Summary: Based on a Fairy Tail I once read as a child, I think it was called the Swans Brothers. The girls are all at a loss when the boys all get turned into swans.
Pairings: Implied Natsu/Lucy, implied Gray/Juvia, implied Gajeel/Levy, implied one-sided Jet/Levy/Droy, Alzack/Bisca, Sisterly Erza/Boys, and lots and lots of other friendship and pairings implied.
YouTube Prompt: Fairy Tail tribute to 'Sing' by My Chemical Romance.
There was a loud bang and suddenly the guild filled with smoke. Lucy almost fell to her knees as she coughed loudly. "Natsu!" she choked out. "Happy! Where are you?!" She instantly realised what a stupid question that was as poor Happy and Charle had been kidnapped by Lily who wanted to do 'Team Exceed' exercises….whatever that meant. She coughed a little more and tried again. This time leaving out Happy. "Natsu!" she called out. "Where are you?"
"Lucy?" Cana coughed weakly. "Is that you?"
"Yeah," Lucy coughed in reply.
"Damn," Cana swore, "I can't see a single thing. What the hell was that old hag's problem?"
They had just been attacked by some old witch that wanted revenge on Fairy Tail, she had sworn they would be all cursed with the worst curse there is, and then suddenly made the room fill with smoke making it very hard for anyone to see a single damn thing. The worst bit was that Lucy can hear some of the girls somewhere but she hasn't heard from any of the boys yet, especially Natsu.
Eventually the smoke cleared and Lucy flushed as she realised her and Cana were so close together that you'd think they had never heard of personal space. She took a couple steps back and took in the fact that Erza was safe as she rubbed Wendy's back soothingly, Mirajane and Kinana were behind the bar, Laki seemed almost unbothered as did Evergreen, Bisca had been protecting Asuka from all the smoke, Juvia seemed totally lost, and Levy was still clutching her book fearfully as if it might get damaged by the smoke. Lisanna, however, sat in the middle of the floor looking completely bewildered as she was surrounded by…
"Oh my God!" She cried out. "The boys!"
Cana's mouth dropped open in horror. "Swans?!" she yelped. "That mad old bat turned them into swans?!"
"Oh how lovely!" Mirajane cried as she clasped a cheek with one hand and stared at the swans admiringly. "I was worried Elfman would be turned into a cow or something equally unpleasant. I had no desire to clean up after his muck if he was a cow but as a swan, well I can live with that," she shrugged, "at least he'll be cleaner than he was as a human."
"Mira-nee," Lisanna sweat-dropped.
"Mira, this isn't a good thing," Bisca said exasperated, "what on earth am I going to do? I can't be married to a swan!"
"Daddy is pretty now," Asuka cooed as she petted Alzack. "Gotta hide him from all the hunters."
Out of the mouth of babes….Lucy was suddenly filled with horror as she could easily imagine Natsu and Gray and Gajeel and all her other guy friends being shot dead. Their beautiful white feather painted crimson….
"What are we going to do?!"
"Oh my God!"
"By my sword I swear that I will smite down any hunter that dares take a gun to my previous family!"
"Elfman-Nissan!"
"Gray-sama!" Juvia wailed. "Juvia shall protect you from the evil hunters! Juvia will continue to love you no matter what! Even if your beautiful, chiselled, drool-worthy, abs have been replaced with feathers! Juvia will love no other!"
"Erm, Juvia," Evergreen muttered as everyone stopped panicking to watch Juvia with morbid fascination as she clutched a swan in a chokehold to her breasts. "I'm pretty sure that swan isn't Gray. In fact judging by those piercings I would say that's Gajeel."
(There was a swan with stormy grey eyes that suddenly hid further under the table behind Juvia's back. Praying fervently that she wouldn't find him, he didn't want to be strangled on top of being turned into a swan.)
"Am I the only one freaked out that Gajeel still has his piercings?" Levy mused as she petted an out of breath Gajeel-looking Swan who fainted onto her lap. Two other swans had started wailing in a suspiciously Jet-and-Droy-like manner. All the girls went from staring at Juvia to sweat-dropping at Levy. Their boys had just been turned into swans and that's what she's thinking?! "Do we really want the boys turned back?" Levy asked as she snuggled into Gajeel's feathers. "I mean it's so quiet and peaceful without them fighting all the time."
"True," Cana agreed, "and they look so beautiful and – ouch!" she shrieked as a swan with a scar over his eye bit her. "Let's kill them with fire! I have a hankering for swan meat!"
"Cana!" all the girls shrieked. "You can't kill them!" Lucy added. "It was just that one that bit you kill it if you must."
The Laxus-Swan glowered at Lucy and she was certain he was promising to make her pay for saying that but he was suddenly attacked by a swan with a strange pink undertone to his feathers that made Lucy sweat-drop.
Even when he was a swan, Natsu had to pick a fight with Laxus.
"Is there a way to cure them?" Laki spoke up. "Because I think if we have to put up with this any longer then Cana's fire suggestion will become appealing."
As she said this serval of the swans had started to fight, one of them had taken to flying around and shitting everywhere (Lucy was fairly certain that one was Bickslow because he babies were following him. Crazy, weirdo….), and the Jet-and-Droy sounding ones were honking so loudly that it was beginning to give her a headache….
"Oh my God! I've never heard to a curse like this before!" Levy shrieked. "What are we going to do?"
"I can't be married to a swan!"
"Elfman! Stop hitting Freed with your wings!"
"Maybe I could cure them?"
"Gray-sama!"
"Someone do something! I refuse to snog a swan!"
"I swear on my life and honour I will not rest until I find a cure for my family!"
"Oh my God! This is it! It's just going to be us and a bunch of swans for the rest of our lives, isn't it? Isn't it?!"
Lucy wanted to scream as she pictured the rest of her life trying to chase a swan out of her apartment. Knowing Natsu he would leave bird droppings and feathers everywhere…..
"Never fear my children," a soft voice spoke over the hysteria which silenced them all. "I have the answer."
The girls all turned round to see a very familiar and well beloved ghost hovering in the air. "Mavis!" they cried delightedly. "Thank God!"
Mavis smile at them warmly. "I wouldn't worry at all," she reassured them, "it's only a silly curse that can easily be broken."
"How?!"
"All they need is a sister to take a vow of silence until she has sewn shirts out of nettle for each single one of them."
"A sister?" Lucy asked. "So Mirajane or Lisanna?"
"Oh no," Mavis said softly, "it has to be someone who they all consider a sister."
"Well that rules me out," Bisca laughed, "I'd be a bit worried if Al thought me as a sister."
"How will we know who they all consider a sister?" Evergreen asked. "I mean any one of them could secretly fancy us, right?"
"Allow me to confer with them telepathically," Mavis smiled, "I shall find out which one they all think as a sister."
The girls all fidgeted impatiently as Mavis and the swans communicated silently. Evergreen played with her nails, Levy tried to read her book but couldn't quite keep her interest in it, Lucy played with the edge of her skirt, and Mirajane kept shooting glances as she nibbled her lip nervously. "It's weird, right?" Cana murmured to Lucy. "Just having her stand there mid-air silently talking to swans?"
Lucy did nothing more than nod in reply as that was when Mavis turned round with another warm, sweet, smile. "It has been decided," She announced, "They have chosen Erza to take the challenge."
"Erza?!"
Half were shocked, after all Erza was terrifying and spent most of her time making the boys cry, several, like Mirajane, were severely offended, after all, surely they would be the better option? Others were just simply dumbfounded.
"Erza," Mavis affirmed.
"Me?" Erza said in awe. "I am the best sister?" Mira made an angry noise and glowered at the Elfman swan (which whimpered pathetically) but didn't argue as she crossed her arms and sulked. "I swear," Erza said solemnly, "on my sword, honour, life, and soul, to keep silent and I make you your nettle shirts." Tears of joy and love rolled down her cheeks now. "I will be the best sister you all think I am!"
"Actually," Mavis mumbled to Lucy (who just happened to be nearest), "It was more of a case that she was the only one they didn't fancy."
Lucy sweat-dropped and decided she really, really, really didn't want to know (and God she hoped the person that fancied was Romeo, otherwise there will be problems), that, and she wasn't going to be the one telling Erza that.
Soon Mavis left to do whatever it was ghosts did and the girls went off to collect nettles which left Erza, sitting silently, trying to learn to sew for her brothers. This was proving to be a very difficult task as the boys took to fighting one another again and their honking was beginning to get on her nerves as her forehead began to twitch.
Then the slightly pink swan sent the grey-eyed swan flying into the back of Erza's head, and that was the last straw.
"THAT'S IT!" Erza broke her vow of silence. "Prepare to die!"
Lucy face-palmed as Levy's mouth dropped open in horror. "Oh my God!" she hissed. "They're doomed!"
