Everyone had stood huddled up together in the wreckage that once been their guild. It had been a whole year since the guild had been disbanded and now they were desperate to have it back, to go home for once and for all.
They all jumped at the sound of stones crunching underfoot, and all turned to see Laxus looking grumpy as ever. "Okay," he coughed awkwardly, unused to having everyone's attention (and not just Freed, Bickslow and Evergreen staring at him in a worshiping manner). "I spoke to Gramps, and he said the guild can get back together-"
"YES!"
Everyone began to cheer and scream their celebration.
"Providing," Laxus shouted over them, "we follow these new rules."
"…new rules?" Gray blinked. "What new rules?!" everyone stiffened at that but then Laxus held up a small roll of parchment and everyone sighed in relief. There wasn't too many new rules. "Oh," Gray said dismissively. "That's no….."
Laxus shook open the roll and the parchment unfurled all across what was left of the guild floor out into the street.
"…..Shit," Gray finally found his voice.
"What?!" Cana shrieked as she read the parchment. "Rule eighty three, Cana is only allowed to drink the evenings and is limited to only one barrel a day. That is so unfair!"
"Oh no!" Juvia wailed. "Rule number sixteen is Juvia is no longer allowed to stalk Gray-sama because it leads to destruction and traumatised girls suing the guild! Juvia is dating Gray-sama now, how can she not stalk him?!"
"Dating?!"
"Juvia," Gray said tiredly, "we've been through this. I'm not ready to date until after I fulfilled my mission-"
"Gray-sama and Juvia are a couple, and that's final!" Juvia clasped her hands over her ears. "Juvia shall hear no more!"
"Oh no!" Mirajane cried out tearfully. "Rule one hundred seventy eight says Mirajane is no longer allowed to match make – but how shall I ensure my friends are in love and having babies?!"
"Oh thank God!" Lucy muttered. "It was exhausting being match-made with virtually every guy in the guild."
"YES!" Several other people cheered far too loudly. "NO MORE INTERFERENCE IN OUR LOVE LIFE!"
Mira's blue eyes widened and began to water. "You….you….don't like my matchmaking?" she whimpered as her bottom lip jutted out into a pout. "Oh my…."
"No!" Several people cried out. "Don't cry Nee-san!" Elfman added as his own eyes began to tear up. "You know we can't stand it when you cry!"
"Mira," Lucy said quickly as she clasped her friend's hand, "we're sorry, we were wrong, we love it when you match make us, it's so much fun, and sweet, and romantic."
"Really?" Mira asked hopefully. Everyone nodded quickly and muttered their agreement in a falsely enthusiastic voice. "Oh how wonderful!" stars appeared in Mira's eyes. "I shall immediately start working on all of your love matches!"
Crap baskets, everyone thought as sweat-drops appeared on their heads. They literally just doomed themselves, didn't they? "Look at this," Natsu scowled, "no more truth and dare, no more murder mystery parties, no more drinking games, no more pranks, no more – has Gramps just totally lost his sense of fun?!"
"He's spent the last year in debt," Laxus muttered, "and still doing paperwork from nine years ago. I think it drove him over the edge a bit." Everyone smiled sheepishly…..oops? "Anyway, that's not the worse bit," Laxus jammed a thumb at the top of the parchment, "this is. Rule number One. No more brawls especially between Natsu and Gray."
There was a long, horrible, moment of silence as everyone looked at one another.
"….We're screwed, aren't we?" Gray spoke up finally.
"There is no way in hell any of us will follow those rules!" Natsu agreed angrily.
"Speak for yourself," Lucy muttered. "Some of us don't have a problem with following rules."
"This is going to be impossible!"
"What are we going to do?"
"I don't want to go back to living on the streets!"
"This is so unfair!"
Laxus glowered at the parchment for causing so many problems. He looked back at his friends who all nodded encouragingly and then smirked. "Natsu, burn this," he ordered as he flung the parchment away. Natsu happily set the thing on fire which Juvia had to quickly put out before it got too out of hand. "Screw the rules," he declared loudly. "We're Fairy Tail."
And with that, everyone began cheering and partying.
