Walter woke up and everything was quiet he was in a hospital room that he guessed after seeing all the white and the sterile smells, he turn to look at the chair beside him and saw that Cabe sat there sleeping, unknown to Walter Cabe had not left his side since he got to the hospital two weeks earlier.
Walter tried to remember what had happened, but nothing come up this made him very worry he was after all a genius with an eidetic memory and for him to not remember something was not good.
He tried to figure out why he was in hospital when a nurse suddenly just popped up beside him causing him to jump.
The nurse open her mouth and started talking but Walter didn't hear anything and the look on his face must have shown this.
The nurse disappeared and left a now very worry Walter alone with a still sleeping Cabe. Walter just sat in the bed trying to remember what had happened the last thing he remembered was that someone had dragged him in to an alley and then just pain and then blackness.
A strangled sob escaped him and hide his face in the blanket that was on the bed, the sob had woken Cabe up.
"Walter," he said "You are awake, how are you feeling son?"
But Walter didn't look at him, he just kept his face buried in the blanket a few strangle sobs could be hear but nothing else.
Cabe reached out and touched the young man's shoulder.
"Son," he said softly
Walter fell nearly of the bed when he felt something touching him he flinched and tried to scream but nothing come out and the pain the followed was so great he didn't know what to do he just hugged the blanket tighter and buried his face in it hoping for the pain to ebb out soon.
Cabe could only watch the pain that seemed to wash over the young man he saw as his son, he had never felt this hopeless not since his daughter had died all those years ago.
"Hey Walt," he said softly "Calm down I will call the doctor okay"
But Walter didn't react to this either.
"WALT!" Cabe screamed but got nothing
Doctor Timber and a nurse rushed in.
"Well look who has woken up," the doctor said smiling "Hello Walter, how are you?"
Doctor Timber waited but got just like Cabe no answer from the young man in the bed, he frown, he reached out and touched Walter who jumped half a meter in the air looking around, when he saw the doctor he open his mouth but nothing come out and a flash of pain washed over him again, it felt like his throat was on fire and that someone had poured broken glass down it as well, his breathing had got faster and it hurt in his chest from it, Walter knew that he was heading for a panic attack but he couldn't stop it.
Doctor Timber turn to the nurse and told her to fetch a sedative, he then turn to Cabe.
"I will have to examine him but first he need to calm down or he may do more damage," he said
The nurse returned and the doctor gave Walter the sedative and within just a few moment Walter's breathing calm down and his eyes started to get heavy.
"May have giving him a bit too much," doctor Timber said softly and helped Walter to lay down in the bed, "I think I will leave him to sleep for a bit and then try to examine him."
"Doc," Cabe said worried "he… he didn't seemed to hear me."
"Could just be a temporary thing," The doctor said "He could be confused and nor realised where he was."
That didn't help Cabe's worry one bit, but for the moment he had to push the worry away and as he looked at the once again sleeping young man he start to call the others in Scorpion to tell them that Walter was finally awake.
Sly was with Megan so they could be at Walter's room in just a few minutes, Megan was teary eyed when she come in.
"How is he?" She asked
"He is," Cabe started to say but stopped he didn't know what to say. "He is asleep just normal sleep, he was a bit confused when he woke so the doctor gave him something. I think he will wake up soon."
Megan nodded and sat down on the other side of the bed grabbing the hand that was still in a cast and squeezed it. She and Sly had been visit every day, it had been hard for her seeing her little brother so hurt and vulnerable, Sly had been a great comfort but he too had found it hard to see his best friend in the hospital bed.
The next person that come was Paige, she had just left Ralph with his father who had just the week before reappeared.
She just as Megan asked how Walter was and got the same answer.
Paige, and Ralph when he wasn't in school, had been to visit Walter as often as they could, Paige was really glad that Walter had finally woken up as Ralph had been so worried about him, she had too but to see her son so sad and worried had been breaking her heart. And then Ralph's dad Drew had just popped up again wanting to be a family again had not help at all.
Toby and Happy were the last to appear having stopped and got some food for the team.
Toby did as he had done the other time he had visit went and talked to doctor Timber, Happy sat down and just watch her friend sleep, only now it really was just sleeping he was doing not being in a coma like state, she would never admit it but she had been really worry and scared that he would never wake up again.
Toby soon returned he was frowning but tried to stop when he entered the room.
"He said that Walt will sleep for a while and hopefully he will be calmer when he wakes up," He just said
Toby had been worried when he heard from doctor Timber that Walter nearly had a panic attack when he woke up.
It took nearly two hours before Walter open his brown eyes and stared up at the white celling, at first he didn't remember where he was but slowly he started to remember that he was in hospital but nothing more it was all just a big blur for him and it scared him.
The others in the room didn't notice that their friend had woken up as Walter had not said anything nor had he made a sound to indicate that he was awake. It was Megan who still held her brother's hand in her while she listening to Sly reading the new 'Super Fun Guy' comic for her, that first notice that Walter had return to the land of the living, she felt the hand twitch.
"Walt," she said and hugged him as carefully as she could.
From Walter's point of view something with dark hair landed on him out of nowhere, a strangled sound could be heard and Megan felt how her brother flinched and then tensed up when she hugged him.
"Oh Walter sorry," she said and nearly jumped of him "Did I hurt you?"
It was first now that Walter even saw that it had been his own sister that had hugged him. She was talking to him but all he saw was her mouth moving no sound come out. His breath started to grow quicker he looked around and saw that everyone beside Ralph was there and they all looked at him.
"Hey Walt," Toby said and waved his hand in front of his friend's eyes.
Walter did turn to look at Toby but when Toby ask him something he didn't answer him, a frown grow on Toby's face and he left the room to talk to the doctor.
He soon returned with doctor Timber and a nurse.
"Hello again Walter," Doctor Timber said "I am Doctor Timber nice to meet you."
But nothing from Walter just a blank look.
The doctor still talking not just for Walter but for the others in the room to, he kept a running commentary while he examine Walter.
"…everything look good," he said and placed the stethoscope around his neck again "at least the outside, I will have to book a few tests for him, to see if we can find out why he is not responding verbally."
The nurse had written down what tests they needed to do on Walter and soon did both of them leave the room.
Walter watch as the man who he could only guess was a doctor and a woman who could only be a nurse left the room.
He looked around the room all his friends were there, his family, the only one that was not there was Ralph.
He turn to look at Paige he wanted to ask her were the little genius were but when he open his mouth and tried he only manage a groan and made his eyes water in pain, something was wrong with his throat.
He tried to figure out how hurt he was, he could feel that his right arm was in a cast, his left leg was also in some form of cast and he could feel that he may have stiches on his stomach and that his ribs was wrapped tight, and most of all now that he was calmer and could think clearer he felt that he had a horrible headache, it felt like someone was hammering a huge sledgehammer in to his skull. He closed his eyes for just a moment when he felt someone squeeze his left hand he turn to look and saw that it was his sister sitting beside him.
She open her mouth and nothing.
Walter started to grow frustrated and it must have shown as someone tapped him on his should making him jump a bit he turn a saw that Cabe sitting there holding up a note book where he had written.
"Walter squeeze Megan's hand one for no and two for yes."
Walter smiled finally a way to communicate with them, he nodded and squeezed Megan's twice.
Cabe turn the page of the book.
"Are you in any pain?"
Two squeeze.
"Where?"
Walter let Megan's hand go and pointed at his head and then just all over as the pain had started to pulse through his all body mostly head and throat.
Cabe nodded and called the nurse, who smiled and gave the poor man in the bed something for his pain.
The sweet relief from the pain soon flooded Walter's body and the pain in his head soon ebbed out a bit to a dull ache he could ignore at the moment.
It didn't take long before his eyes grow heavy and soon he was fast asleep.
"He is going to be okay right?" Megan asked when she saw that her brother was fast asleep.
"Yes I hope so." Toby said softly but he was worried about his friend.
A/N: Okay first of all Walter will be Smart couldn't really write him if he was not smart, he will not have too many panic attacks there may be one or two more, but it will not be something that happened often. This is an AU with some episodes that I pull from, I may do real episode or just the aftermath and between stuff, I will try and do them in order, some eps will not be at all because it would not fit in this story.
