At the McMahon mansion, Stephanie sat with Chris Jericho and helped him eat the hearty vegetable soup made by the family chef. Stephanie had told Chris everything. She was a bit frustrated that it hadn't gone as smoothly as Randy had said it would.
Chris looked at Stephanie. "Hey sweetheart, it will work out. Better that Orton is overly cautious. I mean Helmsley is a bacon maker. Randal knows what Commander Flair would do to him if he busts the truce." He took the bite of soup from the spoon Stephanie held.
Before Stephanie could speak, Justin came into the room. "Sorry, ma'am, sir. I just got a call from Mike. Randy has taken Adam and the children to Saint Louis. He felt it would be safer. Mike said not to panic, that Randy was going to get the kids settled, then return and deal with the Shane situation." Justin continued the plan they had carefully laid out.
Stephanie put the bowl of soup down on the tray that sat across Chris' lap. "Saint Louis? Tonight?..." Her tone was filled with anger as she leaned back in the chair.
"Steph, take a breath and think. He just got his children back, all he cares about is their safety. His father, in Saint Louis is that safety. You can't understand that unless you are a parent, no disrespect, honey. I would do anything to keep Ash safe, even if it meant pissing you off. I'm worried to death about him. Stephanie, can Ash come here? He won't be any trouble, I promise." Chris spoke in earnest. He'd been so worried about his precious boy.
Stephanie grinned. "Of course, Ash is more than welcome here. I should have thought of it myself. Justin, two things. Call Mizanin and tell him I understand. Make sure that he stays in touch. Then, send for Ash Jericho, or better yet, you and Drake go get him. Chris will call and tell them you're coming."
"Yes ma'am. Don't worry, sir. Your son will be here shortly." Justin gave a nod and left. He was relieved. Stephanie had taken the news of Randy better than he thought she would. He quickly left to find Drake.
Chris grinned. "Thank you so much, honey. Now I can rest better." He laid back with a content sigh.
"You're welcome, Chris. Again, I am sorry I didn't think of Ash. Um...Chris… Ash… his..." Stephanie hesitated. This was all so new to her.
Chris looked at Stephanie. "His mother? She is not a factor. Jess was a good friend. She agreed to have a baby for me. It was all clinical. I made a cup deposit. She signed over any and all rights. She has her own family. She just helped me out. I wanted a child, someone to love and love me in return. Someone to leave my legacy to, whatever that may be. You know, Ash is the most important person in my life. You do want to be a part of that...don't you?" He worried but knew if Stephanie and Ash clashed, Ash would win.
Stephanie leaned forward and took one of Chris' hands in hers. "Yes, Chris. I want that. I've never been a mom, but, I want to be. You'll have to help me so I don't screw it up. Thanks for telling me about Jess. It was a very selfless thing for her to do. Now, young man, finish your supper. You need your strength." She picked up the spoon again and fed Chris.
Chris took the bite of soup with a smile. He thought Stephanie had the makings of being a good mother.
At Adam's house, things were a bit chaotic. "Hey! Calm down, little lions. I know you're glad to be home. Go up to your rooms and settle in. Daddy and I will be up soon. Grandpa Shawn will come check on you. Now, go and don't break any nerves." Dean spoke with his new found parental tone of voice.
"Okay, dad. Come on guys!" James led his brother and sisters up to their bedrooms. They had not been in their rooms since the accident a few weeks ago.
Adam watched his children go upstairs. When they were gone, he turned to Dean. "Where is he?"
"They are going to keep him in the den. Adam, you don't have to see him. " Dean was worried. Not only was Adam pregnant, he was still recovering from a major surgery. He needed to stay calm.
Adam looked at his new husband. "Yes, I do, Dean. I have to, not for me, but for those children. I have to know. Put your ring back on, we don't have to hide it now. Please, Dean." Adam spoke firmly and it matched the hard look on his face.
Dean smiled at Adam. He pulled his wedding band out of his pocket. He held it out to Adam. "It killed me to take it off. Put it back on, baby. I will never take it off again." He held out his left hand.
Adam chuckled softly. He took the sliver band. He slid it onto Dean's left ring finger. "I love you..." Adam gave Dean a kiss. "Now, take me to Randy."
Dean looked at his husband. "Alright, but at the first sign of stress, you're out. Okay?"
Adam nodded. "Agreed. But, I have to do this. Randal Keith Orton has a lot of questions to answer and by God, he is going to answer them or my name isn't Adam Ambrose." His face was still set in stone.
Dean smiled. "I understand, baby. Okay, lets go. I've got your back." He gave Adam another kiss.
It took a couple of minutes for Adam to walk down the long hallway, his hips hurt from all the recent movements. When the got to the den, Dean knocked on the door.
Kenny cracked the door open. "Hi. Where is Shane?" He needed Shane to write the note ASAP.
"He will be here in a bit, with Roman. He's helping Seth with things. I need Shawn to go up and be with the children. I demand to see Randy, now." Adam spoke to Kenny with no apologies. Adam had a mission and not even the FBI would stop him.
Kenny smiled. "Come on in." He opened the door for the newlyweds. "Hunter, please go wait for Shane. Shawn, you are wanted upstairs." He wasn't about to stop Adam.
The Helmsley's stood as did Bret and Jason. "We'll make some coffee." Jason gave Kenny a wink.
Shawn gave Adam a hug. "Do they know?"
Adam shook his head. "No, not yet. I will tell them later. Let them enjoy being back home, without having to hide." He laughed, the sound of James' saxophone and Jan's flute wafted in the air.
"Don't worry, son. Adam, give him hell, you've earned it and he deserves it." Shawn spoke in a low voice.
Adam grinned. "Oh, I will. Just don't let the babies get too wild." He gave Shawn a hug.
Kenny stood guard over the door, in the hallway. The conversation was between Adam, Dean and Randy. But, he would be able to hear if he was needed.
Randy stood as Adam hobbled into the room with Dean's help. Adam went to Randy and stood face to face with his ex-husband.
Before anyone could even blink, Adam reached back and slapped Randy so hard across the face, it made Randy stumble to one knee. Adam then went and sat down on the love seat across from the couch. Dean joined him.
Randy rubbed his cheek and sat down on the couch like a meek sheep. "Damn, I forgot about your left hook. I deserved it. Adam, I never wanted you or the babies to find out." He gave a sigh. He couldn't look at Adam.
"You know, I sat there in terror, holding the children as they suffered with nightmares. I dreamed of what I would say to you… but now, I am just to fuckin' angry. Why did you kill Alberto Del Rio?" It was the only thing Adam could think of. He reached for Dean's hand; it was there.
Randy finally lifted his eyes. "He got to close to you. He'd been ordered to flirt with you, to get close to you and the children. I couldn't allow that. It happened that night I got hit in the head. We had Del Rio, he fought back...till I… well..." He ended with a shrug. He wasn't going to lie, but he wasn't going to elaborate. He knew Omega was listening.
"I guess I am lucky you didn't kill Dean. He did the same thing." Adam clutched Dean's hand.
Randy shook his head. "No, Dean was fine. He wasn't one of McMahon's men. He wasn't a threat to you or the babies. Adam, nothing means more to me than your happiness. That's why I worked so hard to keep this side from you. I also wasn't lying when I said I want you and Dean to have a wonderful marriage. Your happiness...it's something I couldn't give you and I am truly sorry about that. I suppose you have guessed that the hiding and lying is what made me a bear to live with. It wasn't your fault. You had a right to fight back. Adam, I also want you to know, every single dollar I gave you or the babies was one hundred percent legit, from OP, which is also a hundred percent legit. You have never touched anything from...the other side. I know none of this makes any difference, but I thought you needed to know. The savings accounts and house expense account are also legit. Dean, college shouldn't be an issue. Their school fees are also legit and paid automatically. All do I is charge their lunch cards when they need it." Randy gave another shrug. He wanted Adam to know how much everything meant.
Adam looked at Randy. "Well, I am glad to know about the legit money for the children. Randy… suppose… just suppose I had wanted to date Alberto? I mean, I didn't want to, there was just… something off about him. However, what if I had? Would my happiness have mattered then? What if the kids had liked him? Would their happiness have mattered? By the way, Dean and I are married, and have been for almost two days now." He held up his left hand and Dean's as well, to show off their rings.
Randy smiled for the first time in hours. "Congratulations, Adam, Dean. I truly mean that. I bet the babies were happy. All they ever talked about was how happy they were that daddy smiled again. About the other… I have to be honest… no, it wouldn't have mattered. He was a McMahon. It's ironic now, I just today, declared a truce with Stephanie. We are both tired of the petty back and forth crap. I convinced her we would be more powerful if we worked together. Hell, I even gave up OP's contract to Saint Luke's. I was so smug, thinking I was so smart that I got her to agree. We were going to rule Kansas City. Make the lesser factions bow at our feet. It would have shown..." Randy's head bowed as his words faded.
Adam looked at his ex. "Shown Bob you were your own man? I know, Randy. I can say something now, that I have always wanted to say, but never did out of respect for you. Bob treated you like a fucking bastard. Randy, or the Randy I thought I knew, did far better at business than Bob ever could. Randy is Bob… part of… the other?" Now that he'd found his footing, Adam wanted some answers.
Randy nodded. "Oh yeah. He has total control of Saint Louis. He wanted me to give him Kansas City, but McMahon was in the way. You always supported me when we went to Saint Louis, and I appreciated it. Oh Adam, I'm sorry, so fucking sorry. I've lost my babies, haven't I?" Tears welled in Randy's eyes.
"What do you want me to say, Randy? You will be going to jail. They are extremely upset. I wasn't going to tell them anything about you, but they naturally asked why we were taken and hidden. I just said, bad men might hurt us because you have so much money. Like you told them about the in Rembrandt. Anyway, Dean and I were talking in the bedroom of the safe room. I was upset, I said Randy has killed people. Well, someone heard..."
"Jade?" Randy asked as he interrupted his ex.
Adam nodded. "Of course. I had to tell them. They want to be… Ambrose now. Dean is dad. Randy...I want..." He was again halted by Randy.
"Give me the papers. It's… the price for the life I chose. You're right, I will be in jail, they need Dean and his name. But Adam… try not to let them completely forget me...my love for them was never part of that life. I love those babies, Adam. Let me see them, one last time, please. Let me talk to them. Then I won't stand in your way. Dean, please love them like they were your own. Please, Adam. I will get on my knees and beg if you want me to." More tears formed in Randy's eyes and they weren't for show.
Adam looked at Dean. Dean spoke. "I know, babe. But, it would give them an ending. They won't come to you, ten years from now and ask why they never got to have their say to Randy. They have the right, Adam. They have the right to tell him what they want to tell him. Yes, they are only seven, but they understand enough. Especially James and Jan. We will be here, and so will Shawn and Hunter. We will get them put back together. However, it is your final decision, and I will fully support what you decide" Dean spoke his honest thoughts. It was however, up to Adam to decide.
Adam scrubbed his face with his hands. "Here are the rules. First, I will ask them if they even want to see you. If they do, you are to answer their questions. Finally, no matter what they say, you take it like a man. Whatever they decide, that's it. Understood? You hurt those babies any more and I will kill you myself." He spoke in a tone of voice that left no room for an argument.
Randy nodded. "I will do everything you ask. I just want...one last time. Could I also please have some coffee?" He needed a smoke, but coffee would do.
Adam gave a nod. "We will go talk to the children. Smoke, it's alright. Ashtray is in the drawer. I'll ask for coffee. Are you hungry?"
"Well, I could eat a sandwich or something, thanks. Adam, Dean, thank you." Randy spoke with total contrition.
Adam and Dean were surprised when Bret Hart was at the door instead of Kenny Omega. Dean explained to Bret what was going on. Bret gave a nod.
"Kenny is with Shane in the kitchen. We'll get some coffee and food. Thanks for letting him smoke, we will pay to have the room cleaned after...well, go talk to the kids." Bret gave the newlyweds a smile.
Dean helped Adam up the stairs. Shawn was on the way down. "They are in James' room. They wanted to talk to you, I was just on my way to get you."
"Randy wants to see them. Shawn draw something up for Randy to sign. Dean is adopting the kids. I want something now, to lock Randy down." Adam spoke firmly.
"And I will pay for it." Dean added just as firmly.
Shawn chuckled. "Don't worry. Roman will be here soon with said paper. You can pay him. Go, I need coffee." Shawn winked and went downstairs.
"Should've known." Adam laughed as they slowly made their way upstairs.
When they got to James' room, Adam took a deep breath. He smiled when Dean took his hand and led him into the room. The quadruplets sat in a circle on the floor. Adam and Dean sat on the bed.
"Hi, my darlings. What's the big meeting about?" Adam asked with a smile.
James spoke. "We...want to see...him."
Adam nodded. "He wants to see you. My darlings, this will be the last time you see him, either for a very long time or ever. You can say what ever you want. But, are you really sure?" He looked at his children with worry, mixed with love.
James looked at his siblings. Jordan, Jan and Jade nodded. "Yes, daddy. We want to see him. But…it…won't break your nerve?" He too looked worried.
"No, baby. It won't break my nerve. Dad Dean and I agree, you have the right to see him and have your say. Your father will listen. He will not be angry with you. He knows this is the last time. I just want to say one thing, so please, listen." Adam took a moment to look at each child directly.
"Okay, daddy." James stated after nods of agreement from his siblings.
Adam grinned. "Remember, no matter how you feel now, he does love you. He was a good father. That was very real and not part of his bad side. You just say what you have to say to him."
"We understand. Can we go now? Grandpa Shawn is going to play Candy Land with us later." Jade spoke. She wanted to get it done and over with.
Dean spoke. "Yes, we can go now. Do you want me there, or do you want to talk to him without me? It is up to you." He looked at each child. He would do what ever they wanted. Dean wanted it to be as stress free as possible.
Jade scooted over to Dean's feet. She looked up at him. "We want you there. You keep us safe."
Dean leaned down and pulled Jade up into his lap. "I will always keep you safe, little lioness. Well, come on. We will do this together." He kissed Jade's temple.
Dean set Jade down and helped Adam to stand. Together the family went downstairs. They heard Seth and Roman in the kitchen with Helmsley's, the Hart's and Shane McMahon. The family slowly walked down the long hallway to the den. Kenny Omega once again stood in front of the door.
"Hello, little lions. You ready to go in?" Kenny asked with a smile. He thought the quadruplets were so adorable.
Adam replied. "Yes, we are ready." There was nothing more to say. Kenny opened the door with a smile.
Jade clung to Dean and Jordan held Adam's hand. Together, the six people went into the den. Randy still sat on the couch. A cup of coffee and a plate of half eaten leftovers from Tony's sat on the coffee table. The ashtray had a few spent butts in it. Randy looked like a man about face the firing squad.
Randy smiled at his children. Adam and Dean sat down on the love seat. Jade climbed up on Dean's lap. Jordan sat on the arm of the seat with Adam's arm around him. Jan and James sat on the floor at Dean and Adam's feet. The children were wary.
Randy leaned forward, his forearms rested on his upper thighs. "I…love you four very, very much. I am sorry for all the bad things that have happened. Mizzie loves you too, as do all the others. Do you have anything you want to ask me, or talk about? I will be going away for a long time in a few days. This might be the last time I will get to see you. That makes me very, very sad. I know Dean loves you very much, he will be the best dad to you. Well, it's up to you now, my babies."
"Dad's little lions! Not your baby!" Jade spoke with anger, then curled closer to Dean.
James looked at Randy with sadness in his eyes. "Why? Why do all those bad things?"
Randy sighed. "Because it's what my father taught me to do. No, that's not exactly right. Money, James. I did it for the money and...to be important. All very bad reasons to do something. I made some bad mistakes, very bad. Children, whatever you grow up to be an do in life, do it for the right reasons. Don't let greed make you do bad things. Work hard and you will be rewarded." He gave the best answer he could.
"So, was your business bad too?" James asked pointedly.
Randy sighed again. "No, James. My company is very good, and it helps a lot of sick people get the medicines they need. The company will belong to you four one day. The bad stuff had nothing to do with the company." He answered with the truth.
Jordan looked at Jade. Jade gave him a nod. "Have you killed people?" He still wasn't sure Jade had heard it right.
Randy's head shot up. He looked at Adam. He wasn't sure if he should answer or not. Adam looked Randy in the eye. Flashes of anger sparked in his hazel eyes.
"Not fun is it? Now you know how I felt when they asked me. Tell them the truth." Adam didn't care how Randy felt. His children deserved to hear the truth.
Randy looked at his children. "Daddy is right. You deserve to know the truth. Yes, I have killed people. Sometimes, they had done bad things to me or tried to hurt my friends. One was going to try to hurt you four and daddy." Maybe he could make it sound… not as bad.
"You could have called a policeman! You are a very, very bad man. I don't want to be an Orton! You can't make me!" Jade was nearly in tears.
Adam swore he heard the crack as Randy's heart shattered like glass. "I wish I had. I wish I'd never…. It's alright, Jade. You don't have to be an Orton any more. Do you all feel that way? It is alright if you do. I honestly don't blame you." Randy leaned back in the ultimate defeat.
"Yes. Dean is our dad now..." James paused. He looked hard at Randy. "Was it worth it?" James asked and spoke like a full grown adult, not a seven year old.
Randy looked at James. It reminded him of looking in a mirror, when he was seven. "No, son. It was not worth it. Nothing is worth losing you four over. If I could, I would take it all back. Oh God, I would take it all back..." Randy let a few tears fall, he couldn't remember the last time he had cried.
Adam looked at Dean. "Enough." They moved to stand. Randy stopped them.
"Wait, please. One more thing. Just know I love you and always will. Be happy my children, just be happy." Randy leaned back again and buried his head in his hands.
Dean carried Jade on his hip and helped Adam to stand. The six people went to the door. Jan looked over at Randy. She ran over to him.
"Love you, goodbye." Jan hugged Randy. He hugged Jan back.
"Love you, goodbye." Randy spoke with a tear filled voice. Randy's world shattered when the door closed behind his family… no, Doctor Dean Ambrose's family.
Adam wanted to pick Jan up so badly, but it just wasn't possible. Dean saw the distress. "Come little lioness." He managed to balance Jan on his other hip. Jade and Jan clung to Dean as he walked to the kitchen. Jordan and James tightly held their daddy's hands and helped him walk. They looked like they had just watched the saddest movie ever.
Shawn got up and went to the family. "I don't suppose anyone wants some milk and cookies before we play Candy Land?" He smiled with encouragement.
"Thanks, grandpa Shawn." James spoke in a subdued tone of voice. He and Jordan pulled out a chair and held on to their daddy as he sat down.
Dean set the girls down and helped them into their chairs. Shane McMahon felt bad, the quadruplets looked so sad. Shane knew it was time to reveal a secret.
"Hello!" A voice came out of nowhere.
Everyone looked around, but no one new had entered the room. Bret and Jason went on alert. They looked when Hunter laughed.
Shane had opened the package of cookies, and moved the open end like a mouth. "Don't eat me! I don't taste good!" The "package" exclaimed.
Jade looked at the "talking" pack of cookies. "Yes you do! Chocolate chip are the best!"
Shane moved the "mouth". "We are the best. We love to swim in milk."
As Shane continued to draw the children in, Shawn leaned down to whisper to Adam. "They will be alright. Go up and lay down. We're staying here tonight. I will take care of them."
Adam gave Shawn a smile. "Thank you, Shawn. I am hurting. Bring them in to me later, please?"
"I will. Go, while they are busy." Shawn gave both Adam and Dean a pat on the shoulder.
The quadruplets never even noticed when their parents quietly made their way up the backstairs. They smiled when the children started to laugh. They knew it would take a while, but the children would be alright. At least they hoped so.
Adam let out a cross between a sigh and a whimper when they walked into their bedroom. "I wasn't sure I'd ever be here again." Adam sighed again as he sat on his wonderfully comfortable bed.
Dean kissed his husband. "I know just what my nymph needs." He wiggled his brow at his new husband.
"Dean Ambrose! No! The house is full of people and the kids could come in at any moment." Adam was horrified at the thought of the kids walking in on them having sex on top of everything else.
Dean rolled his eyes. "Get your blond mind out of the gutter. I meant a hot bubble bath."
Adam flushed with a bit of a giggle. "Oh. That sounds wonderful. Will my stitches be alright? We were taught baths weren't the best on stitches."
Dean chuckled. "Well, Nurse, you are absolutely right. I guess you haven't noticed, your stitches have dissolved. I will bandage and check the scars after. I will go prepare your bath. I will help you undress when it's ready. Just relax." He gave Adam a kiss, then went to prepare said bath.
Down in the den, Randy looked up when Roman came into the room. The lawyer had a sheaf of papers in his hand.
"Hey Roman. How is Seth? I honestly hope he hasn't been overly stressed and the baby is alright." Randy asked as the lawyer sat next to him.
"He is fine, thanks. It will be a lot better now though. Shawn had me draw these up. I will be handling this for Dean and Adam..." Roman paused. Randy had let out a whimper when he saw the papers Roman had laid out on the coffee table. They were for the Relinquishment of Parental Rights.
Roman looked at Randy and saw real sorrow and real regret. "I… it must be very hard. Have you changed your mind?" He was worried. If Randy had changed his mind, it could turn nasty. Roman had thought the worst was over.
Randy looked Roman directly in the eye. His blue eyes were stained red from the tears. "It's the fucking hardest thing I have ever done. No, I have not changed my mind. I can handle Dean having custody, but, it ripped me to the core that they don't want to be called Orton anymore. My boys...were my hope to keep the Orton name alive in the future. What if Seth has a son, and one day he said to you, I don't want to be a Reigns any more? Just… tell me where to sign..." He let his words fade. He pulled his sliver pen out his pocket. Randy let out another whimper.
"What?" Roman asked as he laid out the papers that Randy needed to sign.
"The kids… gave this to me last year. They saved up their chore money. Adam had it engraved…" Randy handed the pen to Roman.
Roman turned the pen to read the inscription. "To the world's best dad. With love, Jan, Jade, Jordan, James and Adam. I am sorry, Randy, I am. But… things come at a cost. You made the choices you know. You do know, Dean loves them like they are his own. I've known him for a long time, he is the one I would leave our children with, if anything happened to Seth and I. He will take good care of them." Roman spoke honestly. He held the pen out to Randy.
"Keep it. Give it to Dean. He is their father now." Randy picked up the pen Roman had laid on the papers. With a businessman's eye, he scanned the papers. Randy signed them with a shaky hand.
Roman looked at the silver pen. He put it in his shirt pocket. He then gathered up the papers. "Thank you. I will file these tomorrow. When the Judge signs them, that's it. Last chance. Are you one hundred percent sure? Because once I leave this room, that's it." Roman gave Randy a pointed look. He had to be fair, and give Randy one last chance.
"Roman...just go...please, just go." Randy pulled out a cigarette, lit it and leaned back.
Roman gave a nod. He scooped up the stack of papers. He saw a tear roll out of Randy Orton's closed eyes. He got up and left the den. He heard Randy mutter. "So stupid...I was so stupid."
"Um… keep an eye on him." Roman spoke quietly to Kenny Omega. He was honestly worried about Randy's mental health.
Kenny gave Roman a nod. "I will. I am sure that was very difficult for him. That's also why we are keeping him here. Less chance for him to take the easy way out. Don't worry, I do have experience with criminal psychology. Hard as it was and is, he did the right thing for his children. I am sure the state will press for the death penalty, despite what I say. Wouldn't you?" He arched his brow at Roman.
"You know, I never thought of that. I don't know if could ask for the death penalty." Roman spoke with deep thought. Could he send a man to the lethal injection chamber at the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center at Bonne Terre.
Kenny gave the lawyer a hard look. "Do you think Del Rio wanted to die? Or the others he killed, just because they got in his way? What about Wade Barrett? Yes, he helped Finn Bálor disable Adam's brakes, but Randy got his revenge. It cost Wade the baby he was pregnant with. If someone deliberately harmed Seth...well… wouldn't that deserve justice?" Kenny spoke with bluntness.
Roman gave a growl. "I would kill them. Point taken. Thanks, Kenny. You made me think."
"Good." Kenny's reply was simple, but said so much. He watched as the lawyer headed back to the kitchen. He didn't envy lawyers. They deserved a lot more credit and respect than they got.
When Roman returned to the kitchen, Hunter, Bret, Jason ans Seth sat quietly and finished off the cookies. Roman sat down. He put the papers in a file folder he took out of his briefcase. He needed two more signatures.
"Where are the others?" Roman asked as he bit into the last cookie.
"Upstairs. Shawn is probably stuck in the molasses swamp by now." Hunter gave a shrug with a laugh.
Seth chuckled. "Those little monkeys love that game. Ro, did he sign?" He looked as Roman put the file in his briefcase and locked it.
"Yeah, he did. Sethie, he cried… Randy actually cried. I think if he could find a way… he would end it." Roman spoke with concern. Randy's emotions had troubled him.
Hunter let out a growl. "Don't Roman. Don't feel sorry for him. He did what he did. Do you think he thought of being a good father when he blew Del Rio's head in half? Do you want to see the pictures? After we pulled him out of the river? Don't think for one moment he wasn't eventually going to take Jordan or James into training to take over. Or maybe Jade or Jan. Regret is easy… after you've been caught. Maybe he does feel like offing himself now but that's just from the shock of being caught. This is far from over. We have to get McMahon, and Randy will hand them to us or..." Hunter let his voice fade, he was in danger of saying too much.
Roman took in Hunter's words. "Yes, I guess you are right. Hunter, do you think Randy will wind up at the ERDDC?" He arched his brow at the Detective.
"If I have anything to do with it, no. But it won't be up to me." Shawn spoke as he came into the kitchen, down the backstairs. He began to make a fresh pot of coffee.
Hunter scoffed. "He would if I had anything to do with it. I know how you feel about the DP, but sometimes it is justified." It wasn't the first time the couple had disagreed on legal issues.
Roman didn't want his boss to fight with his husband. "Um.. I need Dean and Adam to sign the papers. Are they busy?"
"They will be down in a bit. Dean is reading to the kids. Shane is staying here for now. He felt he could help with the kids. He said himself he didn't want Meg involved. He is such a good kid, especially considering his home life. I wish we could adopt him." Shawn stated as he sat down next to his husband.
"That, I agree with a million percent. He has a home with us for as long as he wants. Meg will have the brother she always wanted." Hunter leaned over and gave Shawn a kiss.
Upstairs, Adam was in the guest room, next to Jade's room. "Everything is clean, dear Ida sees to it. You have those sample bags, use what you want. This is kind of you, Shane. The kids love you. They are going to have hard times. Between you, Seth and Dean, they will be able to laugh."
"No, thank you, Adam. I don't want the Helmsley's to worry about Megan. Well, you'd better go see what's what. I'll listen and look out for the little lions." Shane gave Adam a hug.
Ten minutes later, Dean and Adam were in the kitchen. "You look much better, Adam." Seth nudged his friend as Dean set down coffee cups for Adam and himself. He then sat between Adam and Roman.
"Dean spoiled me with a hot bath and a head washing. I feel like myself again." Adam nudged Seth back. He felt more relaxed at home and not hiding in it.
Roman unlocked his briefcase and pulled out the file of papers Randy had signed. "Well, sign these. I will take them to the Judge tomorrow. He may sign them or he may want a hearing. Oh um… Dean, Randy said this belongs to you now." Roman held out the silver pen.
"That's… the kids… well, he is right." Adam was upset Randy would give it away, but what could he say.
Dean took the pen and looked at it. "I will use it… now." He signed the papers, then lid them over to Adam, along with the pen.
Adam took the pen and signed the papers. Before he could say anything, Bret Hart, Chief of Police came into the kitchen.
"Hunter, come with me. We have a problem. A big one." Bret was frantic. Something terrible had happened.
