Chapter 2
An hour later and a very tired looking doctor Timber walked up to them.
"We manage to stabilise him," he said "But he was bleeding internally badly and most of the blood that was his blood type that we had in house was use, we may need more."
"I have the same blood type as Walter," Paige said "You can have some of mine if you need to."
The doctor smiled and thanked her but also told her that it would not be needed at the moment as more blood was going to be delivered the next day.
"Can we see him before we go?" Paige asked
Doctor Timber nodded and showed them back to Walter's room, Toby took the doctor Timber to one side to talk to him, while the other went to say goodbye to their friend.
"I am still staying," Cabe said and sat down beside the sleeping young man.
No one argued with the Homeland agent and soon was it just him and the sleeping Walter left in the room.
"I am so sorry for this son," Cabe said in a low voice "I should have come with you. I should have come looking for you sooner."
Cabe sat in silence for a long while and started to feel his eyes grow heavier and heavier.
Suddenly he woke by a loud sound he turn to look at Walter and saw to his horror that the young man was even paler than before and the sound come from the heart monitor.
Before Cabe could do anything nurses and doctors flooded in and more or less kicked him out, he stood outside the door listening helpless.
"His heart has stop!" one voice called out "Fast the defibrillator!"
"Clear!" another voice called out
"Nothing," the first voice said
"Clear!" the second voice said
"Time of death 02.30," a third voice said
Cabe felt like his world had just ended, the young man that he saw as his son had died, tears run down his face and a strangled mix between a sob and a scream was let from his lips.
"WALTER!" he sobbed and fell to the floor.
"Mr Gallo," a voice faraway said
Cabe ignore the voice he was so deep into his sorrow.
"Mr Gallo," the voice said again and now someone was shaking his shoulder "Please Sir wake up, you are having nightmare."
Cabe woke up with a strangled sob and looked around he was in Walter's room, a nurse stood over him as he lied on the floor with tears running down his cheeks.
"Hello sir," She said smiling "I heard you cry out and thought something was wrong."
Cabe jumped up so fast that he nearly fell over again and rushed over to Walter.
"He is alive," he said in wonder "I dream, it was terrible but he is here still."
He wanted to hug the young man so much but know that he couldn't for all the medical stuff that was attached to him so instead he just grabbed the hand that was nearly unhurt and squeezed it.
The nurse smiled again.
"Yes he is alive," she said and check a few things "Everything looks good."
She left soon after and Cabe return to the chair he had being sitting on before, but for some reason he couldn't relax, he got up and walk around the room trying to figure out what to do and the a thought hit him, he rushed out of the room.
Cabe returned a while later with a thick book in his hands and sat down beside the bed again.
"I know that you may found this childish and stupid," he said to the sleeping man "But I ask the doctor and he said that you may hear all of this, so um I am going to read to you."
And he started to read the adventure of Sherlock Holmes in a low voice and soon the outside world faded away and only Sherlock Holmes and Doctor John Watson existed.
Cabe must have fallen asleep at some point because the next thing he know was that it was morning and Paige was holding a new baked donut under his nose.
"Good Morning," she said "How is he?"
"Same as before," Cabe said and took a bite of the donut "Thanks."
Paige looked over at her friend's sleeping form and hope that he would soon wake up.
"Could you stay with him for a while?" Cabe asked "I have to call and see how far they have come with catching the bastards that did this."
Paige nodded and took the chair she had had the night before and picked up the book that had fallen to the floor when Cabe had fallen asleep reading it and put a scrap of paper to mark where he stopped reading.
"So Ralph is at school," She said "He is really worried about you, we all are of course. Cabe will find the bastards who did this and make them pay for this."
Cabe return with a nurse.
"They looking for them," he said "they call if they found something."
"Good morning, I am just going to check him over and then I will be gone," she said brightly and started to check Walter's machines and wrote down a few thing "Well everything looks good and as it should be, call if you need anything."
The nurse left the room.
"Have you have breakfast yet?" Paige asked
"Yes the donut," Cabe said
"That don't count go and get some really inside you," She said "I will sit with him, I promise he will be here when you return."
Cabe sigh but did walk off to fetch some food or at least coffee.
It was not long after that Cabe had gone to eat breakfast that Happy and Toby arrived.
"Good morning," Toby said "How is he?"
"He is the same," Paige answered "nothing change but the nurse said that everything looks good."
The next to visit was Sly who had Megan with him in a wheelchair.
Megan gasped when she saw her brother lying in the hospital bed all wrapped up.
"Walt," she said in a wobbly voice and tears treated to run down her face
Toby left briefly to see if he could find the doctor and see how Walter really was doing and when he would wake up.
Megan rolled over to her brother and held his hand in hers.
"Please Walt," she whispered "Don't die."
"He won't die," Happy said and tried to sound like she believed it "He is too stubborn to die."
Megan nodded at that and even a very small smile was on her lips, she had to agree with Happy, Walter was incredibly stubborn when he wanted to.
They talk in quiet voices as if they were worry they would wake the sleeping young man if they spoke too loud.
Toby returned with a frown on his face.
"I have talked to the doctor," he said and then just stopped and looked at them "Maybe we should wait for Cabe."
It was that which made everyone worry.
They didn't have to wait for long, Cabe walked in with not just his own coffee mug but something for all of them even Megan, he had had a feeling she would be there and got her a mug as well. He was meet by five worried faces.
"What happened?" He asked "Is Walt okay?"
"Well," Toby started and looked like he wanted to be anywhere but there.
"Well WHAT DOC!" said Cabe a bit loudly
"I have talked to doctor Timber, and well Walt has a few broken bones but they will heal so will his nose, it may be a bit crooked, he had a few wounds that needed stiches that will most likely leave scars, the bruises will go down," Toby said leaving the big but unsaid
"But what?" Paige asked worried
"They kicked him in the head more than once," Toby said in a weak voice "The doctors don't know what the damage will be, it can be nothing more than a hell of a headache, it could more."
"More like what?" Sly asked feeling faint
"He could wake up with brain damage," The doctor in the team said
"We will help him no matter what," Paige said "right?"
The other in Scorpion all nodded of course they would help their friend no matter what.
A/N: So that was chapter two, hope you like it, I have a few ideas as to what Walter will have to deal with after he wake up. Nothing too bad.
