Adam and Dean waited in an interrogation room at the county lockup. Shawn had explained Randy wanted a ten minute visit, the couple had agreed.
At first, Dean hadn't been sure Adam needed the stress. Adam said he was curious, and ten minutes wasn't that long. Also, Adam told Dean, no matter what Randy had done in his other life, he had always been good to him. Dean agreed to the visit.
"You know, Randy really carried me when we lost our first baby. Going through something so… hard, bonds you in a way nothing else can. I owe this to Randy. After this, I can finally let go of him." Adam further explained as they waited for Randy to arrive.
Dean put his arm around Adam's shoulders as they sat and waited. "I understand, baby. I'm here to support you. I would hope I would have the courage to do what Randy did, but I pray we never… well… anyway. I'm here and here I will stay." He gave Adam a kiss.
Adam smiled softly at his husband. "I love you, Dean Ambrose. We would do what we had to do."
Adam was halted when the door opened. Randy was with John Bradshaw Layfield and Dallas Page, the head guard. With a nod from Page, Layfield handed Randy a thick envelope. Layfield went out of the room to wait for Randy. Dallas stood by the now locked door as Randy greeted Adam and Dean.
Randy sat down across from the Ambrose's. "Adam, Dean, thank you for coming to see me. I will keep this short. In this envelope, are five bank books. One for each of the children and one for you and Dean. Each one is for two hundred million dollars. I sold Orton Pharmaceuticals for one billion dollars. I did it, Adam. I made a billion dollars. You always told me I would do it. This is the last thing I can do for you and the babies. Every dime of that is one hundred percent legit. The other side of me never mixed with the business. Layfield has the papers for the accounts. Adam, thinks for always standing behind me. Encouraging me when I wanted to quit. Thanks also for never… well… being a clinging vine. Sometimes, I wish we hadn't clashed over stupid stuff. Now, I am glad we are divorced. Be happy, Addy. You deserve it. Dean, love them like it was your last day on earth, every day, because you never know. Well, that's all. I'm sure my time is up. Take care, I hope the new baby is happy and healthy. Love you." Randy stood up. He gave Adam a fast kiss on the cheek, and gave Dean a pat on the shoulder. Dallas unlocked the door and led Randy out.
John B. Layfield entered. "I have papers for you to sign to activate the accounts. You should know, the accounts for the children will be locked in trust until they are twenty-five. Randal said they would be more prepared by then. He also wanted me to reassure you, this is all legit, nothing illegal." Layfield pulled the papers out of his briefcase. He laid them out in front of the Doctor and Nurse.
It still hadn't fully sunken in that they were, in effect, Billionaires. "Mr. Layfield, can we take these home? No offense, but I would like my attorney, Roman Reigns to look them over." Dean spoke firmly. He wasn't about to sign anything legal without Roman's approval.
John Layfield held up his hand. "None taken. I would do the same. Just have Mister Reigns send the papers to my office. Take your time. I am sure this is a lot to take in. Mister Orton was most insistent that you understand, the sale of OP was legit. Mister Shinsuke Nakamura purchased it. It will now be known as Nakamura Pharmaceuticals. Randal thought it would be better to sell it, than leave it to others to possibly tear it apart. Mister Ambrose, Adam, if I may, Randal did the right thing. He wanted to make sure you and the children were provided for. He felt it was the last thing he could do. Let's be frank, he will be out of the picture for a long time, if not life. Can I ask one thing, just as a friend of Randy's? One day, in the future, if the children want to see him, let them. It tore him to pieces to give them up, but he wanted them safe and secure. He knew Doctor Ambrose was the right one. Okay, let Mister Reigns read. Have a good day." Layfield stood and left the room.
Dean folded the papers and slipped them into the envelope with the five bank books. Dean gave a chuckle. "They don't use passbooks at the bank any more. I guess he just wanted something physical to give the children. Well, shall we go? I want to stop by Roman's office."
Adam just stared at the envelope. "I did tell him he would be a billionaire one day. He did it. Dean, did this just happen?" He was still stunned at Randy's actions. They were now billionaires… sort of.
Thirty minutes later, Adam spoke with Shawn as Dean met with Roman. Shawn chuckled. "You always said he'd be a billionaire. I take it you are okay with it?" Shawn asked as he gave Adam a small bottle of orange juice. He always had some on hand in case Megan came to the office.
Adam took a sip of the juice, he felt he needed some fast sugar. "I'm… yeah. Shawn, I want to donate to charity. Can you set something up? Or maybe a scholarship program? After all this… trial stuff is over, of course. Is it wrong that I don't feel guilty." He was still in a bit of shock.
"Not at all, Adam. OP wouldn't have existed without you. I mean you gave Randy all the support. You stood behind him when it got tough. You went to all those dinners and schmoozed for OP. You might not have known much about it, but it was yours, just as much as Randy's. Yes, I will help you. I think a scholarship program would be good. Maybe something in your mom's name. Secretarial students need scholarships too. Promise me though, use some of it, take Dean and go travel. Spoil yourself a bit." Shawn gave Adam a firm look, then a wink.
Adam nodded. "I want to go to London. I also want to take the kids to Disneyland this summer. They are just the right age now. We can get a good stroller pram for the baby. Maybe you guys could come along. Meg and Shane would love it. Shawn, are you really okay with them dating? Be honest with me." He took another sip of juice.
Shawn let out a sigh. "I'm better with it than I thought. Adam, you know as well as we do, she is more mature than a normal sixteen year old. She's been through so much, why not let her live. We couldn't have asked for anyone better than Shane. He treats her like a princess. Megan has blossomed. So while it is nerve wracking, I am really okay with it, so is Hunter. Of course, the first sign of any monkey business and it's over. I'm not worried though, Megan told me she wants to be a virgin bride. Shane not only has respect for Megan, but for Hunter and I as well. You will understand when yours are old enough to date." Shawn gave Adam a knowing glance.
"Oh, that won't be a problem. I'll have a loaded shotgun in hand when the girl's dates pick them up." Dean stated flatly as he and Roman came into Shawn's office.
Both Adam and Shawn laughed. "The thing is, he is being serious. So, are we officially billionaires?"
Roman nodded. "Yes. It is totally legit. I even checked on Nakamura. He's worth ten billion and is very respected in Japan. Just need you two to sign. I will get the papers to Layfield. He needs them to finish the contract. Nakamura only agreed to buy OP if Randy made no profit." He was satisfied that everything was totally on the up and up.
"Wow. I am glad to know more about Mister Nakamura. Roman, thank you. I guess we can't plead for Pro bono. Pay the man, Doctor." Adam teased. Now that he knew more, he felt fine about everything.
Roman chuckled. "You don't owe me for this. I was glad to do it. Tell Seth I will be home on time." He hugged Adam and Dean, then went back to his own work.
Judge Lawler moved the trial of Finn Bálor and Wade Barrett, but then delayed it for two weeks. He had a Judge's conference come up that he had to attend. He was the President of the Judges Association. The lawyers didn't mind, it gave them the time they needed.
At the Ambrose house, the work had been finished. The safe room had been turned into a playroom paradise for the children. The workmen had made a new staircase, so the doorway to the tunnel could be enlarged at both ends.
The workmen also turned the former wine cellar into a storm shelter. It had a generator and was fully furnished. It would be a better place than the small space under the garage. They could use the bathroom of the new playroom.
The quads loved the new playroom. They had more space than the den. The girls took the old master bedroom and the boys took the other bedroom. Jan and James turned the tiny third bedroom into a music room.
There was a bit of an issue. Adam always wanted to be with the kids in the playroom. It was deep under the house. Dean said they were old enough to go down and play alone. It would help their independence and self confidence. Adam finally relented after Dean agreed to put a video "baby" monitor in the playroom.
Ida, Nancy and Ata were like the Golden Girls. Nancy and Ata were really helpful when Ida's beloved mother passed away.
The quadruplets were wonderful. They did extra chores and nearly flooded Ida with cups of tea. She loved and drank every single cup. Ida was honestly relieved. It had been a sad and hard journey with her mother's dementia. She knew her mother was finally at peace.
At the end of January, Seth began his maternity leave. Ata had Roman on speed dial. Roman knew his beloved husband was in the best possible hands with Aunt Ata. Roman had also told Judge Lawler he needed his cell phone in the courtroom and why. The Judge agreed as long as Roman kept it hidden, on silent.
Beth came to work with Lita and Adam. It was good to have the old team from St. Luke's back together again. Beth told them the latest. Doctor Brock Lesnar and Doctor John Cena had gotten married and John was expecting.
Dean also told the news that Doctor Dave Batista and Doctor Justin Gabriel were engaged. Everyone was happy. Justin deserved it. The other good thing was, St. Luke's and Children's Mercy began to work together. Because of Dean's experience at St. Luke's, Doctor Steve Austin made him the liaison to St. Luke's. Dean didn't mind. He and Justin worked well together to provide the best care for their patients.
Hazel Forrest also worked with advocate from Mercy. Georgina Williams was a recent college graduate and Mercy hired her. She worked with Hazel, not against her. In just two months, they had gotten thirty Make A Wishes granted.
It was February first. Dean and Adam had gone over to Seth and Roman's for supper. Adam spoke. "… so Ida said she would help chaperone." He took a bite of his food.
"It was really nice of you two to give Billy Henderson a birthday party at Chucky Cheese." Seth smiled at his friend. Adam was so thoughtful.
"It took a while to convince his mother, but she relented in the end. She knew how thrilled Billy would be. Dean and I also explained… it was also a very, very tiny way to make up for what Randy had done. Missus Henderson understood and now, they are having a wonderful time at Billy's birthday party. I have vowed, Randy's money will help all those he hurt… that I can." Adam ended with a shrug.
Dean laughed. "Plus it gives us a chance to be adults and have dinner with other adults. Well, you know what I mean."
Adam also laughed. "I do know. I love my babies, more than life, but sometimes I need a break. Even though we never talked to them like babies… it isn't exactly adult conversation."
Ata chuckled as she refilled their glasses of iced tea. "I don't know. I've heard this one and my twins argue politics at age ten. I knew then, Roman would become a lawyer. Seth, honey, are you alright? You look a bit pale." Ata spoke with worry. Seth seemed to turn pale before her eyes.
Roman want on immediate alert, as did the physician and registered nurse. "Babe? Seth?" Roman tried to get Seth's attention. Seth's eyes were completely blank.
Dean stood. "Ata, ambulance, now! Roman. Roman! Help me!" He had to shout to get Roman to focus.
Adam tried to get up to help. "No, stay. You are in no condition to help. Seth is having a preeclampsia episode. We need to lay him on the floor." Dean took control. He didn't want his own husband even more stressed.
Ata gently moved Roman out of the way and easily helped Dean lay Seth on the floor. She then called 911, at the same time she pushed Roman down into a chair.
"Ata, my bag." Dean barked as he worked to remove the sweat pants Seth wore.
Adam took the bag from Ata. He knew what his husband needed. "Twenty-five, Doctor?" He was in full nurse mode.
"Yes, by IV. Can you do It?" Dean didn't look up as he continued to examine Seth.
"Got it." Adam stated as Ata helped him kneel down on the floor. Adam was too focused on his best friend to worry about his own pregnant condition.
Roman just sat like a robot who's battery had died. He stared at his husband, as his lips silently passed words of prayer. Time seemed to stop.
Ata got up and went to the door at the first faint sound of a siren. It grew closer. She went out to wave them into the correct driveway.
Adam found a vein on the back of Seth's right hand. He slipped in the needle port. He quickly hooked up the IV bag. The nurse then injected the medicine that would hopefully keep Seth's blood pressure from dangerous levels.
In the past two weeks, their doctor had worried about Seth's blood pressure. It wasn't an uncommon condition, especially in pregnant males, but it could be a dangerous one. The good part was, birth usually ended the issue. It had to do with the stress on the body as birth drew near.
Dean took Seth's blood pressure as the EMTs came into the room. They watched and waited. They knew Doctor Ambrose from Mercy. Dean looked up.
"Rick, take over for Adam. Liz, check him. Preeclampsia, twenty-five in. Prepare twenty-five more, but wait for my order." Dean spoke with authority.
"Got it, Doctor Ambrose. Um… Doctor…" Rick nodded to Seth's lower region. It was obvious Seth's birth waters had broken. Baby Tamati wanted out.
Seth suddenly took a deep breath. Color returned to his face and his eyes sparked with life. "Dean? The baby wants out!" He couldn't remember what had happened, but he knew he was in labor.
When Roman heard his husband's voice, his mind snapped back to reality. He quickly went to kneel by Seth's side and took Seth's hand in his. He smiled at Seth.
"It's alright, Seth. Ambulance is here, but, I think Tam is ready now. You gave us a bit of a scare." Dean spoke as he and Rick worked to prepare Seth. Dean explained what had happened.
Ata and Liz helped Adam to the kitchen. They wanted the pregnant man to be as relaxed as possible. Just as they got to the kitchen, a breathless Shawn and Hunter came in through the garage.
"What's wrong? We were out for a walk when we saw the ambulance." Shawn asked as he huffed and puffed.
Adam and Ata explained what had taken place. As they spoke, the sounds of Seth's cries wafted in the air. The birth of baby Reigns was well underway.
Roman had fully regained himself. He did everything he'd learned in child birth class. The EMT Rick, constantly monitored Seth's blood pressure. The danger wasn't over yet. He had more medication on stand by.
"Breathe, baby, breathe." Roman indicated for Seth to pant like a dog through the labor pains.
In the kitchen, Shawn paced as Hunter watched. "That's what I was doing, waiting for Megan." Hunter chuckled as he sipped on a cup of coffee.
Ata looked at the Detective. "You weren't in the delivery room, Hunter?" She was a bit surprised.
It was Shawn who answered. "I had to have a C-Section. Our Doctor was old fashioned and wouldn't let Hunter into the operating room. I was too out of it to argue. I think the poor man wore a hole in the waiting room floor… oh… well…" He realized what he'd been doing and sat down next to his husband.
Adam chuckled. "Thank you, Shawn. As Jade would say, you were breaking my nerve."
"You did that four times, at once?" Hunter looked at Adam with a new found and deeper respect for the blond.
Adam laughed. "No, Hunter, but it felt like it. Although Jade was a little impatient for Jordan to come out. That was a bit painful. I am just glad there is only one in here this time." He rubbed his belly. Baby Ambrose fluttered and kicked. The baby could feel Adam's stress.
Ata nodded. "I understand, Adam. Jim and Jey wanted to come out at the same time. It was not fun. But, I got the two I wanted, So I can't complain too much." She smiled at the memory.
After a few more grunts and shouts, the sound of a crying baby filled the Reigns' house. Adam started to get up, but Shawn stopped him.
"Give them a few minutes." Shawn didn't want to burst in on anything.
Liz, the EMT, came into the kitchen. Daddy and baby are fine. They are going to the hospital." She gave the report with confidence and a big smile. New babies were always a happy occasion.
After a few minutes, Roman came into the kitchen, a blanketed bundle in his arms. "Auntie, meet Tamati Iosefa Reigns." He held his son out to his Aunt Ata.
"Fa' Amalo i lau pepe fou, dear Roman." Ata smiled and kissed the baby's head as she held him close. She had told Roman congratulations on your baby boy.
Roman beamed. "Fa á fetal tele. Oute laofa la te oe, Auntie." Roman told her thank you very much, I love you, in Samoan. It was a special moment between the two of them.
Adam was next to hold the baby as Shawn and Hunter looked over his shoulder. "Hey, dear Tamati, welcome to the world. You're going to have four cousins to look after you, and another one who will be your best friend soon." He gave the baby a kiss.
"Roman, we're ready. Adam, I am going with them. I will be home later. Will you guys stay with him till Ida and the kids get home, please?" Dean looked at the Helmsley's as he washed his hands.
Hunter nodded. "You know we will. Come on, so they can lock up." Everyone stood.
Adam spoke with Seth as they wheeled him to the ambulance, the baby safe in his daddy's arms.
"He's beautiful, Sethie. Are you alright?" Adam asked, worry on his face.
Seth winced when the stretcher bumped a bit. "I am sore and tired. He's perfect. Isn't he just perfect?" He stared at his baby with perfect, instant love.
"Simply perfect. I will come see you tomorrow. Lita and Beth will want pictures. Love you." Adam kissed Seth's cheek as they loaded him into the ambulance.
Dean kissed his husband. "He's alright. Just needs some fluids. Baby is perfect. I will be home later. I love you." He kissed Adam again, then got into the ambulance, with Liz, Seth and baby Tam.
"Seth, I will be right behind you." Roman spoke to Seth with a wave. He and Ata would follow in Roman's car.
Shawn and Hunter walked home with Adam. They settled in the kitchen. Shawn made some hot chocolate.
"The baby was a bit early, but I am glad everyone is alright. Seth really blacked out." Hunter spoke as he lit a cigar. He used the smoke drawing ashtray.
Adam nodded. "Preeclampsia can present at any stage of the pregnancy. It can also present in different ways. Some have seizures. Seth was extremely lucky. His developed late and wasn't to dangerously severe levels yet. He blacked out a bit when his blood pressure rose to quickly. The medicine we gave him, quickly reduces the preeclampsia. Again, he's lucky, it doesn't work for everyone. Guys, I will be alright. Ida and the kids will be back soon." He knew Shawn would now have extra work with Roman out with Seth and Tamati.
Shawn swallowed his sip of hot chocolate. "Absolutely not. Tomorrow is Saturday, so no work for me. Kofi and Shane can help me on Monday. They know the case. Shane can't be at the defense table, but I can manage. The Bella twins are the leads. Honey, are you alright? You look a bit… over tired." He focused his worry onto Adam.
Adam smiled and took Shawn's hand in his. "I am alright, poppa Shawn. I am tired. I wish I could take a bubble bath, but it's not good for the baby. The last trimester is tiring, you know that. Hunter, how is Bob? And Randy?" He loved Shawn, but he wanted to change the subject.
"Bob is alright, as far as I know. He is now in Clay County, until his trial. Randy is good. I think selling the company got rid of a lot of stress." Hunter spoke with a shrug.
Adam let out a bit of a laugh. "I know this wrong of me to say. Bob deserved what Randy gave him. Should have done it years ago, when he could have gotten away with it. Again, to be honest, Bob deserved more than he got. He's lucky, Randy in full IED is… scary." Adam sighed. Randy couldn't help his IED condition.
Hunter grinned. "Shawn, don't listen. I agree with you, son. Many nights Randy talked to me about Bob while you were in nursing school. He said his love for you kept him from hitting Bob. Well, it doesn't matter, what's done is done."
"Yeah, it is. Shawn, are you sure the kids and I don't have to testify?" Adam was curious. He wanted Bálor and Barrett to pay for the accident.
Shawn took their now empty cups to the sink and washed them. "I am positive about the children. Brie said using them can sometimes put a jury off. Like using them for sympathy. I would like to to have you testify, to explain the fear you felt. It's up to Brie. She works very different to me. She gets convictions, so I can't argue with that. Be prepared, but don't count on it. Sorry son, that's the best I can say. Oh, and Hunter, I agree with you two about Bob." He winked at his husband.
Both Hunter and Adam laughed. The joy continued when Ida and the quadruplets came into the kitchen. All the children tried to tell Adam about the party at the same time. In the middle of the chaos, Shawn and Hunter left for home.
Adam and the children went to the den. "Hey, where is dad?" Jade asked when she noticed Dean wasn't there.
"Well, dad is at the hospital. Guess what. Baby Tam is here! He was born over at Uncle Seth and Uncle Roman's house!" Adam told his children the happy news.
"Tamati is here? He was borned in the house? Is he alright? Uncle Sethie?" Jan asked in a worried voice. She was the "little mother" of the quads.
Adam hugged Jan. "Yes, baby. They are both just fine. Baby Tam came fast. It is normal for Seth and the baby to be in the hospital. Oh…" Adam picked up his cell phone. He had a text alert.
"Hey, dad sent pictures for you, and he will be home in half an hour. Look." Adam let his children seen the pictures. Adam was relieved. Seth looked happy and Tamati was adorable.
"Daddy, were we that small? He's cute, but he needs to be ironed." Jade spoke as she looked at the pictures.
Adam bit back a laugh, but smiled. "All babies look like that till they gain some weight and fill out their skin. Actually, you four were even smaller. You came early. Jordan was the smallest and Jan was the biggest. You darlings need to bathe. Dad will be home to read to you by the time your done."
"Okay daddy. Come on." James got up as the leader.
Ida went up to help the children. Adam laid back on the couch and closed his eyes. He wasn't sure how long he dozed, but Adam woke up when he felt Dean's lips on his.
Adam's eyes fluttered open. "Hi love. How are they?" He asked as he stretched to wake up a bit.
Dean pulled Adam up to his feet. "They are fine. I was really worried when he first blanked out. I feared a stroke, it can happen with preeclampsia. But, everything is fine and normal. Seth really had an easy labor. Tamati just slid right out. I can't wait to meet ours. Roman is absolutely floating and Aunt Ata hasn't stopped taking pictures. Come on, you babies need to get to bed." Dean took his husband upstairs.
Thirty minutes later, Dean put the book he read to the children on the beside table. They little lions were curled around their daddy. James looked like he wanted to say something, but wasn't sure if he should. Adam also noticed it.
"James, do you have something on your mind? Speak now, it's really bed time." Dean looked at his son.
Jan, Jade and Jordan looked at their brother. James nodded. "Daddy… did… well… Billy's dad… did our…" He just didn't know how to say it.
Jade let out an exasperated sigh. "Did that man make Billy's dad's plane blow up? I didn't drop eaves, but…" She wasn't about to get one of her siblings in trouble.
Adam looked over at Dean. They knew one day, the quads would ask direct questions. However, neither one of them expected it this soon. They had to answer, but how.
Dean looked at his family. "Tell you what. Since there is no school tomorrow, your four can sleep with us. Just for this one night. I promise, daddy and I will answer all your questions tomorrow. Daddy and the baby need to sleep. Is that alright with you lions?" He looked at each child with expectation.
James spoke as the leader. "Okay, dad. It's just… yeah, in the morning." At that moment, James looked twenty-seven, not seven. His little mind was heavy.
Adam hugged his children and managed to kiss each one. "It will be alright, I promise. Just remember, you are safe. Dad and I won't let anything happen to you. Come on, let's get some sleep."
Dean helped tuck Adam and the children into the huge bed. When he settled in, Dean slept on his side, his arm draped over his family. Jade was pressed against him, then Jordan. Adam was in the middle, Jan and James on his other side. Adam cleared his mind, he needed sleep. Tomorrow would be a very difficult day.
At Mercy Hospital, Roman kissed his husband. "Seth, let me stay. I will sleep, I promise." He wanted to be there with his husband and son.
Seth gave Roman a sleep filled smile. "Ro, go home. Bring me breakfast. It will be the last peaceful sleep… for the next twenty-one years. Seriously, babe. I love you. Tamati and I will be here in the morning. Auntie, please, make him mind me."
Ata laughed. "Don't worry, he will. Love you, Seth. I'll have the nursery ready." She kissed Seth's cheek.
Roman held his hands up. "Alright, I'll go. Seth Colby Reigns I love you so much. You are my world and now, with our son, our world is complete paradise. I will be here in the morning, with breakfast. Love you." He leaned over and kissed Seth with all the love he felt.
"I love you, Roman Leati Joseph Reigns. Now, kiss your son and go." Seth gave Roman kiss then let him go.
"Love you, little man. Take care of your daddy." Roman gave the sleeping baby a soft kiss. Roman and Ata left.
On the drive home, Roman laughed. "Seth was probably right. I won't get any sleep for the next twenty-one years." He let out a sigh. It made Ata laugh.
"You'll sleep, son. You and Seth will raise him to know right from wrong. Oh, be prepared to hear from Jimmy and Jey. They will try to guilt you about me being here. Do not cave into them. I am right where I want to be. Got it?" Ata spoke firmly.
Roman laughed again. "Got it. If they get too carried away, I will put Uncle Afa or Cousin Dwayne on their asses. But Auntie, don't forget, you raised them to be so stubborn." He turned onto Gladstone, almost home.
Ata growled. " I know. I wanted them to be independent, not stubborn. Good idea, nephew. The twins are scared to death of their Uncle Afa, and with Dwayne to back Afa up.. yeah, you got this." They had arrived back home. An hour later, they were both sound asleep.
Down the street, at the Helmsley's house, Megan and Shane sat on the sill of the bay window.
"I'm glad Seth and Tamati are alright. It sounded a bit scary. I think my parents forgot about tomorrow. I will be there, and they will too." Megan spoke softly. Her back rested against Shane's chest as they spoke.
Shane kissed Megan's cheek. "Thanks. I'm glad now that you talked me in to letting you come. I just hope Stephanie… behaves." He gave a sigh.
Megan turned a bit to look at Shane. "I am sure she will. It's your father's internment. She loved and respected him. It will be alright."
Shane nodded. "True. I think your dads had to pull a lot of favors to get her there." There wasn't much to say.
"Just remember, babe. It's okay to feel how you feel. You say what you have to say. If you want to scream and yell, do it. If you want to cry, do it. Don't keep it bottled up. I think that's how my needle angst started. I kept my fear of needles bottled up till it over took me. If I had confronted it from the start, it would have been better. Trust me, I've learned a lot, dealing with my medical stuff." Megan spoke with the wisdom she had learned.
Shane hugged Megan closer. "You're so wonderful, sweetheart. You always know how to lift me up. I love you." He gently lifted Megan's chin with his fingertips and kissed her softly.
Megan blushed in the moonlight when the kiss broke. "I love you." She didn't need to say anything else.
Upstairs, Shawn lay in Hunter's arms. "We almost forgot about tomorrow with all the baby excitement. It's arranged for Stephanie to be there?" Shawn asked with a yawn.
Hunter also yawned. "Yes. There will escort her from the lockup. She wasn't happy about having to wear the orange jumpsuit though. I did manage to talk them out of restraints. I will be right next to her. It was either that or nothing. It won't take too long, there isn't any service, not even a Pastor. Do you think Meggie should be there?" He was worried it would be too much for Megan.
Shawn looked up at his husband. "Shane needs her, Hunt. If you haven't noticed, she is the strength of their foundation. You know… I thought I would lose her, but no, she comes to me more for advice now. She listens and learns. I've learned a lot from her. Meg has taught me patience if nothing else. We did well, Hunter. We did really well." Shawn smiled with a parental pride.
Hunter had the same look of pride. "We sure did. When I see how some teenagers turn out…" He gave a slight shudder as he thought of some of the things he saw, first as a beat cop, then as a Detective.
Tomorrow was going to be rough for some, sad for others and joy for the new life. It was life after death.
