl to him and shoved the tip of his cane at her stomach.

Silver eyes widened, Roman smirked. "Night little red." A bang echoed through the rooftop, but it wasn't Roman who fired. Crescent Rose rushed through the air and met aura, Roman was sent tumbling to the edge of the rooftop. Melodic Cudgel, still hanging from the shaft of Crescent Rose, was promptly grabbed and thrown away by Ruby as she glared at Roman.

Roman cursed as he got up, he shouldn't have gotten careless and should have just shot the girl immediately, but who on Remnant would fucking combine a scythe with a sniper rifle!? Now fully standing up, his eyes narrowed as his chances of escaping decreased, the blonde has finally caught up with him.

"Are you okay?" Jaune asked he arrived at the scene, looking worriedly at the girl beside him, she was clearly a bit roughed up by the looks of it.

"Huh? Y-Yeah I'm alright, but we should focus on Torchwick." Ruby squirmed on the inside, hoping that she didn't come off as cold with her response.

Jaune nodded at that and focused his attention on the criminal before them, summoning his weapon in his right hand. Ruby's eyes caught the entire process of the sword being created within his hand, and she had to force herself to look back at Torchwick. She had SO many questions about what he just did, and goddammit her curiosity was killing her, but now was unfortunately not the time for it.

The sound of engine reached their ears, confusing the two as its noise grew louder. Then, a bullhead rose up behind Roman, its engine roared as it steadied itself in the air. A spotlight turned on and slid over to the duo, the two of them stared in surprise at the ship for a moment before it turned into a glare as they readied themselves, fully intent on bringing the bullhead down.

Roman immediately jumped on the bullhead and moved to the cockpit. "We have to leave, quickly!"

"Scared of a few kids Roman?" Cinder mocked, but was already turning the bullhead around to leave the area.

"One of them more than the other, let's just say that the blonde is-" The bullhead shook, cutting off Roman mid-sentence as Cinder struggled to steady the ship. "-Crazy. I'll handle the ship, just deal with the brats outside." Bright amber eyes narrowed at dark green ones, but still left the seat nonetheless. Roman immediately moved in and took control of the bullhead.

Cinder arrived at the back of the bullhead and was greeted with a round that would have most certainly hit her had she not tilted her head by an inch. The bullhead shook again as some form of red energy crashed into it. Narrowing her eyes at the duo, the dust weaved in her clothes began to light up, flames gathered in her right hand, and with a shove of her hand, the fireball shot at high speeds towards the duo.

Jaune responded with a simple slash from his sword, a crescent of red came forth and matched the fireball's speed. They met mid-air, neither overpowered the other as a minor explosion ensued. Three more bursts of fire followed after instantly, all aimed for the blonde, forcing Jaune to jump back. Meanwhile, Ruby was able to shoot freely at Cinder, forcing her to be on the defensive as the woman incinerated the rounds aimed for her.

Jaune tsked, the bullhead had fully turned around and was already fleeing away. If he really wanted to, he could have the bullhead crashing down on the ground with a full-powered aura slash, but doing so would cause a lot of collateral damage and may even end up taking the lives of civilians. All that destruction just to catch two criminals? No, it was simply not worth it.

And so Jaune begrudgingly had to let them escape, his companion expressing her disapproval with a whine.

"No! We let them get away!"

"It's fine, we would have just caused a lot of damage to the streets if we brought it down anyway."

"Still-"

"What on Remnant happened here!?" A feminine voice said from behind the duo. Turning around, the two see an angry Glynda Goodwitch approaching them. Her purple aura shined menacingly as she approached them.

"Well?!"

"…I just wanted to buy a game."

"I hope you both realize that your actions tonight will not be taken lightly. You two put yourselves and others in great danger." Glynda said as she paced around Jaune and Ruby as they sat, a tablet in her hands showing the fight they had in the streets from different camera angles, courtesy of the surveillance system provided by the police.

"They started it!" Ruby protested from her seat.

"With all due respect, civilians were already in danger when Torchwick was on the scene. If anything, we made sure that he didn't get a chance to harm them by keeping his attention on us."

"And in return you both risked losing your lives fighting against him! Torchwick has killed hunstmen before, children. The best course of action you two should have taken was to simply run away and call the police." Ruby and Jaune were cowed at that, now realizing what could have happened if Roman and his companion weren't in a hurry to leave.

"But that's not what a huntsman would have done…" Ruby muttered as she looked down at the floor.

"And are you either of you hunstmen yet? No! Both of you are still students!" Glynda sighed, rubbing the bridge of her nose in an effort to calm down.

"Now if it were up to me, both of you would be sent home with a pat on the back…" Ruby smiled, were they going to be released with no punishments?

"…And a slap on the wrist." Glynda slapped the table with her crop, earning an 'Eek!' from Ruby and a blank look from Jaune.

"But… there is someone here who would like to meet you." Glynda looked at Jaune, "Not you Mr. Arc."

Jaune crossed his arms and pouted. "Well that's not very nice." Ruby couldn't help but giggle at that, whilst Glynda glared at Jaune, albeit lightly. His comment having lessened the tension within the room.

A gray-haired man entered the room, in his hands were a mug and… a plate of cookies?

"Ruby Rose," Ozpin's gaze closed in on her eyes, "You have… silver eyes."

"U-Um…"

"Weird conversation starter but ok." Ozpin's eyes slid to the blonde next to Ruby, a smile formed on his face.

"Jaune Arc…" Ozpin easily noticed the muscle hidden beneath his blue jacket, "I see you have gotten stronger young man."

Jaune's expression turned sheepish at that, his left hand reaching behind him to scratch the back of his head. "W-Well, maybe a little."

"So, Miss Rose." Ozpin said as he took a seat in front of the two placing his mug and the plate of cookies on the table, his gaze fixed on Ruby.

"Where did you learn to do this?" Ozpin gestured to the tablet beside him with his head, the device now showing how Ruby easily dealt with the goons that tried to attack her.

Ruby had to focus her efforts on tearing her eyes off the delicious pastry on the table in front of her before she could answer the man. "S-Signal Academy."

"They taught you how to use what is perhaps the most dangerous weapon ever designed?"

"Yep! Well… one teacher in particular."

"I see." Ozpin said, before pushing the plate of cookies towards the girl. Ruby glanced at the man before cautiously grabbing one and eating it in a single bite, Jaune blinked. Seeing that she wasn't told off, Ruby proceeds to shovel the rest of the cookies into her mouth whilst Jaune watched on, dumbfounded by what he was seeing.

Feeling a gaze upon her, Ruby turned to the person beside her, her face flushed as she realized that her companion hasn't even taken a single cookie. "S-Sorry, did you want one?" Ruby meekly asked.

Hearing Ruby's question promptly snapped Jaune out of his staring. "Oh, no worries its fine. I'm more of a chicken guy so…" That was all the confirmation Ruby needed to continue devouring the cookies.

"I have only seen one scythe-wielder on that level of skill before, a dusty old crow." Ozpin said.

Ruby chewed and swallowed before speaking, she had some manners after all. "That's my Uncle Qrow! He's a teacher at Signal, I was complete garbage before he took me under his wing. Now I'm all like-" Ruby mimicked some karate poses "-Hooowaaah! Watchaaaa!"

Right then and there, Jaune decided that should anything happened to the girl beside him, he would kill the ones responsible then himself for failing to protect the moe that is Ruby.

"That I've noticed. So what is an adorable girl such as yourself doing at a school designed to train warriors?"

"Well… I want to be a huntress."

"You wish to slay monsters?"

"Yeah! I only have two more years of training left at Signal! Then I'm going to apply to Beacon! You see, my sister's starting there this year, and she's trying to become a Huntress, and I'm trying to become a Huntress because I wanna help people. My parents always taught us to help others, so I thought, Hey, I might as well make a career out of it! I mean the police are alright, but Huntsmen and Huntresses are just so much more romantic and exciting and cool and really, gosh, you know!" Jaune blinked, clearly not able to keep up with the girl's… enthusiasm.

Ozpin and Glynda shared a look, one was amused and the other not so. Eventually Glynda sighed and crossed her arms in disapproval.

"Do you know who I am Miss Rose?" Ozpin asked.

"You're Professor Ozpin, the Headmaster of Beacon."

"Yes, and you want to come to my school?"

"More than anything. But of course I still have to finish my two years in Signal and-"

Ozpin smiled. "Well okay."

"Huh?"

I can already tell what you guys are thinking, "HOLY SHIT HE DIDN'T TAKE A WHOLE MONTH TO UPDATE WTF?"

And yeah I'm surprised too, though I'm rather miffed that this chapter is shorter than the last one. Mostly because I had a hard time writing the fight scenes, so feel free to let me know what your thoughts are on that.

But big news though, I won't be updating this fic for a while. Am I abandoning this? Hell no, I'm just finally going to be rewriting my old fic…

So yeah that's about it, see ya.

EDIT: Marked the fic as regular now and not a crossover, because after some thinking I realized that this probably doesn't really count as a crossover.

A crossover would be something along the lines of a character interacting with a world entirely different from theirs. This fic isn't that, I'm just taking the 'magic system', so to speak, from Glitchtale and applying it to Jaune and his family.
