Bobbi walked into the control room, she hadn't seen Johnson yet and it was almost lunch time, "Officer Morse, Johnson is waiting in conference room A17," Chief Adams said.
"Thank you, ma'am," Bobbi said before heading to conference room A17.
Upon entering the room, she saw Johnson standing with her back to her looking through a file in her hands. Bobbi could also see a lot of other files on the table.
"Ahem," Bobbi cleared her throat, which got the attention from the agent in front of her. Johnson looked over her shoulder briefly, before turning her attention back to the file in her hands.
Her nerves were coming back when her eyes met the mysterious agent, why the hell was she nervous? She thought.
"Where do we start?" Bobbi asked, noticing that Johnson's back straightened, and her shoulders stiffened for a brief moment before she turned around and took a few steps towards Bobbi. Bobbi saw the other agents' eyes looking her up and down before they settled on her face, or more accurately her eyes.
It felt like the young Woman? Girl? was searching for something. For what, Bobbi didn't know, it felt like forever before the girl stopped staring into Bobbi's eyes, and turned around again; Bobbi kind of missed the attention, what was wrong with her? She thought.
"You can begin with the files over there," Johnson said, pointing to a stack of files, oh god, oh no, no, no, that cannot be! Why did my soulmate have to be a Hydra agent? Bobbi thought.
Bobbi moved over to the stack on the other side of the large table, and they worked for a few moments. Bobbi kept looking over to Johnson, the girl barely reacted to learning they were soulmates; Bobbi knew Johnson knew, the girl had tensed when Bobbi spoke to her for the first time. Was that really the first conversation we've had? I still don't know her name, Bobbi realized.
"Ahem, Bobbi, well Barbara, but no one calls me that," Bobbi said smiling at the brunette, Johnson just looked up at her. "My name," Bobbi clarified, Johnson was still just looking at her, her face blank and Bobbi could see confusion in the girl's eye's, and yes it was a girl, nineteen years old, she remembered when she had gotten her mark.
But how did a nineteen-year-old girl get in her position, Bobbi thought. The silence was deafening to Bobbi, and just as Bobbi was fearing the girl wouldn't say anything, "Daisy," Johnson, no Daisy said, the voice was small, and she wasn't looking at Bobbi, but Bobbi would take it.
Over the next six hours they looked through files upon files, and Bobbi also learned she was reading the files that Daisy had already read. There were a few notes in them, some just said trust, others had a question mark or two, and some had interrogation written on the front page, so Bobbi guessed she was double checking the files.
She didn't know what to feel about that, she feared for when Jemma's file would come up. "Um, do you want to take a break or something? It is getting late," Bobbi asked.
"No," Daisy answered without looking up from the file she was reading. Daisy wrote something down onto the file before she put it aside, but not on the side where Bobbi was sitting, she put it on a chair, which Bobbi just realized had almost ten or so files on it.
Daisy must have seen her questioning look, "Those are the files of people that I am 95% certain aren't Hydra."
"Uh, do you need me to double check them?" Bobbi asked.
"No," was again all she got, at that moment Chief Adam walked into the room.
"What do you have?" she asked.
"These for now," Daisy said, handing Adams the files from the chair.
"That's a lot," Adams commented, Daisy just shrugged, and Bobbi just waited for Adams to reprimand Daisy, but it didn't happen.
"You can both go home for today," Adams said, walking out of the room again.
"Umm, do you want to go for a drink sometime?" Bobbi asked.
"I'll get back to you on that," Daisy said, grabbing her jacket, and waiting for Bobbi to walk out of the room.
It took a moment for Bobbi to realize what Daisy was waiting for before she walked out of the room so that Daisy could lock it, Bobbi then walked with Daisy to the elevator. She tried to start a conversation with Daisy, but the young women still only gave short answers.
When Bobbi arrived at Jemma's, she was already talking to Coulson and May. Bobbi walked right up to the fridge and took out a beer, she didn't really care that they could see her. Walking over to the sofa, she sat down with a plop, and after taking a big gulp of the beer she addressed them.
"Her name is Daisy Johnson, she is 19, and…. she is my soulmate," Bobbi said, taking another sip of her beer.
"Ahh Bobbi that is great, congratulations!" Jemma said, forgetting that the young woman is a Hydra agent.
"Jemma," May said.
"Oh, sorry," Jemma said.
"What should I do?" Bobbi asked, almost pleading with Coulson and May.
"I don't know Bobbi, I know it can't be easy for you," Coulson said sympathetically.
"May?" Bobbi asked.
"I am with Coulson, I don't know," May answered.
"Would one of you please just tell me what to do?" Bobbi said, a little irritated.
"It wouldn't be right to use your bond to manipulate the girl, but if you want to get to know her you can, and if you learn that she wants out, you, and the rest of us, can help," May said.
Bobbi looked at the hologram of May and nodded her thanks, "Okay, I'm not sure that she wants to get out, and if she won't, I know what to do. I won't let her hurt Jemma or anyone innocent," Bobbi said.
Jemma looked like she wanted to say something but thought better of it, after that they ended the briefing.
"I need another beer," Bobbi said, and went to get the rest of the case of beer from the fridge.
"Bobbi are you okay?" Simmons asked once Bobbi had returned.
"No, I'm not, my romantic mate is a Hydra agent, a high level at that, and she is dangerous. I have seen her torture and kill a man without blinking," Bobbi said, downing the new beer in her hand.
"I'm sorry, Bobbi, but maybe she's not that bad," Simmons said.
"Jem, you saw her on that retravel mission, the way she dragged that man, outed the CIA agent, tortured him for hours, and then killed him," Bobbi said.
"I know, it's just I have a feeling about her," Simmons said.
"Jemma, I love you, but sometimes you can be a little naïve," Bobbi said.
"Maybe you have had enough of those, have you eaten?" Simmons asked, a little hurt but she also knew Bobbi didn't mean it in a bad way. She knew she could be a little naive sometimes, but she really did have a feeling about the girl.
"I can handle it and I'm not hungry," Bobbi said, taking her third beer.
"Um… well… okay," Simmons said, knowing that if she pushed Bobbi more, she would snap at her.
Bobbi woke up with a groan. "Ahh my head," she moaned.
"That happens when you drink a whole case of beer on an empty stomach," Simmons said, putting a glass of water and two painkillers on the coffee table, along with a cup of coffee and a plate of sunny side up eggs, bacon, and toast.
"Thanks Jemma, and sorry about what I said yesterday," Bobbi said, taking the pills and water, before digging into the breakfast.
"It's okay, I think that hangover is doing the job for me," Simmons said with a smile.
When Bobbi walked into the conference room, she saw Daisy leaning against the table reading a file, "Are you hungover?" Daisy asked when Bobbi sat down, her tone was weird, Bobbi noted.
"A little," Bobbi answered, Daisy looked at her weirdly and then at the door, before nodding softly.
"Okay," she said.
They worked for a few hours, "Wednesday at 7 pm," Daisy suddenly said.
"What?" Bobbi asked.
"I have time to meet on Wednesday at 7 pm," Daisy said.
"Oh, um, okay, where do you want to go?" Bobbi asked.
"How about we meet at the building entrance and walk to a small place I know?" Daisy asked, giving Bobbi that look again, as if looking for something.
"Yeah, we can do that," Bobbi said, Daisy nodded and went back to the file she had been reading. Bobbi looked at Daisy for a short moment before also going back to the file she was reading, but she kept glancing at Daisy in the corner of her eye.
It wasn't long before Chief Adams walked into the room, "Morse, you can go home for the day," she said, but Bobbi heard it as more than just a reminder, it was an order to get out, by the tone Adams used.
"Yes ma'am, see you tomorrow Agent Johnson," Bobbi said standing.
Daisy gave Bobbi a nod and her face was once again blank; she hadn't noticed that Daisy's face hadn't been blank before going blank again, she had to be more careful around Daisy. After giving Adams a nod, she left.
