A/N: I am so sorry this is late! I have been without the internet for nearly a week, after my router box went wacky. I will publish this chapter today, and then hopefully, I will publish the next chapter on Saturday as normal. If I disappear again, just know there is an internet issue and I will be back as soon as possible. Thank you to all who were concerned and messaged me. I also appreciate, so very much, all of you who are reading and enjoying, what I feel is one of my better stories. Thank you again, and have a wonderful and blessed day, all the best, Lady Dragonsblood.
No one In Adam's neighborhood looked twice at the moving truck backed up to Adam's garage. There was a second truck in the driveway of the house next door. Roman and Seth Reigns went back and forth between the two houses. They made sure their conversations made things perfectly clear to anyone who might be listening, from a nosy neighbor or a seasoned criminal.
"Ro, I am going to put things in our guest room." Seth called out to his husband. Roman stood on the steps of their new house.
"Okay. I will see to things here. I'll be over soon to help you unpack." Roman replied. Hunter had told them to make it clear they were going to be guests in Adam's house while they moved in next door. It would explain the reason for the moving truck at Adam's.
Brett DiBiase had been told that Seth and Roman would be moving into Adam's house. Randy had told him Seth would look after Adam and the children when they came home from the hospital. So, he didn't think twice about the moving truck, it was perfectly normal.
Inside Adam's house, Ida Brown was a busy bee. She had shown Jason Reso-Hart and another young man named Kenny Omega the safe room. Ida had dismantled the cots in the small bedrooms. It made room for the hospital type beds that would be set up.
Hunter and Bret both told Ida what was what. Ida agreed and would do whatever they asked of her, especially if it kept Adam and the children safe.
Ida was also happy to have Seth and Roman move in. The house was lonely. She was glad she had her own cozy apartment and not a room in the huge house. Ida also knew Seth would take excellent medical care of Adam and the children.
"I think the children would do better if they were in one room. We can always move the boys later if we have to." Seth spoke to Jason. They were putting one of the beds together.
Jason scratched his head. "It's going to be a very tight fit. Not sure how..." He looked at the small room like a jigsaw puzzle.
Kenny Omega laughed. "One in each corner...like this." He made a quick sketch on a sheet of paper he found in one of the boxes.
Jason laughed. "That's why you're the best. Well, let's get it done." He gave Kenny a slap on the back.
Luckily the beds were easy to set up. By the time the three men finished, it looked like a room at St. Luke's Hospital. Next they set up a queen sized bed in Adam's room.
"Oh Seth, remember, let me know the medications they will need. I can have them here in a few hours, legally. All I ask is, don't ask, because I can't and won't answer." Kenny gave Seth a wink.
Seth held up his hands. "No problem. As long as the medication is good, I don't care how you get it. Did you bring the other supplies?"
"Yes. I'll bring those boxes down next. When you need to resupply, let Jason know." Kenny gave Seth a smile. He thought it was really special of Seth to be there, despite the danger, in his "delicate" condition.
In Stephanie McMahon's office at the hospital, a very important meeting took place. Chris Jericho, Finn Bálor, Drake Younger and Justin Gabriel were present.
Jericho pulled a small box out of the inside pocket of his suit coat. He put the box on Stephanie's desk. "There you go, Miss McMahon. Just what the Doctor ordered. Sorry it took so long, but things in our shipping department are a real mess. Shipments going to wrong places. Items are missing or sometimes more are added. It's like our entire logistic system has decided to...act up." He spoke with a frustration filled tone of voice. His supply chain was in total chaos.
Justin spoke up. "Have you looked into your computer system? Sounds more like a hack job than a logistics problem. Now think, who would benefit from you not being able to make good deliveries?" He arched his brow. Justin didn't care one iota, but the more attention that was focused elsewhere, kept eyes off him. Besides the more fuel on the McMahon-Orton feud the better.
Both Chris and Stephanie looked at Justin. Jericho spoke. "Fuckin' hell, I never thought of that. Fuckin' Orton, it has to be fuckin' Orton. My logistic problems started the day after…any second thoughts I had about getting that...are out the window." He pointed to the box of medication that would bring death to Adam.
"Chris, Justin is probably right. I'll send Drew McIntyre to your office. He is our computer expert. Let him have all the access he needs to your logistics. If Orton can screw with that, he could screw with your accounting department. That could drag in the IRS. That can not happen. We will help you, Christopher. This will be the first step in curing the problem." Stephanie picked up the small box. She held it out for Justin to take. A wicked smile formed on her lips.
"Thank you, Miss Stephanie. I will give Mister McIntyre everything he needs. I can't believe I never thought of Orton being behind it. Mister Gabriel, the McMahon's are lucky to have you on their side. Thank you." Chris gave Justin a nod of respect.
Justin took the box from Stephanie and put it deep in the pocket of the white nurses coat he wore. "Glad to help, Mister Jericho. It just made sense it was Orton...or could be. Drew will find out. Now, I need to discuss the plan. Ma'am? He looked at Stephanie. It was time for Jericho to leave.
Stephanie picked up on Justin's hint. "I'll send Drew this afternoon. Thank you, Christopher. We have things to discuss. Things you don't need to be concerned about. Call me if you need anything."
Chris understood. "I will. Again, thank you. Give that blond bitch an extra jab for me. Good luck." He stood, gave a nod, then left. He honestly didn't want to know the plan. You didn't mess with the McMahon's and live.
When Jericho left, the meeting in Stephanie's office continued. Justin spoke again. "The most vital thing, Finn and Drake can not be anywhere near here, or you either ma'am. I need to be the only faction member in or even near Saint Luke's. If you aren't here, nothing can backfire on you. Understand?" He prayed that Stephanie would agree. He had to be alone.
Drake spoke up. "No, Justin. At least let me be here to help. What if Adam decides to whack you on the head with a bedpan or something? I don't want anything to happen to you." He was firm. Drake was not about to let his lover carry out the plan alone.
"I think Drake is right. We never carry out a plan alone. You never know when you might need backup." Finn spoke just as firmly. It was an unwritten rule, one he always followed. Never act out a plan alone.
Justin could see that Stephanie was about to sway in her decision. He couldn't let that happen. "Ma'am, guys, there is no danger. All Adam will think is he is getting his regular nightly pain shot. There is no reason for him to suspect otherwise. Drake, he doesn't even have a bedpan. I'm helping out on Adam's floor because a couple of nurses called in sick and Adam trusts me. I go in, give him the shot, and go back to my place on the children's ward. No one from our faction will be there when Adam dies. Drake, I know you're worried, but there is no need to be. I will be home and in bed before anyone even knows Adam is dead. I can't be worried, wondering if you and Finn are safe. Finn, this is one time when the plan has to be carried out alone. Please, ma'am." He spoke with absolute passion about his need to be alone.
Stephanie weighed it in her mind. "Alright. Justin will do this alone. He makes very valid points. We not only have to worry about Orton, but the police as well. They will be called to investigate a sudden, unexpected death. We don't want anyone saying they saw any of you hanging around." She spoke firmly, especially to Finn.
Drake nodded. "Never thought of it like that. Justin is right, Finn. We need to be well away from here. Also remember, you told Wade you would go home and rest. Count on me, ma'am. Justin, I will be waiting for you...at home." He gave his lover a wink.
Finn sighed. "Yes, good points, Justin. And you're right, ma'am, we don't need the pigs nosing around. I'll go home after I see Wade at four. Promise me one thing, Justin. Give him a double dose. On for Wade and one for Alberta Maria." He spoke with conviction.
Justin was greatly relieved, but of course, didn't let it show. "Thanks. Now I can move in and out without having to worry about anyone else. I promise, Finn it will be taken care of. Now, I'd better get back to work. I have some things I need to get ready." He looked at Stephanie.
Stephanie nodded. "Very well. Drake, you too. Finn, go wait till you can see Wade. I have my own work to do, like getting Drew to Jericho's. If Orton is screwing with Jericho, he is going to pay even more. Alright gentlemen, you are dismissed. I will report to father. However, he is consumed with trying to find my stupid brother. Good luck, Justin and goodbye Adam." She indicated for the three lieutenants to leave her office. She was already on the phone to Drew McIntyre.
In the hall, Justin, Drake and Finn spoke. "It will be taken care of, Finn. I promise. You tell Wade he will be avenged, tonight." Justin spoke in a low whisper.
Finn grinned. "I will. You're a good, brave man, Justin. We were lucky when you joined us."
"Yeah, we were. Come on, Justin. We've got to go. I'll come see you soon, Finn. When I go on a break." Drake put his hand on the small of Justin's back. Together the couple headed for the children's ward.
Finn headed back to the private waiting room. He smiled as he walked. He'd told Wade how he felt about him. Finn had been extremely happy to learn that Wade felt the same. Finn couldn't wait to give Wade a first, lover's kiss. Finn also felt something that he'd never felt before… a calm in his soul. Finn decided love wasn't a waste after all.
In Adam's room, Dean finished the blond's grooming. He'd brought Adam's hairbrush, pajamas and robe from home. He was going to take Adam to see the children.
"There. You look perfect." Dean stated as he put the hairbrush in Adam's bag.
Adam laughed. "Thanks, babe. When can we go?" He was so anxious to see his babies.
Dean chuckled. "As soon as the wheelchair gets here. Is your brace tight? Remember, you have to be very careful." He spoke with his doctor's voice.
Adam pulled the strap of the brace a bit tighter. It did make his spine feel better. "There, that's better. These new braces are much better. Yes, Doctor. I will be careful, but I am going to hug my babies." He too spoke firmly.
Dean checked the brace for proper placement, it was fine. "You can hug them, but carefully. I told the little lions they had to watch out for daddy's back. Don't be surprised if they are… standoffish. You know it is, kids reactions to things that are different. They might be afraid they will hurt you." Dean again spoke with a Doctor's wisdom.
Adam frowned. "Yes, I know. I've seen it in the wards. It will be alright, I just want to see them. Where is that..." He couldn't finish, a nurse came into the room with a wheelchair.
"Sorry, Nurse Copeland, Doctor Ambrose. We got a little busy. Doctor Batista said to take your time, but not to over do, and not to bend. He will check on you when you get back, or when he is out of surgery." The nurse spoke with a warm smile.
Adam smiled. "It's okay, Jillian. I know how things can get on a ward. I will be good, I promise. Thank you." He spoke nurse to nurse.
Jillian parked the wheelchair next to Adam's bed. Together, she and Dean helped Adam into the chair. With thanks from Dean and Adam, Jillian left. She had many other patients to tend to.
"Comfortable?" Dean asked as Adam adjusted a bit in the wheelchair.
"Yeah. My hips are stiff, but not painful. Okay my chauffeur, take me to my children." Adam laughed. He couldn't wait to see the quads.
Dean chuckled. "As you wish. Off we go." He began to push Adam out of the room.
Justin smiled when the elevator dinged. Adam and Dean emerged. "I know four little people who are going to be very happy to see you. They have asked me twenty times, when will daddy be here. Doctor Cena said you can stay as long as you want."
"I am just as anxious to see them. Justin, thank you. Both Dean and Randy have told me how well you've looked after them." Adam spoke with a huge grin on his face.
Justin ducked his head. "They are a real pleasure. So well behaved and polite. Well, you'd better go see them before they try to sneak out to find you." He gave Adam a wink.
"We're off then. Thanks, Justin." Dean too gave Justin a wink. He pushed Adam down the long hall, to room 151 at the end.
Adam took a deep breath as Dean turned around so he could push the door open with his backside.
"Daddy!" Four little voices cried out as Dean pulled the wheelchair into the room.
"My darlings!" Adam cried out with joy. He held his arms out and waited to be hugged.
Jan was closest. She slipped off the bed and went to Adam. "Hugs are okay? Uncle Dean and dad said we had to be careful."
"Yes, baby Hugs are okay. Come to daddy, darling." Adam spoke softly with love.
Jan hugged Adam. "Oh, daddy." She broke down in tears. Adam hugged Jan tightly.
"It's alright, baby. Everything will be alright. I love you all so much." Adam's voice was filled with love and tears tracked down his own face.
James, Jade and Jordan joined in the hug. Dean quickly swiped the tears from his own eyes. He'd come so close to losing them and that thought scared him.
Dean helped Adam get onto the huge bed. Adm was soon surrounded by his children. Everyone had content smiles on their faces.
"Come on, Uncle Dean. Plenty of room for you too." Jordan patted the space next to his daddy.
Dean laughed. He toed off his loafers and crawled onto the bed. Jade wormed her way in between Adam and Dean. She was now content. For the next hour, daddy and children talked.
"...it will take a while, but soon we will all be better. We must be very thankful that we will be alright." Adam finished with a kiss to each of his children's cheeks as they snuggled close.
"We are, daddy. God looked after us." James spoke with his near adult wisdom.
Dean spoke. "Yes, he did. I don't suppose anyone would like to hear a story?" He'd missed reading to the children. It always made him happy.
"Oh yes, please. Here. The book lady brought her cart yesterday." Jan reached over and got the book of animal stories on the bedside table.
Adam beamed. "I've missed this. Read us a story, please Dean." He almost sounded younger than the children as he looked at Dean.
Dean chuckled, took the book and began to read the first story. "Once upon a time there was a mother pig with three little pigs..." Everyone was soon lost in the story. Love filled the room.
"...the wolf came down the chimney and splash, he fell into the boiling water. That was the end of the big, bad wolf. The little pigs lived happily ever after in their house of bricks." Dean closed the book with a silent laugh.
Adam and the children had fallen into a deep, restful sleep. Dean vowed, that nothing would go wrong later… he just hoped it was an unbreakable vow.
Across town, Seth, Jason and Kenny finished their work. Everything in the safe room was nearly ready. All that was left to do was make the kids beds and bring some things like clothes and toys. Seth, Roman and Ida could take care of those small things.
Kenny Omega hid in the back of the moving truck. Jason, Seth and Roman had a conversation in the driveway. Again, for the benefit of anyone listening.
"It will be late when I bring the next load. I'll just park the truck and help you unload in the morning." Jason spoke, a clipboard in his hands.
Roman made a show of looking at the clipboard. "That's fine. That will be the last of the stuff here. Everything else will go over to our house. Thank you for being so fast. We want to get settled before our friend gets out of the hospital."
In a small, dark blue car down the street, Cesaro laughed. "Little do they know… Adam won't ever be coming home." He and Sheamus had been watching and listening to the activity around Adam's house.
Sheamus laughed as well. "I almost feel bad for Orton's ex-bitch, almost. Hey, we'd better go. About time for the next check by the fool up in the tree."
Cesaro started the car and casually drove away. Brett DiBiase growled. He'd known McMahon's men had been there. There wasn't anything he could do about it, without creating a scene in the neighborhood. Brett also knew, they knew he was there. He had made sure they saw him. He wanted McMahon to know Adam's house was under guard. It was a very dangerous game of cat and mouse.
In the office at the bank, Hunter and Bret looked over some notes they had made.
"So, you've changed your mind again?" Hunter looked at his boss. He was a bit frustrated.
Bret Hart rubbed his face. "Yeah. Hey, I am just as frustrated. But, Omega is right. If Randy knows the truth, he won't react like we need him to. So, as far as Randy is concerned, we say nothing. That's my final order, and I promise, I will not change my mind. Jason said everything is set at Adam's. He's also fairly sure they were watched. He also said, Seth and Roman were perfect. Hunter, you know Randy will probably come to you for help. Can you really do it?" He arched his brow at his best Detective. Bret also worried about Hunter's past with Adam.
Hunter looked at Bret. "Yeah, boss. Now that I know about the real Randal Orton, I want him behind bars. I want him as far away from Adam and the children as possible. Not for the reason you think, Bret. Adam is as good as a son to Shawn, me too. Those are our grandchildren. Trust me, if Randy comes to me for help, he will get worried friend first, Detective second. You know what I mean. I also think not telling Randy is the right thing… we can always change that if the situation calls for it." He gave Bret a firm nod.
"That's true. I'm sorry, Hunter. I haven't made the best decisions as of late. This whole thing has just… I'm under a lot of pressure from the Mayor. He wants the crime syndicates shut down. He is asking for the near impossible. I've got to forget all that and concentrate on this." Bret let out a sigh. He'd let the Mayor get into his head. It had made him doubt himself. Bret knew that had to stop.
"Sorry, boss. I didn't know about the Mayor. Don't worry, once we bring down McMahon and Orton, others will crumble. Now, let's go over this one more time. Justin needs to know we've got his back." Hunter gave Bret a pat on the back with a look of confidence.
Bret nodded. "Thanks, Hunt. I appreciate the support. Now this is..." He picked up the paper so he and Hunter could go over the details one more time.
Randy Orton grinned when he walked into the quadruplets hospital room. Adam was on the bed, their four children curled around him. Dean lay on his side, with an arm across Adam and the children. They were all sound asleep.
Jade opened her eyes. "Hi, dad." She spoke in a sleep filled voice and rubbed her eyes with her little hands.
Randy stepped over to the bed. "Hi, baby. Shh, don't wake daddy." He reached over and caressed Jade's head. Jade was firmly ensconced between Adam and Dean.
"It's okay, I'm awake...I think..." Adam muttered and blinked his eyes a few times.
Randy laughed softly. "Sorry I woke you. You and the babies look so peaceful, Dean too. Do you need anything?" Randy asked as Adam woke up a bit more.
Adam barely shook his head. "No, I have all I need, right here. Dean read a story and we fell asleep. How are you, Ran? You look more rested." Adam smiled. As he spoke, Dean and the children also began to wake up.
Randy's smile widened. "I am rested. Slept good last night for a change. I am alright, but thank God I have AJ. He keeps the business running, less for me to worry about. You look good, so do the babies." He smiled as Jan held out her arms so Randy could hold her. He picked her up from the bed and settled her on his hip.
"Best medicine in the world, right here." Adam sighed with contentment as James and Jordan snuggled closer.
"They were so excited to know you would be here today. I warned them to be careful of your back. Looks like everything is alright. Hey, Dean." Randy spoke to the physician as Dean sat up on the bed.
"Hey, Randy. Listen, I am going to go arrange some treats. You and Randy need time with your babies. I'll be back in a bit." Dean leaned over and gave Adam a kiss. He also gave Jade and the boys pats on their heads.
"Thanks, babe. I could use some coffee." Adam smiled at Dean as the doctor slid off the bed and put his shoes on.
Dean opened the door. "Coffee, milk and cookies coming up. You little lions behave and I might read another story later." He left the room to give family time to the Orton's.
Dean went to the nurse's station, both Justin and Vickie were there. They worked on charting. "Hey, Justin. Could you send the coffee and snack lady to the room in about thirty minutes, please. Randy and Adam need some time alone with the little lions." He gave the nurse a friendly smile.
"The snack cart comes at three." Vickie spoke without looking up. She was not about to rearrange things.
Justin sighed. "Vickie, they can ask for the cart anytime, especially a private pay patient. No problem, Doctor Ambrose. I will take care of it." As he spoke, he casually slipped a piece of paper under Dean's hand.
Dean slid the paper off the counter and into his pocket as he spoke. "Is Doctor Cena in his office?" He acted perfectly normal, but was now curious about the note in his pocket.
"No, he is isolation and will be for a while." Vickie was the one to answer. It made Justin roll his eyes as he looked at Dean.
Dean held back a laugh. "Thank you, Justin. I just wanted to ask himself I could read Jade and James' charts. I'd like to keep track of their progress."
Justin pulled the two charts from the stack of completed charts. "Here. Doctor Cena already said you could. After all, you were Jade's surgeon. You can take them to the break room if you want." Justin gave the two charts to the physician.
Dean smiled. "Thanks, Justin. I will do just that." He took the charts and went to the break room he once enjoyed with Adam and Seth.
Once he saw he was alone, Dean pulled out the note from Justin. Dean laughed a bit. The note was a list of all the medications for Jade and James. He put the note back in his pocket and proceeded to read the charts.
When Dean got back to room 151, he had to hold in another laugh. Randy Orton, the multimillionaire, killer crime boss, sat on the bed and played tea party with Jan and Jade. Randy was "pouring" tea for the large teddy bear he'd bought for Jan. Adam was at the table with James and Jordan. He helped Jordan color a picture of a bright pink flamingo.
"Uncle Dean! Come to our tea party!" Jade beamed when she saw Dean come into the room.
Dean gave a laugh, toed off his shoes and climbed onto the bed. "What a lovely tea party. Randy, may I have a cup, please?" He held out his hands like he held a tea cup.
"Yes you may. Be careful, it's hot." Randy pretended to pour tea into Dean's "cup".
James laughed. "They are funny. Uncle Dean, thank you for sending milk and cookies." He nodded to the empty pints of milk and plate of cookie crumbs.
"You're welcome. By the way, this tea is delicious, don't you think so, Mister Bear?" Dean gave the teddy bear a "toast" with his "cup".
The tea party and coloring continued. When the lunch trays arrived, the four children and three adults enjoyed their meal. Justin had made sure Randy, Dean and Adam also got trays. Neither Randy nor Dean had seen Adam so happy.
At one o'clock, the four children were tucked in bed. They were more than ready for a nap. Dean read the story of Henny Penny. Randy sat in a chair and Adam was back in the wheelchair. They too listened to the story.
"...so she turned tail and ran back home, so she never told the King the sky was a-falling. The end. Now, get some sleep. I'll bring daddy back later, I promise." Dean put the book down and kissed each child. They had already had kisses from their dad and daddy.
"I'll be back, my darlings. Daddy needs a nap too. I love you all so very much." Adam blew kisses to his children. Dean took hold of Adam's wheelchair.
Randy also stood. "I will be back later too, my babies. I love you. Boys, look after your sisters."
"Love you." Four tired little voices replied.
Randy held the door as Dean pushed Adam out of the room. "Adam, can I come to your room for a few minutes?" Randy asked as the trio moved down the hallway.
"Sure, Ran. Anything wrong?" Adam thought he heard something in Randy's voice, like he was upset.
"No, nothing wrong. I promise." Randy gave Adam a pat on the shoulder.
Neither Justin nor Vickie were at the nurse's station as they passed. Ten minutes later, with help from Dean and Randy, Adam was back in his bed.
"I'll give you two some privacy." Dean spoke to the once married couple.
"No, Dean. Please stay. This concerns you, too." Randy spoke in a serious tone and sat in the chair.
Dean sat on the edge of the bed. By instinct, Dean reached for Adam's hand. Adam's hand gripped his firmly.
Randy smiled. "It's not that serious. It's just… watching Dean with the kids...look...the accident made me..." He sighed, unsure of how to say what he meant.
"Ran, just say it. I know you. You always have trouble with serious issues. We won't judge you." Adam gave his ex-husband a smile.
"Yeah, you know me. Okay. If anything should ever happen to me, I want Dean to adopt the kids. I want to know they will be protected, legally. Not that anything will happen, but, the accident made me realize how fast things can happen." Randy looked at Adam and Dean in earnest. He meant what he said.
Dean looked at Randy. "I promise, Randy. I am honored that you would ask me. Your children will be legally protected. They and Adam will also be in my will. I planned that before the accident, but yeah, things can happen fast. So don't worry, Randy."
"Thank you, Dean. That means a lot to me. Adam if..." Randy sighed again.
"Yes, Randy. I would want Mike to adopt the children if the need arose. They need to be protected on all sides. Have you proposed yet?" Adam asked with a smile.
Randy chuckled. "Soon. I want to take him to Saint Louis, propose at the top of the Arch. That's Mike's favorite place. I just want to make sure everything is settled with the kids first. Maybe in a couple of weeks I am happy that you approve of Mike and I. Well, I'll go to the office for a bit. I will be back later." He stood. Randy shook Dean's hand and kissed Adam's cheek.
"Sounds romantic. Of course I approve. I know Mike loves the kids like Dean does. See you, Randy. Love you." Adam waved as Randy left the room.
Dean moved over to the chair, so Adam could rest. "You know, it's really hard to…" Dean sighed.
"Yeah, it is. Until I remember he's killed people. Well, sleepy now. I love you, Dean." Adam yawned and closed his eyes. He didn't want the bad thoughts about Randy on his brain.
"I love you, Adam. I'll be here." Dean held Adam's hand and caressed it. It calmed Adam, as well as himself.
Bret, Hunter, Jason and Kenny listened as Justin Gabriel spoke to them, through his medal. Justin had locked himself in the one safe place he could think of, the med room. There was a security camera in the room, but it had no audio. Justin knew where to stand so no one would notice that his lips moved. To the camera, Just was simply taking a normal inventory of the medication room. In reality he was giving the law enforcement officers the last and final details of the plan to get Adam and the kids out of the hospital. It was going to be difficult; very difficult.
Stephanie McMahon had done a rare thing. She'd left work early. She told her father she had a terrible headache. Vince told his daughter to go home. Drake Younger had also left early. He said he had a meeting to attend, but in reality he went home. He wanted Justin to come home to a relaxing environment. After all, killing a friend was stressful. For a tiny moment, Drake felt bad for Dean, but it was a fleeting thought. Dean would get over it, eventually.
Finn Bálor had changed into the yellow gauze isolation suit. Wade smiled when Finn came into the ward.
Finn made his way to Wade's cubical. "Hi there. You look much better." He picked up Wade's hand and kissed it through his mask.
"Hi. I feel better. I was finally able to eat some solid food. Doctor said I might be able to move to a regular room in a couple of days. So, how are you?" Wade spoke in a clear voice. He sounded much stronger.
Finn held onto Wade's hand. "Wade, I… love you. Sorry if I don't… well...this is new to me. I am glad you feel the same." He felt like a silly, lovesick teenager.
Wade smiled. "I love you, Finn. Alberto…I had another dream...he told me you were the one for me...he was happy. It will be okay, Finn. I am not the flower and candy type. I just want someone to share things with. You don't have to change anything. Be yourself, that's the Finn I love. So stop with the nervous teenager act. Now tell me, it happens tonight, right?" Wade looked at Finn with hope.
"Yes, it does. I have to leave in a little while. Madame Stephanie wants Drake and I as far away from here as possible. She doesn't want anything to come back on the faction if the cops investigate. Not fond of the idea, but I know Justin will get the job done. I've never seen anyone as smart as him. I have an ego, but I know a better man when I see him. Justin is that man. If Stephanie listens to him, our faction will be on top, and stay on top." Finn spoke honestly. He fully trusted and in his way, admired Justin Gabriel.
Wade managed a nod. "I know what you mean. Justin is a great guy. All that matters to me now is that Orton is going to pay for taking Alberta Maria away from me…from us. You would have been a good father to her, Finn. Finn… could… I mean…you do want children...right?" Wade had sadness mixed with hope in his eyes.
Finn gripped Wade's hand. "Yeah, I do. We will talk about it more when you're back home. Speaking of, will you move into my condo? It is the bigger of the two, more room for a nursery." He gave Wade a wink. Finn really did want kids, a son to carry on the name Bálor.
Wade smiled again. "I'd love to..." Wade and Finn continued to chat a bit more. At six, Finn left St. Luke's. He went home to wait to hear that Justin was done, and Adam was dead.
After another visit with the quadruplets and tucking Adam into bed, Dean Ambrose also left St. Luke's. He wanted to make sure everything was ready for Adam and the children in the safe room. He knew the little lions would be scared. He didn't want Jade and James to have any setbacks on their recovery.
Adam was more nervous than scared, unsure of what was going to happen. He worried that the children would be upset. He prayed they would soon be safe, together at home.
He also thought about Randy. The man was the true definition of two-faced. In some ways, it made Adam feel so stupid that Randy lied directly to his face and he never picked up on it. In other ways Adam was glad he hadn't known that Randy lied. If nothing else, Randy had given him four perfect children. Adam couldn't have asked for better. Adam knew, despite his criminal activity, Randy was a good father and had tried hard to be a good husband. They had gone through some terrible times together and Randy had never strayed from his side. Especially when Adam had miscarried their first child. Randy had faithfully supported him through nursing school and encouraged his desire to work despite their growing wealth. Randy also admired Adam when he refused alimony.
Randy had insisted on Adam keeping the house. They both wanted the children to stay in their home. Randy had also always paid for any repairs on the house and paid a lawn service to maintain the property. Adam would always be grateful to Randy for all of that. Sometimes, Adam wished he and Randy could have worked out their marital issues for the sake of the kids. However, even the marriage counselor told them to end the marriage and save the friendship. It was the best advice they had ever been given. Now, Adam was glad they had divorced.
Adm jumped out of his thoughts when Nurse Jillian came into the room. "Ready for your night meds, Adam? Do you need any extra pain meds?" She handed Adam the little paper cup with his post op medications.
Adam took the cup. "No, at least not right now. I'm trying to manage without them." He took the pills with a sip of water.
"You are stronger than me. Okay, call if you need anything. Goodnight, Adam." Jillian spoke with a smile. She loved Adam as a patient. As a fellow nurse, he knew how to behave, unlike grumpy Mr. Johnson down the hall.
Adam returned the smile. "I will. Goodnight, Jillian." He scooted down the bed. Jillian turned out the overhead lights and left. Adam sighed, but he was wide awake.
Adam realized he must have dozed off. He woke up when he felt someone shake him gently.
A soft voice spoke in Adam's ear. "Adam, it's time..."
