Natsu and Lucy walked in the door. It was Christmas Eve and they were eager to take part in the festivities that would undoubtedly involve food, booze, and rowdy games like it had done every year before.

What they hadn't expected when they entered (and shouted their greetings) as several people to shout; "NATSU, LUCY DON'T – oh never mind," they finished with a sigh and slumped in defeat.

"What the….?"

Natsu and Lucy exchanged bewildered looks. "You're weirdness must be rubbing off on them," Natsu decided cheerfully.

"It is not!" Lucy punched him. "You go annoy someone else, I want to give Levy-Chan her present," Lucy said huffily. She took a couple steps only to bash into an invisible wall and stagger back into Natsu who caught her easily.

"Are you all right?" Natsu asked worriedly.

"Yeah," Lucy gasped. "What on earth was that?"

Natsu pushed his hand against the invisible wall which caused it to light up with some very familiar dark purple writing. "Freed!" Natsu and Lucy growled in unison.

"Ah now," Kinana chided them gently, "don't blame Freed, he was bullied into it by Mira. She wants everyone to have a kiss under the mistletoe this year."

"M-M-Mistletoe!"

Natsu and Lucy looked up to see a very familiar sprig tied in a red bow up above them. For the last four Christmases they have always been able to avoid the mistletoe kiss. But now…

"Freed put up special runes," Mira said happily, "Not only can't you leave until you kissed the person under the mistletoe but you can't leave until you kissed on the lips!" At that point Mirajane let out a deafening squeal that made the Dragon Slayers clutch their ears.

"That's sexual harassment!" Lucy burst out angrily. "You can't do this to us! Freed, take a stand and….."

Lucy trailed off as she realised that the mistletoe wasn't the only one in the guild (no surprise there, last year Mira went as far as putting some up in the bathroom) and they were all trapped with Freed runes. Not only that but Freed was trapped in his own trap with Laxus of all people…..it wasn't going well seeing as Freed seemed to be dying of a nosebleed and Laxus was ignoring him with his headphones firmly placed over his ears.

Lucy scanned to look for help. Erza was nowhere to be seen, Wendy was trapped under mistletoe with Romeo, and they were both blushing brightly, Lisanna was stuck with Bickslow (not that they seemed to notice they were too busy playing with Bickslow's babies), Elfman and Evergreen were hurling abuse at one another under their own mistletoe, Alzack and Bisca were being all gooey and romantic, and as for Gray….

"GRAY-SAMA!"

"Gah!" Gray cried out as Juvia tackled him onto the floor and directly under one of the rune-trapped mistletoes. "Not again!" he whined. "Juvia, plea-hmmph!"

Lucy raised an eyebrow. For someone who had been about to argue against kissing under the mistletoe, Gray was kissing Juvia back rather enthusiastically. Too enthusiastically actually…

"Ew!" Natsu grimaced. "We don't have to kiss like that do we?"

"Yes," Mira replied promptly.

"No!" Lucy snapped. "We're not going to kiss at all because someone will help us break free from this. You'll help," Lucy turned her pleading brown eyes to one of her best friends, "won't you, Cana?"

"Of course I will Lucy," Cana smiled sweetly. She staggered forward, carrying barrel of wine with her, and then suddenly tripped under some mistletoe. "Oh no," Cana said with fake innocence, "look, I'm trapped under the mistletoe again." She said with a hint of melodrama. "I will have no choice but to kiss the person I'm stuck with."

"Cana," Lucy sweat-dropped. "You're on your own with a barrel of wine…."

Cana ignored her in favour of 'kissing' the barrel. She even made a kissing noise before she collapsed onto the ground, lifted the barrel up in the air, and began to gulp down the contents….

Natsu, Mira, and Lucy all sweat-dropped at the sight.

Lucy then moved onto find someone else to help but most of the male, senior, members had all vanished, Levy and Gajeel were stoically trying to ignore one another, Gajeel with his guitar, Levy with her book, and both of them with their cheeks bright pink as they were both trapped under the same mistletoe and Jet and Droy were stuck together under a separate piece of mistletoe.

"HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!" They wailed in unison. "LEVY-CHAN!"

They were ignored.

"Fine!" Lucy gave up as she threw her arms in the air. "If we have no choice then I suppose we will have to – hmmph!"

Lucy didn't get to finish her sentence at all as Natsu's lips finally crashed down onto hers. It was a forceful kiss at first but when Lucy unwittingly pressed her lips in retaliation, Natsu softened slightly and moved gently against her as his hands gently moved from their tight grip on her arms to stroke her shoulder and then cup her face. Lucy responded by wrapping her arms round his neck and deepening the kiss just a little bit.

They broke apart when breathing became rather important and Natsu grinned stupidly. "Free at last!"

"Yeah," Lucy agreed breathlessly, "free at last."

"Let's get a drink!" Natsu grabbed her hand. "And some food! I'm starving!"

"How can you be starving?" Lucy asked giddily, she felt a little light-headed and for some reason there were butterflies in her stomach. "You ate all what was left in my fridge!"

Natsu and Lucy barely took three steps away when Gray went crashing into Natsu (he tripped over Gajeel in his attempt to escape Juvia's fifty-eight attempt of trapping him under some mistletoe) and the pair of them stumbled under the mistletoe.

Instantly the runes activated.

"Ara!" Mirajane gasped excitedly. "You two will have to kiss!"

Both Natsu and Gray's faces turned an ashen white, then a pale sickly green, and then finally a disturbing shade of puce. "LIKE HELL WE ARE!" they roared in unison.

Lucy sighed as she realised the two most stubborn people were trapped under bewitched mistletoe which won't let them out until they kissed…..and they were in front of the only exit of the guild.

It was a loooooooooooooooooooooong night.
