Summary: set in the OVA 2 'verse. Some people (Natsu, Freed, and Juvia) shouldn't be allowed to watch Big Bang Theory….
Pairings: Natsu/Lucy, one-sided Freed/Laxus, implied Freed/Natsu friendship, and Gray/Juvia.
YouTube Prompt: Fairy Tail tribute to 'It's a Kind of Magic' by Queen.
It was a normal, though totally boring, day at school when Natsu suddenly dumped a load of paper on Lucy's desk. It was neatly piled, and so large, that it made a loud thumping noise when it landed on her notebook.
Lucy stared at it dumbly and then glared up at her idiotic, grinning, best friend. "What is this?" she asked suspiciously.
Because seriously it wasn't the first time Natsu tried to get her to do his homework.
"Relationship agreement."
He said it so calmly that for a moment Lucy thought she misheard…..
"WHAT?!" she shrieked. A relationship agreement, as in being a couple, on paper, in a legally binding contract? "Do you even know what that means?!"
"Sure," Natsu shrugged, "I watch TV." Lucy should have never have introduced Big Bang Theory to him. It was bad enough when he spent days running around shouting bazinga at random people…. "It means that you're mine."
"I AM NOT!"
Natsu looked completely unbothered by the fact that Lucy was on the verge of strangling him. Well….she always knew he was a fuckin moron. "Well you will be when you sign here," He stabbed his finger at the bottom of the first page, and then turned it over, "and here," he indicated to another line, "and here, and-"
"Natsu," Lucy interrupted irritably, "I am not signing this….." she trailed off when she caught his facial expression. He was pouting. Not just pouting, but with the full blown puppy dog eyes with a deep sadness that indicated if she didn't sign he may very well jump off the school roof and it would be her fault that he killed himself. "….without reading it first," she found herself involuntarily saying.
Goddamnit.
Natsu grinned brightly again. "Yosh!" he cried out excitedly as he pumped a fist in the air. "Read it then!" he ordered her as he grabbed a chair and sat himself right next to her.
Uncomfortably, Lucy obeyed. So far the contract was pretty basic and incredibly sweet. There was the typical 'you can't see other guys' stuff in there but so was the fact that he couldn't see other girls either. Natsu's contract also stated that he would take her out at least once a week, they would have to snuggle daily, that he was obligated to open all doors and pull out all chairs for her, and there was even a promise of nothing sexual unless Lucy wanted it.
Overall the contract was promising a perfect boyfriend.
Apart from one little detail.
Just one little clause…..that stated Lucy had to cater to Natsu's every whim, that she had to cook for him, message his feet, anything he wanted really….
"Oh hell no!" she snapped as she stabbed her nails at the evil little clause. "What do you think it is?" she demanded to know. "The fifties? I am not catering to your every whim."
"C'mon Luce!" Natsu whined childishly. "Freed's doing it."
Lucy blinked at that. "Freed?"
What on earth did Freed, the most sensible and intelligent person in the school, had to do with this?
"Yeah," Natsu nodded rapidly, "he helped me make the contract." Oh Lucy will so be having words with Freed later…. "He was doing one anyway for him and Laxus and it explicitly says that Freed is to cater to Laxus' every whim." Lucy shouldn't be surprised really. After all the amount of times Freed has prostrated himself for Laxus, of course he would have a contract stating he would cater to his beloved hero's whim…..but when had he and Laxus gotten together? "He said it's what all good partners should do for the better half."
Any anger Lucy would usually have over a comment like that (as if Natsu was the better half) had been pushed out by her insane curiosity. She wanted to know when Freed and Laxus had gotten together. The last she had observed of them (this morning) was Freed being his usual gushy and awe-struck self around Laxus and Laxus ignoring him.
She was about to ask Natsu this pressing question when she saw Laxus storm out of the classroom opposite them, face bright red with fury and embarrassment, and Freed following him.
"LAST TIME I AIN'T SIGNING THAT SHIT!"
"But Laxus-sama-"
"I SAID NO!"
Well that answered her question. They weren't together, though Freed obviously wanted to be and was blatantly heartbroken. Poor guy. Unable to crush Natsu's heart, or at least his spirit, like Laxus had done to Freed, Lucy merely stabbed a finger at that horrible clause in the contract. "Take that clause out or I won't sign the damn thing," she ordered.
After all, knowing Natsu, he would be too lazy to do that and she would never have to sign it, and they could be friends like normal until he asks her out normally.
Natsu looked at her eagerly. "Really?"
"Really." She promised.
He came back the next day with a new contract with said evil clause taken out. Damnit!
Omake: One Week Later…..
Natsu was on his way to meet Lucy when he saw something epically hilarious. Gray, wearing nothing but his boxers, was trying to make a run for it while Juvia followed him determinedly with a contract in her hand. "Gray-sama!" she wailed. "You must sign the contract!"
"Hell no!" Gray barked over his shoulder. "We're already dating. I'm not agreeing to cut all contact with my friends."
"I'm not asking you to cut all contact with your friends, Gray-sama!" Juvia had then burst into outright crocodile tears. "What sort of horrible person do you think Juvia is, Gray-sama? Juvia loves Fairy Academy. Juvia just wants to make sure Gray-sama keeps away from the likes of Love Rival who would undoubtedly take Gray-sama away from Juvia." It was then when Juvia tackled Gray to the ground and shoved the papers in his face. "Just please sign them before Juvia loses her Gray-sama!"
Gray struggled pathetically against his girlfriend as he tried to get the paper out of his face. As soon as he did, his eyes landed on Natsu, and his face lit up with hope.
"Natsu," he cried out. "Help me!"
"Sorry but it's my contracted snuggle time with Lucy."
And with that, Natsu happily abandoned Gray to his fate.
