A/N: Not all medical procedures or the way hospital administration happens in this story may be completely accurate. They are simply for the dramatic purpose of the story. However, basic medical information is accurate and fully researched. I just changed procedures for dramatic affect. No harm is intended. Thank you, Lady Dragonsblood.
Adam opened the door from the garage to the kitchen. He was greeted by the laughter of his children as they sat at the kitchen table with Dean and ate their supper. Ida had made meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, green beans and rolls. Adam reset the security system.
"Daddy is home!" Janice announced when she saw Adam come in.
Adam smiled and went to his children. He hugged and kissed them. "Yes, I am. That looks good."
"You didn't kiss Uncle Dean." Jade spoke firmly.
Adam shook his head with a smile. He went around and kissed Dean. "Hello. Thanks for staying." He sat down in his usual chair, that happened to be next to Dean.
"No problem. Keep feeding me like this and I won't ever go home." Dean gave Adam a wink.
Ida brought Adam a plate loaded with food. "Here you go, enjoy." She gave Adam a motherly smile and pat on the head.
"Thank you, my dear Ida. So how was school. Jordan first." Adam asked with a bite of food.
Both Adam and Dean intently listened as each child told about their day at school. Dean was impressed at how polite the brothers and sisters were with each other. They didn't interrupt or tease. It was proof that Adam was an excellent parent.
Ida served pecan pie for dessert. Dean ate two pieces. "Oh boy, I will need double time at the gym. Thank you, Miss Ida. It was delicious."
"I will make a meatloaf sandwich for your lunch tomorrow I will send it with Adam. Now, lets clean up. It's trash night." Ida took over and waved Adam and Dean out of the kitchen. Adam lead Dean to the family den, where the kids played.
Dean and Adam sat down on the couch. "Did you and Seth solve the problems of the world?" He put his arm around Adam and pulled the blond close.
Adam laid his head on Dean's shoulder. "Yes, all the problems are solved. This is nice. I will be miserable when you're not here." He snuggled closer.
"Me too. But, it is what it is. Now, hush. I don't want to think about going home. You sure have taught your children how to behave at the table." Dean stated with a kiss to Adam's temple.
Adam chuckled softly. "Oh, they have their moments. More than one dinner roll has been thrown." He looked when his children came running into the den.
"All our chores are done. May we watch the Muppet Show now?" Janice asked with hope.
Adam nodded. "Yes, for thirty minutes, then baths and homework."
"Uncle Dean, will you read to us, please?" Jade asked.
Dean looked at Jade. "Probably not tonight, lioness. I will have to go home soon."
Jade pouted. "Why? Daddy, Uncle Dean could live here with us. There is plenty of room."
"Yeah! Yes! Please!" Janice, James and Jordan spoke at once. The television was long forgotten.
Adam looked at his children. "Jade, Uncle Dean has his own house. I am sure there will be lots of other times he will stay and read to you."
"But, he could live here. Then when you have to work at night, he will be here." Jade presented another point of view.
Adam looked at Dean as if to say "Help me!" He was sure they were not ready to live together; yet.
Dean honestly did not know what to say. "Um..." He looked at Adam as if to say "Help me!"
James spoke up. "Leave it, Jade. Come on, the Muppet's are on." He gently nudged his sister and nodded to the television. Jade frowned but turned around to watch.
Dean nudged Adam and indicated to get up. "You four behave. I will be right back." Adam stood. Dean followed Adam out of the room. They went down the hall to the more adult living room. Adam turned on the small Tiffany lamp and sat down on the long, leather couch. Dean joined him.
"Sorry. I just wasn't sure how to answer without upsetting Jade. She actually made a good point." Dean shrugged.
Adam thought back to his conversation with Seth. "It goes with what Seth said. As crazy and maybe as so stupid as it sounds, the heart knows what the heart wants. Those kids want you here, so do I. I know we've only been a couple for five minutes, but why not? You could have that room that adjoins mine. Maybe it's a way to see if we even could live together. Am I being crazy, and so stupid … or even selfish. You have your own home and your own ways. Well, we said we would be honest with each other. So?" He decided Seth was right. Sometimes, the heart actually knew more than the brain.
Dean rubbed his chin. "You really want me to move in? It's not just a reaction to the kids?" He still wasn't sure what to think. Was it too soon? Did it matter?
Adam nodded. "My talk with Seth really cleared my head of some fears about agreeing to be your boyfriend so quickly. Anyway, he basically said, things happen that present opportunities. Yes, I would love to have you move in with me and the children. However, if it's not what you want, it won't matter to us, as a couple. I won't be mad or upset. It's huge deal to leave a nice, quiet condo and move into a huge house with four loud children, a stupid blond and a live in housekeeper. You have to decide for you, not me and not the children." Adam ended with a firm nod of his head.
Dean rubbed his entire face with his hands. "There is nothing I would like more. At least to try to see if it does work out between us. I do think it is best for me to have my own room. Everyone needs a space that is just theirs. Seth can be a very wise man. It was partly why Roman fell in love with him. Seth is also blunt and to the point. So yes, I formally accept your offer to move in. What will Randy say? Maybe you should speak to him first?" Dean looked hard at Adam.
Adam shook his head. "Randy and I don't interfere in each others private lives like that. Besides, he can't object, he's got Miz living with him. I keep waiting for the alarm to go off in my head and tell me this is wrong… it's not going off. I agree about your own space. So, I will give you a set of keys, you know the code so… welcome to your new home." Adam pounced on Dean and kissed him with all the joy he felt in his heart.
Dean deepened the kiss. He was just as happy. A little voice called out. "They are kissing!" Jade ran back down the hall yelling to her siblings.
Adam laughed over Dean's lips. "Are you sure you're ready to call this asylum home?"
"More than. Maybe we'd better go ask them what they think?" Dean asked with a slap to Adam's ass. The couple got up. Hand in hand they went to other living room.
The children still watched television. Dean and Adam sat back down on the couch. Adam looked at his watch. "Ten more minutes, then baths."
"Okay, daddy." James spoke. The four were caught up in the end of the show.
Dean looked at Adam and shrugged with a laugh. Suddenly the television was more important. Dean winked at Adam, then gave a loud stretch with a yawn.
"'Well, I guess I'd better head for home." Dean spoke in a rather dramatic tone.
Adam played along. "Okay. I will walk you out, then it's bath time for lions and monkeys."
Jade turned around. "But, I thought… I heard…. um..." She'd just said too much.
Adam arched his brow at his daughter. "Jade Mary Orton, were your listening at the door, when Uncle Dean and I were talking?"
Jade hung her head. "Yes, daddy. I'm sorry, I know it was wrong. It's… daddy, when Uncle Dean is here, you're so happy. We all love it when he is here. I'm sorry, daddy. I won't do it again."
Adam inhaled. How could he be truly mad. Still as a father, he had to. "I forgive you, but I have told you, and warned you before about sneaking and listening when you shouldn't. Seven minutes in the corner, now. If you do it again, you will be grounded to your room. Am I understood, Jade Mary?" He was stern as he stood and pointed to the corner.
"Yes, daddy. I am sorry. Sorry to you too, Uncle Dean. I… spoiled… I'm… sorry." Jade let a few tears roll down as she stood in the corner and faced the wall.
"You three, upstairs for baths. I will be up shortly." Adam spoke to his other children with a parental smile.
Janice, Jordan and James started to leave. Adam spoke again. "Wait, please. Do you really want Uncle Dean to stay here? It wouldn't be just the five of us anymore. Daddy has always taught you to be honest and to always tell the truth. It is a big thing that could change everything. James?" Adam smiled at his children and sat down next to Dean on the couch.
James looked at his daddy. "We would like it very much. Uncle Dean makes us laugh and he listens to us, he helps us… others… ignored us..."
Adam pulled James in. "I know daddy made mistakes before. I am sorry. So, Uncle Dean living here would make you all happy?"
"Very much, daddy. We may only be seven years old, but you have smiled and laughed more..." James ended with a shrug. He didn't understand everything, but he understood Dean was a good thing.
Adam chuckled softly. "Sometimes, you four act so adult, I forget you are only seven. Well, I am sure you will be happy to hear, Uncle Dean is going to stay with us. It's just a trial, to see if he can stand the five of us. So, do you all agree?"
Three children erupted in cheers and swarmed both Adam and Dean with hugs and kisses.
Jade spoke but didn't dare turn around. "I… didn't wreck… it?" Her voice was filled with emotion.
Adam glanced at his watch. Seven minutes had just about passed. "Come here, Jade." He held his arms out as Jade ran to him. Father and daughter hugged tightly.
"No baby, you didn't wreck it. Jade darling, you must not eavesdrop. It is very rude. Do you understand?" Adam was the firm parent again.
Jade nodded. "Yes, daddy. I won't drop eaves ever again. Uncle Dean, I'm sorry. I'm happy. You make our daddy smile. We will try not to make you crazy." She hugged Adam and Dean. She was a very happy little lioness.
The children then hurried off to take their baths. Adam got up to help the children, but looked at Dean.
"Is this a dream? Are you actually going to live with us?" Adam looked at Dean with confusion.
Dean pulled Adam into his arms as he too stood. "No, it's not and yes, I am. Adam, I couldn't have gone home. I am miserable when I am not with you or the children. I will tell you something. My grandparents met on a Monday, and married that Wednesday. They were happily married for nearly sixty five years. Adam, I don't just care for you, I love you. Maybe I am being stupid, but, you were right; the heart knows what the heart wants." Dean pulled Adam in for a kiss, filled with his newly professed love for the blond.
Adam pulled back from the kiss. "Dean… I… can't say it yet. Don't hate me… I have to be a million percent sure… I'm sorry." He cared deeply for Dean, but, Adam could not say the "love" word; yet.
"Baby, you don't have to say it until you're ready to say it, if you ever want to say it. I just wanted you to know how I feel. I want you to understand. I want to be here. Now, show me my room and check on the kids." Dean gave Adam another kiss with a smile.
"I'm glad you're here." Adam led Dean upstairs. He was still in a bit of shock. He was thrilled Dean would be there all the time, but worried it was much, much too fast.
On the way, they checked on the children. The boys had one bathroom, the girls another. Usually each set of twins bathed together, to play in the water.
When they finished with the kids, Adam showed Dean the room next to his. Adam clicked on the light, switch. Dean inhaled.
"Wow, Adam, this is fantastic." Dean loved the huge king sized, four poster bed of dark walnut. There was a massive six drawer dresser with a mirror attached, and a matching eight drawer high, chest of drawers. A solid oak blanket chest sat at the end of the bed. The room had a sitting area with a fireplace. There was a huge, walk in closet.
"This door, joins my bathroom. I'll have to unlock it from my side. When the house was built, this was the husband's room, he wanted his own space. Guess that's the way it was back then. I used it last, when Randy and I separated. After he moved out, I took his old room. I just like it better. Sorry there is no TV, Randy took it. You can do what ever you want. Feel free to make the place totally yours. Dean… will you give up your condo?" Adam was pleased that Ida always kept the room clean and well dusted.
"No, not yet. I mean, if this doesn't work… I have a place. I won't move everything. If it does work out, I will sublet my condo, I own it. It will be a nice income to add to my savings. I'll get Ro to help me move my stuff. Just the basics. We can do it tomorrow. Yes, back then after a certain time, like after no more children could be conceived, couples took separate rooms and beds. Glad that tradition has changed. I'll have to borrow some… no, wait, my bag is still in the car." Dean smiled at Adam, the room felt… right.
"Don't let me forget to give you keys and a garage opener. Just remember, always and I mean always set the alarm system when you leave or come in." Adam was still in shock. He shook himself when Janice called for him.
"Make yourself at home." Adam gave Dean a kiss, then went to check on his daughter.
Dean went and sat down in a very comfortable reading chair in the sitting area. There were two such chairs and a leather, three seat sofa. A large walnut end table sat at each end of the sofa, and there was one between the two reading chairs. The fireplace was small, but would be cozy in the winter.
All the leather was a rich, dark brown and the wood of the furniture was the same dark walnut. The drapes were deep blue. It was very much like the adult living room. Dean felt like he was finally home. He liked his condo, but it was a place to eat and sleep. This was a home, a real home.
Once Adam had the children do their homework, he and Dean went downstairs. Ida puttered about in the kitchen.
When Adam broke the news to the housekeeper, Ida was pleased. "It will be nice to have you here. You have brought smiles and laughter into the house. Thursday, is laundry day. Just use the hamper in Adam's bathroom. I am so happy." Ida grinned and gave Dean's face a motherly pat.
Adam unlocked the spare key box on the wall, by the door to the garage. He took a ring of four keys and a key fob out of the box and locked it back.
"Here are your keys, and this opens and closes the garage. Well, I guess this makes it official." Adam handed Dean the keys and the fob.
Dean took them, and gave Adam a kiss. "Thank you. I'll go get my bag and pull the car in. You just do, whatever it is you do. We will work things out. I won't change my routine much, and neither should you. We will work together… to make it work." Dean gave Adam another kiss. Adam released the security alarm and opened the door for Dean.
Dean went out to bring his car into the garage. Adam turned with a smile. Ida also smiled.
"My boy is so happy. It is a good thing, Adam. Sometimes, when something is right, it moves very fast. If it wasn't meant to be, the opportunity wouldn't have presented itself." Ida spoke with motherly love.
Adam chuckled with a grin. "You and Seth Reigns must be related. He said the same, so did Dean. I care about him, a lot."
Ida put a hand on Adam's arm. "It is okay to fall in love again. Doctor Ambrose isn't Randy. Listen to your heart, son. Those children need to see, that love can come a second time. Now, go to your babies, I have lunches to prepare." She gave Adam a gentle nudge toward the stairs.
Later, Dean read to the children. After the story he and Adam tucked them in. Dean slept in his new room, but knew Adam was close. Adam fell asleep quickly, he knew Dean was close by.
In the morning, Dean was gone. He left a note that he'd gone to meet Roman at the gym as usual. He told Adam he'd see him at the hospital. Adam was glad Dean didn't change everything and went on as normal.
"Here is lunch for you and Doc Dean. Kids, I will pick you up after school." Ida stated as she handed Adam the cloth lunch bag he always used. When Adam and the quads left, Ida set the security system and started her daily housekeeping.
Adam dropped his children off. "No need to tell anyone about Uncle Dean yet, okay? I need to tell your father first, understand?"
"Yes, daddy. Father will be glad you're happy." James spoke for his siblings. With smiled, the quads headed into school.
Adam arrived at the nurse's station fifteen minutes early. Lita greeted him and went over the reports from the previous night.
"… Megan Helmsley is doing well. Keep monitoring her levels every two hours. She is to start her pre-pump set up today. Oh, and you know me, I never gossip, but watch out, Stephanie is on the warpath. Something has happened, but I have no idea what..." Lita halted when Seth came in and joined them.
Seth had a strange look on his face. "What is with all the extra security? Took me ten minutes to get through the gate." He looked as his watch as he sat down.
Adam shrugged. "Must have just started. I got through as usual. Lita said something is up. Oh well, if it concerns us, we will be told." He and Lita went back to their report and Seth pulled the charts so Adam could do the meds.
An hour later, Adam was in the medicine room. No only did he have to prepare medications, he also had to do an inventory.
Adam made notes of the medications that needed to be ordered. He would also know if any medication went missing. It never did. It always pleased Adam that his staff was totally trustworthy.
Adam put the list of meds to be ordered in his pocket. He would call the hospital pharmacy later. Now, he had patients to take care of. He decided to save Megan for last, so he could have a visit with her.
"Here are your meds, Seth. I've got news to tell you later. Nothing bad, I promise." Adam gave Seth his tray of medications with a wink and a smile.
Seth grinned. "You have a new room mate. Roman told me. Dean told him at the gym. Don't worry, I won't say anything." He took the tray, put it on his cart and with a smirk to Adam, Seth left for his wing.
Adam shook his head with a chuckle and went to work. When he got to Megan's room, Shawn was there. He had breakfast for himself and ate at the table under the window. Megan read her science book, and looked happy.
"Hello Meggie Pops. Hey, Shawn. Meg, here is your medication. I need to do a prick test first." Adam opened the corner of a small packet that contained a lancet.
Within seconds, Adam put a drop of Megan's blood on a pad in a quick reader. Shawn had come over to his daughter's bedside. He kissed Megan's pricked finger.
"Looks fine, no adjustments. Okay, ready?" Adam had the syringe with Megan's insulin dose.
Shawn held his daughter's hand. "Ready." Megan stated. Adam quickly administered the shot in Megan's tummy. It was the best and least painless place.
"All finished." Adam broke off the needle and put it in a special container on his cart.
Megan grinned. "You are the best, Adam. No offense to you daddy or to Nancy. How are my monkeys?" She asked as she picked up her book.
"Just fine. They send their love. So later, Doctor A will come start your pre-pump readings. Shawn, you alright? Need anything?" Adam looked at the older man. Shawn looked more worried than he let on.
Shawn sighed and looked at Adam. "I'm alright. I'm fine. The Pink Ladies take good care of me. Hunter will be here when he can. Some new murder case, a big one." They had gone back over to the table under the window.
"I'm sure he will be alright. Call if you need me. I'll come back with Dean later. Shawn, she is doing fine. See how much better it is when her insulin can be adjusted. That's what the pump will do. You'll see, Shawn. It is the right thing." Adam gave Shawn a soft smile.
Shawn nodded. "I know. It's so hard to see her suffer. I could take it, if her heart was healthy. I know she is in the best possible hands. Go to work, we will be fine." He smiled at Adam.
Adam gave Shawn a hug, then went to Megan. "Keep daddy calm. See you later Meggie Pops."
Megan laughed. "I will, Adam. See you."
Adam took his cart to the med room. He locked the door and went to the nurse's station. He frowned. Dean, Stephanie, and John Cena stood at the desk. No one said anything, but anger glared on the faces of the two physicians and on the face of Stephanie McMahon.
"But you can't do that. We have very sick children here. There is one patient who needs an insulin pump and we don't have one in the pharmacy. They are calibrated to the patient. It is not a stock item. Oh Adam, you have have the inventory. How are the supplies in the med room?" Dean turned his attention to Adam. There was zero trace of boyish, impish Dean. This was full on Doctor Dean Ambrose.
Adam pulled the note for the inventory out of his pocket. "We need several things." He handed the list to Dean.
Dean quickly scanned the list. "Go down there personally and get these, now. Double it if you can. The hospital has suddenly decided to break their supply contract… and no other company wants to step in to take over. Go, now." Dean didn't yell, but somehow, his voice echoed like thunder.
"Yes, Doctor Ambrose." Adam gave a nod and headed for the elevator. He got on and headed down to the first floor where the in house pharmacy was located.
Thoughts churned in Adam's mind. What had happened. Orton Pharmaceuticals supplied the hospital. Why would St. Luke's suddenly break the contract. Why wouldn't another company step up to take over. The hospital was a good customer. Something just wasn't right.
When Adam got to the pharmacy, he was greeted by a very frantic staff. "I need these things, double what you can. Sick children are counting on this medication." Adam handed the list to the Pharmacist.
"I will do what I can. Just wait." The man grabbed the list and a plastic tote box.
As Adam waited, more nurses came to the do the same. Adam was glad he'd gotten there first. All the patients needed the medicine, but to him, the children came first. He knew that it was probably selfish, but at that moment, Adam didn't care.
The pharmacist handed Adam the tote. "Here, I doubled what I could. I hope this gets resolved. I was just about to place a huge order."
Adam held tight to the tote. "Thank you. So do I. We have a patient that needs an insulin pump. Thanks again, good luck." He put the heavy tote on a cart and headed for the elevator.
When Adam got back to the children's ward, he wheeled the cart to the med room. He would stock it later. He locked the door and returned to the nurse's station. Seth sat in his chair and looked at Adam as the blond sat.
"They went to Vince McMahon's office. Adam, do you know anything? Did Randy say anything?" Seth arched his brow, this was extremely serious.
Adam shook his head. "No, I haven't spoken to Randy since he brought the kids home on Sunday. He never talked business with me when we were married. Randy wouldn't talk to me about it now. From the little I got, the hospital canceled the contract not Randy."
Seth nodded. "Sorry, honey. I didn't mean to imply anything. But, it's bad. What about Megan Helmsley?"
"What about Megan?" Hunter asked as he stood at the station. A frown marred his face.
Adam stood. "Nothing bad, Hunter. I promise. The pharmacy is having a problem. It might take a day or two longer to get the pump. It will be alright. Meg is doing great. Shawn will be glad to see you." He explained with a calm tone and was matter of fact. Together they walked toward Megan's room.
Hunter trusted Adam, so he turned his focus. "I'm only here on a short break. Huge murder case. The son of some Mexican mob boss. Oh, I didn't say that, Adam. Please? You know… you were my sounding board." He was glad no one else had heard him.
Adam gave Hunter a gentle pat on the back. "Never heard a thing. You can still talk to me you know. We haven't stopped being friends. Now smile, Shawn needs it." He gently nudged Hunter into Megan's room.
"Thanks, Adam. I truly hope you are happy with Dean. Talk to you later." Hunter smiled at Adam and entered the room.
Adam went back to the nurse's station. He still had to chart the morning meds. Five minutes later, Seth joined him, and looked upset.
"Martin Miller had to go to isolation. Doctor Cena said Martin will probably lose his leg." Seth gave a sigh and grabbed the charts for his wing.
"Poor little guy. Doctor Cena was afraid of that. Still, he can lead a good life. If anyone can keep Martin motivated, it's you and Doctor Cena. I'm worried, Seth. What if they can't get Megan's pump. It's getting worse with her needle angst and her heart." Adam too, sighed. It had taken so long to finally convince Shawn to agree to the pump, now this had to happen.
Adam and Seth quickly worked on their charts. Both looked up when they heard the distinct "clack-clack" of Stephanie McMahon. She, Dean and John were headed their way.
Adam and Seth exchanged a glance. They knew it was not going to be a good day. When they got to the desk, Adam and Dean exchanged a glance. For once, Adam couldn't tell what Dean thought.
Stephanie spoke. "Until matters are settled, we are taking no new patients. New patients will be sent to the county hospital. There is no other choice." She spoke firmly, but there was something behind it. But was it sorrow or… perhaps fear?
Seth spoke up. "Can you tell us what has happened? To turn away patients..." He let his voice fade. County was a good hospital, but they also lacked a lot.
Stephanie looked at Seth. "We have a problem with Orton Pharmaceuticals. We had to break the contract. I can't go into details." She glared at Adam.
Adam ignored the look, but responded. "What about Jericho Drug and Supply? They were always very good and the quality was excellent." He honestly didn't care who supplied the hospital, as long as someone did.
Stephanie's brow arched. "Not very loyal to your husband… oh sorry… ex-husband are you?" She paused and squared her shoulders and spoke again. "Adam, I do apologize. I don't mean to take it out on you. I'm just… never mind. Father and I are working on it. Just do the best you can. Hopefully, we can clear this up soon. I'll be in father's office." She turned and "clacked" to the elevators.
Dean spoke. "Sorry, Adam. She is under a lot of pressure. She couldn't tell us anything, but, there is more to this. Well, it's up to Administration to figure it out. Look, John and I have decided to keep this here, between the staff. There is no need to panic parents and children. Adam, let's go see Meg. John, you and Seth handle your wing."
Adam pulled Megan Helmsley's chart, and followed Dean down the hall. "Dean..." Adam briefly explained what he'd told Hunter about the pump.
Dean smiled. "You did the right thing, baby...er… nurse." He gave Adam a quick peck on the lips and a wink.
When they got to Meg's room, Hunter was about to leave. "Oh, do I need to stay?"
"No, Hunter. We are going to start the readings for the pump. Nothing major, just boring for Meggie Pops." Adam explained with a grin.
Hunter nodded. "Then I will get back to work." Hunter went over to the bed and kissed Shawn. "Not sure when you will see me, but I will call for sure." He then kissed his daughter's cheek. "Keep daddy sane. Love you, my angel." He kissed her again. Hunter gave Shawn another kiss. "I love you, Shawnie."
"Love you, Hunt. Call when you can." Shawn returned his husband's kiss. Hunter left his family with a sigh.
Dean and Adam had moved to the corner of the room to let Hunter say his goodbyes. When Hunter left, they turned to their patient.
"Hey there, Meg. Ready to get started?" Dean sat on the edge of Megan's bed. Adam stood next to Dean, chart and pen in hand. Shawn stood on the other side of his daughter's bed.
Dean gave Megan an extensive exam. Adam wrote down everything quickly and accurately. Dean finished with a smile.
"Now, after lunch, Nurse Adam will hook you up to a computer. It will monitor your insulin levels. It will be attached to you like a big belt. Leave it on, all the time, even when you shower, it's water proof. I need to know how your insulin levels react to your movements. Then, the information will be transferred to the pump. It will give you more when you need it, less when you don't. Understand?" Dean spoke frankly to the 15 year old.
"Yes, I understand. No more shots. I'll have a port. I understand that, but where?" Megan looked at Dean like an adult.
Dean pointed to a place on Megan. "Right here, just on your hip. It won't get in the way of anything. The pump is about the same size as your cell phone. Ninety nine point nine nine percent of the time, you won't even remember you have it. Any more questions?" He stood with a grin. Megan was a very smart young lady.
"Nope. Daddy? How about you?" Megan looked over at Shawn. She was glad that he looked less pensive.
"When? Hunter said something about a delay?" Shawn arched his brow at the doctor and nurse. He asked as a parent, not a family friend.
Dean looked at Shawn. "There is a little issue at the pharmacy. It might take a day or two more than we had hoped. If nothing else, I will personally go out and find one. I promise, Shawn. I will not let Megan down." He gave Shawn a very firm nod of his head.
"You are a good man, Dean. I am glad you and Adam… well, it's very good." Shawn grinned at Dean and Adam.
Adam looked at Dean. Dean nodded "yes".
"Well, I have something to tell you. Dean is going or rather has moved into the guest room. We're… trying it… the kids are overjoyed and I am happy too." He looked at Shawn with expectation.
Shawn smiled softly. "That is good. I hope it works. What am I saying! I am so happy and pleased for you, both of you! It will be nice to know you aren't alone in that huge house. Now we just need to get Roman and Seth into that house next door to you. Oh, I am so pleased!" Shawn went and hugged both Adam and Dean. Meg was just as happy and hugged Adam and Dean as she got out of the bed.
Two hours later, Dean, Adam and Seth sat in the break room and ate their lunch. The radio played in the background. Dean took a bite of his lunch.
"Ida makes the best sandwiches. She is going to spoil me." Dean took another bite.
"… the man, Alberto Del Rio, was the son of a high ranking Mexican family. His murder..."
Seth and Dean looked when Adam's coffee cup fell from his hand and shattered on the floor.
