"Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, look!" Nashi cried out ecstatically as she bounced out of her bedroom towards him. "Look what Mummy did to my hair!"

Natsu almost choked on his juice when he took in his daughter's hair. Usually Nashi wore it in high pigtails held tightly by elastic bands but today was different, today her long, unmanageable. Bushy hair fell past her tiny little shoulders apart from two small sections which were tied up in smaller pigtails with some very familiar blue ribbons.

Natsu tried desperately to hide his horror with a smile but it must have come out as a grimace as Nashi's face fell a little bit. "It's very nice," Natsu tried to reassure her, "but….erm….well I don't know if they suit you."

Nashi's face fell completely at that and Lucy was instantly at her side, arm wrapped round protectively before she shot a deadly glare at Natsu. "Why?" Lucy snapped. "What's wrong with her having ribbons in her hair?" she continued angrily. "You liked mine."

Natsu had always liked Lucy's ribbons. That was the problem, he knew. Nashi might only be four years old but that won't stop some horrible, stupid, little boy from taking her away from him one day, and then he'll like Nashi's ribbons the same way Natsu liked Lucy's.

He would like how they would smell exactly like the beautiful blonde girl he kept having weird feelings for. He would then like how silky they felt against his fingers and how soft and gentle they were when he rubbed his cheek against them. He would then take to pressing his lips against the soft fabric and wonder if this would be how her lips feel like against his. And then that's when the fondling the ribbons behind Lucy's back turned into outright stealing as it will with this mysterious boy and Nashi's own ribbons.

It would start with one, snatched out of one of her many pretty little boxes. The one Natsu took the first ribbon from had apparently been a present from Cancer, it had his symbol painted on in blue. And then the next one will be grabbed quickly from the tree branch that tore it out of her, and she'll be too distracted with her whinging and complaining ("Why can't we just get the train, Natsu?") to notice. Then he'll use the distraction of another guild brawl to pull one out of her hair and end up being punched by Gray of all people because he gets side-tracked at what a lovely golden waterfall her hair makes, and then he'll just steal them every opportunity to take one from her because they all stop smelling like her far too quickly for his liking. In the middle of a battle, when she is half asleep on her desk, ink splattering her face, or even while she's bathing, he'll quickly rummage through her clothes in order to steal that all too precious piece of silk.

It got to the point that Lucy stopped wearing ribbons altogether and then after Tenrou, she started to wear her hair pigtails using elastic bands to keep them in place while announcing she can no longer afford to keep replacing her constantly vanishing ribbons.

It was a very dark day for Natsu indeed.

But he was not going to explain the fact he was a perverted teenage boy and one day there will be a perverted teenage boy in her life, to his four year old daughter. Instead he struggled to find a different but truthful explanation. "I just have a….different association" he couldn't help but grin at his cleverness there, "with ribbons than anyone else."

Nashi scrunched her nose up in confusion while Lucy's lips twitched in amusement. "Association?" she repeated as she raised an eyebrow at him. "That's a big word for you."

"I listen to you" Natsu muttered sulkily, "but the point is, do you remember the last time you wore ribbons?"

By the last time he actually meant one of the many last times. Once all the trouble with Zeref and his demons were finally over, Natsu and Lucy fell into a relationship quite easily, and before he knew it she was moving in with him…..but moving in required cleaning his house out, and it was while they were cleaning when Lucy discovered just exactly where her ribbons had been disappearing too.

He had thought Lucy was going to get furious and scream at him before Lucy Kicking him across the forest, but instead she had a weird look on her face that made him babble the truth faster than anything before she silenced him with a kiss. And then that kiss turned into another kiss, a more heated and passionate one, and then that turned into full out snogging with some stripping (Happy loudly announced he was leaving as soon as Lucy's shirt vanished), and then suddenly Natsu found himself tied to the bed with Lucy's ribbons as she straddled him and told him to be prepared to be punished.

(And now he understood why Virgo kept asking for punishment.)

And since then it had kinda became a thing with them. The last time they used it had only just been last week when Nashi went to a sleepover at the Redfoxes and they had the house to themselves, and Natsu completely took the advantage by tying his wife up to their bed.

Lucy's face turned a furious crimson that could almost rival Erza's hair. "Oh God!" she groaned quietly.

"Exactly what you said the l-ouch!" Natsu yelped as Lucy elbowed him in the stomach. Hard. He was going to have a bruise there for days now. "Lucy!" he whined indignantly.

"Not in front of Nashi," Lucy's eyes flashed dangerously. "I see your point now," she said in a much louder and falsely cheerful voice. "Nashi, sweetie, what your moron of a father-"

"Oi!"

"- is trying to say," Lucy continued as if she hadn't insulted him, "is that he doesn't think blue suits you."

"Is he?" Nashi asked sceptically.

"Yes," Lucy stressed with a nod, "and therefore we're going to take these away and I'm going to buy you brand new ribbons in any colour you want."

"Yay!"

Much to Natsu's horror, they ended up shopping for new ribbons which had not been the point of Natsu's argument against the idea of Nashi wearing ribbons, and Lucy knew it. He scowled the whole time Nashi carefully picked out her brand new pink ribbons ("Too match Daddy!") and scowled even more as Lucy re-did Nashi's hair in order to put them in.

"For God sake, Natsu, relax," Lucy rolled her eyes and elbowed him lightly as their daughter ran off to show her new ribbons off to her friends. "Nashi is four years old. I doubt there is a perverted Dragon Slayer just waiting to steal her pink ribbons to masturbate to them." Natsu flushed at that but before he could protest his younger self's innocence, Lucy carried on. "And if I do see one lurking around I'll leave the corpse for you to do what you like to it."

Natsu couldn't help but smirk at that. Lucy was both terrifying and sexy as hell when she was being a ferociously, over-protective mother, it was one of the many things he loved about her…

Lucy might be right about no perverted Dragon Slayers lurking around (not that he had ever lurked around, no matter what Lucy said) but she was wrong about boys in general as later that day Natsu's eyes caught Gray's irritating, snotty, little brat pull out Nashi's hair ribbon, sniffing it curiously as his cheeks flushed pink, and then stuffing it into his pocket.

(Accidentally on purposely tripping the brat up was well worth the punch in the nose Gray gave him but it probably wasn't worth being forced to sleep on the sofa later that night especially since he couldn't get the image of Lucy and her ribbons out of his head.)
