—What! —I scream in outrage. —If we met I think I'd remember.

I don't think I'd forget a smile like that, or that elegant demeanor he has, or his imposing body and stature

—I'm sorry, we haven't actually been officially introduced. It was at a benefit. At no point could I take my eyes off the girl in the blue dress. —he says to me as he looks at me with a smile.

I know which dress he's talking about, at least I was able to get that one back. And I remember what benefit I wore it to.

—That party doesn't bring back pleasant memories. —I say very quietly as I pick up my silverware.

I had just started as Elena's assistant. It was the first party I attended and I didn't feel very comfortable in that new environment for me. I still feel uncomfortable every time I go to one.

—It wasn't a very pleasant night for me either. The only good thing that happened at that party was meeting you. —he says to me as he picks up his silverware and starts to eat.

And as I start eating the delicious macaroni and cheese and meatballs I keep thinking about the fact that he was interested in me for a long time. Why didn't you ever say anything? Why didn't you look for me?

—Why didn't you approach me at the party?

—I don't think I would have made a good impression on you at the time.

—Why not?

—Because I was fat and in a wheelchair.

I stopped eating. I already knew he was fat. But I didn't know he was in a wheelchair.

—What happened? —I suddenly want to know more about him.

I hardly know anything. And now I want to know every single detail of his life.

—I don't want to spoil your dinner on that subject, some other time. Tell me how about how long you've been working for Elena. —he asks me to change the topic of conversation.

—I've been working as her assistant for almost a year now. Actually, I'm the one who's lasted the longest. —I tell him with a proud smile as I stand there thinking for a moment.

When I started working for her, I got the stories from the old. None of them made it through the week. And so the days and weeks and months began to pass. Elena has grown fond of me.

I stare at Christian, wanting to know more about him.

—Kate told me that you work at a club at night, but I never imagined it was the one we went to that night. —but then I get all pensive. —But I don't understand something. —I tell him as he stares at me. —If you're the owner of this restaurant, why are you a security guard at the club?

—Actually, I'm not a security guard there. —he says to me with a smile.

—So what exactly do you do at the club?—I ask him curiously.

He smiles at me.

—I don't think you're ready to know what I do at the club. —he says to me enigmatically as he continues to dine.

As soon as we finish dinner, the door opens and the curtain goes up. The waiter removes our plates and leaves the dessert in the center of the table before retiring, leaving us in privacy again.

Dessert is a single slice of chocolate cake and comes with a bottle of chocolate syrup, which Christian puts aside. I take my silverware and cut a piece of the cake that I put in my mouth.

—Mmmm. —I moan and close my eyes as I slowly slide my tongue to my lips. This id delicious.

When I open my eyes, Christian is watching me.

—You're not going to eat? —I ask him when I see that his eyes don't move away from mine, or it's my lips. I don't know exactly.

—Go ahead, it's for you. I'd rather watch you eat. —he says to me leaning back in the chair while I stare at him.

But I ignore that last comment and take another portion that I bring back to my mouth as I slowly taste.

—It's a lot more fun.

I open my eyes and stare at him. Did I hear right? I continue to eat until I finish all the dessert by myself.

—You've had a decent dinner. I think it's time to go. —he says to me as he stands up.

I'm about to ask him if he's going to pay, but I remember that the restaurant is his. So I stand up while he picks up the bottle of chocolate syrup and drives me out to the car. This time he opens the front door and without thinking twice I sit in the passenger seat.

I'm exhausted and the journey to the apartment goes by quickly. Christian gets off with me, but instead of walking to the elevator he heads for another car which I imagine is his.

—Aren't yu coming up?—I ask him, stopping in the middle of the underground parking lot.

—I have to go to the club. —he says to me from the side of his car.

I stare at him. I walk in his direction and stop in front of him. I look up and get lost in his eyes.

—Thank you.

—For what?

—For the dinner tonight. —I tell him with a slight smile.

And without thinking, I hold on to his forearms and stand on tiptoe. I go up to him, and I kiss him on the cheek.

—Good night, Christian. —I say to him with a smile as I let go of his arms and head for the elevator.

I press the button and the doors open instantly. When I enter and turn around, I can see Christian still in the middle of the underground park, looking at me. And as we both look at each other, the doors close.

I enter the apartment and go straight to the bathroom. While I'm in the shower, I think about dinner, everything he said to me. His confession.

Christian wants me.

And for a moment this afternoon, I came to want him too. I guess I'm a little confused. I don't know if what I'm feeling is due to sexual frustration. I'm attracted to him, that's undeniable. But I don't know if I'm ready to feel myself again, incomplete. To give myself to someone and not feel completely satisfied.

When I get out of the bathroom and get dressed, I drop into bed while staring at the ceiling.

I look for my phone and check it before I go to bed, I have a message from Elena saying that the car is at my disposal all day to take care of the remaining interviews. I put it on the nightstand.

Christian's not gay.

That's the last thing I think about before my eyes close.

The alarm starts ringing and I turn it off. I set it earlier today because I want to make him breakfast. After a quick pass in the bathroom I head to the kitchen.

Great!

He hasn't left his room yet.

So I start making breakfast.

Toast with butter and a cheese and bacon omelet.

I'm pulling out the bacon when I feel the bedroom door open. I look up and find his gaze. The way he looks at me right now only reminds me that he wants me. He's already fully dressed and I can see the blazer being fixed as he walks in my direction.

—Good morning. —I tell him with my best smile.

—Good morning.—he answers as he approaches me.

I put the dishes on the counter, take the juice out of the fridge and turn around to sit down for breakfast.

—Mmmm, I don't remember Kate wearing those clothes like that. —his moaning makes me look up.

I'm still standing and I can see his eyes gliding over my body as he slips his tongue over his lips in a sensual gesture.

It's too early for this. So I decide to ignore him and sit down to breakfast. I sit down next to him and slowly start eating breakfast.

But Christian doesn't, he just stares at me.

—You're not having breakfast? —I ask without looking away from my breakfast.

—The view has distracted me. —he tells me, making me put down my breakfast and turn to face him.

—What view? —I ask him playing dumb, even though I know what he means.

But he doesn't answer what I thought.

—The view of your legs getting lost in the short shorts you're wearing. —he pauses as he looks down at my legs.

His words make me start to get nervous.

—And how your nipples are deliciously marked under that shirt you're wearing. —he says to me now, looking up from the junction of my legs to my chest. I can see his tongue sensually sliding down his lips once more. And I can only think of feeling her sliding down certain parts of my body. At the thought, my nipples harden and tighten even more against the shirt.

Shit!

I should have changed my clothes before I left the room. I quickly cross my arms over my chest. His comment has only made my body react by betraying me.

Christian looks up into my eyes and smiles at me before turning to his breakfast to continue. Apaparently this was his goal this morning.

To excite me.

Or make me feel uncomfortable. When he finishes his breakfast, he gets up to pick up the dishes.

—You'd better hurry, I can't wait for you forever.

Shit!

I get up and run full speed to the bedroom. I quickly undress and open the wardrobe, choose some tight jeans and a sky blue blouse. And when I'm dressed I put on my heels. I pull my hair back, leaving some strands behind, and go out to the kitchen. I need breakfast or I won't be able to do anything all day.

Lucky for me, Christian's not in the kitchen. So I take the opportunity to eat breakfast at full speed before his presence interrupts my breakfast. When I'm done, I pick things up. Only then do I notice a note he's left on the counter.

I'll wait for you in the car, I don't want to make you more uncomfortable this morning.

Christian

But if the bastard had done it on purpose. I wash my mouth and put on my make-up quickly before taking the bag and leaving for the parking lot. I get in the back of the car and stare at him in the rearview mirror.

I look through the papers where I have the addresses of the interviews.

—These are all the ones from today. —I tell him by holding out the paper.

—Well, let's get going. —he says to me as he starts the car.

I must say that today was another failure. Christian took me from one interview to another, we haven't stopped all day except for a quick burger before the afternoon interviews.

It's 4:00 pm when Christian drops me off in front of the office. I get out of the car with the papers and walk to Elena's office. I knock before she sends me in.

—Because of your face, I can tell it didn't go well. —she tells me as soon as I walk in.

—Not very well, yesterday either. I don't think these sports celebrities are what the magazine's looking for.

—You still have interviews left?

—Yes, just a few for tomorrow afternoon.

Elena looks at her watch and smiles at me.

—You can go, Ana, go and rest, I know how much your feet must hurt on those heels walking around all day.

—Thank you, Elena. —I'm exhausted and I really need to rest.

—Ask Christian to take you and then come get me.

—All right. —I'll tell her as I walk to the door.

—And Ana. —she says to me as I stop at the door. —You don't have to come in the morning, Christian will pick you up at your apartment before the afternoon interviews. —she says to me with a smile. —You deserve the rest.

I leave his office a little more cheerful. I say goodbye to Kate and head back to the car. Christian stares at me while he scowls.

—Elena said to take me and then come get her. —I tell him as I take off my heels.

Christian just smiles at me in the mirror as he drives off to the apartment. When he parks in the underground parking lot, I'm still unconsciously massaging my feet. I hang up my bag on one shoulder, take the papers in one hand, open the door and take the shoes in the other hand.

—Do you need help? —Christian asks me as I walk to the elevator.

—No. —I tell him as I continue walking. —Unless it's a massage. —I said this last part in a low voice.

I set the alarm on the phone to go down to the kick boxing class. I need to hit something and release this sexual tension that has been building up. I'm sorry about whoever I'm partnering with today. I fall into bed and the exhausting tiredness makes me fall asleep. I wake up without hearing the alarm. What time is it? I look at the clock.

God! I'm going to be late!

I get up running and get dressed quickly. I hang the bag on my shoulder and go down at full speed. I run into the gym, greet the girl in reception with a smile and quickly head for my class.

I sit down on a bench and start to get my stuff out. Luckily for me, the teacher hasn't arrived yet. Or so I think.

—Good afternoon guys, I'm back, sorry for the days I couldn't attend. —the professor has just arrived, I'd better hurry up with the bandages.

The professor's voice is not the same as the other day, so I guess this is Professor Rodriguez.

—Pair up for the warm-up. —he says as I almost finish with the first bandage.

Shit!

I finish with the wrap and start with the other one. I feel his footsteps coming in my direction.

—You're the new student? —I feel his low voice behind me.

—Not very new, I was already going to class, but I had to move. —I tell him without looking up or paying much attention while I finish wraping my hand. I don't want him to think I'm a rookie at this.

—Since you don't have a partner, and you're already experienced, you'll warm-up and practice with me. —he says behind my back.

I finish with the wrap and stand up and turn to him. And I almost lose my balance.

Almost.

Luckily I didn't fall on my ass this time.

Karma's a bitch.
