Harry was kept in the Hospital wing all weekend, Celesta visiting him occasionally when she was between her studies, though she left him when it came time for meals and when her breaks between homework were up. She was hoping that by the time she was a fourth or fifth year, Professor Snape might apprentice her.
She'd owled her godfather a few days ago, and all he said was that during the summer he'd send an owl for them to talk about potentially being his apprentice, but only if she scored an O on her core exams. Ancient Runes would be alright with an A, Care of Magical Creatures however was expected to get an E or better, and Herbology, Potions, Transfiguration and Charms would need an O. History of Magic, however, she could skate by with an E, if she wasn't already prepared for the class before Hogwarts.
Lupin returned to classes the next week, a secret smiled shared by Celesta to the werewolf as she took her seat. After class, Harry asked if they could begin their private lessons in the Patronus charm. After setting up a schedule, they were released to go to their next class.
Two weeks before the end of term the weather finally lightened up to a dazzling opaline white. The muddy grounds were discovered to be covered with frost, and inside the castle there was a sense of Christmas in the air. Flitwick had decorated his classroom with Faerie lights that contained real fluttering Faeries. Mcgonagall had strung up garlands of holly.
To everybody's delight, there was a Hogsmeade weekend on the very last week of term, and it was the first snowfall. On the way to Hogsmeade with Ron and Hermione, she told them she was going to go Christmas shopping while they stopped in Honeydukes, Celesta instead went to Gladrags Wizardwear. She'd claimed to be shopping for a set of robes for her Father for Christmas, which sped up the ordering process. They were charmed to be warm in the winters and cool in the summer time, as well as meant to last a few years.
After the clothing shop, she headed to Dervish and Bangs, getting a brush and a potion of Sleakeazy's hair solution, wrapping them with the set of robes with careful movements.
Happy with the purchases, she called on Luli to take it to the area all the other gifts were being held, but warned Luli that she was wanting to deliver this gift herself.
Fred, George, and Daimon found her then, the three of them fighting a little bit for her time before she suggested they spend time together, ceasing the fighting as they went to the Hog's Head for a few glasses of Butterbeer.
She was happy her twins were getting along with Daimon, getting to know him. She could tell they weren't going to be the best of friends, but the fact that they were getting friendly with him was a good sign. Daimon even opened up about his newest crush on Dean Thomas, though he was keeping his options open. After all, for all they knew he was the only gay student. He did admit that Collin Creevey from last year was kind of cute, though the kid needed to mature a bit.
They returned to the castle a few hours later, Fred and George occupying her time in the common room by playing with her hair on one of the couches. Fred combed through the wavy strands while George pulled her legs into his lap, massaging her ankles while she blushed and closed her eyes in order to sigh as she relaxed. They never pushed any further, which made her happy because she wasn't ready for that, but they made sure to pamper her. They even asked her to spend the night with them like she usually did while at school, code for in her fox form.
They were going home for Christmas, so she'd nodded, asking permission to stay in their empty dorm during the break. Lately, it'd become hard to keep away from them, her magic getting restless. They'd noticed the same, seaking her out between classes, taking her for most meals.
Hermione and Ron took her attention then, calling her over to them and Harry, where she learned that Sirius was Harry's Godfather. Schooling her features, she rose an eyebrow before nodding a little bit, trying to help Harry feel better. He didn't seem to be paying attention though, locked in his head before everybody went to bed. Hopefully he'd feel better the next day.
Fred and George spent the night petting her while they took turns sleeping a couple hours at a time, watching her sleep and smoothing her fur whenever her dreams turned troubling. They woke her with kisses to her head between her ears, making the bed and hiding her in their pillows before leaving to catch the train.
She fell back asleep for a few hours, waiting until the tower was mostly quiet before she departed their room, going and getting dressed in her room she shared with Hermione who was getting dressed. They spent the rest of morning hours playing games, Hermione teaching her a few card games from the muggle world, like 'Blackjack' and 'Go Fish'.
Harry arrived near lunch time, He, Hermione, and Ron getting into a fight about Black.
"He's my second cousin, you know." Celesta remarked casually, nodding her head when they stared at her increduously. "He's my Mother's cousin, so my second cousin," she continued. "And anyway, Harry's right. He'll never get closure if he doesn't figure out the truth."
They left her behind then to go to Hagrids then, while she went to Flitwick to help putting up Christmas decorations for the remaining students, earning twenty points for her efforts.
The day before Christmas Eve she snuck out in fox form, Sirius' present in her bag as she headed to the Shrieking Shack to deliver it.
"Harry's furious, you know." she told him, explaining about finding out he was Harry's Godfather. "I think he wishes to avenge his parents, since nobody else knows the truth. In other news, Mother's gotten me an apartment in London, that only she, I, and now you know about. Lucius is disowning me after this year, so I'll be on my own, though Narcissa is helping me when she can. If you'd like, if it's big enough, I wouldn't mind a house guest. I'm sure you know protective charms."
They spent the evening chatting about it, and by the time she scurried up to the castle she considered Sirius an uncle.
Christmas morning she woke early, four bouquets of her favorite flowers from her twins. She's recieved the key to her apartment from her Mother, hidden as a charm on her bracelet, a skeleton key that was charmed to turn into a house key whenever she pressed her lips to the charm. Draco it seemed, had gotten the same idea as her, getting her an enchanted quill that wouldn't ever break. Father had gotten her a new daydress meant for Winter, along with a cloak that was charmed to match her outfit.
Hermione had gotten her a new grooming brush, for Maera she'd said with a wink. Ron and Harry had gotten her potion vials and sweets, and Hagrid, sweetheart that he is, had sent her a box of tea he'd thought she'd like. Even Sirius had gotten her something, Celesta finding an expensive book of rare potions. Severus had sent her potions she'd need to learn before he considered accepting her as an apprentice. She'd turn in the results before her exams.
After Christmas dinner, Mcgonagall consficated the broomstick, making Harry and Ron furious with Hermione. Celesta consoled the girl for the rest of the holiday, Hermione avoiding the common room in favor of the library, where they read ahead a few chapters in their classes, getting essays prepared. Hermione maybe only got a month or two with all the classes she was taking, but Celesta was able to get until late March or early April.
Classes resumed a few weeks later, the Firebolt still getting checked for jinxes.
Eight o'clock on Thursday night, they had their first lesson on patronuses in practice, coaxing Harry to learn.
"It's the happiest feeling you've ever had. All the good you've experienced, all the happy memories, pick the happiest memory you have and cling to that feeling. Cling to it while you summon your patronus."
Needless to say, Harry was able to produce a weak light, but no where near a shield or corporeal patronus. For a few weeks they met, Harry no longer passing out during classes, but he couldn't get past an indistinct shield.
"It's alright Harry. During my summer tutoring, it took me nearly a month before I could even get that far." Celesta told him as they headed back to the Tower. Mcgonagall stopped them a few moments later, giving Harry his broom back in perfect condition. They raced back to the common room then, Celesta and Harry convincing Ron that the boys needed to make up with Hermione when they ran across Neville. Apparently he'd lost the passwords he'd written down for the week.
Cringing a little bit with a long sigh, they finally came into the room, Harry immediately surrounded by his teammates, Fred and George sparing her quick kisses on her cheeks, each of them nearing her lips before they let her go to Hermione, pulling out her homework to finish a couple of essays. Harry joined them a few minutes later, Ron going up to give Scabbers some Rat Tonic meant to help with his health.
Harry and Hermione were talking a bit about Arithmacy when Ron yelled, shoving a bloodied sheet at Hermione when he arrived back downstairs with long ginger cat hairs.
Celesta could only sigh a little bit. Ron and Hermione would never really get along, not unless Ron could mature a little bit and think of others than himself. Though considering they had just entered their teens, she supposed it was appropriate that Ron was not quite matured. It's probably a good thing that her twins were much more mature than Ron.
The Gryffindor against Ravenclaw game had finally come, and Ron and Hermione still hadn't made up. To top it all off, it seemed that Harry had taken Ron's side, which put a strain on Harry and Hermione's friendship. Celesta refused to get in the middle of it, telling them that until they've all made up she was going to only spend time with Daimon and the twins. She had no use for petty drama.
With their friendship strained, private lessons were a bit difficult, as Celesta refused to help beyond casting her own patronus, who seemed to hiss at Harry whenever she casted it, as if sensing that she was a bit ticked at her friend.
She'd even shared her frustrations with her brother with their enchanted and linked parchments, but all Draco said was that fights happened with friends sometimes, but eventually everything would be right as rain.
Celesta didn't attend the game, but when the common room filled with people ready to party due to their win, she chuckled a bit. Fred and George disappeared for a couple of hours, before returning with butterbeer and bags of sweets from Honeydukes and Pumpkin Fizz, a soda for second years and below.
Harry attempted to get Hermione to join the party, she'd noticed between Fred and George's attentions, but Ron was still being a prat against her. A quick wave of her wand sent a childish tripping jinx against her carrot-topped friend before kissing Fred and George on the cheek and dashing after Hermione, who had ran up to their dorm sobbing.
"Hermione don't take his words to heart. He's a prat and will always be." She told her, hugging her close. They ended up going to bed a while later, Celesta sneaking up some fudge for her.
Only in the early morning hours of the morning they were awoken by shouting, pulling robes over their nightgowns as they went to see what was going on. Mcgonagall apparently had the same idea, her voice stern as Ron demanded everybody believe him, that Sirius Black had been standing over him with a knife.
Celesta snuck behind some taller students to hide her scowl. Sirius wasn't hunting children, he was hunting somebody else, presumably Pettigrew, though she didn't know how he'd be in the castle. After all, Pettigrew hadn't been seen for twelve years.
But Mcgonagall questioned their portrait, who'd admitted to letting Black in since he had the week of passwords written on a piece of paper. Nobody was able to go back to sleep that night, Fred and George pulling her to their laps, hugging her tightly as the castle was once again searched. Towards dawn they learned that Sirius had, once again, escaped.
